Ehdd slips under a bridge made of nothing but scrap metal to find Ratrod leaned up against his racer. The ysoki is covered in mottled gray and white fur, and a small crowd stands with him, photographing him and asking questions. A small ysoki child runs up and snaps a selfie with him.

"One at a time! There will be plenty of time for all of you to take a picture with the amazing -- yes -- THE AMAZING AND AUTHENTIC RAAATROD!" He shouts.

Ehdd approaches and Ratrod takes out a fresh marker. "Yes, yes, another autograph, well then, be on it with it," he says, waiting for something to sign. "Unless you want me to sign those waxy things! Wouldn't be the strangest place I've signed," he quips with a glance at Ehdd's mandibles.

Poppilo finishes his work on Laboni's car, then watches from the sidelines of Ratrod's crowd. He catches a sense of insecurity in Ratrod's words - as if he's taken some offense at the challenge to his legitimacy.

"Trust me, I can pilot that thing no problem," Velocity says, shaking their head at Faraeon. "It's the equipment that I need help with." They unfortunately need a mechanics check, and I don't think Faraeon is much of a tinkerer =\

Luck isn't on Faraeon's side, and instead of finding useful parts, he unearths a veritable nest of roaches underneath a slab of metal.

0689 and Ratatat are up to start an action, everyone else may continue their turn if the opportunity presented itself above!

Ehdd pauses for a moment to figure out what he wants signed, then snaps his fingers together and pops off his top hat with a flick of his head "Sign my hat!" He hands over the top hat and points to the very top for him to sign there.

"How 'bout you say: The day Ratrod CRUSHES Laboni!" He nods approvingly behind his glasses as he watches along.

"So whatcha gonna win with today? Some new rocket boosters or heat seeking missiles or something? Crazy grapple hooks? Let your fans in on your secret!" He gestures to the crowd.

Ratatatat looked over the improvements that 5, 9 and him done so far. "Hmmm...itsgettingthere...Stilllotstofixup...Imouttofindsomeshielding!"

Ratatatat races off into the junkyard to find some appropriate carbon plating to affix to the back of the racer but then finds an old railgun

"Hmmm..yesyesyes...thiswillwork!"

Ratrod appeases Ehdd and signs what he asks him to, grinning ear to ear. "There is no secret, shirren, just MAD SKILLZ!" He throws his fist in the air. "Yeah, skills and nothing else. No CHEATING especially." Ehdd senses the same as Poppilo, that Ratrod is annoyed that anyone would question his legitimate ways. "What about you, mandibles? Will you be racing? 'Cause if so, you're going down!"

Trash talk him, perhaps?

Ratatat and 0689 continue to upgrade the car, enhancing it with another weapon and stronger deflectors.

Ehdd can finish with Ratrod, but I'll take Round 3 actions now.

Ehdd takes his hat back and looks it over "Not bad. I expected your signature to be a bit more... cool?" He pops it back on his head with a shrug.

"Nah I don't race. I dance. Maybe if you win I'll give you and yer buds a free show!" He takes a few steps as if to leave before turning back "Glad you've decided to give up cheating, with all the rumors floating around to the contrary I'm glad you decided to clean up your act! You'd lose most your fans, and we all know fans bring in the creds!" Intimidate to make him nervous...: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 7 + (6) = 22

"OH YEAH?! A TOUGH GUY, ARE WE?!" Ratrod throws his marker down and pushes his way through the crowd, standing on his tiptoes to get in Ehdd's face (almost). "Cheating... Ya, ya, I've heard it all before. You're helping that Laboni labrat, aren't you? She doesn't stand a damn chance. She should be holed up studying books and geeky s~&+, NOT challenging THE Ratrod -" the crowd woos "- THE best of the best in this sport to a junkrace! Bah!" He slinks back down to stomach level and flips Ehdd the single finger salute as he walks away. "Tell Laboni she might want to wear a dust mask! HAHA!"

This has a morale bonus effect during the race, especially when Laboni is ahead of Ratrod.

Everyone is up for Round 3! Those upgrading the car for the next two rounds - feel free to post both Round 3 and 4 actions.

Ehdd does his best to imitate Ratrod's walk as he shuffles away in a series of .... dance moves. Prof:Dance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 But it mostly just looks like he's walking with a limp as he trips over a piece of discarded car parts. Well that sucked!

Ehdd heads back to the pit crew to see their progress and pass on the intell "I can see why you gave that Ratrod a piece of your mind Laboni! He's a real ass... but I think I got in his head. Not to mention an autograph!" He leans down to show off the top of his top hat.

After looking over the new car mods and nodding along like he had any idea what they actually did as the mechanics explained he snaps out of his daze and checks the race card to see if anyone else was left to pay a visit to. "Oh, one last other racer, Nyizin. Guess I should make a visit to try to drum up some support!"

Finally finding his groove around the racer, he notices that sights on some of the weaponry are not responding appropriately and begins to bring them into alignment.

Ehdd recalls that ryphorians hail from planet Triaxus. The species manifest a thick white fur and narrowed eyes during their planet's winter, and a smooth, dark skin during winter. Triaxus is currently locked in winter that will last 317 Pact Standard years, and for some reason, even ryphorians born offworld maintain their current winterborn form.

0689 spends the rest of his time further upgrading Laboni's racer, which now looks much more like a fine-tuned junkracer and less like a box on square wheels.

Everyone but 0689 and Faraeon still have Round 3 actions.

This guy is a mountain yeti! Holy s!!! man! He thinks to himself as he reads off the race card and starts looking around for someone that likely sticks out like a sore thumb around here.

Once he finds where he needs to go he introduces himself "Hey there, you Nyizin? Heard you're racin' today, just wanted to get a feel of who I should be droppin' a bet on!"

GM, did you include Poppilo's upgrading the speeder speed here? Think the speed upgrade should be +15 now.

Round 3
Seeing Ehd managing to antagonize Ratrod, Poppilo decides to head back to Laboni's yard and continues to find pieces to boost the speed of the racer. Hey, it's a race, right? The faster the better!

Sorry I've lost track. Which of the other racers have we not approached? I think the android was approached but he needed mechanics skills. And seems Ehdd might be going for the Ryphorian?

Ratatatat heads out looking for Velocity. Watching the pile of goodies lying around the racer and being slowly attached onto it by an android. He taps them on their thigh to get their attention.

Round 3 and 4

I-5 drags some plates towards their vehicle and quickly fixes them to the body, it looks even more ugly now, but at least it has some more protection.

Would my culture roll of 26 give me any insight to what she's talking about with her dragonkin and the race's 'honor' code? Or is that just a personal thing with her?

Ehdd - You're on the right track with that culture roll

Ehdd thinks back to his knowledge of Triaxus and ryphorians, and recalls that ryphorians formed a particular bond with intelligent dragonkin mounts during the millenia-long battle between the Allied Territories of Triaxus and the dragon-ruled nations of the Drakelands on Triaxus. The war ended with the coming of the Pact, when the evil dragons of the Drakelands saw the advantages of membership and trade with the Pact Worlds, but Nyizin's mount was a casualty she'd never forgotten about.

Ehdd nods solemnly "How long ago did you lose your dragon mount? It is good we always remember our friends and family, no matter how long ago they moved on. I wish you sweet luck in your race to beat down Ratrod and bring honor to your fallen friend."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

"Just so you know, Ratrod is a cheater and a fraud. Leave him in your dust!"

"Oh, you do know about us." Nyizin remarks in surprise. "Izzed was everything to me. I even built this racer in his honor," she says, pointing to the dragon bones forming the chassis. "I overloaded the thing too. It's what Izzed would've wanted! If you're after speed, I can teach you how to overload the thing. Watch this." She tinkers with the control panel for a few moments, and the engine roars loudly enough that it sounds like a dragon itself.

She teaches you how to overload Laboni's racer, which will double your speed for one round, but there's a 50% chance of an internal malfunction on the next round that will permanently reduce the racer's base speed by half... so be careful with that!

Looking over our status here, it seems we're just missing:
Ratatat (Round 4), Faraeon (Round 4), Ehdd (Round 4), Poppilo (Round 4)

Ehdd watches what the white furred racer describes and scratches his head a bit "Would you mind showing this is my mechanic friend? You're so far over my head with that! Good luck in the race!"

Ehdd heads back to the group, grooving along as he goes Who's the man? Ehdd's the man! Who can? Ehdd can!" He keeps his eyes peeled for any neat looking junk he finds as he goes. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d8 ⇒ 3

"Yo! One of you tinkerin' types wanna head over and talk to Nyizin, she's gonna teach us a cool trick about our engine here!"

He then pulls out a large... thing from behind his back "Oh, and I found this on the way back... it must be useful for us right?" It looks kinda like a mini flashlight that just needs to be hooked to a power source. +1 vehicle attack modifier. Sorry but I can't see Ehdd as knowing wtf he's looking for so I just rolled randomly.

I know all the races have been approached, but can we do any more with that? I'm wondering if I could try an intimidate check on Ratrod to really shake him up before the race gets going.

Seeing that his skills are still of no use in fixing up Laboni's car, Faraeon makes his way over to Ratrod's area. As he approaches and sees Ratrod's vehicle, he lets out a low whistle. "Wow! Not too bad, there, pal. Gotta say, though, you've got your work cut out for you. You've got all these vets from every corner of the Pact Worlds here to unseat you, not to mention this new upstart Labroni. Never really been tested has she? Guess there's no real way to know what she's capable of if you've never raced her. Guess you'll just have to wait for the race to see what you're up against. Well, Ratrod, my friend, good luck to you. You'll need it." And with that, Faraeon gives the ysoki a knowing smile and a wink, and turns to leave.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Ratatatat gives Velocity a nod as he finishes the last improvements to the thrusters. "Goodluckintherace...Seeyouatthefinishline."

Heading back to Labroni's racer he makes a quick detour looking for anything that might be useful for the racer. Spying just the thing he drags it back to the others.

"Gotthefinaladd...hoistthispulsecannonup...yeahrighttherePirateQueen...hold itwhileIsecureit...shesagem...surprisedtofinditouthere...mountthisonthetop. ..withathreesixtyturret...letmehookituptothecore...yuptherewego!"

take 10 Engineering. Add an energy weapon. Sure there must be at least three of who have +1 BaB or 1 rank in piloting.

So that trick that Nyizin taught us should probably only be used right at the very end, where the double speed will bring us through the finishing line?

Round 4 and 5
Poppilo, seeing that various members of the team, has approached the other competitors decides to focus on improving the racer, which seems it needs much help.

He decides to focus on finding more rocket boosters to speed up the vehicle. Hey, it's a race, right? The fastest racer wins!

Take 10 for perception for total of 18 for both rounds 4 and 5 to boost speed for total of +10.

"GAAHH!!" Ratrod picks up a handful of dirt and tosses it at Faraeon as the lashunta walk away. "GET BACK HERE AND FACE ME LIKE A MAN! Look at him run away after talking s+&#!" The crowd looks divided, with many of them recognizing Faraeon having seen him in the media. "WHATEVER! It's on, now! Oh, it's SO on! GAH!" He turns and stomps away, digging through piles of junk in search of one final upgrade.

I'll start us up tonight!

With the upgrades complete, Laboni approaches you and thanks you warmly. "The ride looks AMAZING. Great job! What about a name for it? Have you thought of one?"

Afterwards, she drops into the seat and secures her seatbelt, slamming the door shut. She hands you a remote control. "If you think you can do better than me, feel free to take control of the racer!" She revs the engine a few times, gives you the thumbs up and drives up to the start line.

A sizeable crowd cheers on each competitor riding up to their starting positions, especially Ratrod, who holds a closed fist out of his window. Carved out from a mountain of scrap, the course remains barricaded in walls of multicoloured metal and dirt, protecting any spectators from harm should someone go off route. A robot decked out in bronze and a red and white racing jacket stands at a control panel, and a floating traffic light hovers just above the start, its thruster firing rhythmically to keep it afloat.

"LADIES AND NONBINARY, ANDROIDS AND HUMANS, VESKS AND SHIRREN, CREATURES AND PEOPLE OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES FROM ACROSS THE PACT WORLDS!" The robots voice booms throughout the area. "WELCOME TO JUNKRACER TITLE SERIES MXCVII, WHERE RATROD SEEKS TO DEFEND HIS TITLE AGAINST LABONI." Cheers and the sound of weapons powering up fills the air. "READY? SET?" Beep... Beep... Beep "GO!"

The traffic light flares green and the ground ahead illuminates with white chevrons indicating the path forward.

And we're off! There's no need to roll initiative since everything happens simultaneously, although we'll proceed in rounds. The text specifically indicates that if a PC has nothing to do, they may take control of another racer's car so long as you've allied with them. You have allied with Lemgem and Velocity. The others helped you but refused to specifically form an alliance.

Each round has two phases:
1. All racers may fire their weapons by rolling a ranged attack roll. Laboni's car stats are below (including its upgrades). Each weapon can only be fired once per round. Let me know who you're firing at and with what weapon.
2. Piloting phase. One PC rolls a DC 16 Piloting check (you cannot take 10) modified by your and the vehicle's bonus.

Round 1, GO!

Ratatatat takes the remote and then watches the door close. Taking a step back he opens his com up so he can communicate with Laboni. "Sitbackandbucklein...Iwasborntorace...andyougotafrontrowseat...whenyoupass bythatRatrod...makesuretogivethetwofingersalute!"

Turning to the others he smiles and gestures for them to take a control for each gun. "Grabem...lockem...andloadem!"

Round 1

(Pilot chk) Ready...Set... GOOO!: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 4 = 16

Ratatat jams his paw on the control almost causing the racer to spin out of control at the starting gate. "Hmmpph...stickwasjamming...holdon!"

I just move the racer along. No maneuvers correct?

Faraeon takes a seat and grabs the control for the blue azimuth weapon on Laboni's racer. Peering through the display panel atop the controller he rotates the directional dial until he had Ratrod's vehicle in his sights. He takes a breath, steadies his aim, and squeezes the trigger.

Blue Azimuth (Piloting), Faraeon bonus: 1d20 - 4 + 8 ⇒ (17) - 4 + 8 = 21

Lemgem hops into her little gnome car, reaches for her seat belt and then laughs her little gnome laugh Der, Gnomes don't use safety equipment! Dying in a fiery crash sounds like too much fun!

She reaches her hand out the open window and waves at all her fans before pointing at Ratrod and giving him the bird. She then slams both feet down on the accelerator just at the right time! Pilot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Androids I-5 and 0689 both grab controls of the weapons and fire at Ratrod.
0689, Green Acid: 1d20 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (15) - 1 + 4 = 18
I-5, Bazooka: 1d20 - 1 + 3 ⇒ (6) - 1 + 3 = 8

Attack Phase
Velocity is the first to fire a blast from their racer, the shot flying wide, into a pile of a junk with a FWOOM. Faraeon's aim is much better, but the blast of energy slams into an invisible energy barrier, absorbing it! Ratrod yells out of his car, "Sucker! Try that s$$% again, I dare you!"

0689 activates the green acid cannon, and this time, the blast smashes into Ratrod's fender! The ysoki SCREAMS out in frustration. "DAMN IT!!!" I-5 can't quite figure out the controls, and the kinetic weapon misfires.

Ratrod, Energy weapon: 1d20 - 3 + 8 ⇒ (20) - 3 + 8 = 25
Ratrod fires back at Laboni, the blast smashing into one of her wheels. "HAHA! GOTCHA!"

Nyizin and Orsis both turn their guns at Ratrod. "This guy's being a jerk. Let's teach him a lesson, shall we?"
Nyizin, energy weapon vs Ratrod: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 3 = 13
Orsis, kinetic weapon vs Ratrod: 1d20 - 3 + 6 ⇒ (11) - 3 + 6 = 14
Ratrod's racer is blasted twice more, and it begins to veer from left to right from the damage.

Piloting Phase
Piloting, Ratrod, 3 penalties: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 4 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 - 4 - 4 - 4 = 16
Piloting, Orsis: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 19
Piloting, Nyizin: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15
Ratatat slams down on the throttle, Laboni's wheels screaming to life as they burn out against the dirt, soon gaining traction. The damage from Ratrod's blast causes the car to veer out of control, and it slams into the side lines! -4+2 insight gives you a 14, not quite enough for Ratatat's roll. Laboni moves at half speed this round, so 325 ft.

Ratrod's racer is pretty damaged, but he handles the racer like a pro and zips ahead, into the lead! Orsis also zooms ahead while Nyizin's luck is off, and she skids ahead at half speed.

Velocity and Lemgem stroll ahead with ease, but Ratrod has taken the lead!

Bear with me here, because it's a lot of rolls! If anything was rolled in error, let me know!

Round 2, GO!

Blasting Ratrod!: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11
Drivin like its stolen!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Lemgem smiles and waves at the crowd as she flies up towards the front, the only car ahead of her is that bastard Roddy Ratface "Hey little whiskers, your tail is crooked!" She laughs and hits the big red button to send her Gnome-faced missile at his barely holding on fender.

She's far too busy waving and shooting to remember to keep that accelerator to the floor... This is SO MUCH FUN!

Ratatatat curses as he tries to maintain control of the vehicle as he feels the wheel completely shred following Ratrod's blast. He tries to correct the racer barely getting any traction

Lemgem fires her machine gun at Ratrod, opening up dozens of holes in his hood! "STUPID GNOME!!" 0689 remotely launches a blob of acid that soaks into Ratrod's wheel. I-5 has less luck with the bazooka, and the shot flies into a heap of metal. Meanwhile, Orsis' car skids sideways as Velocity blasts it.
