Raz, short for Razmatazz

Raz moves up beside Ezren and readies to attack the creature the moment it gets within 10 feet of her. Readying an action to attack it when it comes in range, so hopefully she can kill it before it attacks one of her friends.
lance: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
GM Redelia
Merisiel moves up behind Ezren and throws a dagger.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
critical confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
damage, critical: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6
Merisiel throws a dagger which embeds itself deeply into the creature's head.
The angry spider then rushes forward and skewers itself on Raz's lance.
Combat over, out of initiative.
MorkXII - Valeros
Valeros gently pokes the spider a few times with the arrow in his hand, just to check that it's not getting up again. "Good eyes, Ghik. I didn't even see that thing hiding there," he says. Peering into the cobwebs, he adds, "Are we sure that was the only one?"
GM Redelia
Valeros finds nothing but normal spiders in the webs.
The party carefully moves forward. The find most of the next room also impassible due to rubble, but there is a narrow area they can move carefully through. They find a doorway to a spiral staircase in the middle of the tower, but the stairway is also completely clogged with rubble.
Ghik Vrizei

Ghik smiles in acknowledgement at Valeros and thinks of teasing him Well apart from those three behind you - No if I teach him to ignore my teasing warnings he will take no notice of a genuine one
"Let us see if this spider has fed on any humanoids lately or if we can learn of other denizens of this tower"
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Merisiel by redeux
excellent job everyone! says Merisiel as she tries to recover her dagger.
is my dagger recoverable or do i need to roll to see if it broke?
She moves into the room that has a doorway to a spiral staircase. "Perhaps this is a time for some climbing?" Merisiel says thinking out loud.
She looks at the staircase and surrounding area to see if there is any place that can be climbed or where a grappling hook might be useful.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Merisiel by redeux
Merisiel returns to the group.
"The staircase is clogged with rubble, but I think there is a way to climb the tower where it caved in. Anyone ready for some climbing? says Merisiel. I sure hope this works out. I'm not used to working in groups and having others watch my failures, she thinks to herself.
Raz, short for Razmatazz
|
"Oof, climbing really isn't Zora's forte'. We're going to have to tie a rope to her and hoist her up, once someone else makes it up there."
Doggies are not good climbers... :)
Merisiel by redeux
party - I've got +5 climbing. Is this something I should climb and throw a rope down? or should we avoid that in case there is an ambush at the top?
Raz, short for Razmatazz
|
I think Merisiel climbing up and sending down a rope is definitely a good idea. Since you have excellent Perception, you should be able to see if there's an ambush before any of us anyway.
Merisiel by redeux
Could be worse. At least we don't have to hoist up Valeros, right? Merisiel thinks to herself.
"I'm sure we could get Zora up. I think I could make the climb, but I'm not sure how great my silk rope would hold up if anyone else is needing a hoist." I can make that climb, right? ... Sure, Meris. You've done more difficult ascents in the past...without an audience.
"Anything else we can use?"
MorkXII - Valeros
Valeros looks up the side of the tower, at Merisel, and then back up at the tower. "I think I could get up that.", he boasts, more competitive than arrogant. And then, before anyone can respond, he rushes to the wall and starts searching for handholds in the wall.
Climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
MorkXII - Valeros
Valeros looks around sheepishly, not quite looking anyone else in the eye. "My rope might be better suited to helping the rest of us up," he says to Meri while digging through his pack for it. "Here ya go.", he adds as he passes her the hemp rope.
Merisiel by redeux
Merisiel lets out a slight chuckle at Valeros' attempt. "Happens to the best of us!" she says as she recovers her breath. Now let's hope I can do better.
Merisiel takes the rope and then attempts to climb
Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Ghik Vrizei
|
Ghik smiles at Valeros, "A silk rope is just as strong as a hemp rope but it is lighter and more expensice to produce. The weight may not matter as much as the cost to you but to some of us this is important consideration
bit like old hemp ropes and new nylon ropes thaqt climbers use these days.
Merisiel by redeux
Merisiel looks around and evaluates the area to be safe. Phew! embarassment saved! She then glances down at the rest of the group, "That's how you do it, Valeros!" she mocks.
She then finds some larger pieces of rubble to tie the hemp rope around, and then throws the rope down to the rest of the group. She grabs onto the rope to support it and calls out "Whose next?"
Raz, short for Razmatazz

"Looks like the elf made it to the top. You tallfolk go first, then I'll tie the rope around Zora here and follow you, and we can hoist her up."
Climb DC5 when it's her turn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Continued Climbs if needed: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Continued Climbs if needed: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

"I'd like to go next," volunteered Ezren. He checks to see if all his stuff is strapped to him tight and grabs the rope from Merisiel.
"Steady! I'm not as spry as you young 'uns."
Climb DC 5: 1d20 ⇒ 15
MorkXII - Valeros
Valeros grabs for the rope, and misses as its jerked up out of reach. He looks up sharply at Meri, who taunts him and lowers the rope again, only to yank it away again. He feels a brief flash of annoyance, but then manages to find the humor in the situation. "Do that again, Meri, and once I get up there, you'll be needing to climb back up again!", he jokes.
Finally able to grab the rope, he makes a second, hopefully easier, attempt to climb up.

Will try to do a Gandalf and try to use my nose to decide which door to go to. Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Ghik Vrizei

And there I was about to role a dice to determine which door to take
Ghik notes Ezren's trying to sense what is beyond the doors and thinks he has some means of scouting ahead of his own. He casts a spell to try and look beyond the left/southern door first. He will repeat on the other door unless Ezren beats him to it
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
In case there are magic items beyond the door
If our combined senses come up with nothing Ghik will flip a coin
coin flip 1 heads southern door 2 tails northern door: 1d2 ⇒ 1
GM Redelia
Listening at the doors fails to reveal anything. Detect magic also seems silent. Thus, going with coin flip.
You move cautiously through the southern door, Merisiel leading the way and keeping a careful eye out for traps.
Merisiel: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 +1 v. traps
Raz: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Valeros: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Ghik: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Ezren: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
There is a trap that would send darts shooting at someone who entered this room. You also can see reptilian footprints in the dust in front of the far door to the room.
Erzen by yamasaki

"Lass," referring to Merisiel, "Do you see those? Reptillian footprints. And there seems to be a nasty surprise when we open the door. Do you mind removing the trap?"
Merisiel by redeux
"Yes, I see some kind of dart trap! Let's see if we can make quick work of it!"
Merisiel positions herself near the door and attempts to disable the launching mechanism without triggering the trap. You can do it Meris she reassures herself.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
additional Disable Device if needed: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
additional Disable Device if needed: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Do i get a +1 for disable device as well, or is that already calculated in my skills? My trapfinding skill states: "Trapfinding Merisiel gains a +1 bonus on Perception checks to locate traps and on Disable Device checks. She can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps." I ask because my character sheet specifically listed the +1 for trapfinding, but it doesn't mention the +1 from this skill for disable device
Merisiel by redeux
Ah, great point, thanks for that!
"Easy enough!" she exclaims. Told ya you had it! she silently mocks herself.
"Now that that's all sorted, are we all ready to enter?" she inquiries. Directing her gaz towards Raz and Zora, "Maybe send the 4-legger to scout it out incase I missed something, yeah?" she jests
GM Redelia
You make it carefully through the room. You do not see anything else of interest.
You walk over to the door at the other side of the room. Merisiel carefully checks it for traps, but does not find anything. As she carefully opens the door, a wave of nauseating stench washes over you.
Fortitude saves, please, everyone, to see how the smell impacts you.
You can not yet see into the room.
Merisiel by redeux
I think my fortitude is just d20+2 right?
"what in the..."
Fortitude: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
send help!
Raz, short for Razmatazz
|
Fort Raz: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Fort Zora: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Zora is able to ignore the smell, but Raz succumbs to it, coughing and retching.
GM Redelia
Those who failed the save are sickened for 10 rounds. (about a minute and a half) (DC was 11)
Merisiel did not open the door very far, and you're not sure if any of the creatures in the room noticed.
MorkXII - Valeros
Looking at the others, some of them look like they're going to be sick. "I don't know what you're all complaining about. It's not that bad - I've definitely smelled worse than this before."
Raz, short for Razmatazz
|
Raz takes a deep breath once the gas dissipates a bit. "You smell almost as bad, that's why. You're used to it." Raz gripes at Valeros.
She moves toward the door and readies to enter.
Merisiel by redeux
"Okay guys, I'm ready...I think." she says. She then directs her attention towards Ghik and Ezren "I think it is pretty obvious why Valeros is used that that foul smell, but what's your stories? It it all those sniffing doors you've been doing?"
