Alright, got some of the shields up. We're doing great right now. Since it's some people's first time with this, strategy-wise, here are some suggestions:
Pilot: We're doing fine here. Just make sure to continue to be mindful of positioning relative to where our guns and enemy guns are.
Captain: Pretty much anything you do is useful.
Gunners: Blast away! It's always good to focus fire on one ship just like it is in normal combat.
Engineering: If other's don't mind, my character is really good at this and I'm just going to continue to mend the shields as best I can. If it starts getting critical I may call for some more to help with system failures, but until then I'm going to stay there.

Some hints from the GM:
1. Be mindful of your weapon range. I didn't post their ranges because you can look them up in the Core book, but your particle beam has twice the range on their turrets. [EDIT] Oh, and you didn't roll high enough to get the data on their jury-rigged turret weapons.
2. For this fight, piling on the weapons fire is going to be more useful than scanning for more than what Raia got you. You need to be at least level 6 (to have 6 ranks in Computers) to perform at Target Lock, so that's a no go for you guys in this scenario.

Just want to say you're doing an awesome job GM Blake, I can see why everyone was so worried about running ship combats on PbP, but this seems like a really efficient way to do it without losing player agency.

Thanks, Xynen. I really appreciate hearing that.
I was trying to emulate as close as I could the "bold may go"-sort it out later method of tactical combat that most GMs use in PF PbP. The tough part is that ships are always in flux on the map and at the beginning of the round, you don't know what weapons you'll be firing. So hopefully people don't mind too much my rolling their damage.

I'm having a blast with it too. I've only had experience with this from the GM's perspective, not the player's. It's fun!
(I also secretly like playing healers, and Engineers are the healers in Starship Combat)

I am afraid your captain will be out for the next few days, so feel free to bot her to impressively aid where she can.
I'll be back in full on Sunday.
I am going to re-read the ship combat rules a few times when I can! But so far, this seems to be moving quite well.

Stuck at work late today, just got home a little while ago. Figuring out flight plan as I post this, sorry for the delay.

Quig~ |

The Environmental Protection stuff is under "Environmental Protections" and "Activation and Duration."

FYI friends, I have been blessed/cursed with a trainee at work until at least mid October. So on the days I work, I will be posting once in the evening when I get home. On days off, it should be like normal.

Quig~ |

FYI, for the "Personal Comm Units in Armor" thing, it's on page 430 of the Core Rulebook under the "Planetary" heading.

Starfinder Pregen -Xynen- |

Unless I'm mistaken, combat does not instantly reveal a hidden PC but if no one moves up than iseph will fall back. No point in trying to secure an advantageous position if it gets you killed.

Z..D.. Pregen |

With laser rifles and such. Range is not that big of a deal. I moved Obo to cover behind a pieces of junk.

GM Blake |

I'm working to day and can't access maps well from work--at least not one with nine million goblins--so expect update in 9-10 hours.

GM Blake |

GM Blake |

Chronicles and a copy of the Welcome boon if you need it.
I apologize for the delay.
Hope you had fun!

Starfinder Pregen -Xynen- |

So there's been a rules clarification on the Chronicle for this:
You can read it here. Basically we get 720 credits, not 500.

GM Blake |

That's for pointing that out. Go ahead on print a copy of Thurston's post, which Xynen linked, to attach to the Chronicle and make the changes to the credits with my blessing.
If anyone wants me to do reprint them (because you have stickler GMs in your area or something), let me know, but it could be a while as I head into a long work stretch.
