"You're right. Everything we've been through has led up to this. We can't hold back, if we don't take down Bonefist he'll lead The Shackles under," Marnir agrees, teeth gritted at the thought of Bonefist staying in power.
"Let's get after him," he says, bringing the others together at the same time as the draws magic through himself and into the planes beyond, to allow them to travel through space. A sudden lurching sensation and a brief bout of nausea later, and the group appears on the other side of the lake.
There were no objections, so let's hope dimension door gets us across safely.

And since Kung's minimum damage is enough to kill him he dies. Did I say something about him being tougher than the others?
You did, and now I'm not convinced that was true...
As Kung cuts down the shark captain Marnir stoops to wipe the blood from his axe on the dead sharkman's trousers. "I'll have these," he says, pulling the sharkman's valuables from his body. "Right then, let's keep going and see if we've caught up to Bonefist yet. He can't be far ahead, he's probably hiding somewhere like the coward he is."
Everyone happy to keep moving?
Marnir Saltvig |
"Might be trapped I suppose," Marnir replies, picking up on Niobe's unease. "Let's go carefully," he says, moving cautiously along with Cally, scanning the creaking boards for any hazards.

Looking ahead suspiciously Marnir easily spots the two creatures lurking under the waters of the passage.
This hideous cross between a lobster, an octopus, and a human threatens enemies with powerful claws and writhing tentacles.
What is your response? They are under the water at the moment. Waiting for you to advance along the planks.
Marnir Saltvig |
A writhing shape beneath the water catches Marnir's eye and he holds up his arm to stop anyone advancing further along the walkway. "Move back," he mutters under his breath, "there's some unholy looking things down there." He starts slowly walking backwards towards solid ground, keeping his eyes fixed on the undersea beasts.
Marnir Saltvig |
Does no one have Knowledge Planes?
Looks like Cally does.
Marnir Saltvig |
Like Cally I'm wary of GM "hints", but in this case I suspect it might be the better option than whatever tentacled horror lurks in the water.
The thrashing and churning in the water below stops rather more quickly than Marnir expected, and with the swift despatch of Niobe's elementals he turns to the others to say "Let's try the windows at the back." He moves cautiously back into the cabin and looks around for another way through. "We could try that door?" he asks, pointing with his axe at the door that seems to lead out northwards.
Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |
Since his Captain... King now, remember. Marnir King now. Since his King isn't commanding him into the water to deal with the threat, Kung lets his rage die away; with it, the tapping on the wooden planks ceases as well. He follows the others back into the seahold, and readies himself to bash a door or bust windows, whichever Marnir commands.
I see a single door out of H1 (to the east), or the two windows in H3, as our choices here.
GM_DBH |
I was being snarky. As in 'You can take the simple way I suppose."
And I completely missed the door at H1! Yes you can stroll though there. Spying through the windows is a good idea though.
Looking through the slits in the windows at H3 you see a large area.
J. THE SEA CAVE
The caves open up into a vast flooded cavern, lit by flickering flames on the ceiling. To the north, a stone building stands on a rocky shore above the water. Two more buildings sit on the water along a wooden pier extending into the water to the east. A threemasted sailing ship floats at the end of the dock. A second pier runs south from buildings on the dock to a rocky promontory on the far side of the channel. The cavern stretches east into the distance, but no passage to the outside world can be seen.
This sea cave stretches for hundreds of feet to the east. The ceiling is over 100 feet tall in the center of the cavern, and numerous continual flame spells on the ceiling provide dim light throughout the entire cavern. The sailing ship is Kerdak Bonefist's flagship, the Filthy Lucre. It is crewed and they are watching the area now that the alarm has been raised!
What now?
