Perception DC 15 for the room

Spoiler:
Terrible things have happened in this room. There are telltale bloodstains in the corners and what looks like a blood splatter on the edge of the table that was washed off long ago.

--

As soon as Blackerly leaves the room, the woman's demeanor visibly changes. She drops all pretense of grief or concern. She is immediately all business.

"Have you truly forgotten me, Dearest brother? You must know I don't bake." she says with a smirk.

"Call me Tiadora. We possess a mutual friend who would like to meet you and your fellow cell-mates. Unfortunately, our friend is unwilling to visit you in your present rather ... shall we say shabby and lackluster accommodations. So, it seems you must escape.

"Oh, don’t look so dour. Just because it’s never been done before is no reason you can’t be the first.

She continues, locking your gaze with hers to make sure that you comprehend her words.

"If you manage that, cross the moors on the outskirts of town. On the old Moor Road you’ll see a manor house with a single lantern burning in the second story. There our mutual friend waits. Do you understand, my Dearest brother?"

It would be easier to get them to go to the manor if we had help from our mutual friend getting us out of this cesspit.

Your 'sister' smiles at this, it is not a warm smile.

"There are two reasons to think escape may be possible ... for a group that is clever and strong."

Tiadora takes off her veil and you notice her full and quite well formed lips. Then, she raises two elegant fingers.

"First, Branderscar Prison is going through, shall we say, a difficult patch. This weak, stupid kingdom does not give a high priority to the torture and death of those such as yourselves. The current Warden is an academic fool who is more interested in magical studies than in discipline, and the leadership of the guards has become lazy and corrupted, at best."

She smiles at you yet again, this time her lips part to reveal her teeth, which are perfect, small and white and very even.

"They've even let the anti-magic ward run down. I am sure you have noticed that humming in your head."

"The ward requires some rather expensive components to maintain, and that money has found its way elsewhere ... Oh, it still works, my Dearest. But it's far weaker than it should be, and only covers this single building instead of the entire prison. Some of your cellmates may be able to take advantage of that."
-
In Tiadora's left hand, where she holds her crumpled veil, you just happen to notice a golden ring with a rather large ruby. Now your no jeweler but you realize you could buy your own ship with that ruby!

Dru leers at the lovely lady and the ring even brings his eyes from her rather ample cleavage for a moment. Strong and clever, We will see. It's in my best interest to leave these lovely accomidations before my neck is streched. I am sure my cell mates will feel the same way. I guess we will find just how strong and clever we are. A ring like that would go along way in dealing with corrupt gaurds.

Varrel rocked three of those rolls

Varrel please read

Perception for the cell

Spoiler:
Excellent roll! Please add a notch for rolling a 20.

You are in is approximately 30' long by by 15' wide. The north and west wall is made of solid stone while the south and east walls open up into part of a much larger stone bunker. Each of the cells is separated from each other by massive three inch thick steel bars that are spaced too narrow for even a halfling to slide through. Through the southern bars that separate your cell from the rest of the stone bunker you can make out four other currently unoccupied prison cells as well as one stone reinforced cell that is next to you. There is a single cell door on the southern end of your cell that opened up into a wide hallway that connects all of the other prison cells as well as a door on the south end of the stone bunker.

Each of your hands are chained to a set of manacles set into the wall, while a single chain runs the length of the 30' prison cell that connects to each set of the manacles that have been placed on your feet. The feet manacles allow you to slowly shift about, and if everyone worked together you could all stand. This would allow you limited use of your hands. Enough for eating, and perhaps passing an object like a food bowl from hand to hand.

Now remember you are chained together in a rough semi circle or '[' in this order, clockwise from the bottom going back up.

Tokae by the south corner of the room, right by the door, then Drugoth, Weylin in the center with Kellen, followed by yourself, then finally Aletheia on the north corner of the cell next to the door again.

You study the manacles on your hands, with that Nat 20 you realize that they are rather old and not well maintained. One could break these manacles with a DC 25 Strength check. But that could possibly hurt the person breaking them as well as alert the guards if they were within hearing range.

You further notice, due to the similarities between each of the locks, you should have a slightly easier time picking them, once you free yourself.

If you free yourself that is, if only you could find something, anything that you could use to pick these damned locks!

-

Perception for the routine

Spoiler:

Over the last few days, the guards have been quite consistent in their patterns. Shifts start at 8 am, 4 pm, and midnight.

At the beginning and middle of each shift -- i.e., every four hours -- a guard opens the cell and checks your status, while a second guard stands watch a pace or two behind him. The guards also make occasional random checks; on average, you seem to get one or two of these per shift.

Food is brought about an hour after the beginning of the morning and afternoon shifts -- so around 9 and 5. A guard passes in basket of hard rolls and a jug of water in; you prisoners pass it around.

Before the cell door is opened, the prisoners are told not move until the cell door is closed again.

The guard only comes within arms reach of one prisoner, the one closest to the door who is handed the basket and jug. There are always three guards standing in the hall with weapons ready. One of them holds an alarm horn as well, ready to blow. Whenever the guards interact with a prisoner in any way, they are always wary and alert. They show no obvious signs of weakness.

The rest of the time, the guards leave you alone and stay in a watch room down the hall. The door to the watch room is open, so they can hear any unusual sounds; at the same time, you can perhaps hear them talking, if you are quiet and listen carefully.

The cell is a small room -- rather crowded now, with six of you in here.

Also there is another occupied room, somewhere further down the hall with another prisoner or prisoners; the guards go down there to feed him/her/them after feeding you.

Varrel's Sense Motive

Spoiler:
As he entered your cell, Sergeant Blackerly's bullying gaze is slightly vacant and he doesn't seem quite fully in command of his faculties. Possible hypothesis - he is under the effect of some enchantment, and some outside force is influencing his actions.

I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds

And back to Dru

Drugoth Reburn wrote:

'Men have died for even looking at my ring the wrong way, Dearest brother,'

While her smile never leaves her lips, Tiadora's eyes narrow, her eyes look into yours as if reading ... no, rather studying, your very soul. This woman does not make idle threats. And despite her ravenous beauty, despite the suffering you undergone these past weeks, and despite your inner strength, a thin chill of fear creeps down your spine.

She raises her left ringed hand, holding the crumpled veil, and deftly shifts the veil to her other hand. Before you realize it her ringed hand is at your throat, it is a strong, forceful grip and it is not as pleasant as you imagination allowed you to fantasize.

Tiadora speaks a single word (Dru what languages do you speak?) and unnatural warmth emanates from her ringed hand, and you swear there is scent of sulfur in the air.

(Dru you are healed for 1 HP)

I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds

-

As Drugoth feels his wounds start to heal, Tiadora continues.

"As I said, there were two reasons escape may be possible. Our mutual friend did want me to give you this, something to remember me by."

Tiadora deftly passes her free hand over her full lips, and the veil completely disappears.

Then with inhuman speed she lunges forward, quicker than a striking snake. Before you can react, she throws her arms around you and kisses you. Her tongue is small and sharp; it thrusts between your lips, pushing the crumpled veil from her mouth into yours. It is not in any way pleasant. It is in fact quite disturbing and afoul in its sensation.

Just as quickly, she releases you.

I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds

-
"A final time, if you manage to get out, cross the moors. On the old Moor Road seek a manor with a single lantern burning in the second story. There our mutual friend waits."

Immediately, with practiced ease, her demeanor once more changes and she is again a perfect picture of grief.

"Oh, no, no... it's too terrible ... I can't bear it!"

As if on cue the door opens and Sergeant Blackerly steps in again. He shakes his head. "I’m afraid it’s time, miss."

She looks deep in his eyes and says, "Thank you for letting me say good-bye. There’s no need to search my Dearest. You are such a good friend for letting me see my Dearest one more time."

"I am such a good friend," Blackerly repeats, his voice almost mechanical. He bows politely. "A pleasure, madam."

Tiadora leaves unveiled. Her eyes meet yours last time and she briefly gives you a smile. It is a wicked smile: you see there is malice in it, and mockery.

"Three days." Suddenly you hear her voice, clearly -- but her lips are not moving; indeed, she is turning away, leaving the room, sobbing as she stumbles down the hall. Yet her voice comes quite clearly into your mind. "Don’t disappoint me, Dearest."

Drugoth finds himself slowly rubbing the back of his manacled hand across his lips, as though he had just put his mouth on a wart covered toad or a scorpion. No ... it feels worse than that.

Dru holds the crumpled veil carefully behind his teeth. Blackerly and the guards are coming to escort him back to the cell.

I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds

-
His visitation concluded, Drugoth is prodded back to the group's cell once more by Sergeant Blackerly and the six other guards.

Once there you are roughly pushed down, both your hands are tightly shacked back to the wall and your feet are attached to the chain that runs the length of the cell. The once blusterous Dru says nothing as the guards put him back in his chains, he is in fact rather tight lipped.

As the guards leave the cell the door closes with a loud CLANK! before the guard cadre marches down to the end of the hall and slams closed the iron reinforced cell door. Amidst the gloom and darkness of the cell block you are left in chains, alone with the other prisoners.

(Dru there is inner heat coming from your wounds as they continue to heal)

I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds

-
And now the fun begins.

I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds

-

Drugoth listens for the door at the end of the hall to close then slowly opens his mouth and spits out a crumpled piece of fine cloth.

Once unfolded, it is the size of a very large handkerchief. It appears to be a lady's white silken veil made of gossamer cloth.

Only as it is held and closely inspected can you see small cloth patches of various shapes.

The tiefling has a point. Let's keep this simple. If any of you have the skill to pick locks, do so. Then let us use that window image to making an opening in the wall. We can then climb down with the rope - here or on a lower level and head for the bridge. I have no problem killing if needed but quick and fast will do us well. No need to masscure all the guards here...

Since it is Aletheia's first day as a resident of Branderscar he has not seen what the all the others have. There are alarm and signal horns on the side of almost all the guards you can remember. It would take a moment to call down the whole prison down on you.

There are several well armed and armored guards, far more than you could over come by taking them on head on. There would be a massacre, but not the one your side would want.
