Dam Roll:3d8 ⇒ (3, 2, 5) = 10

Bugger!

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto recovers from his surprise to find him self face to face with a flying stone statue, screams around indicate the loss of more of his companions and he draws both his weapons and tries to attack.

Move related to draw both weapons and standard to power attack.

Longsword +12(1d8+12 19-20) 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 161d8 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Well that looks like a big pile of fail.

GM

Karkalla puts two bolts into the second Gargoyle, The beast then banks upward flying back toward the cliff, it then dives toward the crew. It hits Avner full in the chest, pushing the Noble over the side. Avner's scream can be heard as he plunges into the rolling surf far below. Ardanto draws his weapons, but no foe is within reach.

Daurros lets loose with ray's of fire, burning the Gargoyle over the water and sending his burning form into the rolling surf as well.
The crew open fire at the remaining gargoyles to little effect. They scatter, trying to get away from the gargoyles and the cliff. The third Gargoyle spins around and pushes Avos off the cliff into the water below. Fathom steps forward striking the third attacker with a spell.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Toxim moves over to the cliff to help Ben. He fires off an arrow at one of the gargoyles harassing him.

Composite Longbow, mw: enhanced (+1, shock), deadly aim
to hit 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 27 damage 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 + (1) + 4 = 14

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto remembers that the pompous fool can't swim particularly well and so drops one of his his swords turns, takes a run up and dives over the edge of the cliff.

Falls into water:

Spoiler:
Falling into Water: Falls into water are handled somewhat differently. If the water is at least 10 feet deep, the first 20 feet of falling do no damage. The next 20 feet do nonlethal damage (1d3 per 10-foot increment). Beyond that, falling damage is lethal damage (1d6 per additional 10-foot increment).

Characters who deliberately dive into water take no damage on a successful DC 15 Swim check or DC 15 Acrobatics check, so long as the water is at least 10 feet deep for every 30 feet fallen. The DC of the check, however, increases by 5 for every 50 feet of the dive.

Dive into water:
*Swim +15 (+4 Str, +6 Rank, +3 Class Skill, +5 ring of swimming, -3 Armour Check) 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

Swim Check:
*Swim +15 (+4 Str, +6 Rank, +3 Class Skill, +5 ring of swimming, -3 Armour Check) 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21

Round 3

Fathom steps over and looks down into the surf, trying to see how the three are fairing.

Perception:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Then again raises her hand at the flying menaces.

Att Roll(Ranged Touch):1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Dam Roll:3d8 ⇒ (3, 5, 7) = 15

(-_-)

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn moves to shield the helpless crewmen (i.e. hoping to get an AoO with his longspear) and readies an attack at any gargoyle who comes close.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Karkalla conytinues to fire on any none engaged gargoyls whilst slowly making her way to the cliff face (5ft step)

Attack 1

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17

Damage

1d12 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Attack 2

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Damage

1d12 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

(Add +1 to hit/ damage if within 30 ft)

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard still isn't of much help to the people around him and decides to try helping the (now lone) sailor on the cliff below the 'road', jumping down to him, covering him with his shield.

Falling damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7

Following the warforged is the small blue ball, which blasts at the closest stone monster:
Soul blast (with 3 points essentia) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

GM

Toxim runs to the edge, putting an arrow into one of the Gargoyles. Guard jumps down the cliff to Ben's defense as Finn moves to guard the crew. Karkalla puts two bolts into the nearest Gargoyle, sending it splashing into the water below. Ardanto dives off the massive cliff to go after Avner as Snem blasts the last Gargoyle

Init: Round 2
* Toxim = 22[went]

* Ardanto = 11[went]

Round 4

Again raises her hand at the last of flying menaces.

Att Roll(Ranged Touch):1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Dam Roll:3d8 ⇒ (8, 6, 4) = 18

So, does three '1's in a row make a hat-trick, or what?

Last of the menaces so far...:P

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Daurros targets the closest gargoyle with a volley of force missiles.

damage 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 2) + 4 = 16

GM

The last of the gargoyles crumples under an barrage of missile fire. Ardanto is somewhere below the waves as are Avos and Avner and the first Gargoyle is merely out but not dead.

If anyone wants to help search for the two missing, ya will have to dive in and make perception roles

Ardanto:

You dive deep under water, it is hard to see clearly, but you do see a form. swimming close it looks to be avos, he is bleeding and unconscious but seems to be alive, if you can get him out before he drowns or bleeds out

Female Shifter Rogue 9

"Ack best get a rope ready ta pull the others up I'm going in" So said Karkalla shifts and dives into the water below to look for those that fell in.

Perception

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto dives under the water and appears a while later dragging the unconscious Avos, he yells up to the cliff for help in spotting Avner, "Can you see Avner?" His eyes scan the water as he treads water with Avos.

I'll take a 10 on swim now there is no combat.

GM

Ardanto pulls Avos to the cliffs as Karkalla searches the waves for Avner.

Ok, it will take her 2 rounds to find Avner, at this point Avos is being help afloat by Ardanto and is at the cliff base, 80 feet below the rest of the party

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn checks to see if there are any gargoyles that are unconscious (from the nonlethal spear damage) and ties them up for interrogation.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

2nd Perception (if needed)

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Toxim gets his rope out. "Anyone else have any rope?"

GM

As Ardanto treads water with the Dying Avos, Karkalla finally finds the downed noble. He looks to be in rough shape and he is currently 30 feet from the cliff facing.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Karkalla grabs the noble and pulls him to the surface. If possible she will attempt to heal him a little with her cure light wand

Use magic device

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Cure light

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Where's Fathom when you really need her?
"Help the Captain! I need more rope.

GM

A few of the crew are scrambling to find something, anything rope like as Amella barks orders. Some are slowly climbing down toward Ben, who is just 60 feet above the waves and the closest point to the water.

Finn Busies himself tieing up the lone surviving Gargoyle as Karkalla breaks the surface and heals the Dying noble, enough for him not to die anyhow.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard helps those climbing up and down to the plateau he and Ben are on as best he can, trying to catch those who might fall or pushing those who climb up again.

GM

I am assuming Karkalla uses the wand on the dying Avos as well

With a little help, Ardanto and Karkalla lift they injured mean from the water. They are roughly hauled to the bluff above with the makeshift rope. Both mean are still out and injured as is Finns prize, now trounced up like a bird waiting for the fire.

Ok what's neat, its close to night fall, very close, three mean are hurt, ben not as bad as the others, and four people wet.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

I'll scout ahead for a better place to make camp.
Survival 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto stands there shivering and dripping, he pokes one of the dead attackers. "what is it?" he asks puzzled. Before anyone can answer he starts unbuckling his glamoured armour, the illusion of his swashbuckling outfit fading as he removes the breast plate and attempts to dry off in the remaining rays of sunlight.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

"I have no idea what these stone-creatures are. Daurros? Toxim? Do you recognize them or speak their language?"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Having helped everyone to get back up on the 'road' and noticing Ardanto shivering, he asks the people who are wet to stand close to him, to cover them in his Mantle of Flames, providing at least a bit of warmth.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

"They are gargoyles."
Toxim returns to scouting.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9
Toxim ir' Kinain wrote:

"They are gargoyles."

Toxim returns to scouting.

"Yeah, what he said. So, we're going to press on? Or do we think we got most of them?" Daurros listens to what he said, and then adds, "Of course not. Getting all of them would mean we had a stroke of minor good luck. And that's just not in keeping with this journey."

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Karkalla in contrast to Ardanto seems quite happy to be soaking wet "Maybe we can ask stoney there if there are any more?" she says indicating there new captive.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

"Yes, if anyone knows about the locals, it would be this creature surely."

GM

Toxim is not able to find a place much better, but he does find an area a little wider not far from the attack site. You can drag or carry the Gargoyle along easily. Once you sit up camp you can question it.

who is questioning, what lang you speaking and what are you asking?

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn starts off the questioning in the common tongue:

"Ho there, monster! We've slain your fellows and you're our prisoner now. So if you want to save your stony hide, you better answer our questions. And if I catch you lying, I'll grind you into dust, see if I don't!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

If common doesn't work, he repeats the same threats in Abyssal.

GM

"Gur nagga dum rumgg" The creature spats, but it doesn't seem to have much venom behind it and the beast looks unsure and nerviness

Terran

Spoiler:
I kill you soft skin

Yes it is speaking Terran.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Daurros steps forward and translates Finn's words into each language he speaks: Draconic, Riedran, Abyssal, Infernal, Giant, Sylvan, Goblin, Elven, Quor

GM

The creature looks at you, seemingly not understanding any thing you say, even if Finn's tone is clear.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

"I don't know that language." says Toxim. He hands Finn his eternal wand of comprehend languages. "At least with this you can understand what he's saying."

GM

Edit: as you have the wand, yep you can understand it now and it you

As you question the beast, the others gets about setting up camp and tending the wounded as they can

GM

I guess I should have responded to those questions as I guess Finn would repeat them.

The Gargoyle seems uneasy and almost fearful of Finn "What want know soft skin?" it rumbles/

GM

Soooooooo no one wants to talk to old stony face? Gonna pitch him over the side then or what?

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn scowls.

"Why did you attack us? And are you the ones who left the strange dolls at our camp the other night? Who else is there in this jungle?"

GM

"They soft and tasty, most time easy prey.' it says with a shrug "Many things in jungle..what is doll?" It says stumbling over the strange word

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

"A doll is...a man made out of sticks. Are you gargoyles the only things that live around here?"

GM

"How you make man out of sticks? Does not sound tasty, sounds not tasty. Soft skins, sometimes come here. Soft skins taste good. Many things live in jungle."

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn translates for the rest of the group. If anyone else has any questions, feel free to chip in.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

"How many more of you are there? Will there be more attacks?"
