Genta fails to trip the fleeing elf.
Ksarress begins pulling on the Sky Key, but before he can make any progress with Ivan's help, the mists within the circle shift more swiftly as arcs of electricity fly higher and farther from the circle. The powdered metal that makes up the ring shakes and flies outward buffeting against those close to the circle like blown sand. With the gust of metal, comes a huge burst of electricity that forms into a creature. Sound emanates from the circle; the sound of two odd booming voices.
For now, please only read the spoilers of languages you can understand.
"Hey, that's my shiny thing!"
"No, it's mine!"
"Wait, we're free."
"Why are we still in here then?"
"There's the shiny thing."
"But that thing has the shiny thing."
"Why are we speaking so they can understand us?"
"Well how should we be speaking?"
"Així."
"Ei, en pidä, että yksi. Katsotaanpa käyttää tätä."
"Forse, ci lasceranno andare."
"Ndoshta jo që një gjarpër, shikoni në atë atmosferë."
"We can just go off and do our thing, yes?"
"Not interested in killing you."

Round 6
Gaevus: Go
Fetch: Go
GE: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
I1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
I2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Genta
|
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37
Genta understands almost all of the conversation, except for the Tengu part. "I think these are imentesh proteans," she says through the message spell. "Sounds like they just want to leave, so as long as they don't take the Sky Key with them..."
Gaevus
|
"If they don't want the Sky Key, maybe I should help move it? I'm not so good at pulling myself, but maybe I could help jimmy it free?" Gaevus looks uncertain as to how to proceed, especially since it seems like the party doesn't want him to murdernate the weird creature.
If there appears to be no threat, and Ivan tries to move the Sky Key again, he will attempt to aid Ivan. If the protean looks threatening or anything else comes out, he will instead attack that threat. (My intention is to delay until just before Fetch, so I know what's going on, and possibly to not waste actions if Diplomacy saves the day!)
Helpful Aid Another (Strength): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2 vs. DC 10 to add +4 to Ivan's Strength check
Gaevus's sausage fingers slip on the Sky Key, and he almost gets a finger stuck in it, just like in the devices in the Mausoleum earlier in the day....
Max Necrobie
|
Max looks unceratain about this, but is willing to listen to the ideas of the Knowledgeable, and ponders what he overheard in the language of the Fey. "Well, if they leave us be, there's still the big lightning guy who is spooked but not gone, who I doubt will be spooked forever"
Genta
|
To the extent that Genta knows what's going on - which is not much at all - she informs everybody of what she knows. I don't think she translates the conversation word for word because what she can understand of it is totally meaningless.
Gaevus
|
Oh, sorry, I didn't see that the lightning formed a new elemental--I thought it formed into the protean.
Gaevus, looking up, sees the new elemental threat. He steps around the pillar (assuming that it's not a hard corner) and, tapping his Boots (1 round remaining), slashes thrice at the new threat.
Full Attack (main): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 6 + (1) = 22 total damage (21 magic slashing, 1 sonic)
Augh, why can't you crit elementals?
Full Attack (haste): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (16) + 25 = 41 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 6 + (4) = 26 total damage (22 magic slashing, 4 sonic)
Full Attack (iterative): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 6 + (3) = 26 total damage (23 magic slashing, 3 sonic)
Yelling back toward the protean voices, Gaevus says, "I like all those things too! Perhaps we can be friends? ... Just don't worry so much about the frowning snakeman, he doesn't like any of those, but he's still all right, I promise!"
Aid Another (Diplomacy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 vs. DC 10 to give aid someone else's Diplomacy check by +4
@GM: Gaevus plans to parry the elemental if it strikes at him. Should I roll that now, or wait until it attacks like we have traditionally?
Gaevus
|
"Do you guys plan on going home or staying here....?"
Gaevus is all for letting them go, unless they seemed to want to do harm. He'd be a little worried that they might cause harm if they stick around in the Pathfinder Lodge (given all the crazy stuff that's happened so far!), but if they want to go back to Protean-land, then Gaevus is all for permitting them to be free.
Also, they're going to let us take the Sky Key!
Gaevus
|
"That sounds good! Go where you want! Be free! All of us here love being free!" Gaevus waves them on encouragingly while looking worriedly over at Ksarress. Hopefully Ksarress won't start smiting law....
Gaevus will keep trying to Aid Another for a +4 to Diplomacy.
Yitza
|
"Not all that glitters is gold. Not all that shines is treasure. Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line. And don't try to out-snake the snakeman."
Yitza's visage is haunting... both fey and ancient, and her voice is hollow and cold. Her wisdom should be heeded. Whether or not they can understand all her connotations.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34
DrParty06
|
GE tries to slam into Gaevus, parry if you wish.
Slam 1: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Slam 2: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 20 = 32
Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (7, 7) + 6 = 20
The other elemental tries again to squeeze out the window and does so successfully this time. The elf continues to flee on the floor below.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (14) + 29 = 43
The imenteshes reveal themselves moving from the circle.

Round 6
Fetch: Go
Genta: Go
Ksarress: Go
Max: Go
Gaevus
|
Gaevus parries the first slam, and ripostes with the sharpest slash he can muster!
Parry: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38 vs. GE's first slam
Riposte: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (8) + 25 = 33 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 6 + (6) = 30 total damage (24 magic slashing, 6 sonic) (max damage!)
"Aha!" he boasts, letting his guard down briefly, allowing the elemental's second slam to bop him right on the head. "Oof!" He puts his buckler hand to his head. "My plume!" he frets.
HP: 17/79
"Um, where are you guys going?" he asks the pair of proteans. "Didn't we convince you to go home?"
I guess Gaevus won't take any attacks of opportunity, hoping that the proteans will just leave?
Gaevus
|
Gaevus looks utterly flummoxed by what the proteans' confusing conversation. He's momentarily shaken from his stupor by the reinvigorating clap of Max's hand on his back. With a positive strength modifier, Max almost knocks Gaevus's precious blue felt cap off of his head!
"Thanks, Max!" Gaevus rights his hat and fixes his hair. "You're the best. I don't say that as often as I should!" He grins and turns back to the elemental. "I'll try not to get hit next time!"
HP: 40/79
Does it look like the summoning circle is still doing wacky things with the Sky Key, or does it look like it's settled down?
Ksarress
|
"Gaevus you fool can't you be counted on to murder the right things? Wherever they're going, they'll advance the unmaking of the material plane! This cannot stand!"
Ksarress is so anxious to cut them down he draws a longer weapon rather than run up to them.
smite chaos, ac is now 35 vs the closer protean
bardiche: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (11) + 22 = 33
damage: 1d10 + 29 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 29 + (2) + 3 = 40 (edit-forgot double smite damage on first attack for being a chaotic outsider)
bardiche: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28
damage: 1d10 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 29 + (4) = 42
Genta
|
"Ugggh," Genta groans. Leaving the proteans and Ksarress to have it out, She points at the remaining lightning elemental. "You. You are having a bad day." She casts major curse at it. Will DC 25 negates. If it fails, it has a 50% chance to take no action on its turn each round.
"The Sky Key isn't going anywhere anymore," says Genta. "It's basically an immovable rod. Can we clear the area please!?"
Fetch
|
Fetch isn't sure about the Proteans, but the elemental seems like a bit of a problem. Ivan tears into it at her direction:
Claw: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (2) + 29 = 31
Claw Damage: 1d8 + 25 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 25 + (1) = 33
Claw: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (11) + 29 = 40
Claw Damage: 1d8 + 25 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 25 + (1) = 30
If both claws hit:
Rend Damage: 3d6 + 34 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3) + 34 + (1) = 44
Bite: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (19) + 29 = 48
Bite Damage: 1d8 + 34 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 34 + (1) = 42
Slam: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (9) + 29 = 38
Slam Damage: 3d6 + 25 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) + 25 + (2) = 35
Hasted Bite: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (18) + 29 = 47
Bite Damage: 1d8 + 34 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 34 + (6) = 42
Gaevus
|
"Are we letting them go? ... Are you guys going? Maybe you should go before the snakeman kills you...." If the plan is to let them go, Gaevus will back up a little and delay.
"What's the plan to get the Sky Key now? Or are we just going to stay here and protect it until the bigwigs arrive?"
If they look like they are going to attack Ksarress, Gaevus will take a 5 foot step and full attack, though I can't promise Gaevus won't get Wisdom damaged to unconsciousness.

With the departure of the proteans, the energies holding the Sky Key in place dwindle and it drops from the air, no longer blinking, into Ivan's hands. You can easily return through the mirror back through Arliss Hall and Dimension Door outside where Kreighton Shaine is waiting, looking relieved to see you return with the Sky Key. Other Pathfinders stream out of Arliss Hall behind you and begin gathering toward the front gates of the Grand Lodge campus.
Gaevus
|
"We did it! We got the Sky Key back safely!" Gaevus points to whomever is holding it--it most certainly should not be he.
Regarding the boon: but mine's a crit threat!
Genta
|
"Oh, pretty much all the live long day," says Genta, catching her breath. "Yeah, you should do something about them. I'm just grateful we and the Sky Key are fine. Trust me, this thing is way worse." Genta will make sure Kreighton Shaine gets the Sky Key back. "Renyrd, no," she adds, seeing her fox eyeing the artifact.
