Hey guys, just a heads up:
When trying to figure out a Taldan name, look at french names. I've recently noticed that many noble houses and knights in Taldor are actually french named - one small example is the Iconic Cavalier, Alain Germande. I looked it up, and Germande is a french surname.
As a result, you can expect that Taldor is a strong mix of Byzantine and French influences. Namely the politics and failing empire are closer to Byzantine sources, while noble houses, titles, and knightly squabbles are closer to medieval France (not Camelot as I've been mentioning.)
In a sense, I'm probably going to be leaning towards the French aspect more-so than the Byzantine one, so feel free to go French sounding. Plus Taldans are snooty like the French. Their extravagance is also like the French nobility right before the French revolution. Galt, being just north of Taldor, is a perfect example of the French revolution, something that threatens to break out in Taldor. Though the whole "Lost half of our empire" bit is definitely Byzantine.
Just a thought for you guys to help flesh out your characters.

It seems like different sources mix between French, Latin, and a bit of Greek, e.g. this campaign setting pdf gives the following examples:
"Male: Domitian, Eudoxius, Galadon, Iacobus, Ioseph, Marcian, Menas, Narses, Olybrius, Origen, Stilicho, Theodric, Vors, Xanthan
Female: Adula, Charito, Eudocia, Euphemi, Ionnia, Kale, Komana, Pasara, Salvianella, Semne, Viviana, Xene"
...
For myself, still trying on a few different options, including [race] gnome, dwarf, and human, and [class] alchemist (bomber), cleric, shaman, inquisitor. Will keep yall posted.

Kage--love it!
My dwarven shaman should be ready to share soonish. I'm liking the way he's shaping up. Mechanically, he'll have a 14 INT and go for at least some knowledge skills for us (as well as being a full caster). Fluff-wise...I'll say more soon.
I know Thon's playing Valeria
Jelani, you have any progress on yours?

Brimleydower |

Hey Crusty, would you consider the optional background skills rules?
I second this. I liked it being there in Jelani's Colonization game, at any rate.

gyrfalcon |

Hey Crusty, is this still happening?
And if it is, now that Occult Adventures is on the PFSRD, are those classes fair game too? I'm thinking in particular about an Occultist.
Oh, and whatabout variant multiclassing from unchained?
(Inquiring minds want to know!)

DM Crustypeanut |

As much as I hate to say it, its probably not happening. I feel like at this point, if I started a campaign, it would fall apart early on - so for now I think its best if I don't start one up. I'd like to get one started, but I think its a bad idea right now.
That being said, I'll still be in touch, and if I end up feeling up for it, I'll let you guys know. At most, I'd probably only be up for playing in a single campaign as a PC, but there doesn't seem to be any good games recruiting.
And for future reference, I will never ever be using the Variant Multiclassing from Unchained. Nope. Nuurp. Nurp nurp.

Thron |

If anyone with Hero Lab gets a chance, could you throw an unchained summoner together for me to get a head start on the build I want? Mainly just want a quick pre-genned sheet that I can alter the details myself.
Image I'm basing the summoner on.. Race is either Aasimar (Angel-blood) or Elf/Half-Elf

gyrfalcon |

I have Hero Labs but don't have the unchained data pack for it yet. Sorry.
Party summary:
Thron - Summoner (archer?) with angelic melee eidolon
Jelani - Psychic
Kage - Skald (melee)
Gyrfalcon - tanky melee Warder*
* 3pp class from Dreamscarred Press, pending approval from Crusty. If he's not comfortable with the toon I build, I'll figure out something else.
BTW, A heavy shield costs 20 GP. So far so good.
Now though, what if I want it to be mwk...(both in regard to ACP and +1 to hit)? Does that cost +150? +300? +450?

Here's a rough draft for my Warder.
Crusty (or others) let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thron |

I keep tinkering with the sheet and builds, and keep getting more and more frustrated with it. REALLY hate the unchained summoner rules. I understand it was designed to balance the class, but I personally feel like it did so at the expense of limiting the player's creativity.
I'll keep messing with it, see if I can come up with something I like. I'm not feeling hopeful about it at this point though.

Gianluca the Honeyed |

Ooo! Oooh! Review me too!!
(Or don't. Whatever. See if I care.)

Stalwart appears to be going Oracle. Drow Oracle of the Apocalypse last I heard. Its a 3rd-party mystery. I don't like 3rd-party stuff, but considering this is Ruins of Pathfinder, it fit. Plus its abilities aren't too strong.
Once he's ready, and once everyone else is ready, we'll start. I don't have an exact ETA on that though.

Stalwart |

Here's the start of my character. Let me know what you think. Sorry about the delay. BTW, the name "Summerisle" is his elven name, since he was raised by the elves in deep undercover. He hangs on to it in a twisted sense of irony.

Hey guys, so as to not leave you in the dark like I've done in the past:
I won't be able to do this campaign after all. Little surprise, I know. I've reached a point in my life where I need to stop playing games so much / wasting time online on here (even though I do enjoy it, so its not that) and focus on getting a job and fixing my life. I may not talk about it much, but its basically in shambles, and video games (these boards included) have been like an alcohol to me, helping me avoid my IRL problems.
So you won't be seeing me much for a while, though I'll try to at least keep in touch. Maybe once everything works out and I can get a job, fix the s$&+ wrong with my life, etc, then I'll come back. I certainly want to, at least.
Anyhoo.. I'll be seeing ya.
