Reflex - 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Sentis grits his teeth against the burn of the acid on his skin.
HP = 12/23
and then moves 5' so he's flanking with Grusk and renews his assault in desperation to put the thing down quickly.

Blaze - FYI, have included your MM damage in the reckoning
Doc's bomb overshoots, but enough of it splashes back to scorch the insectoid rump...
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Darkbiter: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 for 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3) + 3 = 9
Kaavel's blow is accurate and powerful and the stunned ankheg is unable to avoid Darkbiter's blade descending like a guillotine - severing it's head at one of the abdomen joints.
The area goes quiet as all of the visible and known threats have been dealt with. Baran looks upon his singed and smoking master and keens in concern.
All dead or dying, out of combat.

Memluk "Blaze" Seljuk |

Blaze sits down in a huff, clutching his wound. "See what kind of leader I am?? I jump down here and almost become lunch for whatever the Hells those things were just so you guys wouldn't become chow food yourselves" He says with a weak laugh. "Now can somebody please heal me?"

Sentis Spinis |

Sentis scrathed at the more than annoying burns on his arms and chest and fingered the few dreads that had almsot completely burned to the root wistffully.
Aye, Im ready to get out of here already.
He'll grab ahold of the rope when its his turn and pull himself out of the pit.

"How 'bout we make camp right over there? Close enough we c'n see the hole, far 'nough away that we'll have plenty o' time if'n there's more o' them."

Drannigan "Doc" Piper |

"Great. Kaavel, ye wanna be mah lab assistant a'gin? Ah wanna crack open those bugs an' take th' plates and acid sacks, an' meybe those chompers too."
Tossing grusk the leather case he keeps the alarm traps in, Doc makes his way tot he edge of the hole. "Ye know what t' do. When camp's set ah'm gonna need some help haulin' stuff outta here. An git me a good fire goin. Ah need t' start rippin those bugs down b'fore they start spewin in death throws."
Take 20 on whatever skills cover harvesting these things. Should be 29 if it's a skill I have.

Sentis Spinis |

The druid looked around as he clambered out of the pit and assessed his companions wounds. Grusk and Sunny seem to be as hurt as he was himself so he set to healing them with the captain first.
Blaze - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Grusk - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Sentis - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
He took the time to scrathch Baran ears and assure the wolf that he was well before investigating the wagon while the others stripped the big bugs of all sort of apparent valuables.
Perception - 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

The wagon itself seems in reasonable condition. The rear axle is shot - snapped clean through and the rear wheels likely need replacing as well. The only load on the wagon is a healthy amount of halite, partially spilled on the ground from when the axle broke.
Moving to the front of the wagon you note a distinct lack of oxen... but a couple of old dried blood smears give you some indication as to their fate. Tracking the smear a short distance you see it disappear into a similar sinkhole to the one that claimed the squad. You see neither hide nor hair of the driver either.

Sentis Spinis |

The elf in him was delighted at the sight of the stones. He assumed they were precious. As that thought caught hold Sentis really began to worry. He walked over to where Sunny and the others were.
I found this bag of stones in the wagon. If they are what I think they are then I fear for the men that were on it. As I doubt they wouldve left these if they had a chance.
He'll toss the sack to Doc.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Delving into the ankheg tunnels shows that while they are extensive, it would appear that the only inhabitants were the three that you have already slain. After a few tens of minutes of idle wandering in the tunnels you reach what could be described as their den. There are half-devoured corpses of a human and two oxen within the chamber, already putrefying with decay and some of the flesh and bone eaten away by the predations of acid.
Searching the den you do not find anything of any value.

Drannigan "Doc" Piper |

"Yeh, I c'n do that. Gonna take me some time though. This stuff's good but it ain't easy t' work."
Doc and Kaavel get to work, and after a few hours come out with everything of value from the creatures, and desperately needing a bath.
"Ah really hope one of ye got mah fire goin."

Sentis Spinis |

Sentis clambored up out of the pit after a somewhat fruitless search of the ankheg's den.
Im guessing the caravan left this wagon behind. We'll have to begin the search again in the morning.
He heard the dwarf mention a bath and the need for a fire so he got to work on the latter and scans the skies hoping that rain isnt on the way any time soon.
Survival - 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Sentis Spinis |

Thoughtful, Sentis seemed to recall something.
Was it just the one wagon we were searching for? There were no other tracks. Could be we've solved the mystery and can head back. I reckon they'll want the contents of that broken wagon as well. Will it all fit on your travois Doc?

Drannigan "Doc" Piper |

Whichever would be more conducive to hauling everything. Can I make an Appraise check or a Craft check to figure out how broke the wagon is and what it would take to repair it? I'm not really much of a carpenter. Maybe I'll put some points into that next level.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Thinking on it, no need for a roll - I'll assume that you can jury-rig a workable repair to the wagon with the kit and lumber readily available.
Though it you wanted to keep the wagon working after arriving back to Kalabuto you'd need to contact a wainwright and get an assist for final repair.

Drannigan "Doc" Piper |

"Actchually, this thing's salvageable." Doc says with a pull off his flask. "'Ere Wolves, gather round an' do what ah tell ye, we'll 'ave this crate rollin' in no time. First off, to o' ye' lift tha' front beam. We need t' git a strut under it so those wheel're off th' ground. An brace the back wheels so it don' roll on us..."
Doc continues to ramble about how to best repair the wagon, breaking out tools and passing them out, pointing out things for the squad to work on. In short order the broken wagon is road-worthy again.
"Only issue is who's gonna pull the thing." He says with a pointed grin, looking at Grusk.

Memluk "Blaze" Seljuk |

"I'm squad leader, and thus shouldn't been seen pulling a wagon, as that might give the wrong impression. Doc, you're the reason we got it working again in the first place, so you shouldn't be forced to pull it. Sentis and Dark will need to be our scouts, just in case and I'll need Kaavel with me if something bad happens. Hmmm, sound's like Grusk in the only possible canidate" He says with a laugh.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

While Grusk, Blaze and Doc discuss the relative benefits of half-orc drawn vs dwarf drawn carriages - Darkbiter catches a whiff of something upon the breeze. Pointing out some tracks to Sentis, Darkbiter passes on "There's some cattle close... might stop these guys fighting all the way home"
Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 Darkbiter is confident he can lead the squad to the cattle
All on you Sentis - A DC 15 Wild Empathy will get you a bullock to draw the wagon home without the crying ;)

Sentis Spinis |

AS the half orc explained his findings Sentis called on the Green Faiths Guidance to enhance his knowledge of the cattle breed for insight.
Knowledge/Nature - 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10
but was finding that he didnt know much about the herd animals of the plains. So he left Baran behind with the others and approached the bull tentively as he tried making soothing sounds.
Handle Animal - 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

A short distance away from the ankheg sinkholes, Sentis comes upon a solitary bullock. Approaching with care and sending waves of emotion towards the animal, Sentis is able to befriend it. Looking over the animal you find that it was once a wagon bullock but has been wandering free for some time. Coaxing and leading you are able to return with the cow in tow.
You now have a bovine power source for the wagon and can set off.
I'll update the trip home later tonight.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Doc sees the patient bullock secured to the wagon in short order and with some careful navigation you make it out of the nest of ankheg sinkholes and continue on your way back towards Kalabuto. With good weather and no diversions to distract you good time is made.
A few days of travel sees you arriving back to your barracks in the late afternoon. The Captain greets you from his smoking stoop yelling out "Corporal and Wolves, good to see you not dead... park the wagon over there and hit the barracks. I'll send for the Sargavan and call you when it's time for debrief." and with that he gives a half-salute and calls to a runner. He looks to have become even more gaunt and haggard in the short time you are away.

Memluk "Blaze" Seljuk |

"Course we're not dead, us Steel Wolves are made of sterner stuff than that." That said the Keleshite salutes the captain "We await debriefing in the barracks then, let's relax and enjoy what little downtime we'll have Wolves." Blaze says to his friends and squadmates.

Sentis Spinis |

Sentis had laughed atGrusk's humor. It was welcome after a somewhat melancholy end to their search for the poor wagoneers.
As they entered the compound and was hailed by the captain the druid couldnt but shudder.
Icy doesnt look good at all. Malaria does that to some people. Its too bad though.
He went right to a rain barrel, stripped off his gear and starteedd washing the grime of the road off. He even bathed Baran as best as he could although the now playful wolf tried to escape it.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Sentis - the man who greeted you was the Chelish Captain, you haven't seen Icy anywhere yet.
Settling his tired gaze on Grusk the Captain replies "Every day soldier, we get less come back then those that went out."
Sprawling through the barracks you note that the compound is relatively empty as it looks that most of the squads are out on missions. There are a couple of dice games going on, but the compound is relatively quiet.
After a half hour or so, Blaze is summoned to the Captain.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Turning to the Captain "We'll send another wagon to retrieve our rock salt... you can keep the broken one for firewood for all I care." before turning back to Blaze "So you are sure the mine is still workable... good, good - we'll send replacement workers immediately." He mulls something in his head for a few moments before stating to the Captain "Well I suppose that fulfills the terms, so I'll send a writ later for release of funds. Gentlemen" and with a cursory nod, the Sargavan leaves.
For clarity he's referrring to the rock salt on the wagon only, I'm assuming that Doc's personal supply is hidden well out of view and will be kept
"So Corporal with the paymaster out of the room, I'd have your unfiltered assessment of how things went down" looking over the Captain's table you can notice a small felt bag in it's centre that the Chelish man starts fidgeting with.
