Jakun Stormhoof |

Jakun holds back still. No need to alarm these humans after all in this place what could human captives consider any being that is non-human other than a captor? Stupid monkeys... Jakun grins at the dirty thought.

Caitlyn Weissman |

Caitlyn's eyes flashed with anger, this was diabolical, "We must find the babes and free the men then. Do any of you know where the babes are held? They must be our first priority."

Samnell |

Pretty nice roll.
Tell me, are any of you hurt? she inquires.
A few of the women had small scrapes and bruises, but no one was seriously injured.

"They take us out to do work for them, on and off. Cooking, cleaning. There's another pen with the girls. They get out some more than we do. But the babes... They're with a dragon, New Gods help us! It's the next level up from here. Just off a hall full of dirty old carpets. It's right up the steps."

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

I think perhaps, it was the Old Gods, Paladine and Mishakel and the other gods of light which may have heard your prayers and seen your plight. says the Revered Daugther.
Would I need to make a diplomacy check?

Would I need to make a diplomacy check?
If Mariel's just saying it, no. If she's trying to persuade she needs a check.

Caitlyn Weissman |

A feeling of dread gripped Caitlyn's heart. It was happening again, they where going to have to fight a being out of legends and nightmare. Somewhat woodenly, Gail suggests, "A Dragon? We'll need a distraction while you sneak out with the babes... I believe this will do." She gently pats Wyrmslayer. A sudden thought occurred to her and she asked the women, "What color was the Dragon? Do you know it's name?"

Jakun Stormhoof |

Jakun remains in the hall listening to the exchange, especially interested in the type of Dragon that would be used to guard children!

"They call her Ember," one woman said.
"No, it's Flamestrike, the pink one."
"What's Ember then?"
"The Highlord's dragon."
"They're not the same?! How's there room in the world for two of them?"

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

Some of you may know me. I am Mariel Uth Kaldar of Solamnia and SOlace. The gods of light, the True Gods have returned. Paladine, Mishakel, Kiri-Jolith, Habbakuk and Branchala and Majere. They have come to light our darkest hours. as she shows her medallion of faith., a soft platinum glow coming from inside it.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Jakun from the hallway calls inside, "Pssst. Revered Daughter, we can give a sermon later. We need to move and move quickly. No doubt Thistle's presence being detected has the enemy on the move. We need to rescue the children and the men if we can".
Jakun turns to Eben, "Can you stay here and guard these women sellsword?"

"Done," Eben said at once.

Caitlyn Weissman |

Caitlyn bowed her head and with a lump in her throat told the women thickly, "Pray for us, we shall deal with this Flamestrike."
Whipping around she sought out Jacun and whispered something to him, "Apparently the dragon is called Flamestrike. No prizes for guessing how it got that name, can you ward us?" Her voice voice cracked with emotion when she asked that, her fear of being burnt was apparently greater than her distrust of magic.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Jakun replies to Caitlyn, "Unfortunately, I can only shield one of us. Revered Daughter, have you the appropriate spells or at least spells that can bind would should we be injured by this legend come to life?"

If only you'd brought Goldmoon's body with you. :)

Samnell |

Paladine's powers of healing can be with us. However, would it be possible to hide here for the evening to gather out strength? she asks.
The women have no objection, but warn the Companions that guards come to fetch a some of them for work a few times a day.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Paladine's powers of healing can be with us. However, would it be possible to hide here for the evening to gather out strength? she asks.
From the doorway Jakun shakes his head, "I think not, if the Dragon did see Thistle and the rumble leads me to believe it did, wee need to move quickly, plus soon enough these Draconians we slew will be missed or at least replaced with a new guard watch".

Caitlyn Weissman |

Hmm what to do? Fighting a dragon unbuffed seems a poor idea, likewise getting discovered while we rest. I suppose we could rest back in the Sla Mori. Or shall we yell LEEROY JENKINS and do this?

Caitlyn Weissman |

Turning to her companions, Caitlyn asks "Dare we rest in the Sla Mori? We can't risk these people by staying here."
I don't mind if we rest or not, but please lets decide ;)

Mariel Uth Kaldar |

Perhaps a course of action now is best, giving the denizens of Pax Tharkas a chance to mobilize would not be in our best interests. Tell me are you prepared to move and move quickly she asks the captive women.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Jakun turns to Mittens, "As we begin to move I will protect you versus the Dragon's fire. If struck by it, you may convert its energies into another type of energy to discharge it back at the creature. Remember, do not throw its element back at it as it may well be able to resist such energy. I know that your hatred of these creatures will be strengthened by my magic".

"You get us the men and children and we'll move like the wind."
So, decision on rest vs. continue?

Caitlyn Weissman |

Gripping her hammer so tightly her knuckles made pipping noise, Caitlyn nodded, and gruffly stated, "Lets get this done, before I realize it's a terrible idea." Deliberately picking a fight with a Dragon wasn't something she regarded as being particularly smart. Still there seemed little option, given the hold it had over the women.
There wasn't anything more to say, as Caitlyn followed the directions they had been given that would lead them to Flamestrike's lair... She tried to keep her eyes open for lesser dangers, but the image of the dragon loomed large in her minds eye.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Any buffs before we fight the dragon would be appreciated. Bears endurance, haste, that kind of thing :)

Jakun Stormhoof |

"To aid us in getting to the children I can cast a sphere of invisibility. Getting away with the children will be a bit more difficult"

Caitlyn Weissman |

I was kind of hoping to move things on a little with my previous post :) Did Caitlyn find anything? Guessing no...
Earlier.
Patting her hammer, Caitlyn quipped to Jackun, "I'll give the dragon something to think about, while they escape."

Jakun Stormhoof |

Before we leave the area by the human women Jakun will cast Draconic Reservoir on Mittens duration 60 minutes protecting him from Fire.
As the group gets closer to the location where the women stated the Dragon as located he will cast Bear's Endurance on Caitlyn and Invisibility Sphere on the group as a whole.
Everyone has to stay within 10' of and not attack anyone to remain invisible. Everyone gains a +20 bonus on stealth checks if necessary. Lasts 6 minutes.

Earlier.

Wasn't sure if you wanted to go ahead without buffs.
The Companions pressed on, leaving the women in their chamber and ascending narrow stairs to gain Pax Tharkas' second level. At the foot of the stairs they slipped past a patrol of draconians and hobgoblins.
They found themselves in a hallway furnished with great care, every comfort and luxury attended to. A plush purple carpet blanketed the floor. Tapestries of rich red and gold decorated the walls. Each of several doors of dark-grained vallenwood boasted golden rivets, hinges, and latches.
The luxuries did not withstand close examination. Dark stains blotted the carpet. A wide, muddy trail marred the center of the floor. Someone had defaced the tapestries with charcoal and cut deep slashes in them.
A pair of hobgoblins stood guard at the far end. They held their weapons firm, but made sign of noticing the invisible Companions. A large gong hung within their easy reach, a heavy club attached to it by a thick rope.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Was it clear where the children are being held? Can we assume those far doors near the Hobgoblins?
Jakun will whisper to his companions, "I can approach these Hobgoblins in the guise of a Draconian and either send them away from the door or slay them as the rest of you remain invisible close by. Break the spell only if I seem in trouble or one is able to get close to the gong... Agreed?"

Caitlyn Weissman |

Caitlyn eyed the gong with a sense of dread. Ring that and trouble would come on the double, possibly even rousing the dragon. Jackun's invisibility spell gave her the shivers, but even with that she wasn't sure they could subdue the Hobgoblins before they rang the gong. So Jackun's plan came as a welcome surprise. "Choose a high ranking form if possible." she suggested.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Jakun steps back out of eyesight of the Hobgoblins and uses his hat to take the form of an Aurak Draconian. He then steps into the hall taking on an imperious air as he approaches the Hobgoblins.
"What are you fools doing here? Highlord Verminaard sent for you both ages ago! Wait..." He sniffs at them.
"Your disgusting smell may offend the Highlord. It smells like..." He sniffs at the air again.
"Failure".
His eyes bore into both guards like a predator does at cornered prey,"I suggest you both bathe, thoroughly, before you meet with his Lordship. After all, the failure of Fewmaster Toede clings to your kind like fungus. You don't want the Highlord to smell it and take his displeasure out upon the two of you, do you!?"
Intimidate Take 10 = 19
I am assuming here that Thistle shared what he heard with us to be able to utilize these names in this manner.

Ooops my bad! Let's go with the Bozak then!
