Somia
"Anything we can do to help, we've been on this island so long that I think dear Charles here has gotten bored of even my looks and talents." Somia steps a little closer, palms outwards in a show of nonviolence. "I'm good at making people feel better" she breathes, words laden with promise.
Viviana Masters
"Careful, Jack might decide he wants a foot rub next..." Viviana remarks with a trace of amusement.
"That said, if you want to tag along, you are welcome to do so, I don't see a problem with taking you guys away from this island"
Aishe Kaleja
Aishe smirks. "Well, we can't exactly guarantee civilization. When we get to the ship, you'll likely be press-ganged, if you're not thrown overboard for entertainment," she looks at Somia, "or taken to the captain's quarters for his own." She looks away again, "The only reason we're here at all is that we need fresh water for the ship and the captain isn't willing to drink conjured water." She closes her eyes and shakes her head, "The only bright spot in all of this has been that we have made friends among the other crew members, and it is two of those friends that were taken in a raid on the ship last night by, apparently, the same sea creatures I saw through that." she says, pointing to the spyglass.
"Speaking of which..." she gets the spyglass from its mounting place in the window, then begins making her way toward the creatures.
Charles Beecroft
Charles to indicate the island as whole, before commenting dryly.
"Have you seen this place? Almost anything will be a step up, although I agree what you suggest would not be my first choice, but since it is the only option currently on the table, I'll take it."
Aishe Kaleja
As she moves forward, Aishe says, "It's not that bad." After the sounds of exasperation fade, she continues, "Well, I'm not saying I'd like to build a summer home here, but the trees are actually quite lovely."

Sarrien looks to the rest of the party. There looks to be quite a bit to study here. Go ahead without me. I will try to catch up later. The tiefling bends down and begins taking notes on the decayed body before him as Xavier watches perched nearby. It was very nice to find some friendly and live occupants on this diseased isle. Just beware of Mister Plugg and Scourge.
If he comes back I still have room for him
The party makes it's way back down the trail and follow the coast along to the point that Aishe saw through the spyglass. Just ahead the party sees a narrow tunnel running between the sea and the open cove. The tunnel leading into the cave is completely submerged in water. The water churns within the narrow space against the sharp rocks.
Viviana Masters
Viviana observes the water for a moment, before flashing a quick smile "Anyone feel like getting wet?"
Turning to observe the rest of the party, she weighs up the new arrivals. "How good are you both at swimming, as I guess I could dive in with a rope around my waist, and thus pull you through the water if you felt insecure in the water"
Aishe Kaleja
Aishe takes a moment to check her pack and cast light on her magical boarding pike, then dives into the water, testing herself against the currents.
Swim (Take 10): 10 + 8 = 18
This is basically just a test to see if taking 10 is reasonable here - DC for rough waters is generally 15, so I'm guessing so.
Somia
Before continuing on Somia retrieves her pack, from the watchful eye of Maradya, introducing the monkey to her new-found companions. "This is Maradya, my loyal companion, friend and bodyguard." the small monkey looks imperiously at the newcomers.
"Swimming was never my strong suit I'm afraid. Though if not weighted down I can keep my self afloat."
Somia
With a mischievous smile, Somia says "Are you sure it's appropriate to be giving me rings, we've only just met." Somia unslings her pack, instructs Maradya to guard her things and looks once more to Jack, "Would you help me out of my armour, it's a little restrictive for swimming."
Somia
Slipping out of her armour (with Jack's aid) Somia slips her belt back on and fastens her dagger to it, leaving the rest of her gear under the watchful eye of Maradya.
If we can take 10 on Swim, then it's 16 with the ring

The three women in the party dive into the rough waters, swimming through the cave entrance with ease. Upon reaching the other side they see a high cliff surrounding a deep cove churning with dark seawater as fresh air comes in from a hole in the ground from above. The hole seemed hidden from fallen brush and trees.
It looks like in this cavern you are able to stand at low tide
Charles Beecroft
Charles sighs.
"Already, everyone is trying to leave me. Was it something I said?"
;-)
He then gathers himself up, and dives into the water.

All members make it through the cave entrance unscathed. Beyond the wide open expanse the party sees that the cavern splits in two directions leading north and south

GM Roll: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 4 = 9
The tunnel leading into the natural tidal cavern is decorated with the jawbones of numerous frightful-looking fish, resembling the throat of some hideous aquatic creature. Upon entering the tunnel Aishe sees a large group of the same unsightly creatures from before. They resemble a goblin from the waist up and a greasy octopus from below. The creatures seem to be writhing in hiding in the seaweed below, lying in wait.
This caverns are kind of odd as it is a 3D environment. Just remember that each space is 10 feet. The Monsters are under the water 10 feet. It is in fact low tide so the map at the bottom is just there to show the distance of the water during high tide and low tide. As a quick reminder to underwater fighting if you so wish to dive under after some creatures, which does include chest deep water which is as such.
Movement- A successful swim check allows a creature to move 1/4 speed as move action or 1/2 speed as full round action.
Combat- A successful swim check is as follows: Slashing / bludgeoning= -2 attack and half damage ; piercing damage is normal
Failed swim check- Makes you off-balanced which makes the character lose it's dex bonus for that round to AC while opponents additionally gain a +2 to attack against off balanced characters.
I can post the underwater combat ruling in the campaign info for a short time while you need it if you would like.

need a swim check at beginning of each round if you move from the spot you currently are at. As of right now you are on top of the rocky floor but once you enter this cavern need a swim check each round for underwater combat ruling.
Aishe Kaleja
Oh, then never mind about the moving, unless switching with Jack is an option. I'm not against making the swim checks, but if I don't have to, I'll avoid it.

Somia begins to chant as she weaves a complex spell while Charles and Viviana prepare Themselves for the creatures.
Aishe begins to sing a rousing song as her boarding pike extends to astonishing lengths.
Aishe- It is actually knowledge (dungeoneering) if you happen tohave that I will use the same roll. :)
The creatures swim forward. Aishe deftly cuts down three of the creatures before they even reach the party allowing only two of the hissing creatures to be able to reach Jack and Viviana.
Tentacles swarm all over them as the struggle to keep their footing. Jack is able to regain his footing quite easily as Viviana stumbles to the rocky floor beneath her, tentacles sliding all around her

As her boarding pike returns to its normal size, Aishe thrusts it at the creatures attacking Jack and Viviana. Then, readying herself for another wave of attackers, she extends her boarding pike once more.

Somia finishes her spell as three of the four creatures fall asleep sinking to the bottom of the water in an almost lifeless state.

Somia's spell went off first while there was still four bunched up there but Viviana killed one as did you. Which is why there was four there at the time. In which case Viviana killed hers and you stepped in with the delayed action.
Charles Beecroft
No, I understand that two of the four have been killed; I just thought that what happened, based on what you posted, was: Somia put three of the four to sleep. Charles stepped forward, and killed the awake one. Vivana killed one of the sleeping ones. That should leave two sleeping ones, and no-one else?
GM Tyranius
|
It looked like this.
Round 1- Aishe killed 3 with her AoO with her extended boarding pike leaving 5/8 creatures remaining.
Round 2- There is a group of 4 grouped up near the party and 1 creature further south. Somia's sleep spell hits the group of 4 knocking out 3/4
Viviana kills one of the sleepers giving you the chance to step up and kill the non-sleeper of the four overall leaving the one in the south to still be active. So leaving 1/8
@ Viviana- Yes that would stop the AoO on you from standing as the sleep would have gone off first.
I post some actions sooner as to help speed things up. To help alleviate the confusion on the fights with quite a few enemies I have just downloaded a token system That I can assign a colored ring to each creature. Thjis may help with future combats with 8 or more enemies of the same type.
