Lord Manticore |

just got home from work, let's see if I can get everyone in one shot:
@Ruul: my apologies on the map; I meant to say north to south, but it was getting late. The current positions are correct. Noted on the remove fear effect.
@Lavinia: you are no longer shaken.
@Azaraunt: Noted the spells cast; Kallistiel has +4 AC; all, including Macavith (note below) have acid resist 20.
Elen/Ally: Noted shield: both have +4 shield AC; noted mage armor on Ally (+8 AC total); noted fly on Numair; noted enlarge person on Ruul only, you are now 12' of schlong-swinging awesome!
Macavity: He will take the rounds to move to the rest of the party, moving unobtrusively.

Ruul Spiritskin |
At this point I'm sure everyone's seen Ruul's bullhood. The only difference is now he's ENLARGED.
Ruul looks down as his already brawny form grows and expands to giant proportions.
He nods his thanks to Elen for the spell and then looks onward for approaching attackers.

Ruul Spiritskin |
If the dragon isn't going to attack us, I believe we're going to ignore it and go fight the gargoyles.
Are we going to need a different map?

If that is the case, then yes. I can wrap up Malerix in a couple more posts, and if no one reacts, then we'll move on.

Dracoliches are extremely rare on Golarion, although they are known to appear in other worlds of the Golarion system. Much like a lich, a dracolich uses a phylactery to place its soul into, while 'living on' in an undead form. Unlike a lich, however, the dracolich retains it full HD (it does not have a CON score, being undead, so no addtional hp from this source).
While the dracolich retains most of its abilities while it was alive, it does also gain the ability to paralyze its victims. The dracolich in two ways: through a gaze attack and through the physical attack of its claws.

Digory Odgers |

Huffing and puffing, Digory thinks to himself, not for the last time Why am I doing this? He has a hard time running more than a few yards at a stretch because of his condition, but his stubbornness wins over. Finally, he is able to hail a ride from a guard who is also riding from his post at the docks, up to the castle. He sees the party and hops off, just in the time to see the dragon flapping his way over towards the party.
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
He feels his bowels turn to liquid as the great beast comes forth. Malerix says his piece. Please tell me we're not going to fight this thing, are we?, Digory thinks.
Digory is shaken for the next 24 rounds.

Ruul Spiritskin |
Guys... He's right there. We are the heroes. We should attack him! :D
What's the saying, 'Let sleeping dragons be...' =P
Besides, you're the only one that can reach him. If you want to attack him, go for it.

"I would suggest we don't go all out when we battle the gargoyles. Obviously the dragon wishes to get a measure of our abilities before attacking us at a later date, so we should be sure to save some surprises for the foul beast."

Ruul was helping Digory along.

Oh fine, just take away his ability to look suspicious when he comes riding up like the Lone Ranger. :P I corrected the post.

All three shots go wide, but the dragon does notice them. He turns around and looks at you. Is that a challenge, little one?

Elen Emerwen |

Calendir's question of vulnerabilities is followed immediately by his loosing 3 arrows at the creature. Elen gasps at his impetuousness, but answers him, "It's undead, so it has all the usual vulnerabilities and immunities of such creatures. It's basically a dragon that's turned itself into a Lich, so it has no soul in its body, but its soul is stored in a phylactery somewhere, probably miles away in a safe location. Even if a lich physically destroyed, the phylactery recreates its body. I'm not sure how long that takes, though."
Elen wishes for a blessing of Luck to fall upon Calendir. He's going to need it... by Elysium, we all are! Fortune hex on Calendir, 1 round duration.

Ruul Spiritskin |
"I don't believe that was wise", mega-Ruul rumbles from above.
"Spread out!" the minotaur bull bellows while gesturing with his extra massive arms.

My first roll was a 19 and I missed...
Calendir stares unbelieving at how that first shot missed - That was almost a perfect shot... he mumbles to himself.
He will hold his action, if the dragon moves in their direction, he runs for cover.

Ruul Spiritskin |
"No Lavinia, stay away!" Ruul bellows as he kneels down and shields the priestess with his body.
Ruul doesn't know that this is only hitting Cal.

The wizard has handed you 40 flaming arrows Calendir - Please use them. :P I think I have posted that I was doing this at least three times. Of course you have to hit to add that d6 of fire.

As the arrows are shot and the dragon notices, the wizard's readied action of Haste goes off. Everyone is hasted and has 20 points of acid resistance.
The wizard calls out in in anger to the dragon.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35 What has the dragon tried to do to our ranger?

@Lavinia: Hmmmm he was not THAT far...
@Azaraunt: I have been using the flaming projectiles ;)
Ruul, Lavinia, get yourselves to safety! And Lagash go hide! And hide WELL!! he roars at his friends, sensing impending doom.
Calendir meets the Dragon's gaze head on - Good thing that you are in my head - that way I do not need to scream at you how wretched you are - bring IT!
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 +4 if it is fear and still close enough to Numair / +2 if Lavinia's Protection from Evil goes off in time
OUCH!

Your scorching ray's bounce off harmlessly. Malerix looks over in your direction and says (telepathically still) Stay put Wizard, I don't want you thinking you have a shot in this fight.
Ruul, you are currently protecting Lavinia, as you stated, so all three of you are going to be hit by the breath weapon. Ruul, Lavinia, and Azaruant all need to make a Reflex save, DC24, to partially avoid the breath weapon.

The protect from evil did go off in time, but I am afraid that it is not a fear effect this time.
You feel as if your muscles have turned to heavy stone and you are unable to move. Even your eyeballs feel heavy but at least you can look around You are paralyzed for the next 20 rounds, but you can roll again, DC15, next round.

Haste will add +1 to your reflex save.
As an immediate action the wizard brings up an Emergency Force Sphere around himself and Lavinia. I believe Ruul is too large to fit into the 5' radius sphere, but if not it will include him too. If others are close to Azaraunt he will include them too. He should be able to get 4 normal sized people in the dome.
Emergency Force Sphere
School evocation [force]; Level sorcerer/wizard 4
CASTING
Casting Time 1 immediate action
Components V
EFFECT
Range 5 ft.
Effect 5-ft.-radius hemisphere of force centered on you
Duration 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw None; Spell Resistance no
DESCRIPTION
As wall of force, except you create a hemispherical dome of force with hardness 20 and a number of hit points equal to 10 per caster level. The bottom edge of the dome forms a relatively watertight space if you are standing on a reasonably flat surface. The dome shape means that falling debris (such as rocks from a collapsing ceiling) tend to tumble to the side and pile up around the base of the dome. If you make a DC 20 Craft (stonemasonry), Knowledge (engineering), or Profession (architect or engineer) check, the debris is stable enough that it retains its dome-like configuration when the spell ends, otherwise it collapses.

The adult large dragon I ran against a 9th level group had an AC of 36 BEFORE it cast Shield. - Question LM- did the scorching rays hit the touch AC and the SR prevent damage or did the rays actually miss?

![]() |

Calendir steadies his mind against the expected onslaught. He can feel the pungent undead smell on the dragon, even from this far away, he can hear the screams of the combat against the gargoyles hundreds of feet away.
But he can sense more... He can smell the river and the grass beyond that, outside the gates, its smell brought by a chilled breeze, and he can hear Lagash softly padding away, obeying his commanding tone to hide...
You can take this Calendir.

Ruul Spiritskin |
I'm going to ask that you not emergency force sphere Lavinia as that invalidates Ruul protecting her in the first place...

Yes, it did easily hit the touch AC, but it's SR made it ineffectual.

Lord Manticore |

Ok, so if I am correct, the roll should be:
Will Save: 1d20+6+2
Let's see... :D
You feel your muscles tightening, almost under their own accord. You see the dragon looking at you and wonder if his gaze is going to paralyze, make you pass out, or just kill you. Before you have a chance to debate it, your muscles loosen again and you feel normal.
