Anyone heard from Beldrek? It just occurred to me that it's been a while since Beldrek's last post and I was concerned.
Alaria
Hey guys.
Because it is a very strong possibility I will fail chemistry despite my best efforts, I am studying my ass off. I am so sorry I have been gone for so long, but after next week, its up to the professor. Pray for me and send me good vibes, because I am sinking in a sea of stress.

I went back and read our original instructions, and I don't think discrete was mentioned at all. Plus I simply don't think our group is capable of taking a stealthier approach, I don't believe anyone has the capacity to render us all invisible or alter all our appearances. So I think our best bet is to get in the tower ASAP.
"Your first target rests on the outskirts of Chaulnazeen's agricultural sector, to the north." she points at a higher cave, separated from the main cavern. "In that cave, House Lito tends the rothe - but that's not all they're tending. Our spies have reported that House Lito has discovered an old teleportation portal that leads to a distant country on the surface, and have covertly been providing House Kashi with top-quality slaves and trade goods captured from the lesser races on the other side. Disrupt that portal and kill any who stand in your way, but don't hunt the House to extinction. Better to leave House Kashi in bed with a weakened House than to destroy it completely."

The greater mission against House Kashi requires "a more subtle approach," so that's what I've been operating with. Plus, I'm a stealthy assassin-type. :-)
Once we get a little breathing space, we should discuss a better plan of attack. Up to now, we've basically been winging it. We have a healer, a few melee beatsticks, a diplomancer, and a couple stealthies. Plus lots of skills amongst us. We can be really versatile, but we're going to need a more formal party plan, in my opinion.

Regarding the rings I was under the impression they essentially just allowed us to zipline down, do they have some means of allowing us to defy gravity? I know there was a featherfall effect emntioned, but that would not seem to allow us to use them to climb.
DM Frogfoot
I tried to explain it in-character so the nuances of how the rings work were not clear, my apologies. I intended them to be fun, powerful, useful tools. Here's what I intended you to know about how the rings work:
You speak the command word, and two ropes spring into existence. These ropes will seek out the nearest flat surface in a straight line away from the ring, wherever the ring was angled. This means that if you angle the ring a certain way, ropes will attach to the floor and ceiling. It's always on a flat plane with the ring's initial angle.
When these ropes attach themselves to the flat surfaces they touch, the wearer of the ring becomes weightless, and the magic of the ring zips you across the rope. No external momentum is required though it can make you go faster if you choose to retain body weight and are at a downward sloping angle. Thus, if Muhoro chose, he could angle the ring so that the ropes attached to the ceiling inside the window, and zip up that way quick as you like.

It has been a long day of RL, Work and stress, even though i'm not supposed to work weekends, they threw a project on late in the week due monday and after it was almost done threw a curveball that made it invade the weekend. They wanted it done yesterday when they asked for it. My brain has gone numb and I can not think straight. I'll post when I can think (hopefully in the morning), again, sorry for this. Also, wasn't sure if Zayva's last action was processed, hence a reason why I've waited as well.
Zayva
@Aleria and Alec: At least you are stealthier than Zayva?
Zayva
Yeah, Zayva stubbed her toe, likely tripped over something... Possibly got her wings or horns caught... Yep. Perfect example of stealth right there.
Zayva
Part of why I haven't posted with Zayva (besides life getting so chaotic on me) is that I was waiting to see what the result of her last stealth check caused. She was even klutzier than the one that sent her behind the statues.
Alaria
These rings are useless for me. I cant use 'em because they are command word activated. Anyway we can work something out?
Zayva
Is the command word for the rings something that even if my curse kicks in I can say? Or is Zayva just out of luck in those instances?
DM Frogfoot
Hmmm, interesting idea, I hadn't thought of that. "Chaon" is not a word, per se, it's an arcane command phrase, like a computer password. Also, your curse's text specifically stipulates that this does not interfere with spellcasting. I'm interpreting that to mean you can activate your ring in combat normally.
Zayva
Good to know ^^ I know it does interfere with things that are language specific like Charm Person and Charm Monster if they can't understand me. Wasn't sure if it was language specific or not.
I'll treat things with command words like that as if it's spell casting then.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I know Christmas kept me busier than I was expecting ^^

Congrats guys! I'm going to be without internet starting soon for the next 24 hours or so. Glad you are back frogfoot!

Okay, so lots of gameplay stuff since we've been gone. Looks like there was a combat, and now alarms are going off? Last thing Alaria and I had said was that we were waiting in the storeroom for a little bit, so what do we know? Was the fighting on our floor? I'd been planning to head to the right and check out the four doors and the rightmost hallway.
tl;dr: The post volume's left me a bit confused about what's going on and how it affects the 2-person assassin group. :-)
Siri Aponavicius
We've just come back into the roof with two bodies, as we examined one it produced somekind of alarm and managed to push it. We think we might know the portals location though, under a lake and found a couple of potions of waterbreathing. So it looks like time to get out of dodge!

I had all the best intentions of posting today. Then, work decided today was going to exhaust all of us. Tomorrow is not looking much better, but I will try to get something up tomorrow after some sleep. Sorry for delaying things.
