Sighing tiredly, Blink began to clean and remove the taint from the temple. It was the blessings of the temple they were counting on to help keep them safe, after all.

Did you want to do anything to secure the area? You are inside an enemy fortress, albeit one that's had its staffing somewhat reduced.
Galin Solatar |
I'm not sure exactly where we are, but assuming we're in an enclosed room Galin would also do his best to bar or barricade the door(s) to make it harder for anyone to enter while they sleep.
Blink Vala |
I imagine that there's enough furniture lying around that we can easily barricade all but one entrance. Or all of them if needs be.
Samnell |
The crusaders barricaded themselves in the defiled temple, where Blink busied herself doing what she could to cleanse the place. Twice in the night, demonic voices preceded heavy pounding upon the secured doors. Both times they flared with brilliant light and the pounding fell silent.
They rose the next morning from peaceful dreams, fully renewed.
Everyone is at max hp and all your negative levels are gone. No need for saves.
Blink Vala |
Cleaning herself with Prestidigation wasn't as pleasant as washing, but water was limited...and she suspected several of her friends would object to her getting undressed for a whol variety of reason. Still, there was this to say for magical cleaning - so long as you were thorough it didn't miss a speck.
Looking to the others, Blink got the last of her equipment on. "It sounded like demonic friends are going to be well aware we're here, and might have rigged us a welcome surprise when they found they couldn't get in last night." Blink felt a little smug about that. "When we're ready to go let me take a look for traps first." She didn't bother to ask them to keep her covered in case there were actual enemies out there - she knew they would.

Steave runs through his standard bivouac procedure and readies for the day.

There are some black spots on the map near where we fought the last battle. Let's start there and work our way back.
Blink Vala |
Blink headed outside the door, stopping to make sure the fortress' inhabitants hadn't left any surprises before heading to the unexplored areas near there last battle..

Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Yridhrennor quietly follows Blink. "Please, let us be done with this place soon...."
Samnell |
I'm back, sort of.
The cursaders returned to the Templar's Court, where they battled vrocks and brimoraks. A thorough search shows that two gates once led further into Drezen, but the ceiling's partial collapse entirely blocked them. Blink's best efforts couldn't find a spot to wriggle through to the citadel beyond.
There are other paths. This one is just blocked unless you do some major excavation.
Steave Rojerz |
"Let's find another way." The veteran crusader suggests.
Samnell |
The crusaders explored the chambers to the immediate west of where they battled the Nabasu and discovered one empty save for various detritus, some of which smelled of a latrine, and an abandoned dining hall directly thereafter. The hall held two long tables and a fair collection of benches, most overturned in haste. The remains of days-old meals did little to endear the place, but they had attracted a decent assemblage of flies and a half-dozen swollen to the size of halflings which proved little challenge to dispatch.
Blink Vala |
Wiping off the ichor of the slain flies with a slightly grossed out face, and being more careful than usual to avoid the mess they'd left being, Blink moved to check the oddly shaped room on the Eastern side.

Blink finds an empty guardroom in one chamber and despoiled stores in the next.
Samnell |
With one room left to explore before heading on to greener pastures, Blink headed there.
Blink found the opposite side of the fall of rubble she first observed from outside. The stone bore scorch marks that argued for brimorak having spent time there, or at least a large fire, but they or the fire had consumed all its contents save a few charred bits of furniture and siege equipment.
Blink Vala |
With this half of the floor cleared of enemies, Blink headed to the door in the West and a new batch of nightmarish horrors.

What's the worst you could possibly find? Just let me get my notepad out and start brainstorming. :)
Blink discovers a long corridor that turns to the South, with several doors.
Blink Vala |
Moving to the end of the first stretch of the corridor, Blink checked the first door to the West for movement and traps before opening it.

Galin Solatar |
After Blink determines that the room is safe, Galin begins to look through the intact equipment for anything of use. He replenishes his quiver with new arrows, and prays to Arqueros to tell him if anything in the armory is enchanted.
If anything looks valuable then he'll try to appraise it, and he's using detect magic.
Blink Vala |
It didn't seem likely that there would be much of use, but Blink joined Galin in the search.

If you want to redo some of your gear through the magic of virtual gearing, this is a perfectly good excuse. Otherwise...
Blink and Galin go over the armory contents in detail, but all that remains are ordinary weapons. Most are not that different from what crusaders across Mendev wield, but a few are of demonic aspect: wickedly barbed, strangely curved, made out of strange green or pitted metals, fashioned of bone, and so forth.
Samnell |
Oh that's right, I totally forgot that we were using virtual gearing in this game haha
You can virtually re-gear to get yourself some sweet demonic looking kit. You're in the worldwound, so it's only appropriate. There's no way I could have 20th level crusaders descend on you in a fury and kill first, speak with dead later. No way at all.
Blink Vala |
Oops, I'm sorry. Brain eating disease is slowing down, but I forgot half of what I was doing.
With the armour secured Blink moved to the next door, checking it before opening.

For all her careful work, Blink found no traps and beyond the door only a disused chamber.

Blink continued on her trap finding way, intent on finishing the corridor before deciding the next course of action.

Blink's further investigations find a disused granary. Beyond that, her path led her back into a corridor she had once briefly explored and to a neglected chamber there, which proved to be a second armory will far less usable arms present.
I ran together a couple of rooms for brevity.
Blink Vala |
Yeah, that would have dragged this out a bit.
Blink moved to the pair of doors at the end of the corridor, examining them too, since they seemed to be the last ones here.

Blink found a trap-free pair of doors, both of which opened to another section of corridor similar to the one she'd seen on the citadel's opposite side just before the chamber with the Nabassu.
Blink Vala |
Hoping the guardians here, if present, weren't as formidable as the ones on the other side, Blink headed for the bottom doors on the South West side.

As Blink listened at the door, she heard a woman's voice grumbling beyond.
"Miserable, worthless, should have killed them days ago..."

Blink raised her hand and gestured for the others, while continuing to listen in at the door herself.

So then...
Blink Vala |
Time to prep for fightings? Blink can totally not solo the boss. No buff spells for Blink to cast, however.
Galin Solatar |
Nonsense, I'm sure you'll do fine...
Galin moves quietly to the door, pressing his ear against a crack so as to hear the voices on the other side. Once the rest of the group has heard as well, he pulls a vial from his pack and downs the potion. After carefully storing the glass vial away, he pulls out his bow and bows his head in prayer for .
