Looking for 1-2 more players. I have 1-2 already interested.

Will be starting out the game with Tatooine Manhunt as this is my first star wars game I'm running to get things going.

Will be using 1st Edition Classic Adventures rule set with some modifications (mini6 related mostly) to make combat a little smoother on PbP forums.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

Do you have more information on the rule set I can check out?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The link to all the books that will be used are on the Campaign Info tab. This will be using D6 Star Wars rule set with Mini6 Static Defenses. The Mini6 rules are in the House Rules PDF. This will make combat much faster so we don't drag on battles (when they happen) for 10 days waiting for everyone to do all their attacks/defenses.

I will try to get a character template picked out tonight. I've skimed the rules and will do a more detailed read later.

All good no super rush :)

I played this version around 20 years ago. It's been SO LONG. I confess, I am intrigued. I would love to pitch in a concept, but do you have any more info on the tone of the campaign? For instance, funny versus serious; mainly aboard ships vs mainly on planet; The Force is everywhere vs The Force? What is the Force?

I want to mix funny with a bit of serious sort of like the original series. Lot of good one liners etc... It will be a mix of space and on planet. There are really good rules for space combat which I do plan on using :)

The Force of course exists but those who have force abilities are either in hiding or really don't understand they have them because the Emperor and Vader are trying to snuff them all out or recruit them as Inquisitors.

Players can play force sensitive if they wish with force powers. Could be a padawan that survived Order 66, or just a kid that happened to find out they got some powers and was trained a bit by someone, or something as dark as you are a fallen inquisitor discarded by the empire starting out with dark side points.

All the players will be part of a small rebel squad. The Rebel alliance is starting to build up some steam at this point in the galaxy but not quite there yet. We would come up with a reason as to why each of you know each other and why your part of this rebel squad before we start.

Current draft is an ex-commando from the republic who escaped when the empire took over. He would have some force sensitivity but not looking to make him a jedi or do any powers to start off with.

you can start out force sensitive with no points into force skills. you would need someone to train you the first points if you ever wanted to learn force powers. Or you can start with 1 point in one or more of the 3 at character creation if you wished.

Keep in mind if your force sensitive your more susceptible to being turned to the dark side than someone who isn't :)

Looks good. The static defenses aren't dice but actual values that are used as Target Numbers to hit you in combat or damage you. So if your Dodge is 9 enemy would need a 9 or higher to hit you with a blaster on this attack and a 10+ to damage you with no armor on.

You can look at the list of Boons/Flaws in the Classic Heroes book if you want to add some extra quirks to your character. They give some bonuses and negatives.

We can modify the starting equipment from the template if you wish. Don't need to have a rebel uniform you probably don't want to be wandering around all the time looking like a rebel :)

The Vacuum Suit (Flight Suit basically) gives you a +2 to armor (soak) and you can spend your 1000 credits on whatever you want at start.

One thing I really like about this system is char creation is sooooooooo easy. chars setup in like 5-10 mins.

LOL, you and that MiniSix rules set!

I think I'll stay away from the boons/flaws. I don't see any that really fit this character. With my starting funds I'll buy a used speeder bike.

I'll think about a concept.

FYI Curt sent me a text asking me to run a Dark Heresy game. LOL.

You can get the IKAS-ADNO NIGHTFALCON for 1000 credits used.

Below are stats for it little different than the Starhawk listed in the Rebel Field Manual and it comes with a Laser Cannon :)

Color me interested, if there's still room. I'm not familiar with the Mini6 static defenses, but know the old Star Wars d6 from West End Games pretty well. I played a ton of that system years and years ago.

Here's my character, Rufus Griller:

Spoiler:

Rufus Griller grew up on Corriad VIII, a pleasant planet with a varied biosphere located in the Tangrene sector. His father, Royald Griller, was the construction foreman for a company specializing in duraplast buildings, causing him to move around a lot.
Rufus' prized possession was a T-16 Skyhopper, one he used while exploring the various terrains of Corriad. His younger siblings, Tash and Yeena, also got T-16s when they got older.
Rufus turned his T-16 joyriding into a business, ferrying messages and small packages across oceans, deserts, and grasslands. He also joined a Skyhopper racing troupe, which did aerial stunts and racing shows across the planet. His best friend and fierce rival was J.T. Keehax. Unfortunately, J.T. was involved in a midair collision with another troupe member during a show, losing his right arm and eye in the crash that cost the other pilot his life. J.T. retired, embittered, and Rufus quit the troupe, unable to shake the images of the fiery crash.
Returning to the courier service, he scraped by for a while. His first encounter with the Rebellion was during this time, ferrying a white-haired woman from one secret meeting point to another. They talked about the state of the Galaxy, and she sowed the first seeds of Rebellion in him. But he was stubborn, and they didn't take root for a long time.
The courier service dried up, however, so Rufus answered the call to service at 20 years of age. He entered the Imperial Navy as a cadet, hoping to be a TIE pilot. He was far from the top of his class, but he pulled through when it counted, and joined the 285th fighter group under Cmdr. Dayne Kresko.
The 285th was stationed at Freelanx Port in the Coolenth Sector, and saw little action. Dealing mostly with smugglers and spaceport infractors, Rufus was in a total of two combat missions where opponents shot back, and had no kills.
Despite that, it was a great time for Rufus. He goofed off, stole combat vehicles with his squad members to go on joyrides and hit nightspots, and played practical jokes on his superior officers. Rufus and his squad mates Manny Fomo, Turrip Ellogis, Kal Narin, and Lon Brenx lived the life of the hot shot pilot. Rufus had a long relationship with Lt. Trysti Perrins of Docking Control.
Frustrated by the "transparisteel ceiling," Trysti resigned her commission and left a broken heart in Rufus. His last word about her whereabouts is that she's working at a commercial dock in Hrglic space.
Rufus hid his sorrow in his practical jokes, and made a very serious enemies in Cmdr. Ivan Corresk and Major Ratrel Porgoficus. Corresk no longer presses his lips against any comlink, and Pofgoficus now knows without any doubt that an AT-AT cannot run on bantha dung. (There are still bootleg holos circulating of an Imperial walker actually "excreting.)"
When Rufus' tour of duty as a TIE pilot ended with very unglamorous marks, his application to officers' training was "misfiled," and he was out on his ear. Rufus found himself blacklisted in Imperial-controlled space. No local defense forces would hire him, but he did find some work flying cloud cars on Bespin. He hated it, and wasn't too sore that he lost his pilot's uniform in a game of sabacc. Arriving to work in civvies got him fired.
Then, while nursing his last drink bought by his last credit, an elegant white-haired woman sat down beside him. He accepted her offer and despite his lackluster record in the Empire's service, the Rebellion offered to keep him flying.

Stalwart I like the background. The skills are a bit messed up. There is no specialization in 1st edition like there was in 2nd. Read the Classic Heroes to understand how it works here. There are a set list of skills under each attribute and you only get 7 skill points to use unless you takes some flaws from Classic Heroes.

You can start with a Stock Light Freighter (could be your cells ship) but will have large debt just like in the Smuggler template (25,000).

Well, the stats were from an earlier submission for a game that never got off the ground. So that's fine if there's no skill specialization. Hadn't seen the Classic Heroes stuff before.

So, revised stats would be:

Drawback:
Former Imperial (+1D)
Although to be honest, I'd opt for something similar to that, but more of a "Screw-up," or reputation for being unreliable.

As for the starship, I'm not really feeling the light freighter. I went with the Brash Pilot archetype (with a little adjustment in the stats) -- I've seen editions of the game in which that archetype starts with a ship . I'm hopeful that at some point I'd get a starfighter, so I'm not crazy about picking up a huge debt just for a ship I'll trade in some day.

Gotal here was created for a Saga game Caps but I like his background.

Check him out see what you think and if you like him I'll adapt him to the MiniSix rules set.

This is the era about 15 years after Revenge of the Sith correct?

Gotal:
I'm not to familiar with Saga but looks like D20 system. The char seems like he has Control/Sense Force skills so when you create char make sure take 1 point in each when spending attribute points for those type of powers. There are a few Templates that have similar setup that you can look through in the Players Handbook and Classic Heroes so you can get ideas and yes will be about 5 years before A New Hope.

OK, I'll probably get to it Wednesday night.

Yep, Saga is d20 based.

Your little band of rebels will actually start with your own ship. See below. This would be the ship for the crew if you decided to play Stalwart and it could technically be yours as your the pilot. It's a Starfighter scale but a freighter still.

ALABAK’S GOLD
Craft: Alabak’s Gold
Type: Modified Calamari freighter
Scale: Starfighter
Length: 30 meters
Crew: Pilot, co-pilot, navigator, shields/sensors/communications operator,
two gunners
Passengers: 6
Cargo Capacity: 75 metric tons
Consumables: 1 month
Hyperdrive Multiplier: ×2
Nav Computer: Yes

Have you thought about using the second edition+ rules for the ship's sensors? I like the breakdown between passive, active, scans and focus.

If you've not seen it before, all ships with a sensor package (pretty much all of them) have four stats which list the range and die code for each type of sensor.

Passive is usually short range without much bonus, active is omnidirectional and a decent bonus, scan is the longest range and but is only one direction, and focus is short range but has the highest bonus to the Sensors skill.

Not to familiar with 2nd edition rules but 1st edition keeps it pretty simple and loose (that's why I'm choosing 1st edition for this game). The ship has a scan rating and you can add your com-scan skill to it to get certain information. The skill description in the GM book is pretty details on it's uses.

Don't want to be TOO bogged down in rules. Also another reason I'm using static defenses ala Mini6 rules for those.

Ok so right now it looks like we have (if you plan on sticking) 4 players.

Warsaw - Ex-Commando type character (possibly force sensitive)
Pedallion Geb - Speeder salesman (Brash Pilot template?)
Rufus Griller - Ex Imperial Starfighter Pilot (Brash Pilot template?)
Gotal of Umbara - Former Jedi hiding from the Empire

Nice group! Too bad I don't know Obi Wan is on this planet, could use training from a Master! :-)

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

I don't want to step on toes with Rufus as both Brash Pilot templates. I'll look at another template that might fit the Speeder Salesman better...

You can customize your template as well. The templates are just there to make it easy as example of different types of chars. He actually modified the Brash Pilot attribute skills a bit but you both basically have same type of starting equipment except what you spend your credits on.

For the static defenses they are a bit off.

Chris most of those books listed on the link are homebrew books. The Classic Adventure books were remade recently by the REUP team and is freely available. I"ll provide direct links to their site instead of through my dropbox account so users can grab the books.

BTW all the origial D6 WEG material is freely available at D6Holocron since WEG doesn't own the rights any longer and doesn't produce material.

thanks.

Players should get the Box Set Ebooks (except for the adventure book unless you want spoilers).

Just looked over the static defenses. Interesting idea. I think this is right for Rufus:

Dodge: 12
Block: 9
Parry: 9
Soak: 9 (11 in flight suit)

Is that right?

Yes sir. I wanted to use the static defenses to make combat faster so we don't have to roll back and forth for every swing or shot and wait 10 days for combat to finish. I've used this method in another game and it works well.

Stalwart
For your static defenses they would be as follows:
Dodge = 12
Parry = 9
Block = 9
Soak = 9 + Armor (+2)

So my plan is to actually start the game up sometime next week. Would like to try and finalize characters sometime this week/weekend and come up with reasons you all know each other and are part of the same rebel cell.

If you have backgrounds explaining why your with the rebels which some of you already posted great! just need to fit you all together as you will all be starting together.

Heh. Just now realized that Gotal isn't playing an actual Gotal.

Going to have to keep reminding myself.

Stalwart wrote:

Yeah, I came up with the name independently, likely I saw it somewhere as a race but did not realize it when I chose it for his name :-)

The players in the last campaign he was in thought it was pretty funny too!

If your characters are done or mostly done create new Avatar with the char sheet in the profile so I can just double check and be golden.

Characters thus far:
Gambling Speedster
Ex-Imperial Starfighter
Veteran Clone Trooper
Veteran Jedi

May just make this a go next week with the 4 of you if no other interest shown.

My character is almost done, I'm taking time to flesh him out some before submitting but the GM has been helping a lot with ideas which is great as it really feels like a collaborative effort to make the story.

Yes, this DM is excellent with that type of collaboration.

Do you want to intermingle our backgrounds or just have met on Tatooine?

I have my table top game tonight Caps, want to call me tomorrow night to finish reconfiguring Gotal?

I'll throw in, can't resist.... :)
I'll take a browse through the rules provided for inspiration...

Depends SS, which character are you?

Warsor wrote:

The Veteran Jedi!

Gotal is the Psion from the Dark Sun game :)

Spaz cool let me know what your thinking for character and I can help out with the rules. It's basically classic 1st edition rules using Mini6 static defenses for combat and a few other custom rules.

From a story perspective all of you know each other already. Your part of a rebel cell on a mission that I will outline once we are ready to play. Some of you may or may not know each other before joining up with the rebels. You all may not know everything about each other even though you have been working together for a few months.
