Thistletorp Babblebrook |

Thistletorp scowls at the wolves and draws his bow, taking careful aim, ready for when the wolves attack.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Round 1
Jakun shakes his head at the approaching creatures. "A fight and so soon into our trip..."
Jakun casts Haste on himself and his allies.

Caitlyn Weissman |

Caitlyn didn't like being the subject of a spell but she knew Jackun would cast something useful. So she waited until waited until Jackun was done before she sprinted to meet the enemy. Bolstered by his magics, she moved so fast the wind howled in the air, or was that the wolves? Her hammer flashed brightly in the sun as it descended upon the lead wolf!
Defer till after Jackun's turn

Round 2
The Revered Daughter, seeing the wolves approach will call upon the might of Paladine to strike these foes down. "Paladine," she entreats, "hear my prayer Father of Light. Use your light to illumine the darkness these creatures attempt to bring and protect your innocent people as a shepherd guides and guards his flock," as she grasps her medallion of faith, its warm platinum light glowing in her hands.
Paladine's brilliance burst forth, striking two of the wolves blind and burning three in its righteousness.
Thistletorp readied his bow, waiting for the wolves to come in easy range.
Jakun shakes his head at the approaching creatures. "A fight and so soon into our trip..." He spoke the words of a spell and the Companions blurred with speed. Mittens raced forward an instant later.
Caitlyn waited until waited until Jackun was done before she sprinted to meet the enemy. Bolstered by his magics, she moved so fast the wind howled in the air, or was that the wolves? Her hammer flashed brightly in the sun as it descended upon the lead wolf! She struck a mighty blow, nearly throwing the creature from its feet.
The wolves converged on Caitlyn, not drawing close to where Thistletorp would like. They spread their jaws wide and breathed freezing sprays of glowing blue ice in rapid succession, leaking the warrior frozen nearly to the bone.
Mariel can tag three of 'em.
Ref DC 16: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 blind
Ref DC 16: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 blind
Ref DC 16: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 dazzled
Blindness/dazzled duration: 1d4 ⇒ 2 The blinded get sleepy faces. The dazzled gets a ninja mask. All three get the damage.
Thistle will shoot when the wolves are 60 feet out, which is where range penalties drop.
Ok, so blind wolves with breath weapons. Being they can smell her courtesy of scent and one just got nailed, they have a rough idea of where she is. That's enough to aim a 15 foot cone with reasonable accuracy. Ref DC 17. Four times over.
Caitlyn Ref: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 2, 3, 3) = 13 so 6
Caitlyn Ref: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4, 4, 2) = 16
Caitlyn Ref: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 1, 6, 2) = 23 so 11
Caitlyn Ref: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 3, 5, 4) = 28
Total damage: 61 Yow.
Again?: 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds, so round 6.
Order is Caitlyn, Mariel, Thistletorp, Mittens, Jakun, Winter Wolves. The Party is up!

Caitlyn Weissman |

Breath weapons are usually Su so Caitlyn should get +5 from superstition on those saves. Wouldn't have changed anything though. BTW last round Caitlyn deferred till after Jackun so the order is wrong I think.
Caitlyn gritted her teeth as she was blasted with the full fury of winter, sapping the strength from her limbs. Bellowing a war cry she lashes out furiously, swinging Wyrmslayer in great arcs battering the wolves in front of her!
Prayer has no save, so Caitlyn doesn't need to save. She will try and finish of the wolf immediately in front of her and then try the one just north if it falls.
Full attack with: Haste, Rage, Power attack, Prayer, Axe to grind.
Hasted Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 1 + 1 = 35Damage: 1d12 + 16 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 16 + 1 + 1 = 29
Crit?: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 1 + 1 = 20Crit Damage: 1d12 + 16 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 16 + 1 + 1 = 23
Primary Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 1 + 1 = 33Damage: 1d12 + 16 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 16 + 1 + 1 = 23
Iterative Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 13Damage: 1d12 + 16 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 16 + 1 + 1 = 23

Jakun Stormhoof |

Round 2
Jakun sees the cold air issue forth from the wolves. His eyebrows raise in surprise, this is the first he has seen of such foes. "Let us see how you enjoy fire winter wolves!"
He utilizes his Haste to move 30' closer to the combat.
Heroic Surge Seeing Caitlyn in trouble he surges forward yet again.
Jakun casts Scorching Ray - 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 2 Rays same Wolf - 4d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 2) + (5, 3, 3, 2) = 26

Thistletorp Babblebrook |

Thistletorp scurries forward, bow at the ready. Once he gets within firing range, he draws back and releaases.
bow: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Round 3
"I thank you Holy One for hearing my prayer and blinding these foes, grant us your blessing and love, grant us your salvation." Mariel prayed, blessing the party.
Thistletorp scurries forward, bow at the ready, but he didn't have the uncanny speed that Caitlyn boasted and couldn't quite get into range. It took him a double move, but he can shoot with no range penalties next round.
Shouting a prayer to Kiri-Jolith, Mittens charged forward and brought his blade slashing through the fur of one of the blinded wolves.
Jakun sees the cold air issue forth from the wolves. His eyebrows raise in surprise, this is the first he has seen of such foes. "Let us see how you enjoy fire winter wolves!" Two gouts of flame leaped from his hands, striking and slaying one of the wolves.
Caitlyn gritted her teeth as she was blasted with the full fury of winter, sapping the strength from her limbs. Bellowing a war cry she lashes out furiously, swinging Wyrmslayer in great arcs battering the wolves in front of her! Two solid blows felled a second wolf. In two breaths, the Companions had cut their enemies in half.
The wolves converged on Mittens and Caitlyn, ice-rimed jaws flashing, but both warriors parried and dodged quickly enough to stay out of harm's way.
Mittens attack: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 31
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Wolves now. One is dazzled, -1 to his attacks. The other is unharmed.
Dazzler to Mittens

Jakun casts Scorching Ray - 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20 - 2 Rays same Wolf - 4d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 1) + (1, 5, 3, 3) = 25.

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

The Revered Daughter prays again grasping her medallion of faith, the platinum dragon shining brightly as she prays Valiant Warrior, hear me as once again your unworthy servant flies to you, strike these creatures low and protect your people. Show them that what they have caught can be found with you she prays confidently and with a pure intent as she casts Holy smite trying to catch as many of the wolves with the 20 ft radius
3d8 ⇒ (2, 4, 3) = 9 dc 18

Caitlyn Weissman |

Finding the remaining Winter Wolves too close for her liking, Caitlyn dances away from them and unleashes a flurry of powerful ground pounding swings. The ground turns red and clod and gore flies as her hammer does it's terrible work!
Full attack with: Haste, Rage, Power attack, Prayer, Axe to grind.
Hasted Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 1 + 1 = 20Damage: 1d12 + 16 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 1 + 1 = 26

Round 4
The Revered Daughter prays again grasping her medallion of faith, the platinum dragon shining brightly as she prays Valiant Warrior, "hear me as once again your unworthy servant flies to you, strike these creatures low and protect your people. Show them that what they have caught can be found with you," she prays confidently and with a pure intent. A brilliant light strikes both surviving wolves, but only chars their fur.
Once more, Thistletorp launches an arrow at the wolves. His arrow grazes the less wounded of the two winter wolves. Mittens continued slicing into the wolf before him and twice staining its fur with red.
Jakun holds position and blasts another wolf with his fire magic. Once more twin gouts of flame explode against snow-white fur. The wolf couldn't take much more such punishment.
Blurring with spell-speed, Caitlyn swung Wyrmslayer in a wide arc. It gleamed as it careened into the flank of the wolf Jakun burned, then came back around for a second mighty blow that felled it.
The other wolf, now alone and blind, turned tail and bolted. The Companions cut it down with arrows and spells moments later, before it could double back and menace the column again.
Will DC 18: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 ah well. 4 damage.

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

The Revered Daughter thanks Paladine for his aid Thank you Blessed One for hear8ng my prayers, unworthy that they be looking around she inquires if any one is in need of healing.
She will the heal if necessary. Then she will look for the young man in her vision.

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

Caitlyn Weissman |

When the last winter wolf turns and runs, the pain of the frostbite catches up with her. She drops her weapon and sinks slowly to the ground, panting. Shivering, she stammers, "Oh... It's so cold. Soo cold!" She took a beating and needs a fair bit of healing.

Samnell |

How is that? Posting from my phone
Caitlyn is almost topped off with the two.
The refugees were very agitated by the winter wolf attack, but it came and went too quickly for a general panic to set in. The Companions' display of might, particularly the magic, drew many curious eyes.
It took Mariel some time to find the young man. He was slipping back into the crowd even as her eyes fell upon him. He couldn't be much more than twenty, all skin and bones wrapped in a tattered blanket. Mariel could see the dirty skirt of seeker robes beneath the blanket.
When the Revered Daughter spoke to him, he started and whirled.
"Uh-uh-uh hello!"

Caitlyn Weissman |

Feeling very much better, Caitlyn beams, "Why thank you Mariel! Their breath was so cold you wouldn't believe but thanks to you and E'li I'm right as rain again!" The healing of the true gods really was a marvel.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Jakun nods at Mittens and smiles at Thistle. He then pulls Caitlyn to the side, "Tell me my dear, are you starting to become more comfortable with my magic. I know that your brother had a terrible time but you must see now that it is not all bad yes?"

Samnell |

Greetings my child. I am the Lady Matiel Uth Kaldar, Revered Daughter of Paladinr. I was once a Seeker, like you seem to be but you seem, restless to me. What bothers you?
"It's nothing you should bother yourself with, Revered Daughter," the young man said. "There are too many people here with troubles." He avoided meeting Mariel's gaze. "I'm not hurt or hungry. Not hungry much. Thanks to you and your friends."

Samnell |

Come my child, your distress is apparent to those who can see such thing. Unburden your soul, perhaps what you saught as a Seeker is closer to your grasp than you imagined.
"That's not so," he said, self-consciously spreading the tattered blanket further over his robes. "You don't know what it was like in Haven. We...did things. The Highseekers had us all go around hunting anybody who didn't follow the Seeker gods."

Caitlyn Weissman |

Caitlyn considered here words before replying, "I can appreciate the tactical importance of your abilities, but that doesn't mean I like being ensorcelled."
Yes She's getting used to Jackun.

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

The use of inquisitors is not unheard of and we all have the capacity for good or for evil,it is what makes us human, our free will given us by Gilean in the beginning. Yet the gods of good especially Holy Paladine and Mishalel offer us forgiveness, hope and redemption. They give us the strength to carry. Their light guides, illumines, but does not blind she says sincerely

Samnell |

The young man listened to Mariel and Mittens closely.
"But...there is so much pain and suffering. If the gods want us to be well, why is there a dragonarmy? We must have done something. There has to be a reason... There was always a reason before. The other gods were false, so we had to denounce people who looked to them. Only we were wrong too. I shouldn't even look at you, Revered Daughter."

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

My child. Allow me to tell you a story. Imagine, if you will, that you once held a great treasure, a gem, an emerald or a ruby or a diamond, something of great cost. It is your prized possession and you carry it with you wherever you go. One day you carry it with you on a journey into a deep and dark forest and something scares you in such a manner that you drop the jewel and run away for your life. In your fear you know that you cannot go back for the jewel and in your panic and in your sadness, knowing that what you looked for is not with you but awaiting your return, you do things you would not usually do. The gem is still there waiting for you and when the time comes when your fear is gone the reunification between you and the gem will be that much greater. she says. Does this make sense?

"I...suppose it does, Revered Daughter. But the gods would not leave a jewel for me."
