After what seems a long time, though it is really less than a minute, the ash stills and settles through the darkness covering the area in drifts of thick pale ash.

When the ash settles and the camp can be seen again, several figure seem to be various states of preparing for an attack. Two figures seem to be casting spells, one is holding a bow, and the fourth has disappeared.

There is faint coughing heard as three ash covered figures emerge from the clearing air. A mumbling sound is heard as two begin incantations and the third points her bow at the sky.

Falear stays poorly hidden as the illusionary caravan runs north through the thick dust toward Karathas and Amir. They disappear upon entering the brush and leave Karethas and Amir in darkness.

Auri stabs at the elemental striking it with his envenomed tail, but the air dweller appears unaffected. any action from Kzrira?

Kzrira holds waiting until the druid or his gnoll companions appear assuming that if these are summoned elementals, they will soon return from whence they came.


The small elemental on the ground ignores the fleeing illusion and spinning in on itself veers toward Faelar. The elf can only just make out the starlit whirlwind before he is in the midst of it.

Kzrira, seeing the large air elemental begin to attack Auri decides that it is time to begin trying to change the flow of the battle. She carefully aims her bow and begins to unleash a torent of arrows toward the monster.

I assume that I can see this unless the dragon/elementals are farther than 60' from the fire.

That is why I started shooting the big one, assuming it was the shaman. Of course I completely missed, whether he noticed remains unknown.


oh, did you build a fire? I asked for specifics and no one mentioned it. It would have been buried by the ash storm anyway so no light as far as I can tell. Only Auri and Faelar can see anything unless Karethas wants to light it up for us.

Yeh, the intention was to set up a real campsite - the wagon, a fire, basic stuff. And then superimpose the illusionary party members. Essentially build an illusion out of the real thing. Although, if the ash storm would have eliminated that, then it does not make any difference.

I will continue to wait until I can see something.

Faelar ducks under the bushes as the ash laden tornado rushes him. With a word and a gesture, four floating flames appear over the ashes providing some light. Karethas begins conjuring and Amir leaves him to stealthily circle around to Kzrira.

Meanwhile, the archer sees the tiny dragon pressed by a pair of elementals and fires at the bigger one. Her shots the shadowy figure speeding overhead.

just need Auri's action and we'll move on. All the elementals are quite fast.

Aurichalcum unleashes a gout of flame at the smaller elemental that turns back toward him. The burst of fire forces it to evade and ruins its attack, but it does not remain ignited. The other small elemental continues pursuing Faelar through the bushes, ripping leaves from the bushes but unable to reach the bard. The biggest elemental swoops down upon the archer bashing into her as it flies past. Kzrira- 8 bludg

Feeling the blow as the big elemental flew by, Kzrira steps out from the bushes and fires two more arrows at the creature.

My understanding is that we are outside at night, so this should be Dim Light. Thus, I should be able to see the elemental, but have a 20% miss chance. We are in the desert, so I would think there is either a bright moon or lots of stars to give us some light.

as shown on the campaign page, it is a new moon. that's why I track it. it is a clear night so I'll agree it's not totally dark, but really dark. I'd say even without the dancing lights, you could target anything within pointblank range at a 30% miss chance.

Hey ... my posts have been eaten!!! Including my saves, which is lucky as you have rolled better than I did anyway.

Seeing that the fight is unravelling, I step back from the foe in front of me and start to perform some Arcane gestures and reciting some long and complex incantations.

Mirror Image : 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 (So 3 images and I. A 1 on a D4 hits me.)


I don't think you can cast light on a creature. It specifies an object. Crit immunity not gained by druids until higher levels, but of course actual elementals are immune.

Faelar plays keep away with the elemental by creating decoys. Amir continues slinking around the edge of the ash pit. Karethas sends a friendly elemental to defend the hard pressed dragon.

The elemental smacks into its opposing cousin freeing the tiny dragon to light a bit of ornamentation. The other elemental keeps its focus on the dragon buffeting him. Auri-2 bludg

Kzrira fires at the larger elemental that swiped her and hits the dim form once. It turns whirling into a towering twenty-five foot cone of wind that roars upon her. Faelar continues to deal with his smaller whirlwind.

Sorry, I think I'm still stuck on 2.0 on that one. Used to be able to dazzle people by casting light on them. In any case, I'll cast it on a copper piece and hand it to the elemental, or throw it under the fight if you don't think I can fit that in this turn.
