True's words ring out through the cave as the knight of Iomedae makes her will known. Both holy warriors have approached with diplomacy, though Feldspars actions are far less inflexable than True's.

The youngest man sobs quietly as the pain and shock of the situation overwhelms him "Jonas, I don't wanna die. I wanna see Ma again!"

There is a moment of quiet from the room before the sound of Jonas sword striking the cave floor can be heard. "Damnit....I owe the man nothing. He set us up for a fall is what he did, and not a mention of the goblins attacking was made to us, I can tell you that. Come and treat my brother, we'll offer no resistance and I'll tell you all you want to know". The sound of defeat lies heavy in his voice, and he mutters for his other brother to lay down the crossbow as well. It appears as if the Creedy's have chosen not to die this day.

After the group moves in and takes their weapons from them, Jonas sits dejectedly at the now upright table and tells them his tale. "I was approached by old man Kaijitsu himself to organise the robbery. He said he wanted the new head priest to fail at his ceremony, since his church had failed to help his wife so many years ago when she topped herself. I didn't care what reason he gave, just the fact he was offering good cash for the job and he had contacts with folk I was hoping to meet one day. We'd have done it for less but he was payin' for us to keep quiet too."He scowls then, rubbing at his grizzled jaw as he continues. "The bastard gave us some wine to celebrate along with the payment, though he told us not to drink it till after the job. Lucky I'm the suspicious type though. I used me Ma's amulet before we fled town to check the stuff, and sure enough he'd poisoned it." He looks hard then at the group, knowing there's no going bac for him now. "Ifn' you want the man as was relly responsible for that Goblin attack, Lonjiku Kaijistu is the one to take in. All we did was boost some flashybangs."

Up to you what you do with the boys from here. It's easy enough to bind them and get them into their boat, then swing around to collect yours as well. I ran that as a skill challend btw, requiring a number of successful social checks for success. Well done all.

Oh yes, almost forgot, that encounter plus the investigation work leading up to it will get you all to level 2, though I haven't worked out the exact xp. Will do so this weekend.

Male Dwarf Paladin / 4

As the conversation starts, Feldspar is going to detect evil to get a sense of how far down the wrong path the boys have gone.

Feldspar listens with a firm expression but remains silent for the time being.

Sense Motive Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Idrian's face shows his dislike of the agreement, but he says nothing. He does bind their hands to 'keep them out of more trouble'. "Let me get this straight. Lonjiku Taijitsu, the councilman. The one whose daughter, Ameiko, owns the Rusty Dragon. That Lonjiku Taijitsu? He hired you to steal fireworks to ruin the dedication of the new chapel Not only that, but you would have us believe he is in league with goblins to... what? Take over the town? No. That won't due. Unless you have something to prove what you just said, I suggest you come up with the actual person you're working for."

As Idrian, Tania is taken aback by the disclosed information. That doesn't make ANY sense! Perhaps this is why it's actually possible... Would Ameiko be involved too? And how can that man deal with goblins, let alone coordinate them!!!

Tania, with a clearly puzzled face, helps with the binding. She asks: "Where and when did you meet him? Give us something more than the Creedy's word!"

Feldspar

AS the Paladin invokes his god given power to detect evil he sees various aura's from the Creedy's. The youngest boy emits nothing, his time with these men having obviously had little effect on his soul. Jonas, the eldest Creedy has a mild aura, the colour is at a low ebb right now, but experience tells Feldspar it has greater potential than what is currently showing.

The surprising aura comes from the second Creedy brother, the one who so far has remained quiet. His aura reads brightly evil, though not overly powerful. This man bears watching, as his aura shows no signs of control or restraint, unlike Jonas'.

Also of some surprise is the fact that Jonas appears to be telling the truth. At least as much as he is aware.

For all

No deal has been made yet. The Creedy's pretty much just gave up under the obvious threat and negotiations from the gorup. It doesn't mean they won't try something later, but for now they are compliant.

Female Human Cleric 2

"Do you have the poisoned wine still? The payment can you show it and what it came in?" True takes a seat opposite them.

Tania looks long and hard at Jonas: "What you're saying is that you've been fooled by Kaijutsu. We got that, and we'd like to believe you. But understand that unless we can prove anything, we have no way to verify your claim. Give us something!"

Ima try something weird. <_<

"If you still have the wine bottle, I can try and see if the poison is of a more...."refined" origin, so to speak.", Algus tells the eldest Creedy. he feels a rather great curiosity to see if this man is telling the truth, for it'd make the situation far more interesting.

Mr. Wrath:

now I have a question, having to do with terms of Lore, a bit. <_< I know that there's a Black Market, but...is there varying degrees of poison quality? by that I mean, are there "cheap" poisons and "high-quality" poison? also, what kind of Skill Check would I have to make? that's what I'm wondering about. if all these are considered "too Meta" questions, I apologize and will not insist on an answer, just curious is all.

Jonas shakes his head as he's questioned on the whereabouts of the poisoned wine. "We didn't bring the stuff with us. Ma most like as not got rid of it, though she may have kept it as a just in case."

He looks at the folk that have brought he and his brothers to heel and shakes his head. "I got nothin' else but the coins the man paid us with, and they're solid kings own, same as you all carry most like."

He indicates a small chest to one side of the room that most likely has their earning inside it. Within are a number of sacks of coins and some small gems. One of the sacks has the gold he was atalking about, and it is of fine quality leather, bound with a distinctive red silk cord.

"You asked me for a name, and I gave you the one you needed. Now what's ter be done with me and me brothers. Ifn' you take us back to town, we'll be lynched, sure as sure. Let us go and we'll cut for Magnimar and be no more trouble for you or Sandpoint. It was what we was plannin' anyway, only we were goin' to wait till things cooled a bit. There's goblins everywhere in the woods at the moment, and the Sheriff will have men watching the other trails and coast. What's it ter be?"

Algus

Spoiler:
The check would be alchemy but would require you to be back at your lab. As you get more skill ranks in that, I will allow for on the spot identifies with alchemy checks using samples and powders and such, almost like a mini lab kit you bring with you.

There are indeed levels of poison. Things like aresnic and certain herbs are easily come by, since they occur naturally, though aresnin needs to be refined. Poisons more exotic than that require sourcing and refining in labs, so they are certainly blak market items.

However, Kaijitsu is a wealthy nobleman and well connected. It would be very easy for someone like him to get access to refined poisons.

"I don't believe you. You're going back to hang."

Tania feels uncertain as she hears Idrian pass sentence. She takes the bag of coin and studies it to see if there was anything particular about it that could confirm or not their story.

Female Human Cleric 2

"That is a matter for the authorities, Creedy. But the truth is that the law demands you go to jail and then Sheriff Hemlock will take care of you until you face judgement. However I will vouch for you as far as the willing help you have given and explain that your son really had no choice in the matter as a minor. You did not kill anyone directly, that was the goblins but you did place the incendaries and for that you should stand trial. Idrian may be right but that is not for me to say, is it? That is for the law to decide. Forget Magnimar and think of your son's future. Come with us back to Sandpoint and the jail. I promise that I will do all I can to confirm your story and show who was truly behind the attack on our town."

True stares steadily at the leader of the family. Waiting.

A look of concern shows on Jo'no's face as he stands silently in the background.

"We certainly have a lot of loose ends right now. I believe that Feldspar can help us get to the truth of the matter. We should first visit Ameiko to see if she has evil intent running through her veins. Does she know of father's involvement in dire affairs?"

"Given that we are deemed "heroes", surely we could arrange a meeting with Lonjiku, so Feldspar can also determine his true intentions."

"As for the Creedy's, returning them to town will most certainly be a death sentance for them and likely their mother, as their employers will certainly be seeking retribution. I suspect they will choose to die here at a fate that they see coming, rather than in a jail cell when they never know when an assassin is going to strike. That is not the type of blood I want I my hands."

Jono pauses to consider the options.

"The Creedy's were not aware of the full plan, that I believe. They still intended to commit an attack against the welfare of the community and should be punished. I do not believe that death is what they deserve, especially since I don't think they were acting out of pure malice or hate for the town. Returning them to town is a death sentance, and I would not like to be involved in that."

"What would be a suitable punishment for these three, that does not involve taking them to town?"

Jono looks at the Creedy's, "what can you offer us as to your punishment?"

Sorry for the delay, had my live game last night. One of the PC's ended up dying which shocked us all a bit. Good times. Will update tonight after I finish work. Cheers

"Are you the law now?" Idrian asks Jo'no. "And what genius asks a criminal what his punishment should be? We were tasked with bringing the Creedy's in alive or dead and that's just what I'm going to do. If the rest of you decide to free them, then I'll hunt them down like dogs and bring back proof of their deaths for the sheriff, mayor, and council. The only way to stop me will be to kill me." Idrian stops there to let his words sink in.

Female Human Cleric 2

"Perhaps the two of you could sort out your differences outside. It is poor form to discuss these matters before the Creedy's." Not angry but more than a little annoying by the openness of this argument, True nevertheless continues,

"Jo'No, too many people died in the burning tenements and other buildings for us to let them go. It is not your decision or Idrian's or mine, it belongs to the law officers and that means Sheriff Hemlock. Any other way leads to chaos and makes us no better than the goblins picking and choosing which laws to follow when we like."

"Idrian, whatever your anger or issues with this now is not the time. No one will be set free and your threats only make things more heated. Calm down and realise that the Creedy's will face punishment for their crimes. That is not for us to decide here and now. But you are right, we must take them in."

Jono simply gives a friendly smile as he endures Idrian's verbal assault.

"Although everyone here may think that they are only doing what is tasked, be sure of one thing. You are acting as judge jury and executioner if you return the Creedy's to town. If you are fine with that, then so be it. They had no idea what their foolish task was for. A burned down town brings these criminals no profit either, so I truly believe that they had no knowledge of what the flashbangs would be used for."

"Perhaps I have spent too many years with the Shoanti, but in the tribes of the Plateau it is common to involve the transgressor in deciding his sentance."

Looking towards Idrian, "but alas, in your eyes I am just a mad Shoanti hedge mage, and what I have to voice carries no weight. That is something I can not change."

"If these miscreants meant to assist in the burning of the town, you would be needing to hold me back now from exacting revenge." Jo'no sighs. "I can not be a party of what may happen here today, so I must withdraw. I will return to town with this group, but at its edge I will depart and begin looking more into our issues with the Captain, while you deal with turning them into the Sheriff. I will wait for you outside." Jo'no turns and leaves the cave, sighing and wondering if the years he had spent with his people were for the better or worse.

just a clarification to start. The youngest Creedy is their younger brother, not Jonas' son. Only a minor point but it might help later on

Jonas and his brother watch the interchange with burning resentment. At the mention of Idrian's intentions, both older boys struggle violently with their bonds for a moment, yelling in protest as they threaten to stand and attack from pure anger alone. However, the bared weapons of the folk around them is enough to quickly quell such attempts, and they settle into an angry silence for now.

No matter what the intentions of the others, True has the right of it as far as the law goes. Everyone who knows him understands that Sheriff Hemlock will treat the killing of these men once they've surrendered as nothing less than murder. For better or for worse, the Creedy's would have to be brought before a magistrate for judgement. That would mean returning them to Sandpoint until Belor Hemlock could get them to Magnimar.

Ok, we're going to return with the boys in the boat you hired. Any plans for the gear they have here, in particular their accumulated treasure in the chest? There's also quite a stash of items in the cave itself, anyone going to search through this?

Edit - Jo'No's post appeared while I was getting this one ready, sorry for any disconnect.

Watching in disbelief, Tania tenses as she feels Jo'no's not given a fair weight in this discussion.

"I must side with Jo'no, while his arguments are sound and related to the case at hand, the only thing I heard from the rest is a numb restatement of the laws and duties. When a path is laid and something unpredictable happen, should a person stick with the plan, or adjust it accordingly? It seems poor judgement to blindly apply law when mitigating factors force us to reconsider our course.

These are: We know bringing them back will stir the town and equate to a death sentence. We now believe they were but pawns in this drama.

What we also know is that bringing them back will certainly alert Kaijutsu to our next step!

My judgement tells me to bring sentence to the Creedy's, a harsh but just and proportional one, but to let them leave. This will allow us to get the drop on Kaijutsu on our return. Strict adherence to the letter of the law, in this situation, seems to me like acting in a way that is not for the greater good. So I ask you to reconsider or to provide better arguments than what I've heard so far, and certainly not threats, she looks directly at Idrian, for they serve no purpose among friends.

She then moves to stand beside Jo'no, her heart pounding in her chest, her hands feeling heavy and numb from the strength she needed to summon to stand at odds with her friends.

Male Dwarf Paladin / 4

Sorry for my absence. Unexpected three day weekend led to an extended amount of time away from the computer.

Feldspar listens to the conversation without comment as he watches the reactions of the boys.

Finally he holds up his hand. "This is not the time for disagreement. True is correct; regardless of any individual preference, these boys must be taken back to Sandpoint so that they can answer for their crimes."

He turns to the three boys. "That does not mean certain death. I am a Paladin of Torag. As such it is my responsibility not only to see you three in custody to answer for your crimes but also to see that you are conducted back to Sandpoint safely. I vow that I will see that you are safe from harm and subject only to the penalties of the law. You will not be danger so long as I am present. Once in Sandpoint you will be given the opportunity to present your side of the story. There you will be judged and dealt with accordingly by the law and only the law."

He turned to Jo'No and Tania. "There can be no other decision. If you both are concerned for the safety of these lads, as I am, then stand with us. We can protect these boys from any who wish to do them harm out of vengence or punishment for their surrender. The law will be obeyed, not simply as given by the sheriff and magistrates but as dictated by the Gods."

"Now," he said, looking about the cavern. "We should see to the items here. Perhaps some of this money can be dispersed to the families who have lost their loved ones as a result of these boys poor decisions and actions."

Again Jo'no sighs, as he grips Tania's shoulder in appreciation.

"Although I feel that many of you are blindly putting the law ahead of wisdom, I will not fight you on this any further. Instead, I will give you this last plea. You can not deny that Tania is right, that as soon as we turn the Creedy's into the Sheriff, Kaijutsu will assume that us, and soon the Sheriff will know that Kaijutsu was behind the attack. As far as Kaijutsu believes, the Creedy's are all dead from celebrating on poisoned wine."

"So I ask you this. Upon entering the town, can we please covertly take the Creedy's to a safe place for holding them. Once we have them secured in town, we can then continue our investigation with Kaijutsu and Ameiko. Once we have had the opportunity to talk to them, then you can turn the Creedy's in. I do not just ask this for me, but for the town, as it is in the best interests of the town to find out what Kaijutsu's true intentions are."

Female Human Cleric 2

True weighs the suggestion of Jo'No against his previous desire to see the Creedy's free. Then she looks at Feldspar as she tries to find a way through all this.

"My faith in the strength of law relies on obedience and justice, not fairness, however I can understand that the ignorance of the Creedy's would appeal to some. So I have conditions to what you say, my friend.
First the sheriff must be told what we are doing. This is his jurisdiction, not ours. Second there must be a time limit to obtaining this evidence, the fact that the Creedy's are in town will get out and that is a bad thing. It would damage the law of Sandpoint and honour of the sheriff. So how about we have two days to resolve this or hand him over? That should be enough time to investigate Kaijutsu and Ameiko. Lastly everyone here should promise on their honour to abide by the terms of this agreement."

True face shows little emotion but she looks back to Feldspar to see if he agrees to her bending the law so flagrantly.

Male Dwarf Paladin / 4

Feldspar frowns a little at the suggestion but considers True's conditions carefully before he responds.

"I think those conditions are reasonable so long as the sherrif approves them. Laws are in place for a reason, Jo'No, and though they may be an inconvenience at times it is also most unwise to ignore them. One thing that you may not have considered is that this Kaijutsu may well be innocent of the charges laid against him."

He turns and examines the Creedys again. "I believe these lads speak the truth as they know it. But the same law that condemns them also protects them from others who might wish to take the their revenge. That is why I have vowed for their safety, so long as they comply. That law also protects Kaijutsu and others who might be falsely accused. He has every right to his own defense and to answer the charges as these lads have. It would not be appropriate for us to act against Kaijutsu until we have more proof of his involvement."

apologies for being away for a while. was kinda busy. D:

"I suppose, in a way, you both are right.", Algus says, having kept quiet all this time. perhaps because he's very much an outsider in the region, or perhaps because the matter didn't seem of much importance to him.

"Idrian has justification for his words: this kind of mistake is rather...irredeemable. they should be hanged or worse, simply out of their sheer lack of thought.", he tells the group, with a still soft, yet annoyed tone as he looks at the source of such arguments.

"The Law and common sense are sometimes not compatible in certain things...were it my choice I'd burn them to cinders this very moment, for having hurt a friend and mentor of mine, even if indirectly." Algus grips one of the small vials at this moment; its contents shine with a reddish light, seemingly about to explode. his voice raising to a more harsh, angry tone for a moment."But...they serve a better purpose alive. I believe it'd be far too lenient of a punishment to kill them."

"Idrian, wouldn't you rather go straight for the source? these people were just thugs, muscle to haul explosives. from what I've seen, I wouldn't think Ameiko would know much about all this...she rarely ever spoke of her father. if this noble is the source, then there is a chance he probably already knows of us. I am not expecting a warm welcome on Sandpoint now, and I would truly start to watch my back now; all of you should.", He tells Idrian, his tone returning to a more calm, collected one, and the vial's glow diminishing into nothingness.

"Kaijutsu is an old noble. nobles are arrogant and vain...old ones moreso. most of them at least, heh. I say let him know of us. let him know that his plan is foiled. we have no proof of his involvement, but I'm sure that once he realizes that the Creedys are alive, safe, and have people backing up their story, he'll try to silence them, and us.", Algus finishes speaking and sits down on a nearby chair. the prospect of more fights makes him feel rather eager, smiling beneath the metallic mask.

"They are lying about Lonjiku. It is that simple. They just said that so we'd let them go." Idrian says. "And doing anything other than taking these traitors back to the sheriff is to be complicit in their crimes. I won't do it. If you decide not to bring them, I'm going to inform the sheriff of what happened here and of your decision. I'm said my peace. Make up your minds."

Idrian will take some time to catalog the items in the cave.

Tania softens a little under the wizard's touch. She listens to Feldspar and nods somewhat: "I trust your word Feldspar, even though I'm still reluctant to the course of action proposed. Let us make sure that the Creedy get fair justice, but rest assured that Jo'no and I will get them out of Hemlock's prison if it doesn't to go that way! She looks at Feldspar, then Idrian, and finalyy the eldest Creedy, saying in a solemn and warm tone: "You also have my word..."

Can you all pop over to the ooc thread for a bit of info, cheers. I'll update the ingame thread after I finish dinner and the bed routine for my kids later this evenening

After Tania and Feldspar complete an inventory of the cavern system they return with a mixed list.

The box that the Creedy's stored their cash in had about 80 gold within it, of mixed value silver, copper and gold. Quite a haul for the boys to be sure.

Within the larger cavern, many of the barrels were liquids such as rum and other potent alcohols. The smuggling here was obvioulsy trying to avoid Magnimars tax on liquor that had recently stung the area. Interestingly enough, some of the crates had some statues and other artwork within them. Tania is unsure of their value, but they look like the right person may pay money for them.

The most interesting, and easily most valuable item is the crossbow that Jonas creedy had loaded beside his chair. This was clearly the work of Vindello Magrianno, a weaponsmith of high renown in the area. The brasswork and engraved wood stock show master craftsmanship, and when Feldspar works the action, he finds it smooth and easy to load. The balance and flight rill for the quarrely are perfect. It is most likely Jonas stole this from someone at some stage, since these weapons sold for a few hundred gold each, and he most certainly never had that much moeny in his life.

What they were going to do with all of this stuff was another question.

Technically, the gold is yours to take, and Hemlock would offer it as such since he will view it as ill gotten gains and figure it as payment for services rendered. Also, the law in the area is clear on wanted criminals not being allowed posession of weapons, so if you wanted to take the masterwork crossbow, you are legally within your rights to do so. The othersuff is more dubious in its legality. Some of it is obvioulsy stolen, and the alcohol barrels need to be submitted for proper sale. You'll likely get a reward or comission for such things, but its worth alot more if you choose toe sell it on teh black market. Given the strongly lawful bet of some members of the party, I wouldn't recommend it though hehe

Calmly, Jo'no states, "I do not have concerns about informing the sheriff and I am confident that he would agree with our plan to further the investigation covertly -- especially considering who has been alleged to be involved."

"My ma's place would be a good place to hold the Creedy's, and the cellar is a sturdy and secure place to store them, lockable only from the outside." Jo'no shoots a glance at Tania, remembering a time she locked Jo'no inside of the cellar for almost an hour. To this day he has never again fallen for the old "hey is that a gold coin in the back corner" trick.

"I can abide by that agreement."

Jo'no will examine the good, especially the artwork to see if it is either of any historical signifcance or stolen from any place that he knows of:

"I agree with Jo'No. if that's the course of action we'll take, I'll help out to the best of my abilities. I'm curious as to why such a person would want this disaster to happen, if it is indeed the truth..."

"now then, lets see what kind of goods these guy smuggled...", Algus says with a now relaxed tone as he follows Jo'no in examining the Creedys' contraband. He focuses on the casks and barrels of liquids, in hopes of finding perhaps something rare or useful for his experiments, or something worth selling.

"If the sheriff goes along with it, I will go along with it too. I'll play the role of the voice of reason, choosing to believe in the fine reputation of a nobleman over that of a family of criminals."

Tania Tania remembers seeing that red silk before. It is used in Ameiko's on her menus as decorative frill. The young bard had thought it beautiful, and haadn't seen that shade of red taken so well in silk before. When she asked Ameiko about it, the young Tien woman had smiled and said her father had brought it over with them when they left their homelands many years before

Jo'No Jo'No puts the value of the items at close to a hundred gold, if sold to the right folk. None of it comes from any source he knows of locally, so it must have been shipped in or smuggled from elsewhere. The paintings and artwork are by far the most valuable items, at a little over 60 gold in total for those. The grog would get 40 before tax, as there is quite a large amount of it

AlgusAlgus can't add much more to what's already been discovered, though he can attest to the potency of teh spirits in the barrels. It's likely the Creedy's would have gotten merrily drunk if they had needed to stay here much longer.

All

With a plan finally settled on, the group prepare to leave the cavern complex. As they march the crimnals outside, all three of them groan in dismay at the dead body of their friend as it lay in a pool of blood on the pebbled beach. Jonas spits at the foot of his nearest captor, deep hatred now burning in his eyes. Feldspar can clearly see the evil aura around the man as it flares with his anger. They had made true enemies of the Creedy's at that point.

In the end, they had to put the boys into their own skiff and load that with the gear they were taking. Having done that, they sailed out of the small bay and rounded the bluff to collect their own hired vessel, before sailing back towrds Sandpoint. It would be nightfall by the time they made it back to port, which would only aid them in getting the boys to Jo'No's house undetected.

The port is dark when they arrive, with the pilot lights and lanterns of the docks the only thing enabling them to navigate in for a safe berth. For the moment at least, no one seems to be about on the docks, though the sounds of merryment and music can be heard coming from the Hagfish not too far away.

Ok, any special plans for sneaking them to Jo'No's? You can probably leave any hauled loot in the Creedy's boat for now. It looks like any of a dozen small vessels used in the area, a benefit when smuggling. This means the stuff could stay there for a few days at least before someone started sniffing around most likely.

Female Human Cleric 2

True suggests that the group form an open scouting group with one ahead of the prisoners by some thirty or forty feet to run interference and lookout, maybe Feldspar and herself front and back of the three. Then one ten foot to the left and right and the sixth person twenty feet behind.

"If we meet anyone we head down an alley while the front or side man deals with the person, and we re-arrange but keep going until we get to Jo'No's always with a front man. If someone is left behind then they can hurry up to meet us there. Well?"

"I'll take the point position. It's not so rare for me to be out during the night. I'll give a whistle if I see someone coming."

Tania finally remembers why the gold-filled pouch looked so familiar. "Ah!" she boasts, shaking the pouch in front of Idrian's face. "I knew this was familiar. Ameiko uses the same silk on her menus! She said it was silk brought back by her father! Resonable doubt at least!" She then catches herself, realizing how impolite her gesture was. With a more reasonable voice, she apologizes: "Sorry Idrian, I really don't wan't this dilemma to be a wedge between us. It's just an area where I get itchy more easily..."

Later, she will offer to join Idrian in the scouting group. "I can also conjure illusion to mask us if needed."

Last post until Monday. Enjoy the weekend!

Later, she will offer to join Idrian in the scouting group. "I can also conjure illusion to mask us if needed."

"Then stay with the Creedy's to help hide them if necessary."

"I would rather stay in the back or the side. I only have my Crossbow and my explosives, so I rather it be me and an assailant or two as the only casualties of an explosion, should things get into close quarters."

Jo'no suggests that everyone with a hooded cloak or robe, to put it on a Creedy to hide their faces. Any Creedy that starts to act up along the way gets hit with Daze.

Feldspar nods agreement with True's plan. He walks confidently and without concern for being out in the night, yet he remains ever ready to act should one of the Creedys attempt to cause trouble. He is especially mindful of the middle son, more concerned with him than the others.

Female Human Cleric 2

How about this then, Idrian on point, thirty five foot ahead of True with the hooded Creedy's behind her followed by Feldspar then Algus ten foot further back. Tania and Jo'No go left and right.

True waves for Idrian to lead off once the hoods are firmly over each shadowy face.

If my taking the lead on this sort of thing is sticking it down anyone's throat then let me know and I shall tone it down.

Following True's plan, the large group disembarks at the docks and quickly makes it's way into the town district. Idrian scouting ahead pays off almost immediately as he comes across a small group of men staggering out the Hagfish and blundering across their path. The drunks aren't looking for trouble, and the rnager quickly diverts their path by "helping" them across the road.

This slows him enough that he has to drop back while Tania moves up into the lead to compensate.

The plan seems quite effetive when seen in play.

Feldspar Sense motive, DC12

Spoiler:
Feldspar's natural instinct to not trust the middle Creedy is well founded. The Paladin senses the moment the man decides to make a brak for it, giving him plenty of time to react

A heads up. I have to take a group of kids camping on an island next week, so will be out for a week. I'll post tomorrow but then will be gone. Sorry for the delay this will cause

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Feldspar steps quickly forward, reaching for the middle brother and grabbing tight hold of the bound man's shoulder. "'Ware the boys!" he whispers harshly to the others.

Do you want a check even with him already bound?

"Torag knows the depth of the taint that has darkened your soul," he says quietly, staring into the man's eyes. "Don't think you can hide your intent from me."

The man looks back at Feldspar, struggling futiley at his bonds. He hissed into the dwarfs face, "I'll see you dead for this rock eater. You see if I don't". A crazed anger burns deep in his eyes, even as the Paladin shoved him forwards.

Within five miunutes of departing from the ship, Jo'No is opening the door to his mothers home and allowing eveyone inside.

A tired voice calls from one of the rooms and Jo'No moves off to let his mother know their plans while everyone else gets the boys into the cellar. For now, they are safe.

Ok, we'll call it there for the week as far as my input. Take some time to plan up and maybe develop some character stuff. I'll see you guys in a week.

Once the Creedys are secured. "I'm off to tell the sheriff our plan. I think it would be wise if we kept at least one guard here, just in case. Idrian hurries to speak with the sheriff, waking him if necessary. He tells the entire story of how the Creedy's were found and caught and how the group seeks to prove/disprove their story about Lonjiku Taijitsu.

Female Human Cleric 2

True agrees with Idrian and accompanies him to ensure that the discussion includes details of the Creedy's willingness to surrender and lack of resistance, specifically the boy. She makes certain of the facts - that Sheriff Hemlock knows of the circumstantial ribbon, and their plans for the Creedy's too. She waits to see if he is happy with the plan or has any suggestions to add, such as providing a daily guard.

Once the legalities have been observed, True returns by about nine in the evening to discuss how the next step happens.

Tania will help with the wares found at the Creedy's. She will make even shares for everyone and try to locate a buyer for the collector's items.

Male Human 2nd Level Alchemist

Algus will guard the Creedys, and will also take the time to brew his potions again, if Jo'No's Mother has a suitable place for these things. a couple of new ideas seem to have gathered inside his mind, and Algus will attempt to make them happen.

if possible, brewing up spells of the day: x1 Cure Light Wounds, x1 Expeditious Retreat, and x1 Shield. also brewing up a new Mutagen dose, this time a STR variant.

Male Dwarf Paladin / 4

Feldspar expresses an interest in the crossbow found with the Creedys.

"The craftsmanship of this weapon is a beauty to behold. I am customarily not inclined to profit from a duty such as this but if the crossbow will aid me in seeing that Torag's Will be done, I think it wise to set aside my reluctance. My 'share' of the coin, such as it is, would better serve going to the families of those who have been wronged by the actions of those lads. No amount of coin will relieve the grief of those who have lost their loved ones but it is the very least I can do."

I'm assuming that this is a heavy crossbow.

For the most part Feldspar focuses his attention on guarding the young men, especially the elder two.

Tania looks at the paladin with a look of surprise: "I'm sorry Master Flamebeard, but did I hear you say you wanted the crossbow AND a share of the coins?"

Out for up to 48 hours.
