Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Single attack is fine, I'll run it after dinner. Also, celestial leopards should be at a +8 to hit, not +7, because of charge. +6 base.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Two leopards pounce on her savagely biting and clawing her, the other leopards move around her, and she lashes out at one of them with her claw, one last time.

Aoo: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
dmg: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Leopard fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

The remaining two leopards surround her, then finish her off, with the last one biting off her head.

There's no need for grab...

Silyzil lets out a pained wail as she sees Grishelmuk die in front of her. "Noooooooo! Siz mənim bacısı siz etmek öldürdü!"

Auran:

Noooooooo! You killed my sister you b*tch!

Greta walks forward and tries to slash at the glowing blue skull, which only hits air.

magic glaive, flank: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

Mr Whiskers and Crummock up. Mr Whiskers, you're not blinded.

Male Bleachling (Gnome) Oracle (Spirit Guide) 18 (HP 219+5/219+5) (AC 49/27/38) (CMD 24) (Fort +17, Ref +25, Will +17) (Init +2) (Perception+32)

No longer blind, Geist snarls, and tries to rip into the giant.

Bite: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 17, for 1d8 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 = 16 damage.

Grab: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 20.

That is some terrible rolling!

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Only problem - Giant is invis - 50% miss chance. Geist knows there's a giant, cos scent.

First bite, concealment, 1 is good: 1d2 ⇒ 1
2nd bite, concealment, 1 is good: 1d2 ⇒ 1
first claw, concealment, 1 is good: 1d2 ⇒ 2
2nd claw, concealment, 1 is good: 1d2 ⇒ 2

The first bite hits, but Geist does not manage to grab the giant.

Yeah my sympathy for those rolls. Have you made any sacrifices to the dice gods recently?

Mr. Whiskers scurries forward and readies a spell.
Stealth, heroism, vanish, movement: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 20 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 + 20 - 5 = 32

Readied action if either Giant or Silyzil come into sight:

Giant: Cast Scorching Ray.
Sizyzil: Cast Magic Missile, spend AR point for +1 CL

"Lladd y ferch!" Silyzil orders the glowing blue skull.

The second ray scorches the giant and it howls in pain.

I didn't roll the leopard AOO even though Silyzil provoked as they can't do anything to her. Really.

Party up

Edit: nope 26 - 2 rage - 2 large = 22 normally - 2 dex (lost 1 already for being large) - 2 blind = 18 AC

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

The first maw attack and the last claw attack hit the giant. The fire seems especially effective. The giant looks wounded.

90 -7 -66. Rage gives you +16 hp? If I flubified my maths please let me know?

crud I totaled the attacks not the damage, so yeah, 90-7-66+2(infernal healing)+16 = 19/35 HP, hhhhmmmmmm, no ability to stay raging below zero. Well it's finally getting interesting.

Hirah steps around to the giants side (probably an AoO) and attempts to trigger Amplified Rage, staying adjacent to Einar and attacking (I think its just a standard).

Geist manages to bite and claw the giant once, but does not manage to grapple the giant. The giant looks badly wounded now.

The giant trips Hirah as she approaches.

You can trip airwalking people?

Mr Whiskers, you're up

I'm 5 hours away from updating my leopard actions. I assume that this giant has improved trip and therefore isn't provoking a ton of AOO's from Hirah and leopards?

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Trip when you were going from 10 ft to 5 ft. Since you don't have the reach for it, no AOOs, otherwise, yes provokes.

Paired opportunist-Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you receive a +4 circumstance bonus on attacks of opportunity against creatures that you both threaten. You would need to be adjacent to your leopards. From positioning, no adjacent leopards.

Not to mention there is a possibility the leopards never got there.

If it bothers you that much, I could always change it to a standard attack but it might have nasty, nasty consequences.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Crummock, did you factor in Geist being sickened? Think you did for attack rolls but not damage - I'll factor it in myself.

Mr. Whiskers moves over behind Einar and Hirah so he can see Silyzil. He readies to cast Magic Missile when she uses one of her magical abilities.

As I understand it, you can force concentration checks on SLAs. Trying to do that here.

Magic Missile: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 2, 3) + 5 = 16

Could you give us some idea how badly injured some of these things are?

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Both Giant and Silyzil are badly wounded - 1/4 of original hp. Yes, you can force concentration checks on SLAs. I saved a tricked out archery ranger from turning on the party by interrupting a charm person SLA once, with magic missiles.

Yep, in hindsight it was silly thinking Hirah would get an AOO - no reach. That was dumb of me, my bad. Also, I need to check Hirah's current positioning, did she successfully move, then get tripped? If so, does she have a standard left? IE Move ---> provokes --> tripped ---> prone ---> stand up (move equivalent action I can take as a standard)? If thats so, I should/probably be able to stand next to Einar (on the side of Geist) and within easy reach of a 5 foot step the following turn. I still don't get my earlier pre-rolled attack attack, and its a simple matter for electro-skill to zap me still, so I still take that damage but I do get to be a bit closer, and I don't end up prone (unless it has combat reflexes I guess in which case ok I'll take the penalty of another AoO and live and learn).

I am assuming that at least two of the Leopards can charge, straight line, full attack, no Smite. The third Leopard can MAYBE go around and flank with Geist. All the Leopards have Paired Opportunists active. I_may_need you to correct the positioning of my leopards. They are medium sized, and the map indicates 1 square = 10 feet, so they can probably all be side by side in the corridor, three abreast, but the actual map sizing doesn't support this, and to be honest, I really don't think they even should be able to be 3 across even if circumstances allowed it. It has relevance though for the third leopard, because if the squares / spaces are large enough one can theoretically flank with Geist but I need you to make a call on that since I think its more of a case of some squares being 5 feet and others being 10.

Also, the Leopards (for what its worth), had +9 rather than +8 on that charge roll. You are correct that its a +6 base and then +2 for Charge, but I'm not sure if you factored in Augument Summoning, which gives summoned creatures +4 Strength and +4 Con. Or maybe you did factor in Augument Summoning, and there is a floating -1 debuff somewhere, but I don't see anything to that effect.

Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16Damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16Damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21Damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28Damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

I'm not including flank (although they probably get it), not including a possible AoO they get if Giant drops the trip and provokes from them (GM call), and not including the third leopard until I know if it can stand somewhere and do a standard action bite.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Yes, Silyzil has combat reflexes

The leopards are roasted by Silyzil's touch, never getting anywhere near the giant. Hirah surprsingly, does not provoke when she stands up where the giant tripped her.

You may stand up as a standard converted to move, I will take it as done.

A long and winding stone staircase finally descends into a cavern whose walls support rough wooden shelves piled high with all manner of weird bric-a-brac: tiny sculptures, fetishes, amulets of metal and clay, locks of hair, pin-riddled cornhusk dolls, crates, and more than a few weathered tomes. Yellowed glass jars hold vile and suspect-looking samples suspended in unknown fluids, and small clay pots overflow with unknown dusts, powders, and sickly colored unguents. Beneath the shelves, a couple of crude worktables, covered in mysterious stains and clumps of aged tallow, hold more items of similar nature. A huge wooden mortar bound with iron bands stands near the tables, its club-sized pestle propped within. In the south side of the room, a ring of small stones surrounds a small fire that fills the entire room with the scent of pine. There is a stack of firewood(from pine) next to the fire, that looks like several logs have been grabbed from it hastily.

Prying open the crates reveal assorted items, a compass, string, a heatstone, animal glue and lots of hemp rope, 1 dose of universal solvent, 10 tindertwigs, as well as 2 weeks of worth of dried rations, 5 sacks, and some bedrolls and blankets.

Mr Whiskers realizes that the pestle is magical - +1 great club and Hirah spots a dusty old broom and brings it to Mr Whiskers, who identfies it as a broom of flying

The tome of books look neatly arranged except for one book space that seems to be missing a book.

Crummock gives a sigh of bitter frustration when his blindness wears off, and he espies Einar's corpse.

"Damn it!"

He then kicks the giant's corpse several times, venting his annoyance, before turning back to the others:

"Shall we check-out the area where the unseelie went to get reinforcements?"

EDIT: Ninja'ed by the GM!

Crummock carefully sews-up the main wound on Einar's body, then washes it with Create Water, before gently stowing him in the Bag of Holding.

"Right then. Let's see what is down that other corridor..."

He then moves to check-out the corridor to the east.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

You really want more encounters?

Crummock sees the passage widen up and sees the edge of a strange forest of dark and leafless trees fills this expansive natural cavern, twisting upward toward the ceiling high overhead.

The cavern is 50 ft high, anything up to 20 ft is full of petrified trees and thus difficult terrain.

Do you wish to go deeper?

Male Bleachling (Gnome) Oracle (Spirit Guide) 18 (HP 219+5/219+5) (AC 49/27/38) (CMD 24) (Fort +17, Ref +25, Will +17) (Init +2) (Perception+32)

Well, since we have no way to Raise or Reincarnate Einar, I don't really see any other option... The best we can hope for, is to keep exploring, and hopefully find something to bring him back (admittedly, in a witch-themed dungeon, the best we can probably hope for is a Scroll of Reincarnate, which has its own problems...)

I suggest strongly you take a trip to Vurnin. I don't want to run encounters meant for a full party on 3 members in the party, and I suspect that Mr Whiskers would get pissed off too.

"Einar's dead and you're haring off to explore the rest of the dungeon? Are you crazy?"Greta glares at Crummock. "What if there's worse things out there?"

"Shouldn't we see if Gurra-Gurra can help? Or try to find some settlement to get him raised? That is, if he wishes to come back."

Aren't we like a week away from that place, which means a two week round trip? I suspect whatever is happening here will be long over by then...

You'll have whatever time it takes. I'll give you that. I'm not totally without mercy. Or maybe you could....ask for a little favour from someone, since you did her a little favour...

Edit: If you want to continue to explore - make sure either Hirah/Mr Whiskers agrees with you. Since it'll go by majority vote, so if two agree, we can continue with dungeon exploration. I don't want to run the encounter then get both Hirah and Mr Whiskers complaining - who the heck thought it was a good idea to do this while we were asleep.

Mr. Whiskers agrees with Greta. "I am low on spells, Einar is dead. I wasn't eager for this fight, no more today!"

Decide what you want to do as a party then

"If you want to continue exploring, please pass the body to Greta and I."

Mr. Whiskers intends to get back to Gurra-Gurra. Once there, he can treat the body with the unguent of timelessness until they can figure out a way to get Einar restored to life.

The party returns to Gurra-Gurra's camp fire. Gurra-Gurra counts the number of people, then asks Mr Whiskers, "You're back early. Where's Einar? He enjoyed our cooking, so we thought try iut our latest steak recipie and see if he liked it." The left head puts forward diffidently.

"Yeah at least cooking is better then listening to Jadreka complain about Maris. Honestly I swear that you'd be better avoiding off avoiding Maris, unless you want to try to sort both of them out." The right head grumbles. "Which you know, when lovers don't get along, it's a mess."

This is before you take out Einar's body, I'll get to after when I wake up tomorrow morning. Feel free to yatter as much as you like.

Crummock grimaces.

"As much as I am sure Einar would like to try it, I am afraid that he can't - although we were able to put down the hag (and the former hag), Einar perished in the process; unless ye know o' a way to bring him back, we will need to high-tail it to the nearest town, to find someone who can."

Taking out the jar and looking at it, Mr. Whiskers says "If we have enough in here, maybe we could save a portion of the meal for him? I'm sure he'll be hungry if we manage to get him raised."

"He's dead? I liked him...he praised our cooking. You shouldn't have gone out again after he was so badly burnt the last time..." The left head looks at the party reproachfully.

"Well...you know the problem with raise dead is the diamond required? You won't find any diamonds of that size in here. The nearest settlement is Vurnin. It will take a week on foot, or...well, Jadrenka and I go there by teleport for our weekly groceries. Prokhel Lavrenty is the head of the temple of Abadar there, and she probably could help you, at the right price."
The right head answers.

"Honestly Illarion's a much nicer person, we've agreed after my apprenticeship here, that he'd help me settle in as a herbalist in Vurnin. But I've never seen him bring anyone back to life, or at least not in same body." The left head states.

"We could bring you to Jadrenka and you could ask her for the lift...afterall you helped her deal with the Coven." The right head replies.

"See, I told you that Caigeal and her frost giants lead by Vsevolod was bad news. We'd probably be dead if we tried to stop them." The left head glares at the right head.

"We haven't done the steak yet...not sure if we're in the mood for it now..." The left head says sadly.

Mr. Whiskers points out "Einar never let anything get in the way of a meal. I don't think he would want his absence to either! He seems the sort that would prefer a party!"

He tries his best to be cheerful and upbeat as he says this.

Einar only:

You find yourself walking on a paved cobblestone path, with no idea how you got there. Surrounding you, except for the path ahead, is nothing but grey fog. You instinctively know that it is not a good idea to venture off the path.

You're unarmed, and unarmoured at this point of time. Not that you'll need it here.

Ahead of you, you see a signpost, that points to the path straight ahead. It reads, "Pharasma's court - 80 miles". On the signpost is perches a strange songbird stares with a glint of intellect in its empty eyes that has a stylish plaster mask over its face, while two pairs of wings ruffle over its body’s somber shades.

Then it speaks, and you're shocked to hear Mierul's voice. "We meet again, Einar. They say in death, all questions are answered." Mierul gives a smirk. "Do you have any questions? The newly dead usually do, whether its about the friends and families they left behind, or other important matters they were concerned with when they were alive. It helps them come to terms with their death and move on."

Think of this episode somewhat like a free commune spell. The stuff the mod wants you to do is a little vague, here's a good place to clarify it as any.

"Well..he slept through the last dinner...after he took that potion. At least he had a good breakfast..." The left head looks pained."And you're not fooling anyone here."The right arm moves as if to poke Mr Whiskers on his nose."None of us are in the mood for a party."

"The steak isn't ready yet. If you can get Jadrenka's help in porting you there, we'll have it ready for your return. Otherwise you guys best had better start marching to Vurnin double quick and not worry about steaks." The right head answers brusquely.

"We haven't met your mentor yet. How likely is she to be willing to take us along on a trip to Vurnin?" Mr. Whiskers asks.
