EDIT: GM, for SOP's, how do you feel about take 10's and take 20's? I'd like to take 20 when I search for traps if allowed, however I understand that there is the potential to make a good deal of traps and the like moot than if I rolled. This would be for doors and other transition points where Flo does not believe that she is under pressure/in danger.

I'm fine with taking 10 and 20 for perception if that's what you want. Taking 20 will require 2 minutes to examine a 5'x5' area.

I'm not going to allow Aid for perception checks. My logic is that the way the other person helps is by also looking, which ought to mean that if they succeed they have spotted what you are looking for. It seems weird that you might "help" someone find something without finding it yourself.

Guidance can assist attempts to take 10 but not to take 20 (the duration is too short).

Colvyn, I was looking on your sheet. You have a +4 "misc" bonus to Perception which took me a little while to figure out. But it should say "+2 race" and then separately (either in something later on or on a separate line) you should mention that you have an extra +3 (+1 from trapfinding and +2 trait) to find traps. On your stat line you could put:

Perc +9 (Traps +12)

I did an update on my equipment and carrying capacity but did not update the actual line with the AC. That was my fault. What changed was the chain shirt that I got. I had it and RPd it out that I had it but never did I change the AC. sorry for my mistake.

I would normally assume you are taking everything unless you say you want to leave things behind.

Guys:

How do you guys feel about using a version of Automatic Bonus Progression? I have in mind a variant that would give you a bit more control over where the bonuses would end up.

Essentially you could spend money on things that affect your lifestyle of reputation rather than gear that is useful in combat. Things such as:
* Buying a house
* Donating money to an orphanage
* Throwing a big party
* Having a painting made of yourself
* Buying a gift for an NPC

Basically money that you spend on this kind of thing would be tracked and would allow you to buy things that can normally be had through Automatic Bonus Progression.

The cost for these things would be based on the cost to buy the equivalent magic item. Since a ring of protection in this game would normally cost 400 gp, spending 400 gp on a nice carriage would give you enough "Prestige" to buy yourself a permanent +1 deflection bonus.

It also gives players an incentive to spend money on stuff that real people would be spending money on. This stuff would not really have a use in the adventuring sense.

What do you guys think?

I'll write up a google doc with the full rules if we want to use this.

It sounds downtime-intensive, should we expect to get much use out of a hypothetical fancy carriage? I'd say no to ABP for this campaign, but I'll go with the group consensus.

I have seen where GMs use it in place of magical items as it is meant for. I tend to like the flavor of finding all sorts of cool things magical or other wise to flesh out the characters I play. I like magic stuff..lol

I'm intrigued for sure. But that is because Laurana would like to buy Old Light and turn it into a mage tower, so it would fit in with her plans.

I'm of two minds about this. I don't like the idea of running around to find the cash to get another +1 on a weapon. But I also like getting those weird magical items.

BTW guys:

When we started out I said we were going to use an inverted saving throw system, where the generator of an effect gets to roll the saving throw for the effect. This required You to change your save listings to create a target number for enemy effects.

I am going to abandon that. Partly because I often don't remember to use the inverted saves, and also partly because some of you still have not gotten around to adjusting your saving throw listings.

So from now on I will just roll saves for everything.

Also: the idea of my modified automatic bonus progression got kind of lukewarm reception, so I'm not going to bother with it.

One other house rule that I had intended to use and will put into effect:

Dazzling with Teeth:
Being Dazzled is a lesser version of being blinded. But RAW all it does is impart a -1 to the enemy's to-hit chance. I am changing that so a dazzled creature has a 20% miss chance to hit enemies. This makes it a bit more worth it to try to dazzle enemies and also makes it resemble blindness (since a blind creature has a 50% miss chance).

Things that mitigate blindness (like the blind-fight feat or other senses) will also mitigate being dazzled.

I am playing a character in another game that has flare as a spell-like ability once per day. It is annoying just how useless that spell is.

I'm still not sure it is worth a standard action in combat, but at least I can envision times when I would consider it.

RIGHT?! Especially with the aid another mechanic, the situations where using a standard for a -1 are a good call are pretty scarce.

Did you drop out of rage to drink the potion? That would mean you are fatigued for twice as long as you were raging.
