I am your Bot. Please don't use me.
I serve your GM by calculating your initiatives and bulk perception checks.
If you know that you'll need my services, please inform your GM.
I am not clever or smart, and I will eventually make mistakes. These mistakes--while hopefully rare--might result in your character's death.
If your party needs your combat actions, a skill check, or (in rare circumstances) a saving throw, in order to progress, and you have not posted within 24 hours of the start of the round or the event prompting a skill check or saving throw, I will activate the bot on your behalf.
Seriously, though, if there's an emergency or some other barrier to your posting, I will try my best for you, but PbP games are like sharks. They need to keep moving.

Starfinder registration is now open. You'll find it the same way you make new PFS characters. There's a new option underneath ACG registration. It will generate the -70X character number.
I don't have the pregens yet to share.

Yo! GM Andrew, your mechanic here! Started setting stuff up for myself since it will be hard for me next week to do so. Hopefully my stat line will do.
It's also worthy of note I am GMing this in a couple days, so I will be familiar with the scenario.

Drone~ |

*BZZ BZZ* I'm Quig's drone. (Gave it a generic name so I can use the alias for other drones in the future... also there are no good flying drone images on Paizo as of the time I'm posting this)

Quig~ |

Someone pointed out to me that Quig's attack bonus on his pistol should be +5 instead of +4, since he has +2 dex and +3 BAB.
Trip starting soon, so will post when I can on Friday when we start.

GM Blake |

It probably wouldn't matter too much. When I ran it cold for a table at GenCon, I didn't notice the Info Desk gave me 1st level pregens and the players didn't tell me, and they did fine. I think this special is just to show off the mechanics.
But noted.

1-00: Claim to Salvation involves Starship combat. If you've read the Starfinder Starship Combat rules, you know that each round is done in phases with each side taking a type of action each phase. Translating it directly to PbP would potentially cause starship combat to take an inordinate amount of time. Therefore, I am going to playtest a sort of pre-rolling modification. It does allow you to get a bit more meta than you probably should be able to be, but I hope it will make things flow much easier.
I should have the final test version ready before we enter starship combat.

Starfinder Pregen -Xynen- |

Iseph the Operative is ready to go when Gameday hits. Looking forward to see how Space Combat works. Imagine it's going to be an interesting few months while the boards weed out the problems with it, but I'm excited nonetheless.

For starship combat, really the most important thing tactics wise for order of things is the helm phase. Getting a high pilot check and going last with movement is a huge tactical advantage. The engineering and gunner phases are also essential, but order of turn between starships doesn't matter as much for those.

GM Blake |

True, but for the Speed-of-Post.
Let's say Starship combat begins at 7 AM on Day 1 and I call for initiative.
Engineer is working days and very busy.
Pilot is working nights and very busy.
Science Officer is working days and very busy.
Let's say I work nights and am very busy.
Pilot rolls for Initiative and looses at 6:30 PM on day 1.
I call Engineering phase at 9 AM on Day 2.
Engineer rolls Engineering to boost engines at 11 AM on Day 2.
Science Officer scans at 9 PM on Day 3.
I report scan results and call Helm phase at 8:30 AM on Day 3.
Pilot posts his move just before work at 4:45 PM on Day 3.
I post enemy Helm phase at 10 AM on Day 4 and call Gunnery phase.
Gunners post last attack at 5 PM on Day 4.
I post enemy attacks at 9 AM on Day 5 and repeat.
4+ days for 1 round of combat.
Obviously, it can be faster than that, but it can also easily be as slow as that, and that's not including the complication of Time Zones.

Ship navigation lights are in play: red = port (left), green = starboard (right). The arrow point is the forward/facing point of the ship. Blue arrow ship is you.
You can change your roles each round of ship combat, but you must change before the Engineering Phase. For our purposes, you choose your roll when you make your pre-rolls, which I will explain later.
There can be only ONE Captain.
There can be only ONE Pilot.
There can be only as many Gunners as there are weapons (4 in this case)
There can be any number of Engineers (minimum 0).
There can be any number of Science Officers (minimum 0).

Quig~ |

From what I'm looking, it looks like these are the best roles for each character (with secondary roles in parentheses):
Navasi: Captain (or Science Officer/Pilot)
Quig: Engineer (or Science Officer)
Taia: Science Officer (or Engineer)
Iseph: Pilot (Iseph is really good at everything, though)
Obozaya: Gunner
Keskodai: Gunner (or Science Officer)

Raia - Iconic Technomancer |

I agree. My intention was to get a good scan off to start and then go where is needed afterwards.

Quig~ |

I thought Science Officers ask during the Helm phase, along with the Pilot:
1. Engineering (Engineers)
2. Helm (Pilot/Science Officers)
3. Gunning (Gunners)
... and the Captain comes in when they during one of those phases.
Either way, doesn't matter too much when it comes to scanning. Matters more for targeting.

Raia - Iconic Technomancer |

So do the Science Officers get another roll towards something? I'll happily roll again if so! I'll look at options just in case.
If I'm slowing things down, feel free to bot me. I'm still getting the feel for space combat and learn through example.

Quig~ |

No, each character only gets one roll per round. (There's some special exceptions when you have a small crew, but that's usually for crews of 1 or 2 so I wouldn't even worry about those rules)
There's also a very unofficial rule by Thursty that droids can't help in Spaceship combat. (One with I greatly agree with, especially in a larger party like 5-6 players)

GM Blake |

Andrew is correct: Science Officer does go in Helm phase. My mistake during the crafting of my PbP system. I think it still works best at the end of the Engineering phase, but if you want to hold your Science Officer roll (usually for target enhancement) for the Helm phase after the Pilot has moved, that's fine, just spoil your roll during the Initiative/Engineering phase.
And you guys are all doing fine.

Quig~ |

No worries. I'm trying to avoid launching into full explanation mode as I absolutely love subsystems in RPGs. (I loved Mass Combat and Group Chases in Pathfinder)
