After lots of talking around town, Vinny ends up at the inn and pays for the group to stay, tossing the keeper two gold and being done with it.
"If you have any specials, I'd be interested in that...been a while since I have had good food outside of the big city. They don't know how to do it like we do out of the way..."

"Sounds perfect! I'd love some...and if you could tell me anything you might know about the gambling boat sinking, I'd love to hear it...I'm sure it helped your business, yes?" Vinny's upbringing definitely helping in this situation.

"Any idea about what caused the fire?" he asks as he takes a dive into the stew, clearly very excited at the more rustic meal.

            Under water?
Sure underwater. Don't you have spells that can allow us to breath underwater? Mixed with a Fly spell it's like you become a shark, zipping through the water. You should try it sometime.

Darin will breath a sigh of relief.
I don't even what to know what can go wrong with being underwater that long, magic or no magic. I can see it now - seawater not leaving my lungs, gills developing so I have to wear a glass fishbowl for eternity. Not me, no sir, no how.
Fort it is. Nice, grounded fort with air to breathe.

Something coming from behind us towards the woods, sounds like a wounded cat! Someone keep an eye on the river!
Darin will pull out his morningstar and shield, newly shiny from the enchanter, and get ready for either battle or a wounded animal to emerge.

"It probably has its eyes set on that cardinal." Unalaq tries to detect evil from the direction of the yowling. If he doesn't sense anything, he suggests getting back on track.

"The cardinal. You know. Red bird. Beautiful crest. Its right there. Probably the big cat or whatever is making all of that noise plans to eat it once we're gone. I don't think the creature is evil though. Should we just continue toward the fort?"

            Uh, I suppose so....
Darin will look like Unalaq is talking crazy-talk, because giant cats usually don't try and stalk tiny birds in particular. He'll maybe edge away a little bit too.
So, lead on I suppose?

Unalaq is ready to ignore it and move on thinking that there is no need to pick fights with wild animals. Not in favor of moving toward it.

"But...we are just going to leave something behind us that might attack?" a not complete disregard for his well-being...something the group has never heard from the rogue...since most of their interaction while dealing with threats has been when he was drained of his common sense...

"If we go off hunting every wild animal that yowls or howls out here, we'll never find out what is going on at the fort. I didn't detect any evil and it isn't attacking us. It may just be warning us away from its territory."
