Hey everyone! Please check in to verify you got the invitation.

I'm going to go more thoroughly through everyone's characters over the next couple of days, with an eye toward starting the gameplay thread by the weekend. If you have any last-minute changes you want to make, now that the group is assembled, please feel free to do so.

You will have been brought together by Ganlan Skreeg, a rather scummy dwarf with only one arm - the other has been replaced by a cybernetic prosthesis, but it doesn't seem to work too well and frequently sparks and twitches alarmingly. Ganlan is a professional Crawl recruiter, but not exactly the cream of the crop; he's been the face of your contacts with the Consortium so far, though, and he's promised you all that he's landed your group a gig.

One order of business, once you all meet each other in the rusted-out motel room Ganlan calls his "office," is to decide on a team name...


Hey all, Ko here. Unfortunatly, Ko was taken as a name so I had to add a bit of a title at the end, and there aren't any good alias pictures for a kasatha, so I had to make do with a runed hand. In any case, I'm looking forward to playing!


Checking in. I'll put together an alias for Oster, and consider whether there are any changes I want to make while I'm doing so. Will make another post with the alias once it's ready to go. I'm really looking forward to this as well!

Overall, Ko looks good, but two things: first, surviving space travel without a ship requires both not needing to breathe and also cold immunity. Perhaps you had some tech or magical item that protected you that was destroyed during reentry?

Second, you seem to be getting a +2 dodge bonus to AC I can't account for. Any idea what I might be missing?


One thing you will likely want to take into account is that there is no strong, primary healer among you. Those of you who can use cure wands or restoration scrolls might wish to invest in such things...

I've got some Credits left over, I could always pick up a wand of CLW. I don't have the credits for a wand of CMW.


I think I'm all set. Cure/Restoration spells aren't on the psychic list and UMD isn't my strong suit. I've downgraded my composite shortbow from masterwork to regular non-composite and also liquidated the tree feather token to put up to 815 (including the leftover cash) toward a wand pool. If we could get enough together for a wand of lesser restoration that'd be great, otherwise I could afford another CLW wand for the group with that by myself (or about 5 scrolls of it instead).

Mira can handle cures (already have a wand purchased) though bards lack the actually important healing spells. This build is fairly gold-agnostic so I'll have plenty of cash lying around to purchase resto scrolls and such for our Paladin to use (I'm currently sitting on 3.6k gold I don't really know what to do with otherwise lol).

No magic items like a cloak of resistance or anything you could use? As for Resto Scrolls, I'm always up for helping out with such things. Okian may be a warrior, but keeping one's comrades safe is just as important as smiting all day every day.

I skimped on the natural armor, myself, but with the items I picked I figured I could skip on a couple of the big six and just get +2 enhancements.

Bought my way down to a more reasonable credits total.


As a chaokineticist, Ko has the no breath utility talent, allowing him to gain the No Breath ability, along with being able to survive in the vacuum of space. Here's the ability description, "You gain no breath, as per the universal monster ability, and you can survive in the vacuum of space." On the matter of the dodge, kasathas get a +2 dodge bonus as a racial ability, and I took Dodge, which ends up as +3.


Well, that's why I asked - I have People of the Stars literally sitting right next to me, but I'd never noticed the dodge bonus before. And I should have just gone and actually read the No Breath ability, instead of just assuming it just gave you no breath. I love Pathfinder's naming standards sometimes... ;)

Well then, consider Ko approved!


Good to hear it. I just realized that the description of no breath is just, "You can survive in the vacuum of space" as if the ability wasn't badly written enough.


"Take 273 damage!"
"Okay, but I survive it. We're in space."


To be more helpful, I'm going to stipulate that the No Breath ability allows survival in vacuum and nothing else, no inherent cold immunity or pressure support or anything. It will function more like planetary adaptation (minus the cold resistance) than anything else.


Well, one could point out that vacuum is nothing else. Hehe...

Excellent. I made some slight tweaks based on everyone's purchases: exchanged the cash set aside for 4 scrolls of lesser restoration and 4 potions of remove fear. Gotta make sure to keep my head clear for my spells.

As for a group name, but dang is it a hard one to find a good one for, for some reason. "Crawler Trawlers" is the best that I've come up with so far, but I have a nagging feeling that there's some obvious and amazing pun out there which is eluding me <.<

Could I get everyone to put character summaries in their profiles under the Classes/Levels tab, like Otto and Oster have done? Makes things a lot easier for me not to have to look up AC and initiative scores. Thanks!

It worked out that it didn't matter this time, but do you have a specific expectation for when to post in combat, GM? I've been in some where one is expected to wait for your grouping to be up, and in some where you post as soon as you can but with an indicator of when your actual initiative count is (this one sometimes requires some GM editing based on intent if circumstances change before someone goes). I just want to make sure I don't go off all half-cocked with eagerness.


For now, let's go with "post in your grouping," but if that seems to be an issue we might revisit that question.

No, I'm just an idiot and misread my crit range while I was busy at work, that is my bad. Sorry about that.


Okay, first combat done! In addition to wanting to kick things off with a bit of a bang (and for some future plot reasons too of course), I decided to put this fight in right off the bat so we could work the kinks out of the group, the posting style, and the characters. So if anyone has any feedback on how the combat itself proceeded, please bring them up now. Also, consider this to be the rough equivalent of the three-mod-rebuild of PFS: now that you've gone through a fight with your character, feel free to suggest a rebuild if there's any changes you'd like to make.
