Seeing the final zombie pop, Jan glides forward past the door and keeps his rifle covering the alleyway the moaning, reloading his rifle and saying. "I'll cover while you guys talk that door open "

Gamuzali nods as Jan covers the southern alleyway. He moves toward the door and carefully checks for traps.

Gamuzali's inspection of the door doesn't reveal any traps, but he can tell that the door is locked and possibly barricaded from the other side. It seems to be made from fairly study steel. He also notes that the windows along the front side of the house appear to have been barricaded from the other side (with what look to be boxes, crates, and in one case a refrigerator). Since the windows have been barricaded, you can't quite see what might be inside. (I've marked the windows with green boxes)
In response to Mustachio's entreaty, a panicked voice from inside calls out "We're not opening up! If we open for you, one of the patients might get in!" Another voice calls out "We didn't do anything wrong!"
Before you can continue the conversation, another zombie shuffles its way out from between two buildings back the way you came and staggers down the road towards you! (New zombie with blue outline) Unlike the others so far, this one seems to be heading right for you!

The cyberzombies stagger out of the alleyway. These two look somehow even worse than the others you've come across thus far. The black threads radiate out thickly from augmentations at their throats and their limbs seem bloated and swollen.
One of them (purple) approaches Gamuzali and swings at him with an arm that moves as if its boneless. The arm whips around with surprising speed and strikes the vesk in the chest. Dealing 6 points of damage.
The other zombie almost trips and falls as it exits the alleyway. Its head lolls back, neck not properly holding it up. Knowing the danger the party is in from these zombies, but unable to pass up a tactical opportunity when it arises, Gamuzali steps into a flanking position with Jan. He lowers his rifle and holds it with one hand while freeing up the hand on which he wears his thunder strike gauntlet. As he pulls his hand pack as if to deliver a punch, a whine of energy marks the gauntlet's charging sequence. He aims for the back of the zombie's head and strikes.

While both of Jan's attacks narrowly miss the zombie, Gamuzali's pulse gauntlet bursts its skull like a rotten melon. The zombie collapses to the ground and, mercifully, does not explode.
With both of the threats dealt with, the group of you stand in a street littered with the gore of exploded cybernetic zombies. The remaining moans echoing through the air of the district seem far further away. You likely have significantly more time before any more zombies arrive.
The more immediate sound seems to be coming from inside the house, as some kind of heavy objects are being pushed around, probably to reinforce the barricades behind the door and windows.
Combat Over.

"I must advise you though, that my collegues are some of the most effective mercenaries on this station. A door won't hold them forever, but it may be too long. If they are forced to breach the door, and then more of your patients show up, there will be no way to keep any of them out."

Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
| GM Cellion |
The party sends a mix of messages through the door, alternately being threatening, cajoling or attempting trickery to get the shirren inside to open up. Ultimately, you all hear the occupants inside turn silent for almost a minute, and then finally respond with "If you just want to talk, or if you want to help us, we can let you in. But it'd be best if you just leave. We can handle the rest of our mistakes on our own. We've already stopped the source, so all we have to do is make sure the last of the patients are dealt with..."
There's a clear undercurrent of hysteria in the voice of the speaking shirren. It seems that between the stress of defending against the zombies, and the intimidation from Twik and Sarangari, these two are near their mental breaking points. Nevertheless, you hear the barricade behind the front door being shifted aside and the door being unlocked from the inside. Once that's done, they don't open the door. Clearly, they're still hoping that you'll turn around and leave.
Jan Collins
|
Jan catches his breath some, wishing he had time to rest in case these fools got uppity but still nods at the two Vesk. "Looks like we're going in."
Looking at the mustachioed actor, "Wanna check for traps this time Mr 'stashe?"
Sarangari Steelscales
|
Heedless of any traps, surely all the banging would have set any off, Steelscales bursts into the room looking very, very annoyed.
"No, the best thing would be for you to explain what in Damoritosh's name is goin' on. I haven't decided whether or not to report you for the murder of these halflings yet so make it good."
Jaqweh Navar
|
Jaqweh hustles to follow Steelscales in, his weapon still drawn but pointed toward the ground and his left hand held up in a sign of peace.
"Gentlebeings, thank you for letting us in off the street. My colleagues and I are, I think you'd agree, understandably upset about all of ... this...," he finishes with a wave of his hand toward the street outside.
"What do you mean when you say you've stopped the source? And how many patients were there? We put down four outside, plus Mr. Shenge. And we saved Ms. Maija by removing your augmentations."
| GM Cellion |
Sarangari opens the door and you all see a shirren backing away from the doorway. It shakes its head, one hand up as if to stop you all from entering. As it backs up, it almost trips over one of the stools next to a dining room table.
It seems to be shuddering and shaking, and it hesitantly responds to Sarangari with "N-no. We won't- we can't- go to jail for this! None of it was our fault. All this, it's been punishment enough!"
To Jaqweh's more measured tone, it mutters "W-we imported some tech. An, ooze, that was supposed to take apart and assemble augments. But we didn't know this, any of this, would happen! Dear Hylax! After the ooze ate Kinnakt and started making augments... we had to use them... you don't understand... we had debts and..." It shakes its head, its rant gradually becoming less comprehensible.
Sarangari Steelscales
|
"Ok, you can calm down. If this is all an accident we're here to help." Sarangari nods for Jaqweh to continue. He knows the only help he can offer with this sort of thing is letting the doctors know he's not interested in biting their heads off anymore. In either sense.
| GM Cellion |
The shirren continues shuddering, Sarangari's words not doing much to calm its frayed nerves.
Map has been updated to show the interior of the house. I'll hold off on any further responses until folks get a chance to post their next actions.

Gamuzali advances into the building behind his companions. As the shirren blubbers about their self-inflicted state, he moves past them, checking the other doors and windows to see if they are secure.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 8
He then returns to his companions and addresses the shirren, "You're sure you dealt with the source? Do you mean you destroyed the ooze you were talking about? And how many more patients are there?"
Jaqweh Navar
|
Jaqweh carefully approaches the single Shirren.
"Relax, please. Are you Vrisken or Theskell? How should I address you, as Doctor or something else? My name is Jaqweh Navar," he begins, hoping that mundane and non-threatening introductions will help calm their nerves.
Diplomacy, Exp.: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 10 + (4) = 21
Guys, where did the other one go? We distinctly heard two different voices earlier.
Jan Collins
|
Jan glides in with the rest of the group checking corners and not trusting these cowards any further than he can throw them.
Knowing he lacked the silver tongue of some of his team, he lets them do the talking.
Mustachio Marino
|
Mustachio, uncharacteristically quiet recently, walks over to Jan and whispers to him. "I think the best course of action is simply to detain these Shirren and call the authorities. But the others seem intent on talking them down, and all this talk of help seems to be too merciful. What do you think? Shall we simply call the Stewards and make sure they land in jail?"
| GM Cellion |
The shirren shies away from Jaqweh as the lashunta approaches, eventually putting the table between them. He manages to say "Vrisken, and Kinnakt was the doctor. We- we did our best but- The business world is cut throat, if you don't have an edge you just... die off." It balls its claws into fists.
Jaqweh also spots the second shirren, using a couch in the living room as a form of cover as it watches the proceedings warily.
At Gamuzali's question, Vrisken responds "The source is... contained. And in any case, we won't be trying to install any new augments, now that we know what they do. Not unless we could fix what's wrong with them..."
Gamuzali
|
"I think it's clear you're out of your depth when it comes to these augments. Where is the ooze?"
Jan Collins
|
Jan scoffs.
"Fix the augments?! You would dare to keep using these things? How many have you killed? A dozen, more?"
Aside to Moustache, "Aye, the authorities, or at least the starfinders need to be notified. Best do it quietly, these shirrin seem jumpy."
The soldier keep an eye on these mad doctors rifle not quite pointing at them, but close to hand.
Mustachio Marino
|
Mustachio walks out of the room, leaving the Shirrens to his teammates, and puts a call into the Absalom Station's security forces. "We have cornered some murderers; those who implanted degraded cybernetics into several folks here which resulted in their death. We are members of the Starfinder Society who have tracked them to this location." Mustachio leaves his comms on so they are able to track his position.
Sarangari Steelscales
|
"Who sold you this ooze?" Steelscales asks then turns to his companions. "We better track down the supplier or else we'll just be doin' the same thing next week. And where is he goin'?" he asks about Mustachio, "He better not be callin' the stewards in before we get to the bottom of this."
Jaqweh Navar
|
Jaqweh looks back at his friends and quirks an eyebrow at their mention of calling for the Stewards.
"Well, technically, the Stewards are already here."
He turns back to Vrisken, but makes it clear that he's also talking to Theskell hiding behind the couch.
"Vrisken, we're here to help. But you need to completely answer our questions. Now. No more excuses. No more stories. My ... colleagues ... are out of patience. You don't want to see them get angry."
He pauses to let that sink in. As Twik enters the room, Jaqweh inclines his head toward the door to draw the Shirren's attention to the very deadly halfling who has every reason to murder them for what they've done to his community.
"First, since we've asked this more than once. How. Many. Patients?"
"Next, where is the ooze, and what did you do that makes you think you've 'dealt with it,' as you say?"
| GM Cellion |
The accusations leave Vrisken stammering, both out loud and in short telepathic pulses, but once Jaqweh announces that the Stewards are already here, a change of demeanor sweeps over the shirren. "Y-you're with the Stewards? Y-you won't take us in! We're getting out of here!!!"
Vrisken unslings a pistol from his belt and points it right at Jaqweh!
