Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Mel Round 1:

Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Okay... first wand of scorching ray.
to hit (touch AC): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 4 = 17 (+2 BAB, +2 Dex, -4 squezzing)
damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 5) = 14

And then try to move through the undead so kalimac will have flanking.
acrobatics 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 ~ is that possible if I only have to tumble for the 5 foot space in which the bad guy is or not at all? grr... squezzing rules ugh (let me know)

Of course... there are probably worse things in the mist...

Alas. Worth it for the mental image alone, I suppose.

"Intelligent?"

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

"Ma mäletan oli aeg, kui 'surnud ja maha maetud' tähendas just seda. All külm tume maa asjad jäid panna!" growls Kalimac.

Halfling:
"I remember there was a time when 'dead and buried' meant just that. Underneath the cold dark ground things stayed put!"

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Round 1:
I see nothing that indicates I can't Challenge the undead, so I will.

"Snorri Stone-Eye, you are dead. I intend to see you rest in peace!" Thus Kalimac Challenges the undead creature.

Swift Action to Challenge the Snorri Stone-Eye draugr. Allies now have a +2 circumstance bonus on melee attack rolls against the draugr whenever Kalimac is threatening the Snorri Stone-Eye draugr.

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Attack/Damage rolls.
Sword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Composite Longbow with Blunt Arrow:

To Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 (20x3)
Ranged Modifier: Point Blank Shot +1 hit/damage w/i 30']
Ranged Modifier: Precise Shot no penalty for shooting into melee

Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

possible critical... to confirm, if undead can be critted with blunt arrows...
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 if successful damage x3, or is it 3d8s? if 3d8s then...
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Lio shoots the undead with a blunt arrow, the grin she flashed at Mel, who predicted the undead, still in place, though now a bit more feral, and directed at the creature.

Male Half-elf Barbarian

Round 1:

Rhost is at 44 HP

In a shocking change of tactics, Rhost does not drop into Rage. He advances slowly, staying between everyone else and the Hatch.

"Let's see," he says. The unpleasant harmonics creep into Rhost's voice (or maybe it's the atypical haughty tone): "Snorri, you smell of hákarl! Hugleysingi! Koma berjast mig!"

The Skald is simple. "Coward! Come fight me!"

Intimidate to Antagonize (hoping Snorri is intelligent and can understand): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

DC is 10 + hit dice + target's Wis modifier

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Kyrademon:
Seeing that Gorman's inebriation is far enough along that he will be as pig-headed as needed in the quest to avenge his dog, Mel nods. Stands, kisses Alaric's cheek, whispering "I'll be back in a minute, please don't let him do anything foolish."

When she comes back from upstairs, she tosses a heavy bag on the table before the drunkard, it clinks. "This is in no way meant to be a weregild price, because none of us killed your dog." A shrug, "However, it as been a long day and tomorrow promises to be longer. The price is acceptable in exchange for sleep."

The bag has 50 gp in it.

Note to Kyrademon: I think the earlier Diplomacy rolls were done for the specific purpose of convincing Gorman that Reta did not kill his dog. This one is an attempt to increase his friendliness level. That way when he sobers up he doesn't come back insisting on another weregild. Cast cultural adaption when upstairs to make the above more Ulfen. Diplomacy 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Male Human Cleric 10

Round 1:

Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 6

"Rot like you're supposed to, dead man," Alaric intones.

Channel: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

He should be just in range. If not, Alaric will advance.

Myriana:
With your Knowledge Religion roll, you would remember that draugr, being rather waterlogged, are resistant to taking damage from fire.

Meanwhile, back in The Past ...

Seeing that Gormun's inebriation is far enough along that he will be as pig-headed as needed in the quest to avenge his dog, Mel nods.

Gormun takes the bag, stands, and feels to seem that it is necessary for him to say something. After a few false starts, he finally decides on, "Well. I hope we all learned something today."

Then he wanders out of the Inn, crashing into the doorframe on his way out only twice.

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

Actions:

Hrunndalf mutters under his breath, "זיי געקענט האָבן דעם דיסאַנסי צו אומברענגען איר איידער זיי מקבר געווען איר". He moves around the right flank as well as he can in the cramped confines, and slashes at the corpse's soggy midriff with a crackling blade, but fails to connect.

Skald: They could have the decency to kill you before they buried you.

Trying to flank, but this only works if Snorri has advanced in the meantime (and someone else has moved in from the other side). Stay at 10' range so as to use reach. I'm assuming Snorri is also squeezed and thus vulnerable; otherwise Hrunndalf won't power attack.

Þrumublað, two-handed, Power Attack, -4 squeezed:
To hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 (crit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23)
Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (4, 1) + 10 = 15 (crit 6d4 + 30 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 2, 1, 1) + 30 = 43)
. . . plus 1d6 ⇒ 2 electric.

Possible AoO:
To hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 (crit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16)
Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 4) + 10 = 16 (crit 6d4 + 30 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 3, 2, 3) + 30 = 47)
. . . plus 1d6 ⇒ 6 electric.

Oh, initiative: The better of 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 and 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20.

COMBAT ROUND ONE

Reta is actually the first to react to the appearance of the undead sailor, but quickly realizing that there is little she can do at the moment, she assumes an attitude of watchful waiting.

Liothonae reacts almost as swiftly, shooting the undead with a blunt arrow, the grin she flashed at Mel, who predicted the undead, still in place, though now a bit more feral, and directed at the creature. Despite the cramped space and the people in the way, her arrow still somehow strikes her opponent with a crack of breaking bone.

Liothonae:
You do indeed roll the damage die multiple times for a critical. This one didn't confirm but for future reference, you did it right.

Melinda fires her wand at the creature, and the ray strikes home, but the fiery ray does less damage against the waterlogged undead than might normally be expected. She then tries to acrobatically tumble past the monster to provide flanking, but her effort is stymied by its swinging axe, and she retreats back to where she was.

Myriana drops her torch and arrow, retreating to between Lio and Shalelu. As she moves she draws a blunt arrow in a fluid motion, makes sure her path to target is clear and lets her arrow fly. But the confines of the space make the shot a difficult one, and the blunted arrow flies into the mist behind the monster.

"Snorri Stone-Eye, you are dead. I intend to see you rest in peace!" Thus Kalimac Challenges the undead creature.

Allies now have a +2 circumstance bonus on melee attack rolls against the draugr whenever Kalimac is threatening the Snorri Stone-Eye draugr.

Kalimac then steps forward and swings his sword. He is small enough to move freely beneath the low ceiling, giving him an advantage against his taller foe, and his sword strikes home.

Buttersnips draws a short sword and looks for an opportunity to move in and attack.

Skald:
"Coward! Come fight me!"

But whether Snorri is a mindless creature or the taunt simply fails to land home, the insult is ignored by the foul-smelling thing.

Zaiobe moves to a spot where she can get off a bowshot, but like Myriana, the confines of the space spoils her aim and the arrow hits only stacked funerary treasures.

Spivey had been looking at the Ulfen Helm with a puzzled expression, as if trying to remember something. When the draugr attacks, however, she turns her attention away from it and holds up her symbol of Desna. A ghostly starknife appears hovering in front of the draugr. It slashes at him, but fails to hit home.

Ameiko begins a soft, familiar tune.

Bardic performance provides you all with +1 to hit and +1 to weapon damage.

Finally, the slow moving draugr swings his greataxe at Kalimac. The axe edge smashes into the halfling’s side.

Kalimac takes 15 hit points damage.

Kalimac’s Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Kalimac suffers no additional ill effects.

Shalelu takes aim and fires. But she steps forward to aim just as Myriana is stepping back to do so, and the two adoptive sisters collide. Shalelu trips and falls prone to the floor.

Myriana’s Dex check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Myriana, however, manages to remain upright.

"Rot like you're supposed to, dead man," Alaric intones. The undead is struck with a wave of energy inimical to its very existence, disrupting the foul forces that keep it animate.

Undead Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Hrunndalf mutters under his breath, "זיי געקענט האָבן דעם דיסאַנסי צו אומברענגען איר איידער זיי מקבר געווען איר".

Terran:
”They could have the decency to kill you before they buried you.”

He moves around the right flank as well as he can in the cramped confines, and slashes at the corpse's soggy midriff with a crackling blade, but fails to connect.

Hrunndalf:
I rolled initiative for you. I did roll twice, but I rolled a 2 and a 4.

I was going around in an arc to set up a flank; i.e., I should be south of Snorri now.

Also, I should check whether I actually succeeded at casting Shield: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27. Apparently so!

Hrunndalf:
The area south of Snorri is completely packed with treasure and impassible. I moved you to the one single spot where you could attack Snorri without actually attempting to tumble through his space to get to the other side.

"It's filled with sea...uh, water-logged." Myri fidgets as Mel's fire is not fully effective.

Over her shoulder to Rhost, "I would think stay back?" Myri looks a little dubious considering the blow Kalimac just took. She glances briefly at Shae, "...Maybe wait a round or two and we'll see how things change."

Avast, ye scurvy dog!:

Argh, sorry, I took those pretty O's for empty space. Maybe we should clear out some more battleground by looting the hell out of them. :)

Since there is no space for wide swings, Hrunndalf reaches past Kalimac with his polearm and delivers a stabbing draw-cut to the pirate formerly known as Snorri. He utters what appears to be a question in Terran.

Skald spoiler: "We should retreat a few steps, make space to flank him."

in the bathhouse
Lio takes the offered soap from Myri, and gets cleaned up, letting go of Shalelu's hand only reluctantly. As she washes, quite easily able to reach her entire back with her dexterous hands and flexible shoulders, she asks, in Elven, "Besides shopping, do you have any plans for doing things in the city?" Her question is directed at Myri. She lathers up her white hair, and rinses her head off with water. Then she looks at the lounging Shalelu, her thoughts making her blush. She offers Shae the soap silently.

"I could be convinced to stay up and talk. Or go to a bathhouse. Honestly, you're asking me if you want me to see you naked and wet? Is that even a question?"

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
Back in bed, Alaric reluctantly throws back the covers, drinking in the slender form of his love. He places a kiss on her ribcage, then pulls away. "Come on. If we don't get up now, we never will. I'm already regretting morning."

Alaric Graff wrote:
"That your goodness borders on the ridiculous at times." He gives her a peck on the cheek. "At least we know the moral caliber of our enemies now. Poisoning a dog? That's just low."

The small pair of shoes that lands on Gormun's head as he exits the Inn must surely be the result of a strange coincidence.

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Round 2:
Wow, we're piled up again.

"If everyone would back up some, we can open some space so we can attack from more sides, and possibly flank Stone-Eye some!" calls Kalimac.

Until such time as there is space for some tactical movement, Kalimac contents himself with slashing at the undead monstrosity again.

Attack/Damage rolls.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Mel goes quite mint, quietly, "I didn't mean it that way." She ducks her head to hide a small smile as she grabs a few supplies. She takes his hand.

I know that the bath houses are in the Ice Quarter, which is close. I asked Ry about co-ed bath houses and he didn't say no. Mel buys two week passes (4sp). The one that she chooses has steam rooms.

Lio & Shalelu:

in the bathhouse

Lio takes the offered soap from Myri, and gets cleaned up, letting go of Shalelu's hand only reluctantly. As she washes, quite easily able to reach her entire back with her dexterous hands and flexible shoulders, she asks, in Elven, "Besides shopping, do you have any plans for doing things in the city?" Her question is directed at Myri. She lathers up her white hair, and rinses her head off with water. Then she looks at the lounging Shalelu, her thoughts making her blush. She offers Shae the soap silently.

Myri's ears are apparently above the water level. She opens her eyes and her head turns toward Liothonae. "Um, nothing I think." She pauses, then turns lightly pink, "Um, no...that's not quite true." She darkens a bit more.. "... ... I think...um, Buttersnips asked me out...um, to a theater play...or races...and dinner or something." Her face goes back to staring fixedly at the ceiling.

Myri can imagine the water around her begin to steam. "I...uh, he is nice. I...don't think I'm his type." Myri sinks under the water level...and stays there. ... ... for quite a while.

COMBAT ROUND TWO

Reta continues to wait for an opportunity to do anything effective.

"Annwyl?" Lio asks. Her concerned question is directed at Shalelu, who lies prone upon the floor. She quickly shoots another blunt arrow at the undead creature, but this one fails to hit.

Elven:
”Beloved?”

Mel shifts the relatively useless fire wand to her off hand and instead pull out an older ally. The wand of grease is as successful as its track record would imply, and Snorri's axe slips from his grip and clatters to the ground.

"Sorry, Shae, my fault." Myri offers a hand to her sister, who simply shoots her a look that somehow clearly reads as That was not your fault at all the person behind is the one who can see ahead and why are you saying it was?

”I’m fine,” Shalelu says to both Myriana and Liothonae.

Myriana then turns and fires another arrow at the Draugr. This one hits its head only slightly off-center and carries off a large piece of the skull with it, although the monster does not fall.

"If everyone would back up some, we can open some space so we can attack from more sides, and possibly flank Stone-Eye some!" calls Kalimac.

Until such time as there is space for some tactical movement, Kalimac contents himself with slashing at the undead monstrosity again. But his sword blow fails to penetrate the monster’s waterlogged skin.

Kalimac:
You should be dealing extra damage equal to your level against the target of your challenge – have you been including that?

Buttersnips, like Reta, still lacks an opportunity to move in and fight.

Absent an enemy to fight or a reason to hunker over and charge into the fray ... Rhost looks at the piled treasure next to him and grabs a likely-looking piece.

Zaiobe’s second arrow come no closer than her first. Her third, however, takes off a piece of Snorri’s ear.

Spivey’s spiritual starknife, however, slices through the undead raider’s stomach, causing a loop of intestine to spill out onto the ground. The undead is practically in pieces now, and looks like it cannot take much more damage without falling.

Ameiko continues singing softly.

Snorri, his axe on the ground, swipes at Kalimac savagely with a long-fingernailed hand. But the Halfling, unlike the draugr, is not hampered by the close conditions, and easily dodges the blow.

Shalelu has risen to her feet, and fires another arrow at Snorri, but the shot misses.

Alaric uses his Bead of Blessing.

Everyone gets a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves versus fear effects. This of course stacks with the competence bonus provided by bardic music and the circumstance bonus provided by Kalimac’s challenge, you synergistic party, you.

Since there is no space for wide swings, Hrunndalf reaches past Kalimac with his polearm and delivers a stabbing draw-cut to the pirate formerly known as Snorri. He utters what appears to be a question in Terran.

Terran:
"We should retreat a few steps, make space to flank him."

But Hrunndalf once again has difficulty hitting the foe in the close confines.

At this point ...

On the deck above you, even above the sounds of combat, you hear the distinctive WHUMP of a large fire starting suddenly, followed quickly thereafter by the crackle of flames.

It is a sound that is somehow curiously familiar.

It is the sound of the situation acquiring the shape of a pear.

GM only:

Snorri -37

Here are the maps of the area below

I will also make a post with a spoilered map of the area above

Anyone who plans to climb out of the hatch this turn can click on that spoilered map to see what is there so you can plan your action after emerging; please only click on that map if you are climbing out

Remember you are at half speed if you are medium or larger until you are on deck. Moving from belowdecks to the deck takes up 5 feet of movement but requires no Climb check.
