"古董購物," Alaric says.

Tian:
Antiquing.

Alaric Graff wrote:
"古董購物," Alaric says.

"Kimo, they got it!" the woman shouts back into the hall. "Just let them know that the entertainers are here!"

She and the other guard move to unbar and unlock the door.

"Really sorry about that," she says, "But you would not believe the trouble I'd've gotten in if I'd just let you in. But I mean, can you imagine if you were a group of raiders or something, and I just opened the door? I shudder to think. I'm Qiao, by the way."

She opens the door.

She opens the door.

Mel smiles as she heads through the door, "Not a problem. I'm Mel, should we head down?"

A narrow passage leads between two doors that lead to the guard posts, with arrow slits in the walls to allow for crossfire should anyone batter down the gates. Another woman takes Qiao’s place at her post, and the man resumes his original station.

”I’ll get you situated. I apologize in advance for the mess, we’re fixing up the place right now. If you’d come here in another month, you’d have found a completely impregnable mountain fortress, brimming with warriors from top to bottom, but right now it’s just a light staff while we get it together. So, less audience for you, sorry about that.”

The passage quickly opens into a longhall with a forty-five foot roof supported by pillars. Torches set into the pillar sconces and two fire pits set with iron spits in the center of the rush-strewn floor give the room a ruddy glow. The hall is lined with feasting tables. Several of the doors open into rooms on either side. Where the ceilings join the wall, hundreds of ravens seem to be roosting, croaking and cawing.

Three black-clad tengus, humanoid birdmen with the heads of ravens, are in the hall going about their business. One gives your party an odd look as you enter the room.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Mel, still all smiles, "I guess we probably won't be entertaining until this evening... do you have a room out of the way where we can practice?"

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

As they are led in, Kalimac quietly mutters to Rhost, "Miks ma tunnen nagu me peaksime olema istub sees hiiglaslik puust hobune kohe?"

Halfling:
"Why do I feel like we should be sitting inside a giant wooden horse right now?"

Melinda Sorn wrote:

"Well ... one of the bunkrooms would be about 150 square feet, is that enough room? Because other than that, there's really only out back in the dell -"

The tengu who has been looking at your group approaches Qiao.

"喬...是不存在......東西約一組,在綠色的女孩?了會議?" she asks.

Tian:
"Qiao ... wasn't there ... something about a group with a green girl in it? That came up in one of the meetings?"

Qiao frowns.

"你知道,我覺得你說得對......" Qiao replies.

Tian:
"You know, I think you're right ..."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

"One of the bunkrooms should be fine..." She trails off as the Tian starts. Looking back and forth between the two, "Is there a problem? Frowning before the bad poetry reading is never a good sign."

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

"Maybe they want us to start the entertainment early?" offers Kalimac.

Of course, I'm pretty sure the audience will not be so appreciative of my style of "entertainment," thinks Kalimac.

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

By now, Hrunndalf understands just enough Tien to be dangerous. He gives a generous smile. "No doubt you do realize every troupe of the beautiful arts from here to Khorvosa includes a 'green girl'. The Verdant Grace a ubiquitous trope in Varisian comedy, symbolizing the reckless energy of nature that refuses to follow the laws and rules of man's designs. You must be confusing with another group. We do know the password after all."

"נאָר טאָן ניט באַלאַגאַן אַרויף דיין קיוז." replies Kalimac.

Terran:
"Just don't mess up your cues."

"Verdant Grace is the cornerstone of our troop's work," nods Kalimac sagely. "We are dedicated to perfecting our art, and are dedicated to its full expression."

"Oh," she says. Shrugs. "Well, the bunk room's this way." She motions you towards one of the doors in the side of the room.

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

While they are moving to their temporary quarters, Kalimac whispers to Attatoq, "Hoia oma nina avatud meie sõbrad. Sul võib olla meie parim valik."

Halfling:
"Keep your nose open for our friends. You may be our best bet."

"There's no problem. Just a Varisian thing, apparently."

The tengu nods.

BTW, did the talking and walking after arriving on top of the stairs take more than 14 rounds? Otherwise my Shield of Faith is still up.

Nope. But Attatoq got close.

7 additional rounds have elapsed since that time. You should have Shield of Faith active for 7 more rounds.

Whoops, there should have been modifiers on that roll ... but not +6 worth of them

Casting Bull's Strength.

"Don't make him angry. You won't like him when he's angry," Alaric intones, patting Rhost on the shoulder. The barbarian's muscles bulge and his skin takes on a greenish cast.

Rhost gets +4 strength

Human Ranger

GM:

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Standard Action: 5' free to block hole between walls to (North).
Draw bow. (I'm assuming since throwing caltrops would be a standard action, Myri would not be able to do this {between the doors} and draw the bow at the same time, correct? If I am wrong, Myri would do so.)

"I believe our friends want to dance. Something of an up-beat jig, I believe." Myri says as she moves into the space blocking the north passage. Unfortunately, she says this far to late to make any difference whatsoever.

Female Elven Urban Druid 9, Brightness Seeker 1

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She stays close in his arms, her own lacing over his, keeping him keeping her there. Mel turns her head, leaving a soft kiss above the pulse where neck meets jaw. Low murmur, "Thank you."

Peace, calm, and happy satisfaction ooze from her as she cuddles into him.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
Alaric is more content than he ever thought possible. Melinda's words penetrate the post-sex haze slowly, filtering into his conscious mind. "Thank me?" he says, genuinely confused, although he more than happily accepts her body closer to his.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She nods, slow and lazy, still caught in her own post-coital glow. "Yes, thank you. For..." she darkens a bloom of green on her face and neck, "umm.. for making me feel special, loved, wanted."

She doesn't say anything for a while, and when she speaks again her tone is still happy, but a chord of seriousness plays through it. "I hope that we can save Ulf and his partner without causing any more bystanders pain. When I was out with Kei this morning... I was watching people. I really hope that I have time to do that again before we leave this city."

"In Sandpoint, everyone knew everyone. I'm sure people had secrets, but most everyone's life was an open book to everyone else. It's... odd... to be in a place and people don't pick you out as unique or unusual. To be anonymous." Quiet, "I guess that sounds silly doesn't it?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
"You are special, loved and wanted," he says simply. "Needed, actually. You've become like food and water to me... something that nourishes like good meat but tastes like the sweetest pastry." Pause. "And now I've made myself hungry."

He listens to the rest. "Silly? It would be stranger if you didn't have a reaction to this place. I'd be happy to watch people with you... I used to play a game when I'd come to a new place. I'd make up stories about the people I saw, because I knew I'd never know the actual stories they carried with them."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Her fingers drum a small pattern on his arm, thoughts whirling, proto-ideas finding fertile ground for later.

A small laugh, "Stories? Did you do that in Sandpoint? Did you create stories for any of us before we all met that day in the Rusty Dragon?"

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
"Did I make up a story about you, you mean," he says with a playful poke into her ribs. "Nope. First set eyes on you in that tavern. Seems like months ago..." He sighs. "I was smitten pretty much instantly."

SURPRISE ROUND

"I trusted you, Fungdark the Magnificent!" Qiao suddenly shouts, hurt and betrayal lacing her words.

The tengu near her vanishes from sight.

"I believe our friends want to dance. Something of an up-beat jig, I believe." Myri says as she moves into the space blocking the north passage and draws her bow. Unfortunately, she says this far to late to make any difference whatsoever.

Qiao also disappears.

"Don't make him angry. You won't like him when he's angry," Alaric intones, patting Rhost on the shoulder. The barbarian's muscles bulge and his skin takes on a greenish cast.

Rhost gets +4 strength

A second tengu goes invisible.

The final tengu watches the proceedings with a very surprised look, the confused expression on his face clear: Why are we attacking the entertainers?

Round 1:

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 or 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

At Qiao's sudden change of heart, Hrunndalf muses, "טעלעפּאַטהס?", casts a spell that makes his muscles bulge, and advances next to Melinda, drawing Þrumublað.

5' step forward, Bull's Strength. I won't try to cast defensively if there should already be a Tengu in my face ==> draw the mace and attack instead.

Terran: Telepaths?

Possible AoO:
Þrumublað, two-handed, Power Attack:
To hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 (crit 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9)
Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 1) + 10 = 13 (crit 6d4 + 30 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 3, 2, 4) + 30 = 49)
. . . plus 1d6 ⇒ 5 electric.

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

Round 1 Addendum:
BTW, I'm assuming that I will be able to reach across the firepit without penalties for cover or so. It's sunken into the ground, right?

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Round 1:
I am really tempted to test out the Scabbard of Vigor. But there's only three of them. Even with invisibility, this is a cramped situation and we're going to have bigger threats later where I'll miss the magic bonus if I've already used it.

"הרוננדאַלף, איר ניטאָ אויף!" calls Kalimac to Hrunndalf. He vaults into Attatoq's saddle and, considering the cramped confines of the battlespace, draws his sword.

"Hapukurgid! Lusikad! Tuli!"

Terran: "Hrunndalf, you're on!"
Halfling: "Pickles! Spoons! Fire!"

Assorted die rolls.
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Gate guards at end of round

Male Half-elf Barbarian

Round 1:

Initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Rhost is at 58 HP

Rhost growls "Leek," and goes into Rage.

Round 1 of Rage

Rhost is at 68 HP

Rhost heads toward the visible tengu. He attacks the first opponent that he comes to, flaming Earth Breaker swinging freely.

To Hit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 6) + 9 = 20 plus 1d6 ⇒ 3 fire

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

"It's not his fault. It's mine. You see we have these friends who are being tortured to death by Runecaster and we want them back. So we had to get in to look for them. I am sorry we had to lie to you."

Round 1 Mel:
Init 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Defensively Cast shield (DC 17) 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

A quick word from Mel puts a shimmering barrier around her.

Female Elven Urban Druid 9, Brightness Seeker 1

Lio Combat 1:
Liothonae steps past Myri and places a blast rune in the five foot opening that they all came through, in case the guards watching the arrow slots hear the noise and come out to investigate.

"Peidiwch â cam yma" She says to Myri as she is done.

Elven: "Do not step here."

if i'm reading the map correctly, i'm near the exit? so there are still guards at the arrow slots, even if I can't see them who might be drawn by the noise of combat. the blast rune in the way will do: 1d6 + 2 if it is triggered. It should last for either 5 rounds, or until it is triggered, whichever happens first.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Blast Rune Damage if triggered: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

edit to add: She can do Blast Rune 6x a day, so she has 5 Blast Runes Left

Human Ranger

Round 1:

Myri fires a shot at a visible foe within 30' (ready action if needed)

to hit:1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 1 = 18 +1 pt.blank incl, Precise Shot, Seeking, FE:human(+4) not included

dam: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5 +1 bow incl, +1 pt.blank incl, FE:human(+4) not included
