Darkbiter moves to the edge of the light peering out into the gloom with his darkvision. You can see that the chamber you are in does come to a square corner in both the SW and SE sides, but do not catch sight of any creatures.

The squad makes their way back to the central staircase.

Which direction are you heading from here - the noises were from the NE and NW most recently.

Kaavel watches as the others in the squad move out to look for anything in the room. When seeing Blaze and Sentis move toward where the sound was suppose to come from he follows behind them.

Grusk thinks about shifting the piles with his axe but quiclkly decides the morningstar is a better option....

Starting to rifle through the debris in front of me!

Picking through the debris you find a few mithril arrowheads that seem in good condition, and an throwing axe head in cold iron that has survived the ravages of time.
You think there is more in there, but it will take time to recover.

"Ok, seems like that sound is actually coming from both the north east and north west corners of the room. So we can either split up and investigate, go to one corner at a time, or walk right down the middle more or less. Personally, I suggest we split up, three to each corner, one in the center, and if there's anything we need to fight, we pull back to our middle man and kick their asses together, wolf pack style."

Sentis looks behind him and sees the reassuring sight of his fellow half elf with the deadly hands.

Its just the three of us Blaze. The others are looking through the refuse I think. Pick a corner and we're right behind you.

His grip will tighten on his scimitar and follow the fighter.

Doc nods at Blaze's plan and tromps to a point near the center. He sets down his strangely framed pack and reveals another use for it as he sits down on top of it like a sturdy stool and unslings Percussion Section. Planting the mortar and breaking out a good sized lantern to help shed some light on their searches, Doc puts a new cigar to his lips and says "Take yer time boys. Lemme know if ye need somethin' blowed up."

Close behind him; Sentis had his torch held high and a frim grip on his blade as he tried to determine where the sound was coming from.

NW Group:

You approach the corner of the room cautiously with your eyes peeled, and observe a creature nestled around a chest. The creature resembles a large skeletal snake, though it sports a cyclopean skull where the head would usually be. The fangs of the skull seem overlarge for the size. The sentinel is observing you but has not yet taken action.

NE Group:

You approach the corner of the room cautiously with your eyes peeled. As you close in, you see that the room has been damaged and crumbled somewhat. There were once weapon racks upon the wall but they have been destroyed by the fallen rocks.

Perception DC 20:
You hear the bony rasp off to the South

"Perhaps these are in place to stop people coming in from the other direction. They don't seem overly hostile at any rate. Perhaps one of us should look for an exit while the rest of us keep on eye on this thing."

You have heard of creatures such as these. They are called Necrophidius, and though appear to be undead are actually constructs. They are used as guards or sentinels and can lie dormant for thousands of years with only the simple instructions of the creator as guide to their actions.
Though the fangs are cemented into the skull, the poison they drip is very real. They are also known to be able to deceive the minds of those they face, casting soporific thoughts into their head.

"Best to take care around these things, the poison is real and they have some mind effecting voodoo they can do." Darkbiter says as he quietly curses that this is yet another foe that his blade is likely to do little damage to. With that in mind, he moves to check out the smashed weapons rack in hopes that something survived.

As Darkbiter moves forward to the detritus lining the walls, the creature surveys him with it's empty skull - but does not move from the chest it is coiled around.
