"Let's try this again." Karethas mutters as he twists the ring on his finger. He launches into the complex patterns of another summoning. Spell.

Kzrira shakes her head as she sees the strange gnoll transform into a dust devil.

Caught off guard by the explosion of wind and wings, Amir misses his opportunity to strike and then quickly drops his swords to draw and fire a hasty shot at the retreating bird.
The wily buzzard ducks the shot and then barrel rolls to avoid a burst of dragon fire with a warning croak. The spinning wind is lightly scorched as both bird and breeze move over the bank of the wadi flying slow and low over the cactus and scrub and beyond the view of those below in the river bed.
Faelar heals Kzrira (3 hp) and can see that the gnoll leader has taken the form of a small air elemental, but is uncertain how much of the elemental's powers he manifests. Faelar-that'd be a spellcraft check. You had to double move last round so that heal will happen current round.
Antar gives a shout as the gnolls in the pit rise to the surface.

sheesh! alot of moving parts in this combat.
Kzrira rushes to the side of the wadi and starts up the crumbling slope. (move and 1 climb). Karethas finishes his summoning and three golden eagles appear before him and swiftly fly to mob the escaping whirlwind and vulture as the gleaming dragon follows ready to spit fire.
OK, complications. Eagles will have to charge. Only two will reach the air elemental, one is blocked by the vulture and one will have to move through its threat. The eagles will only get one attack on a charge and must make a DC 13 ref save against the whirlwind (i'll just use their second attack roll for the save). Auri came up later and can attack, but will hit 1-2 eagles. Let me know if you flame anyway.
The first eagle streaks at the enemy and gives a whistling cry as its talon tears at the wind. The next eagle is not so lucky, suffering a grievous bite from the vulture, it is battered as it strikes the dust devil and disappears from this plane. The final eagle falls upon the horrid buzzard, but is outclassed by the wily scavenger. The elemental and vulture flee at speed from their foes.
Amir rushes to Antar's side as the gnolls reach ground level again. One immediately slips as Karethas coats the rough riverbed with a greasy film. The other steps to the side and releases another arrow at the bothersome wizards. hmmm, i think Karethas has 1 mirror image left?

Karethas moves quickly to put the wagon between archers and himself. The remaining eagles continue to harass the fleeing gnoll.
Give the eagles whatever attacks they have coming to them it they can attack the fleeing gnoll.
Sheik Voodoo
Karethas and a herd of Faelars hustle to take cover behind the large dead tree known as the Sultan's Claw while Amir makes short work of the fallen gnoll.
Antar edges the glistening grease slick at the bottom of the wadi to attack the remaining gnoll. Nearly slipping himself unfortunately, the strongman misses and the gnoll quickly withdraws down the road. 60' east
Kzrira finally reaches the top of the steep cliff after nearly sliding a step or two at the top and reaches to retrieve her bow as she looks southward for her foe.
Moving quickly southward in the darkening sky, the aerial dogfight continues. The pair of golden eagles easily keep pace with the fleeing elemental and buzzard. The eagles dive on the racing cloud, but it dodges while the buzzard dashes upon one of the eagles tearing the raptor as the birds tumble in the air. The eagles shriek as the elemental evades their talons again to drop into the scrub and a flash of lightning strikes with a crash dispatching the unwounded eagle.

I could have died back there, and all because those gnolls were protecting their salvage. I can't imagine the sayeda's people left anything worthwhile with this wagon."
Kzrira Maiwith
Seeing the fleeing gnoll druid attempting to escape, Kzrira nocks two more arrows and again fires.

Amir will let the curs run turning instead to Antar as he sheathes his words, Are you all right my friend? The wizard grease is a true peril... The rogue offers a hand if needed.
Sheik Voodoo
Kzrira would have needed two hands to climb, so a move action to rearm.
Grabbing Tempest again, Kzrira fires a shot that is lost in the brush. Antar gets up off his knee with Amir's assistance and looks sheepish. "Ah, I'm a little rusty I guess. I am sorry I let the mangy fiend get away."
The last eagle falls upon the dust cloud and shrieks as its talons dig into the elemental. Then the buzzard tears the eagle to shreds and it disappears from this world. The air elemental whirls again sucking up dust until it congeals into a small pebbly mound of dirt and then sinks into the ground vanishing from sight.

Karethas nods at Faelar and looks back up the side of the wadi towards the direction the group had come from. He frowns for a second as a though occurs to him and then moves in that direction. "What if this was a distraction?"
I will start the climb checks the next round.
Sheik Voodoo
you don't need to climb if you stay on the road cut, only climbing up the bank.
As Karethas moves back, he is relieved to see Garavel leading the camels down the road into the wadi now that the danger appears to have passed. He waves and approaches the group at a relaxed pace. "Very good, you have driven off the raiders. How interesting that this is the same spot where we first met during the unfortunate fire. This is where I had planned on camping. It served well before, but perhaps now the burned remains of Eloais' wagon draw too many scavengers."
Kzrira Maiwith
Kzrira yells at the fleeing bird: I'll teach you to attack caravans cur.
Kzrira continues to fire at the fleeing buzzard.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 6 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 2 - 6 = 3
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 6 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 - 6 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Kzrira Maiwith
Realizing that the buzzard is more or less unhittable at this distance, Kzrira lowers her bow and looks down at her companions by the burned out wagon.
Damn thing got away. The gnoll-elemental simply sunk into the ground. The bird flies fast.
She then heads back down to see how her companions fared.
Amir Awad Hajjir
Amir will only grunt as he helps Antar stand, I am well versed in the issue of "rust".
Looking about as Garavel comes down and joins the group Amir will wipe his brow, I doubt we will have much trouble tonight but perhaps we should move out a bit.
Faelar Braegen
I stand up and meet Garavel, where I nod as I dust myself down. I rummage through my bag and make sure that my ink hasn't spilled everywhere, happy that it is all safe I don my bag and start to walk with Auri to check out the burnt wagon again, in case something else is there now.
I should still have my images up
Kzrira Maiwith
Kzrira moves up. We will have to keep a sharp eye out tonight. Auri, can you keep watch with your dragon senses. If you are tired, you can probably rest while we move on tomorrow.
She then looks around: Anyone else hurt? That bastard was tossing around lightning with abandon.
Sheik Voodoo
The charred wagon has weathered some since Faelar last saw it on the night of the fire. It now rests on the ground and only one wall remains vertical. There is some broken glass and mounds of colored wax within, but the cracked crystal ball has disappeared and little else remains.
Neither burned wagon nor gnolls detect as magic. The gnolls wear dirty leather armor and are armed with standard longbow and spear with a dozen arrows each.
Garavel nods, "The wadi provides shelter from the winds, but the weather seems calm enough. Let us push on for another hour before making camp."
just to double check, did Faelar bring his own cart or Amir his mule?
Karethas ibn Faradin
Karethas attempts to nod sagely, "Yes, it is probably best to be away from whatever it was that they were looking for down here."
Kzrira Maiwith
Kzrira looks at the bodies. Na, leave them for the scavengers. If we bury them, then it will just take vermin longer to dig them up. No reason for both us and the scavengers to do extra work.
Kzrira does not have a high opinion of gnolls.
Sheik Voodoo
Aurichalcum considers that scavengers aren't likely very tasty, but perhaps it depends on the scavenger.
Garavel evenly notes to Faelar, "I do not recommend taking their armor. I have had loads spoiled by an infestation of fleas from the like in the past. As for burial, let them bury their own dead. The day grows short and we have yet to make camp." With a kick he starts his camel up the incline as the road leaves the wadi.
The sky continues to darken into a moonless night and Garavel calls a stop for the night in a small area mostly clear of scrub brush. The camels are tied up and Garavel sets to making a small fire of dried dung for light as only trail rations were brought for food.
Antar tugs a this rations without relish. "Bah! I need something more than unleavened bread and dried goat to keep up my strength. Kzrira, you're good with the bow. Find us some fresh meat tomorrow."
Kzrira Maiwith
Kzrira nods at the merchant: Let me see if I can find something tasty to supplement the rations.
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Kzrira comes back with a young buck and several fat hares?
Sheik Voodoo
Garavel holds up a hand to stay Kzrira, "I would advise against wandering about in the night. We are still in wild country and have already seen gnoll raiders. It would be better to set guards and get what rest we can so that we may travel swiftly in the morning. The sooner we reach Solku, the better."
watch schedule?
Karethas ibn Faradin
Karethas nods at what he assumes is Garavel's wise advice. "How long will it take to get to Solku? I have to say I agree with Antar about these rations. We have been traveling so long, that I long for a bit of fresh food and a cup of well brewed coffee."
Aurichalcum
Auri takes out some parchment...
"Perhaps we should lay some basic snares around our position. Does anyone have any magical sensors to detect foes and alert us?"

Karethas ibn Faradin
I have such a spell, but the fight earlier exhausted me for such expenditures. I can prepare the spell for tomorrow.
Kzrira Maiwith
Kzrira listens to Karethas: I need to learn more about magic as I see it to be a great way of improving my prowess with this bow. But, I have seen you studying your book in the morning. Could you perhaps not memorize all your spells and if you did not use all your powers during the day, you could then memorize and cast the magical sensor before bed.
