Alvoise of Karcau
Alvoise screams in rage and charges one of the assassins he can see. His rapier slashes back and forth as he advances. Furious, he thrusts in a deep lunge at his target, leaving himself open to side attacks.
Round 1
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
2/8 bloodrage rounds
Henric Xantrian
Henric is unswayed by the sight of the creature - perhaps this time, the sussurus of voices and personalities played to his advantage. Without pausing to think on it further, he draws his sword cane and closes in on the creature, lashing out at it with the blade.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
"Its touch causes madness!" he cries out to the others. "Stay clear, and don't believe its lies!"
DireMerc
Alvoise strikes at the creature. (did you include the -2 for shaken?)
Hits either way but remember for next time.
Xaikon stabs it as well and so does Henric.
Every attack so far hit. The creature is badly injured (~50% hp)
It takes a 5 step back and unleashes a horrid screech sending maddening images into your minds. Will save dc 16 or be nauseated for 1d4 rounds. Affects everyone.
Jayla Talusia
Are the images aimed at emotions? In the way of, upset or scared to the point of being nauseated?
Will: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 4 = 11
Nauseated: 1d4 ⇒ 3
+2 will, +4 racial vs mind affecting
Jayla's subconscious is unaccustomed to sudden invasive images and her body is corresponding to the new influences.
Henric Xantrian
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Nauseated for: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Henric clutches his head as the voices in his mind scream out in unison.
EVERYWHERE OH GODS THEY'RE IN MY SKIN NO NO ANNALISE COME BACK STAY WITH ME YOU BASTARD THAT WAS MY BEST KNIFE STAY WITH ME DON'T YOU DARE
His stomach churns, and all he can do is attempt to stagger back, away from the creature.
DireMerc
Star-Shriek (Ex)
Once per day as a full-round action, a ---------- can unleash a shrill scream of madness. All creatures (except other -----------) within 30 feet must make a DC 16 Will save or be nauseated for 1d4 rounds. This is a sonic, mind-affecting effect. The save DC is Constitution-based.
You wouldn't be Immune I think just get the +4
Also if you make the save post your actions for the round. If nobody makes it then it just goes back to the creature.
Xaikon Traxnik
Will save: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14
Nauseated for: 1d4 ⇒ 4
oh my, out of action for a long time...
Xaikon shakes her head some more to rid the images, yet begins to feel rather nauseated from the shaking, stepping 5' backwards from dizziness.
Raskir Windspeaker
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 ouch
rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Raskir covers his ears and retreats.
Saves for familiar just in case
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 from last round
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
The white owl Tuuli seems unaffected. She swoops in above the creature, attempting to distract it.
Total defense for AC=20
Alvoise of Karcau
Sorry for forgetting the −2. I thought I had to attack the illusions anyway.
Despite the fury that’s inhibiting his thinking, Alvoise knows he should attack the strange creature. It summoned the assassins. It can send them away. He growls, a warning to the creature and his own companions to not get in his way. He swishes the rapier to his left then attempts to thrust it at the creature.
Round 2
attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
3/8 bloodrage rounds
DireMerc
Honestly I tough so too at first but it has no real effect other than to make you shaken so you can still attack the creature.
alvoise will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
And he makes it I guess. So he swings and misses.
The creature reaches out to touch Alvoise the one who resisted his shout.
touch of madness: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Int drain: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Wis drain: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Cha drain: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Hmm could have been worst
I think Henric can act this round and Alvoise again. Everyone else reduce their rounds of nauseated by 1.
Henric Xantrian
The screaming in his head subsides as Henric straightens again, his stomach settling as a new focus comes over him. Most of his companions were reeling and retching; he takes up the mantle, shifting to get into a position behind the creature before taking another stab at it.
I'd like to try to move into a position where I'm flanking the creature with Alvoise. If I can't do that without provoking an AoO, I'll just 5-foot step, so I can get there in a couple of rounds.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 +2 if flanking.
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Alvoise of Karcau
After the creature’s touch, a wave of confusion and fuzziness sweeps through Alvoise. He screams, and attacks again, not paying attention to tactics or where his companions are.
Round 3
attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 2 = 15
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
4/8 bloodrage rounds
DireMerc
Henric and Alvoise both stab the creature and it shrieks in pain.
It abandons using tactics or powers and just starts flailing it's tentacles like whips and tries to bite Alvoise.
bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
tentacle Alvoise: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
tentacle Alvoise: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
tentacle Henric: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 171d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
tentacle Henric: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Your turn again.
Alvoise of Karcau
Alvoise gasps in slight pain as the creature strikes him with a tentacle.
”What have you done to them?” he shouts, seeing the most of the group down. He knows the rage fueling him will soon be spent, and he thrusts at the creature hoping to end the fight.
Round 4
attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
5/8 bloodrage rounds
Alvoise of Karcau
In case Henric doesn't kill it in round 4...
Spittle flies from Alvoise’s mouth as he cries out in frustration. He lunges again at the creature, hoping to stab it with his rapier.
Round 5
attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 2 = 16
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
6/8 bloodrage rounds
Henric Xantrian
Had a busy couple of days. Let's see if I can kill this thing.
One of the tentacles catches Henric on his side of his face, clipping his ear and sending a stinging pain ratcheting through his skull. Shifting his position, he calls out to Alvoise as he strikes again - "They're just suffering mild gastric distress caused by the echoes of insanity this creature utilizes. They'll be fine, but we need to focus on it!"
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 +2 if I can get into flanking.
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Henric Xantrian
I 5-foot stepped in the lastr round as well, though. Was two 5-foot steps not enough?
"I don't recall its name," Henric frowns, wiping his sword on his handkerchief again. "But such things have been studied before. I recall a journal from the pen of Dr. Philius Volkarian of Cassomir, who said that his researchers had found one of these creatures. It claimed to be from another world, and offered knowledge in exchange for knowledge. While it was able to offer vast amounts of information, everyone who studied it eventually turned mad." He looks around at his companions. "These creatures can cause madness with but a touch. If we encounter more, be careful."
Alvoise of Karcau
Alvoise groans in exhaustion and slumps to the ground. He lies on his back, breathing hard and ragged, gulping the underground’s stale air as if it were wine. ”Do you,” he begins saying a word or two with each breath ”think there are more of them around?”
When everyone looks ready to continue on, he rolls onto his side and stands up. ”Unless the kobolds know more about each tunnel, I say we head south-east.”
Fatigued for 12 rounds
Xaikon Traxnik
See Paizo is back today.
Xaikon stands up and walks over to the strange creature prodding it with her dagger, studying it for a while as other decide which way to go.
Once satisfied, she walks to the group, "Hope we don't encounter any more of those creatures. So which way we go?"
Henric Xantrian
"The journal I read of them in only mentioned the one," Henric says to Alvoise, looking over the creature. "I have no idea of their social structure. If we do find more, though, we would do well to avoid their touch, to avoid such episodes of gastric distress again."
He glances at the options. "Southeast seems as good a path as any."
Androids would be able to rock rage-cycling.
DireMerc
You follow the tunnel and it eventually opens up into a very large cavern.
At the northern edge of the Cavern is a large metal structure that looks mostly buried in rubble. It's badly damaged with cracks in the walls.
You also notice a large window that overlooks the room.
The southern half of the cavern is a large lake by your guess this is directly underneath the mining town.
Jayla Talusia
Jayla stands "baffled", the closest word to describe her stance.
Down in her subconscious, combined with splitsecond flashes...
...0011..00
1..lost.1.00..
missing...0111
"This...i haven't seen this, but somehow i feel i have. This requires a more thorough search."
Henric Xantrian
Henric doesn't allow his confusion to show on his face, his steely mask not wavering for an instant as he examines the structure.
Knowledge check?
Knowledge (____): 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 8 + (5) = 23
I'm trained in arcana, history, local, nature, nobility, & religion. All modifiers are the same.
Henric Xantrian
You and I may know what it is, but Henric doesn't. Therefore, he's damn well gonna try to figure it out, whether he actually can or not ;-)
I'd say engineering for the craft itself, but I'm leaving this purely as a GM call. Both on what it would be, and whether there's a chance I can figure it out or not.
Raskir Windspeaker
Raskir has never seen such a large metal structure. He marvels at it before coming closer and beginning to investigate it. Tuuli circles overhead, alert for movement.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Perception(owl): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Knowledge: Planes? :-)
Xaikon Traxnik
Xaikon enters into the cavern spotting the large shiny metal structure almost walks into those leading the group. She looks about quickly and then studies the strange looking structure, whispering "Strange looking structure, all shiny metal."
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 [+2 (strix) dim light or darkness]
DireMerc
With a smaller check you may know some of that information.
Jayla Talusia
Jayla looks carefull around, the previous creature caught them practically by surprise.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
She recalls some stories.
Kn. Local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Hopefully this is modest enough. Backgroundwise, she possibly overheard the members of the tech league who captured her about such matters.
"..there are stories...around 400 years ago a colossal metal structure fell from the sky and the largest piece is what is now known as the silver mount. The Technic League have been studying this for a long time but they hoard the knowledge for themselves keeping everything they learn a secret. Smaller pieces of that enormous ship have been found all over Numeria and the Technic League richly rewards anyone who point them towards them."
She turns to the others more direct.
"I consider the Tech League my enemy, they act like what you'd call "slavers" towards my people."
