The hill giant's feet splash into the clear liquid and he lands so that he is covered just above knee height in the stuff. He screams from the pain of the fall, and then screams again at his predicament. Then, he visibly begins to calm down, just as his legs begin to sizzle from the heat. You know, put some oregano down there, I bet we can get a nice stew going...

I apologize for being to unable to update the map with a coordinate system this weekend. I'll do my best to do so this evening. Also, my AC is higher from Shield and Haste.
Trusting Ruul to subdue the giant, he calls to Kallistiel and goes tearing off into the bear pack.
"Let our giant deal with their giant. We'll keep the riff-raff held off till then."
He rounds the first bear and slices into it as he passes, taking a central position to flank with multiple allies.
My intention is to move up to 60' to the north-western corner of the 10' square directly east of the closest bear. Will make an Acrobatics check if such movement will provoke. It is my intention to maximize the people benefiting from my flag, which only has a 30' radius. At that location, it should reach the ranger on the roof and anyone who engages in melee with the giant.

You do not make the Acrobatics check, so I have placed you in the corner adjacent to the bear's front left flank. Your attacks, and it's response, will follow. If you could please make a Perception check (free action), DC 10. If you make the roll, I will describe its response in a follow-up post.
Your slice goes deep (crit confirmed...barely, see tracker) into its flank. However, as you start to bring Sandstorm back from its arc, you feel something hit your arm...

I didn't see the red stuff on the map before, but I see what you mean. It's a little difficult to see which column and row is which so I may have mentioned the wrong ones. Kalli is at row 41, column 23. Moving diagonal 3 spaces to r38, c26 uses 20 ft of movement. From there going straight up past the red (pit?) to r32, c26 is 30 move, then diagonal (2nd diagonal) 1 space for another 10 ft to r31, c27. Does that work?

No, but only because you were not aware that the attack was coming. You will be able to deflect the next one by giving up an attack to do so.

"Be careful with these bear-thingies. They have an innate defense mechanism that makes poking them with sharp sticks decidedly un-fun," Kallistiel calls out to Numair.

(That ought to make its auto-attacks a lot less painful.)
The other bears are moving into their current position on your initiative, but you go first, due to your higher Dex.
Original attacker, designated 'Bear 1', Will save v, hex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 fails his save.

Round 3, Init 18
** spoiler omitted **Continuing around the bear, Numair steps towards Calendir, dropping his wand and using the Everlight's healing on himself. Then, he attacks the bear with his full fury.
5 ft. step; free action: drop wand; swift action: lay on hands; full round action: full attack with pirahna strike, battle flag, battle dance, and haste.
You are fully healed, and you hit the creature once, provoking one AoO.
Auto-attack v. AC 25: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Confirm CH, Auto-Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
'Can he really roll 3 nat 20's in a row?' 'Are you feeling lucky, punk? Well, are ya?': 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Critical Damage, A-A, minus 2 points for remnants of Greater Mercy: 2d6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 - 2 = 4
Your attack on 'Bear 1' does not change who it is attacking this round.

Ruul casts another spell as he prepares for the possibility that the giant might escape the pit.

Is this the bear Elen hit with Misfortune? If so, both the attack and the CH confirmation need to be rerolled, and the worse result taken.
Macavity the black
Round 3
Macavity watches the giant who appears calmer hoping that the fight can end peacefully. He delays acting until he knows more information.
Kallistiel Illuiadlara
Round 3, Init 15
Kallistiel shifts her stance and sneers at the uncouth methods of the bear's masters and thrusts her rapier into the creatures vitals, hoping to sever the musculature that causes the infernal twitching spikes.
Swift action to enter Snake Stance
Full attack: defensively, combat expertise, haste, Numair's battle flag
After flurry of attacks, 5-foot step NE (if bear dead) or W (if bear not dead)
If the Bear #1 should die before the attacks are completed, use other attacks on the other nearby bear.
Attack #1: 1d20 + 15 - 2 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 15 - 2 - 1 + 1 = 33

Damage #2: 1d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 1 = 14

Damage if crit #2: 1d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 1 = 15
If I give up my third attack to deflect the auto-attack, do I still get a regular use of the Crane Wing? If not, she'll use the third attack and save the Crane Wing for a possible much more powerful attack from one of the bears. If yes, then ignore attack #3 to deflect auto-attack, and still have Crane Wing for main bear attack.
Attack #3 (from Haste): 1d20 + 15 - 2 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 15 - 2 - 1 + 1 = 27
Damage #3: 1d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 = 12
Question: Is there a normal method to avoid these auto-attacks?Acrobatics, etc.? Or is it pretty much, ranged attacks are the best idea?
AC=25 (incl Haste)
HP=56/63
Haste
Snake Stance
Crane Stance/Crane Wing to deflect melee
Deflect Arrows to deflect ranged
Note to self. Make sure Kalli gets that mage armor every morning, lol.

Mighty Gurg, be calm. We have no desire to fight with you and ask that you stop the orcs and bear-things to stop their fighting with us. Talk to us so that we can know the story of the caravan. If you were attacked we wish to avenge you.

I did attack the same bear you hexed. It might depend on if the auto-attack happens on Numair's init (18) or the bear's init (10), as I think Misfortune would start affecting it on your init (also 10). I'm not sure when the auto-attack happens.
Elen Emerwen
Oh right, lost track of the rounds again. Probably happens on your init in which case that doesn't matter. Next round, though. Next bear they fight, maybe Numair and Kallistiel should hold off on attacking until Elen can misfortune and cackle.
Elen Emerwen
Elen and Ally should be at (30,31) ~10 feet above Numair (within the range of his banner and bonuses). Edit: to clarify, by above, I mean vertically in the air, not on the map.

Hey guys, sorry for not posting this in the discussion thread, but I figured everyone would see it here faster. I'll be in and out the next few days, I'm dealing with a family crisis that involves some hospital time. I'll be able to post and play catchup later this morning, but I'm probably not always going to be available. Sorry everyone.
