Game Master Mark Sweetman

The Steel Wolves are a squad of the mercenary company the Blood Hawks. Currently stationed in Kalabuto, though the jungle calls....

I'll focus fire. My bomb hits just after grusk's arrow.

Minor Crab-beast

Between the combined work of Grusk's arrow, Doc's bomb and Kaavel's fists one of the wights drops unmoving to the floor.

Darkbiter takes a chunk out of the other before it retaliates against him....
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 plus DC 14 Fort or 1d3 ⇒ 1 Con damage

Action Tracker (Round 2): Kaavel, Blaze, Darkbiter / Wights, Doc / Grusk, ??, Sentis + Baran

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 - the second wight evades most of the blast from Doc's bomb.

Damage Tracker:
Left Wight #1: Dead
Left Wight #2: 11

HP AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Bombs , Init +

"Gettin' a little crowded fer me little friend here." Doc says pushing the moarter back on it's shoulder sling and pulling an odd looking thing, like a bowless crossbow, from a holster on his back. "Time fer yer maiden voyage, hon. Do me proud." He says to the strange weapon, sighting on the remaining dead miner. A moment later there was a thunder crack and a puff of smoke.

Sentis and Baran starting making their way through the debris littered tunnel. It didnt look like there was an opening for the druid to enter into the fray so he waited to see what happened.

Ready an attack if one breaks free and comes near me

Doc - remember there is a -4 for firing into melee.

Doc's bullet thunders into the creature's back - carving a ruinous path through broken bones.

Action Tracker (Round 2): Kaavel, Blaze, Darkbiter / Wights, Doc / Grusk, ??, Sentis + Baran

Damage Tracker:
Left Wight #2: 19

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

Once again leery of the creatures touch, Grusk once again uses his bow...

Composite Shortbow Attack
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Penalty for firing into melee included
Damage
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Grusk's arrow scythes into the remaining wight, though it is still standing....barely.

Sentis and Baran move closer to the site of the melee.

Action Tracker (Round 3): Kaavel, Blaze, Darkbiter / Wights, Doc / Grusk, ??, Sentis + Baran

Damage Tracker:
Left Wight #2: 25

"Look out for others, these things seem to be quite numerous." Dark suggests as he seeks to finish off the one in front of him, having been able to shake off the nasty side effect of it's previous attack.

Greatsword attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Greatsword damage 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 = 8
Bite attack 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
Bite damage 1d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + (1, 4) = 6
If he has flanking, add 2 each of the attacks.

HP AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Bombs , Init +

"Num'r'us?" Doc said as he slammed another round into his strange weapon "Wha?"

He glances around for new targets before going back to the wounded enemy. "One atta time, boys. We got this."

1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 2 touch attack

misfire.

No thundercrack follows the trigger pull. Only a dry puff of smoke and an unsatisfying click.

Doc blinks. "Aw, pyrite!"

As one has already been dropped you can modify to an attack if you so wish?

At present Darkbiter is on the other side of it, so you already have a flank without needing to move through threatened areas.

Male Keleshite Magus(Kensai Archetype)/5

Blaze lashes out with his scimitar, attempting to cut down the wight before it can hurt his friends again. First however, he imbues Sunstrike with some of his personal arcane power to make the blade more effective Spending a point from my Arcane Pool as a swift action to add a +1 enchantment to Sunstrike for 1 minute 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Crit confirm

1d6 + 6 + 1d4 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (2) = 13 damage. 2 of that damage is fire.

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

"I gotta be usen mah bow more often."

Minor Crab-beast

Kaavel's left jab sets up a right hook that sends the wight staggering into the path of a scimitar slash that severs an arm at the elbow. Gamely attempting to stay standing for a few losing moments, the wight falls to the ground - re-dead.

Out of combat.... for now....

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

"Tha went a bit mor our way.....loks like we found tha miners....DOc how many miners yah recon was in tha camp? Seems tah me tha number o miners might be a good clue o tha nummer o dead creature."

Grusk slings his bow.....

HP AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Bombs , Init +

Voice, how many people would that camp support?

Male Half Elf Wolf Shaman 5

It certainly explains what happened to the miner's but aren't we also after the fate of the missing caravan? Surely they didn't fall prey to these vile creatures. They wouldn't have even ventured down here would they? Did anyone see any evidence of a caravan? Well, besides the one we shared camp with...

Sentis's lack of expertise in this field was apparent. Hence all of the questions.

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

"So far we seen miners, anyone remember how many bunks were at tha camp? I figure tha beds mighten be an indicator o nummers, even if tha nummers was double tha."

"O', bugger..." Doc said blinking at Sentis' words. "Did anyone ask if'n tha' was the caravan?"

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

"I suspect they would have said something had they been the ones we were after." Dark carefully starts to cautiously move down the side tunnel axe ready for trouble.

Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Stealth 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Minor Crab-beast

The camp would have supported between ten and fifteen souls.
There was no sign of caravan or cart at the refining camp, but remember it has been some time and the large storm recently may have masked any trail.

The caravan you ran into was not the one you were looking for.

The tunnel continuing to the right widens a bit, and the raised path on the left pinches out - leaving only a 15ft wide path on the right hand side free of the water.

There is a central platform joined by bridge that holds a large metal contraption. It consists of a central shaft running from floor to ceilin, surrounded by poles that form a large cage around it. A trough runs along beside it.

Knowledge Dungeoneering / Engineering DC 12:
It looks to be a large crusher - used to separate salt from soil

DM Rolls:
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
1d20 ⇒ 6

Darkbiter:
Submerged within the water next to the bridge you spy another salt wight... you don't believe that it has spotted you specifically, but it has likely heard the rest of the squad.

Male Half Elf Wolf Shaman 5

Knowledge Engineering - Untrained - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Sentis eyed the contraption and couldnt for the life of him figure out what it was for.

What is that?

He was getting more and more uncomfortable underground but trusted in his more knowledgable squad mates. He held his light enhanced torch high and checked behind them as was expected of rear guard.

Perception - 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

Kaavel looks at the large metal contraption for a moment before shrugging. He than looks to the others to see what they make of the contraption.

Sentis Spinis wrote:

Doc shrugs. He'd seen many similar things before, but wasn't exactly sure what this one's purpose was. "Some kinda grinder. Might be fer making big rocks inta little rocks t' more easly move 'em, might be fer some kinda extraction process. There ought t' be some kinda storage containers or'a refinery room near 'ere. Whatever's in 'em 'll tell us wha' this thing's purpose is. Surprises me tha' it's inside. Guess whatever it's for 's weather sensitive."

"Looks tah take salt out o soil."

Minor Crab-beast

Waiting on Dark's reaction to his spoiler...
Or anyone who beats a 19 on Perception can also read it...

HP AC , CMD , Fort +, Ref +, Will +, Bombs , Init +

"Yeh, tha' makes sense. Hmm. Look around fer any containers. Some of th' byproducts o' salt refining are stuff ah c'n use."

My inner chemistry nerd is hopping and clapping at the prospects of what I might find here.

Minor Crab-beast

Might be worth waiting a little bit longer before ransacking the mine for associated minerals...

Though when the time comes, you will be able to ransack the mine briefly for minerals commonly found with halite deposits...

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

Sorry, was away from the computer yesterday. A side note, if you get a chance to see Spamalot, do so. It's a great show.

Knowledge (dungeoneering) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Dark doesn't say anything as he just descends upon the hiding wight, greatsword flashing through the air.

My brain was apparently still on Spamalot and Monty Python level humor.

Minor Crab-beast

Darkbiter charges forwards while the party speaks and brings his blade down upon another of the creatures hiding alongside the bridge... however he does not spot the one submerged on the other side, which now rises from the water to attack...

Action Tracker (Round 1): Kaavel, Doc, Darkbiter / Blaze, Grusk / Wights, Sentis + Baran

Damage Tracker:
Wight #1: 6

The two wights are only about 20ft in front of the squad, though both are in base to base with Darkbiter.
Bridge is about 10ft wide and the water is about thigh deep where the fighting is.
Spot for one person flanking the 2nd wight this round, then in round 2 assume you can flank if you want to.

You'll might have notice that I have started doing maps for my PbPs, but since these two should go down pretty quick, I haven't bothered here.... next fight however....

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

I've gotten to the point where I don't make maps for simple fights as well. Too much work for 1 round smashfests.

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

Kaavel curses after seeing the new undead attack Darkbiters. He than goes into his fighting stance before heading to attack one of the undead creatures.

If Blaze can attack a wight in melee, he will

Blaze darts into the fray, Sunstrike flashing out to slice into the undead creature1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

If melee isn't possible, he'll cast instead

Blaze, unable to get up close with the wight, utters a word of arcane power and two missiles fly from his finger tips to rip into the foul beast Casting Magic Missile for 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 2 = 8

Minor Crab-beast

Kaavel and Blaze both dart forward, landing solid blows upon the wight that arose behind Darkbiter.

1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Spoiler:

The extra bow use is an RP choice!

"Tha miners err minor threats."

Minor Crab-beast

The volley of assaults brings down both of the wights, leaving Darkbiter with a salty taste in his mouth and a craving for a pint of lager.

Out of combat, if you investigate the crusher - then Perception required.
Otherwise the tunnel continues on past the crusher...

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

"Docs fer lookin over tha crusher so Dark an I ken scout tha tunnel at least give yah some breathin room fer lookin."

Maybe one will jump out of the machine on Doc

Grusk readies his Axe knowin although he wants more practice with his bow the axe is a better choice.

Stealth
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

Perception
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Minor Crab-beast

Grusk and Dark - if he also scouts:
The tunnel continues curving beyond the crusher and you would need to move well out of view from the rest of the party to continue scouting... leaving you potentially exposed.

You do notice traces of a soft blue light coming from further down the passage....

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

Motions for Dark to wait there and moves back to tell everyone else about the glowing area ahead......

Will hold this point until everyone is ready to advance.

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

Stealth 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Dark will take up a position as far down the tunnel as he can while still seeing the party, axe ready.

Male Half Elf Wolf Shaman 5

Sentis coldnt believe that his hesitation had caused him to miss out on the second fight in as many minutes. He stayed back and guarded Doc while he looked over the strange machine. He knew Dark and Grusk would be alert up front so he kept checking their back trail. Baran was a silent shadow beside him.

Perception - 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Minor Crab-beast

Sentis spies a small bag tucked within the base of the machine. Opening it you find five small rough clear gemstones.

Male Keleshite Magus(Kensai Archetype)/5

"Blue glowing area?? Hey Doc, is there anything natural that could make such a thing? Or are we in for some possible trouble?" The Keleshite asks his Dwarven buddy.
