I think the check comes in if it is not on your spell list and/or you do not have the proper ability score. So as long as the spell is on her list and she has the ability score then she should be able to cast with no problems. I have been playing so long that the rules kind of blend together from one edition to the next. LOL So I could be wrong on one or all of my thoughts.

IMO, at this level, a potion of See Invisibility or scroll of See Invisibility/Glitterdust ...

Worth mentioning here that there is no such thing as a potion of see invisibility. Spells with a range of personal cannot be made into potions.

Using a scroll of see invisibility would require a use magic device check with a DC of 23, or 27 if your INT is less than 12. Rig and Laurana would simply have to make a caster level check. The same applies to glitterdust.

Worth mentioning that faerie fire is level 1 and also pinpoints invisible creatures.

I would be willing to allow custom potions that work like splash weapons, as long as the AoE is a sphere. They would need to be commissioned though.

Added Prestidigitation to the 0 level spells and at 1st: color spray and enlarge person. Added Grease and Mount to the spellbook.

We would need UMD to use faerie fire though :/ I'd be willing to split the cost of a glitterdust scroll for Laurana or Rig if we went down that route. Knowing we are going to fight a creature with invisibility and not knowing when we will be 3rd level (and therefore having our first real chance at being able to deal with it), I'd rather have the scroll than let it wipe the floor with us.

GM would you provide an example of how your splash weapon potion would work in play?

What rule are you referring to?

Scribing new spells will be affected by the economics rules and putting them into a spellbook will only cost 20% of the normal price. You still need to get a teacher though (or a scroll or someone's spellbook).

FYI the cost of expensive material components will also be affected by the 20% rule.

Floredana Mandulescu wrote:

It would, though the DC would be lower because it is a 1st level spell.

Floredana Mandulescu wrote:

To hit a grid intersection with a thrown splash weapon requires a roll against AC 5 (cover penalties may still apply). Failure means that you roll for scatter as per normal splash weapon rules. Wherever the item lands, the AoE goes off from there.

Only spells with a spherical AoE could be weaponized this way. Spells with a cone or line AoE could be made into such an item but the point of origin would be a corner of your square.

FYI the price beads on a necklace of fireballs work under this exact principle.

Kargas Stormscar wrote:

A Bag of Powder is an actual thing from Ultimate Equpment and is intended for just that. They cost 1 cp and weigh 0.5 lbs., so the main limitation is weight. I'm sure the local mill would be happy to provide you with some.

I will be rolling for availability for things, much like rolling for low-level magic items, though the more common items are always available.

He will always have:
Daggers
Light Maces
Clubs
Spears
Short Spears
Morning Stars
Javelins
Crossbows
Throwing Axes
Hand Axes
Short Swords
Long Swords
Rapiers
Greatswords
Halberds
Lances
Short Bows
Arrows
Bolts
Sling Bullets

Weapons from the CRB that are lot on this list are still likely available.

165.25 + presumably however much you had left from your starting gold.

Revival of the Runelords Slideshow

Guys there are a few things here that I need to look into so I want to clarify things.

The small MW chain shirt found in the glassworks is being worn by Cade, though it is listed as Sold. And there are a few treasure items that are missing.

After selling off items, are you dividing all cash 6 ways? Or will you mitigate things based on items claimed?

If someone takes an item from the treasure pile that replaces an item they have, does the old item go to the treasure pile? Or does the selling character keep the cash for it? For example, Cade is trading up for a masterwork chain shirt and won't need his old one any more.

Revival of the Runelords Slideshow

I redid the loot sheet.

It now has a drop-down menu for who gets the item; later on I will try to set something up so that it calculates the value of stuff held by individual members.

It adds up the value of sold stuff so the total share per member (assuming an even six-way split, and that Cade's old chain shirt is thrown onto the pile) is 187.4 gp.

Revival of the Runelords Slideshow

Laurana:

If you are able, do you want to try to use identify on any of the unidentified items?

Sweet, thanks GM! When I went through selling stuff it must not have been marked.

After selling off items, are you dividing all cash 6 ways?

or

Will you mitigate things based on items claimed? I believe this is the method we agreed on. IIRC, if someone doesn't have all the gold for the item they want, we agreed they could just owe the party. We could give them a half share of gold until the difference is made up, for example. A method only works if we all still want to do it though, if people have changed their minds (and/or if I have misremembered), then we should address this again!

If someone takes an item from the treasure pile that replaces an item they have, does the old item go to the treasure pile? Or does the selling character keep the cash for it? I think it should be returned to the pile. The gold gained from selling it could go towards the new item or the total gold split, depending on if you bought it from the pile or with your own cash.

Items are treasure, I think reducing the cash-share based on the value of items claimed is reasonable.

I find it easier to track items by sell value, since if someone takes an item from the treasure pile that is what the party "loses" in potential money.

According to potential sell value (i.e. if everything you found was sold) there is a total of 1692 gp worth of stuff, including gold. That works out to a total share of 282 gp each.

Right now, Kargas has the single most valuable item (the ring of protection +1) and if we go this way he will need to give out an "IOU" to someone to afford his new falchion.

There is also the question of whether you want to count consumable items against individual totals, since they will eventually get used.

Undine Varisian Pilgrim 9 | HP: 75/75 | AC: 20 T: 14 FF: 16 CMD: 20| F: +9 R: +7 W: +12 +2vsChrms/Cmplsns| Init +8 | Perception +22, Sense Motive +16; Darkvision 60ft | Move [40] 50 | Active Effects: Extended Fly, Blessing of Fervor

I feel like if we counted consumables towards individual totals, items we need wouldn't get used. It would also make for strange situations where Kargas (for example) has to pay for his healing.

What do you all think about a general rule of keeping consumables and using them freely? If we really don't think we will use it, let's sell it, but I think the default should be we are keeping them.

For Kargas, could we give him the ring and a normal split of the loot now (resulting in an IOU to the party), then next time we cut the IOU out of the share he would receive? Again, only if everyone is fine with this. I also have the only item I want right now, I am willing to support the Falchion Slush Fund with what remains of my share.

If I took the Chain shirt which is priced at 100gp +150gp for the Masterwork that would leave me with a 32GP share correct? 282-250=32.
Now this next part is going to sound a bit...odd and I DO NOT want to offend anyone...so please just keep that in mind.
We have had this talk about treasure and how to divide it up before. I am all for what ever the group majority agrees with..this is a game and I would like to not get bogged down in a month long discussion about the topic itself. Not that we have yet...just want to avoid that trap if we can.

I am fine with an IOU and sitting out the next treasure haul or two, since the ring is pretty pricy at levels 1-2. I would like to keep the falchion, but I'll pass on the morningstar and daggers. I bet I can pick something up from a dead foe.

I usually don't count consumables this way. The catch is that people need to remember they have them!

I can adjust the sheet and remove the value of consumable items. That will reduce the overall share size (but not by that much). Give me a little while.

Cade Goodbarrel wrote:

Remember two things:

1. The price for a masterwork chain shirt has been reduced under these rules and is only 200 gp, and

2. The list is organized by sell price, so the chain shirt represents 100 gp of loot.

This means that Kargas' ring is worth 200 in sale, so he has 82 gp left over. But the falchion costs 150 gp.

OKAY, it sounds like these are the purchases so far:

150 gp Masterwork Falchion
045 gp Masterwork Scimitar
100 gp 50 cold iron arrows (masterwork)
150 gp Wand of Bless
004 gp Spell Instruction from Academy
004 gp Inscribing two spells into Laurana's book
---
453 gp total

Anything else? Aside from the arrows, nobody has cold iron weapons.

Cade: You could commission someone to cast masterwork transofrmation on your rapier. This would have to be done tomorrow morning (since they need to prepare the spell) and would cost 52 gp. The clerics at the cathedral are a better bet since they don't need to have the spell in a spellbook.

Are you selling off the original falchion?

Guys:

It might be easier for me to configure the sheet so that it tracks individual items per character and then leaves the rest of the gold in an individual pile. Then you will be able to see how much stuff everyone has and can just choose to spend off the pile according to who is behind. How does that sound?

Yes, I'm definitely selling off the original falchion.

I like that Idea GM Peet. I also like the idea of getting the rapier up to Master Work quality.
So I have claimed the Master Work Chain Shirt (Small)
I will get the spell cast on my rapier as well.
That should leave me with 30gp to give towards Kargas's Weapons.
Since we are planning on raiding down the tunnel, I adjust my equipment and items that I am carrying.

I've created the formulas for the LOOT PAGE. I am plugging in purchases now.

A few more questions:

Rig Veda wrote:

RIG: Okay thanks.

* You had non-masterwork versions of these before, right?
* It looks like you are trying to keep ACP down, but FYI there are two normal chain shirts if you wanted one of those instead.
* FYI The MW heavy wood shield costs 32 (7+25).
* I think I mentioned this before, but with a heavy shield in one hand and a scimitar in the other, you are no longer able to cast spells with somatic components because your hands are full. If that's a problem you could get a MW buckler instead (and you could use archery while wielding it too).

COLVYN:
* You are wearing Studded Leather armor. If Cade is getting rid of his chain shirt you could take that and ditch your studded leather instead.

UPDATE: the purchases so far:

150 gp Masterwork Falchion
045 gp Masterwork Scimitar
100 gp 50 cold iron arrows (masterwork)
150 gp Wand of Bless
004 gp Spell Instruction from Academy
004 gp Inscribing two spells into Laurana's book
032 gp MW heavy wood shield
050 gp MW studded Leather
052 gp MW transformation spell
---
587 gp total

Anything else? Aside from the arrows, nobody has cold iron weapons.

LOOT PAGE UPDATED

A few things:

1. Please don't mess with the cells with formulas in them. If something gets broken it can be tricky to figure out where the error is.

2. There's still a few alchemical items found in the goblin raid that I have to add to the sheet. But I added:
* Combat gear that you started with (so that when you sell it the wealth can appear)
* Items gifted by Sir Aldern
* Cade's Riding Dog (given via a trait)

3. You still have 643 gp left in the party fund. How you spend that is up to you but I have not currently divided it up (because then I would have to track six variables instead of one).

4. Everything is organized by sell value. So the wealth your character is shown to have is how much you would get if you sold everything you have right now. The weird part is that if you spend another 640 gp your character wealth will only go up by 320 gp because that is what you could sell your gear for. If you'd prefer me to organize it by full price I can reconfigure it.
* When you earn cash it has a sell multiplier of 1 instead of 0.5.
* Goblin-make items have a sell value of 0.25 - unless they are masterwork.

5. Consumable items are not being tracked in the wealth of a specific person (because it will go away eventually). So they are included in "Shared & Consumables" instead. Floredana's shiny new wand falls into this category. This is easily switchable.
* Actually arrows are easy enough to fix with a mending spell so they need not be considered consumable (though magical arrows will be).

6. Cade's wealth is a little higher because he has the riding dog via a trait (I'd ignore it except he could sell the dog if he wanted to), and he picked the MW chain shirt out of the loot. And Kargas has the Ring of Protection, while Colvyn has the MW Longbow. These are all "big ticket" items (for now).

I would be perfectly fine with keeping all money in the party pot. I really dont like splitting it up. For PBP, one pot seems easier than multiple and keeping track of who owes who.

If we are just sitting on 643gp, do we want to spring for that CLW wand? If nobody has outright said it, we should grab like 5 bags of powder too.

@GM, yeah, I am trying to cut down on the ACP. If there's a chain shirt and a mw buckler, that'd be fine instead. That'd put me a -2 and allow me the freedom of my hand, so that's a good deal.
And I can sell back the hide shirt and hvy shield I already have, and the regular scimitar if nobody else wants it

And yeah, extra wand of CLW is always good

I am sorry for any confusion this might have caused but I do not have a chain shirt. I owned the studded leather armor and I am willing to give that back to the party to sell. I just claimed the Small Master Work Chain Shirt for myself from the glass place.

Revival of the Runelords Slideshow

Okay, there seems to be agreement to pick up another CLW wand. Which means that Floredana can hold one and Rig or Colvyn can hold the other.

So:

NEW UPDATE: the purchases so far:
