GM Mort |
Done, Combat is on Map C. Erlis has 13 hp, 17 ac, +4 to hit, does 1d8+3 dmg with longspear. Her stats are like 16 str, 14 dex, 14 con, 10 int, 14 wis, 12 cha. Lv 1 Ranger, her lv 1 feat is combat reflexes, I'll roll init for all.
Einar just heal to full when you get to town. Just say while you're in town, Father Natharen saw the injuries and did some channelling.
Mr. Whiskers |
I assume that I'm one spell and one arcane reservoir point down this day.
An arcanist must choose and prepare her spells ahead of time by getting 8 hours of sleep and spending 1 hour studying her spellbook.
I'll get a chance to recover tomorrow night.
Did we get enough rest to avoid fatigue?
Crummock-i-Phail |
Alright, so, no-one mentioned wanting to claim anything from the loot list, so I will assume that we are liquidating everything.
@GM Mort: The Lady mentioned something about a reward for her safe return...?
GM Mort |
Lady Argentea, true to her word, goes to the Silver Stoat to retrieve the rest of her belongings. "Thank you so much for your timely rescue." She thanks the party as she hands them a sack of gold(500gp). "I'll probably be here for a while, until I can catch the next caravan to Katheer." She informs the party.

Just say you got a full spell and arcane pool refresh.

Alright, so, no-one mentioned wanting to claim anything from the loot list, so I will assume that we are liquidating everything.
I don't remember everything we picked up, but considering that the ice elementals appear to be vulnerable to fire we shouldn't sell off Alchemist Fire.
I had expressed an interest in the spellbook and would also be interested in arcane scrolls.
Just say you got a full spell and arcane pool refresh.
Thanks! Updated profile.
GM Mort |
Call me curious, but what armor and weapons would you be commissioning for the ex-bandits?
Suggestion,Crummock - leave all arcane scrolls to Mr Whiskers, he can sort it out later.
GM Mort |
Also, when you guys get to the lodge -
a) Do you want to wake them up at 7.30 am in the morning to tell them Erlis is their new boss and talky talky the whole scene?
b) Fast forward the whole thing - you can leave the supplies there, letting Erlis sort them out - while the party continues adventuring.
Both options will have no differences in what will eventually happen, it is just a different set of dialogue for me to write up.
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
I forgot "Flag" on Einars attack again, need to remember that, Also, with Cadences song not sure of the best way to handle rages.
In this fight if they get too close Einar will rage.
I try to weigh out the need to rage now contrasted with the potential need later, realizing that "Rage early, Rage often" is a successful idiom.
Cadence, or anyone else, is their a good way to balance between using Cadences song and Einars rage, he took "Berserker of the Society" so he has 9 rages.
Mr. Whiskers |
Re: Raging
All you lose at this level is the first level bloodline power, your natural attacks in this case. If you are using a weapon, might as well use her song. Her song also has the advantage of not fatiguing you. The exception would be if the song is not active yet and it looks like a tough battle.
Unfortunately, once you use your own rage in a battle switching off to her song isn't a good option because of fatigue.
Later the decision will become more complex as it will be a choice between rage powers and bloodline powers vs. the rage powers she gives. I would say that you will more frequently use your own rage in any significant battle, but her rage when the foes look to be easy. Also use her rage when the rage powers she gives are more advantageous than your own.
Re: Treasure
I will look it over in detail today.
We should keep the oils of magic weapon, alchemist fire, and smelling salts.
I don't know what to do with the scrolls of animate dead. They are in theory worth a lot of money (if you can find a buyer), but Mr. Whiskers would not use the spells and prefer no one else did either. The scrolls are worth 50 gp more than normal because of costly material components.
Suggestions welcome on those two scrolls. He would have asked the group.
GM Mort |
http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2tyui?PFSCost-of-Scroll-of-Animate-Dead#1
Scrolls of animate dead cost. Please look. Also Mr Whiskers, you can redo your attack roll, since the elemental was dead - so no need defensive concentration check. I'll tabulate later when I wake up.
Mr. Whiskers |
Guess I should have checked the spell first. I knew there was a costly component, but was going from memory on a spell I have never cast in any of the editions of D & D.
Thanks for the correction, Mort!
Cadence Anakevo |
What slide number of the maps are we on? I'm completely and utterly lost.
Also, the elementals just went. Is it my turn? I think it is, but I'm not sure.
Can we have an initiative tracker in the GM posts?
Mr. Whiskers |
Slide 5, the map is labeled C.
There is one elemental left, the one that is near Crummock.
I agree that something tracking who is left to act at the end of each GM combat post would be helpful. Could be as simple as the list of people with those who have a turn bolded.
Cadence Anakevo |
Thank you.
I am interested in alchemist's fires and the cloak of the yeti if it's available. The spyglass is neat. Do we want to keep or sell it?
Mr. Whiskers |
The spyglass is worth 1000 gp, so it would sell for 500 gp. It allows you to see much further.
I would say keep it if you think you have a use for it. It might allow us to see across the chasm (where the bridge is) in spite of the snow.
---
The new Sentinels equipment for each of them should most likely be:
1 blanket, winter if available
1 short bow plus quiver of arrows
1 short sword
1 buckler
1 set padded armor
Also give them the handaxe we found and a shovel. Other miscellaneous survival equipment as needed.
This just happens to align well with what we took off them. We would still be selling weapons back to the village since there are only eight people left at the lodge.
MW Short sword and MW Thieves tools Einar most likely wants.
Keep all of these:
Potion of CLW
Wand of CLW (48/50 charges)
Scroll of Endure Elements
Scroll of Magic Weapon x2
Scroll of Unseen Servant
Oil of Magic Weapon x3
Alchemist's Fire x10
Smelling Salts
I would suggest each person have at least one Alchemist's Fire with remaining flasks on the dogs. Einar, Cadence and Crummock should each take one Oil of Magic Weapon. All the above scrolls Mr. Whiskers would be interested in, but could see selling the scroll of Endure Elements just so Madame Theodora can learn that spell.
Mr. Whiskers wants the spellbook.
Don't know what to do with these:
Scroll of Animate Dead (CL10)
Scroll of Lesser Animate Dead x3
Mr. Whiskers would recommend destroying the scrolls of Animate Dead but admit to how much they are worth.
The loot sheet has a minor error in how the scrolls of animate dead are listed. They should be listed as Animate Dead 10 hd and Lesser Animate Dead 2 hd. The caster level is half the hit dice.
Assuming that a cleric scribed them all (cheapest route), it would be 375 + 250 gp for the first scroll and 150 gp + 50 gp each for the other three scrolls, total value of 1225 gp.
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
I totally missed the MW thieves kit, your right Einar would want that, He would also keep the MW Shortsword, but only because he would keep nice weapons, but is we need to sell it for something else we should do that.
As for the scrolls, Einar would sell them, if anyone wants to "burn them" Einar will offer to get rid of them. Once were in a large enough community to find a buyer that is ;)
Hey there may be a business man who needs cheap labor... (That's what the necromancer was doing that Angus shot that Mort keeps giving me a rough time about.)
Mr. Whiskers |
Missing from the list were the three horses. I don't think we need them.
Mr. Whiskers could be convinced to sell the scrolls or allow someone else to dispose of them. He just wouldn't be happy if he thought they would ever be used. BTW, this is my way of saying my character objects but I don't want to get in the way of the group needs.

That makes sense since Mister Whiskers is neutral good, If he was lawful good would he insist that we dispose of them?

If he were a worshipper of Pharasma he would insist they be destroyed.
As a CG my character would be easier to convince they should be sold. If combined with a low Wisdom or worshipped Nethys, they might be convinced to use them.
Even as a LG, most could probably be convinced to allow another character to dispose of them and fail to figure out what happened. The exception might be my relatively high wisdom, LG rogue Stali who has a reasonable sense motive skill as well.
BretI |
Stali, a LG tengu rogue how very interesting, I had not heard of Alseta before, I would be interested in reading his backstory. I like Tengu's a lot.
I'm not very good at writing up the backstories. I tend to have the basic details, but nothing written in a fun to read way.
Parents fled Tien, never really wanted to talk about what happened there. They found Vieland to be a better place to live.
Born in Vieland, Ustalov near Lepidstadt. Was raised there, got a few lessons at that university.
He follows Alseta, the welcomer. As a follower of her, he believes that gradual change is good. Avoid sudden change, it leads to chaos and misery. If you can just spend time considering the consequences and plan it properly, change can be good.
He tends to have a lot of respect for the old ways, especially harrow decks. He would never play Towers.
Decided he wanted to explore the world, see what opportunities were out there. Worked as a caravan guard/scout for a while.
When he got to Magnimar, he joined the Pathfinder Society.
Yes, this character is for PFS.
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
ok, so it's a second module that hasn't started that would explain who no game posts, that solves the mystery.
This is my tengu, Ting Tang, he is a ton of fun, probably my favorite character so far! He is also "Pathfinder" did "Godsmouth Heresy" with a group Luke_Parry was in, then the same group started "Dragons Demand" but I stopped playing for a while before we were able to finish. RL issues taking care of my sick Father in law
Cadence Anakevo |
The second module is about to start.
I've GMed for Stali both in person and in PbP, since he's quite local to me. Bret lives seven blocks away.
Hmm

That far away huh, I only play on line, started to have something to do to make sure I stay awake at work. Of course I'm Off this weekend so I'm awake...
GM Mort |
Myre was squirimimg, tied up on the ground, offering Angus and Howard suggestions on how to kill the BBEG! And once they were done, Angus just shot him in cold blood... :(
Crummock-i-Phail |
Another thing to consider Re: the 'unholy scrolls' is to sell them to a good-aligned church for destruction; you don't necessarily have to sell them to someone who plans to *use* them.
GM Mort |
See, he was just trying to go into automation. You get mindless zombies working in your factory 24/7 instead of having to pay for overtime, pay lawyers to deal with labour unions over HSE violations and workers rights...
But try tell an inquisitor of Pharasma that...;)
Crummock-i-Phail |
Alright, well, theoretically, we should each have 1003.67gp each by selling off the remaining stuff.
What is the GP limit of the town, in terms of what we can buy? ;-)
GM Mort |
500 gp limit.
Basically check with me for any item that requires magic to make, except for the following:
+1 cold iron sling bullets (10), potion of resist energy (cold), scroll of aid, scroll of sleep, wand of magic weapon (24 charges), wand of scorching ray (42 charges), masterwork banded mail; arrow magnet, ring of force shield.
Also remember the mayor gave you 200 gp as a party of free spending around town.
GM Mort |
If you want to...plot will be moving in 30 min. Feel free to interact if you want.
Crummock-i-Phail |
Well, magic items that fit the 500gp limit that could be of use include:
(I know the Traveller's Any Tool is not available)
Cracked Dusty Rose Ioun Stone (500gp)
Hex Nails (20gp each)
True Color Dye (50gp)
Universal Solvent (50gp)
Soul Soap (200gp)
Bag of Everlasting Dung (500gp)
Clockwork Key (500gp)
Mushroom Vest (500gp)
Recondite Holy Symbol (500gp)
Scabbard of Honing (500gp)
Wayfinder (500gp)
Which (if any) of those are available?
GM Mort |
The only magic items available in town is the Universal Solvent and a Wayfinder. Because I only give module given items, anything extra is up to GM discretion, and GM is lawful.
GM Mort |
The reason why I wanted you guys to decide if you were doing the talky talky or not, was because I had to write out the scene, which took a while. I did it last night, so it was just a copy paste.
GM Mort |
Pay half the cost of arrowheads, have it be on the 200 gp free spending the mayor gave. You get 20 cold iron arrows. You could have purchased more cold iron arrows if you wanted to.
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
ok, Einar would have purchased at least 40 more coldiron arrowheads, can we put those on the tab too? so 1 gp for the first 20 and 4 gp for the next 40.
how much for the 10 coldiron bullets, 10 is the normal amount you buy at a time and coldiron enhancement is double so 4,300 gp. 2 sp. for the bullets? that seems steep, we might not get those.
