that's correct, 3 remaining. I did mention "the last skeleton with a bow" - the other two have dropped theirs
Vonk Dogburner |
"Wait for meeeeee!" Vonk stows the wand and dashes over towards the two skeletons on the left side of the room. His short legs don't get him very far. He looks between the skeletons and Lurgun, deciding that throwing a bomb might hurt Lurgun. Poking the big gob with the pokey stick would probably be better.
Double move, will heal Lurgun next turn.
Red Ramage |
Farg Farg and Fangface combine gob and dog in a flurry of snapping teeth and poking lance to bring down a skeleton.
Kavous charges the skeleton with a bow, swinging his dogslicer two-handed in an attempt to knock the legs out from under it.
Kavous trip attack: 1d20 ⇒ 14
skeleton attack of opportunity: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
With a clatter of bones, the skeleton falls prone! Without a pause, it clambers back onto its feet and attacks Kavous, who dodges nimbly back and lands an ineffective counterattack on its arm.

Pony not die! Pony have 1 hitpoint left!
Pony lets out a terrified (or terrifying depending on your point of view) whinny as the skeleton tears into it with it's claws. It spins, kicking out again at the skeleton before slowly limping away, clearly in pain.

Hoof 2: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11

"Stop hurting pony!" Makena calls again, clearly getting upset at the loss of her friends. She seems rather at a loss as to what to do to stop these boneshanks though, hurling another ball of acid at the now easier target.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
acid damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
One damage. Woo!
Can't wait for level two when I get Augment Summoning...
Boorgub Boomstick |
If the pony and Makena haven't killed the nearest boneshanks Boorgub will shoot at it. If they have he will aim at the one by Kavous and Lurgun.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage roll: 1d6 ⇒ 1
I'm right there with you Makena, but I had even more choices for the roller so I think that means that mine sucks more.

Lurgun is now conscious and can act.
Lurgun the Ugly |
Lurgun will stand and scoop up his weapon.
I believe that is two move actions, and possibly provokes ao's.

As Lurgun rises to his feet, the two skeletons take advantage of his vulnerable position and swipe at him, bony claws scraping against his armor.
can you put a statblock in your profile, Lurgun? It would help me out greatly
Makena and Boorgub both damage one of the skeletons - acid-weakened bone splinters as a bullet hits it. Unfortunately both skeletons remain standing.
Farg Farg spins Fangface around and rides him into the water to reach a skeleton. Fangface can't find good enough footing to charge through the water, but bravely surges forward nonetheless. As Farg Farg spears his lance towards the undead menace, Kavous attempts to strike a blow on the skeleton to distract if from the true threat.

"Yeah, get em Lur-gun!" Vonk pokes Lurgun with the stick again. He seems to be getting the hang of waving the wand around just right. Wow! Poke gobs with sticks and they fight! Then Vonk no get hurt by bad guys. Great idea!

Given it's behaviour I'd think it would more likely be Fluttershy.

Makena, with tears in her eyes scuttles out of the water, moving to get a better shot at the boneshanks that killed Pony. She raises both hands above her head, chanting and hopping, and with a mighty throw hurls a globe of acid at the stupid meanie, hopefully putting a stop to it once and for all!
If this is a standard skeleton that should do it :)
Lurgun the Ugly |
On his action Lurgun will attack one of the skeletons.

Makena's acid glob brings down one skeleton, and Lurgun's mighty swing crushes the other to bone shards with a single blow!
Abruptly, the hall is quiet, save for the splashing of the fountain.
Okki, who moved through the pool, finds that several shiny pieces of a blue ceramic material have worked their way into his footgear. Investigating the pool, he finds that the bottom of the pool is completely filled with these shiny chunks. In addition to the pretties, a scattering of gold coins fills the pool. Collecting them yields 350 gold.
The hallway takes a sharp turn to the left and opens into a large room. A pool of luminous blue water lies in the center of this grand chamber. A spectacular fountain pours into the pool from the image of a winged beast, perhaps a sphinx, low on the north wall. From there, a pair of steep stone stairs ascend in switchbacks to the north, flanked by ornamental pillars and terminating at a stone doorway.
Makena Sootscale |
As the two boneshanks fall in close succession the fight goes out of Makena and she slumps down to sit on the floor, wiping at her face and sniffling a bit. "Makena is running out of friends to help." she murmurs sadly to no-one in particular.
Okki |
Okki heads over and plops down next to Makena. He pats her on the arm.
"You got gobs in gobs. Gobs just like a friend. Most will listen if you shout at it loud enough."
He gets back up and waves at Vonk.
"Thanks for the helpy-stick. Think you could do it to Okki again?
Vonk Dogburner |
Vonk investigates the shinies in the pool.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
"Yeah! I poke all so you can fight good!" Vonk brandishes the wand, jabbing Lurgun, Okki, and Boorgub with it.
"Hey Boorgub. That boomstick real great! Is it can shoot fires? Vonk can make fire come out or maybe a thing so it can shoot real fast." He admires the boomstick for a moment, daydreaming of all the wonderful explosions and fire it could cause.

Makena Sootscale |
Makena gives a big sniff before looking up at Okki, smiling a little. "Thanks Okki... but I already used my good magic, and if I run out of friends I wont be able to help gobs any more. Makena needs to get more powerful. Master had SO MANY different friends." she observes. After taking another few moments to compose herself she climbs back to her feet and heads over to the fountain to look at what the others are talking about. She wiggles and bops out a spell before squinting at the pool and the shinies, wondering if any of it is magic. If not she'll simply climb into the water and start pulling it out. "Hey thems the shinies the chief wants. That's like..." she seems to be trying to count and do math judging by the look of concentration and the way she's staring at and wiggling her fingers. "many days can give to chief!" Personally she finds the blue chips more interesting than the coins. "Maybe we find more colours, then can make pretty picture." she observes, looking at the pile of stuff, still standing in the water and again lamenting the lack of a sack. She needed to carry more sacks...
Red Ramage |
Neither the chips nor the pool detects as magic.
Lurgun the Ugly |
Lurgun pats Vonk on the head affectionately in thanks.
"Good stick. Thanky you."
Red Ramage |
Okki quickly surmises that both the left and right hand paths lead to the same place as he ascends the passage. No boot marks or footprints mar the sand-dusted flagstone floor - the skeletons must have been doing a good job as guards. The twin staircase switchbacks wind upwards, terminating in a cross-shaped chamber.
A terrible stone idol stands on a small dias in the center of this room. The idol depicts a demonic being with a birdlike head and writhing serpents for legs; the eyes are fiery orange gems. Ornamental pillars surround the chamber, and open archways lead from this chamber to the south and west. An eerie soundlessness enwraps the entire chamber.
Okki |
Okki peers at the gems.
"Hey gobs. Lookit' that!"
He waits for the others before attempting to cross to the idol to inspect the gems. Maybe he could pry them out with a dagger?
He checks over the statue for any signs of traps.

Makena Sootscale |
"Dis room seems funny... and things like that dangerous. Should be careful." Makena murmurs, still not back to her normal enthusiastic self it seems. She squints a little, leaning partially into the room but remaining by the door "Me thinks that demon... he name... um... Bob. Bobosaurus."
HOw big is this idol? Is it like statue size or carry around size?
I really need to take a rank in Knowledge (Planes) :p
Vonk Dogburner |
"Yeah, really good stick." Vonk uses the magical stick on Farg Farg as he follows Okki to the next room. He isn't quite sure what to think of Lurgun patting him on the head. He probably wouldn't let most gobs do something like that, but he is a bit intimidated by the bigger hobgoblin.
CWL on Farg Farg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"Wow Makena smart ko-bold. Okki thinks we can take shinies from here?" Vonk peers into the room, but not willing to venture in until Okki declares it safe.

The statue is about five feet tall, and clearly weighs many hundred pounds. Okki finds no evidence that it's trapped.
Vonk hears nothing. The silence is total - all you hear is the ringing in your ears from Boorgub's pistol. Your footsteps make no sound at all, and even when you try to speak no sound emerges.
Vonk Dogburner |
"Ello? Why there no voices in here? No need for sneeks in here." Vonk says, his voice muted by the room. As Okki works on salvaging the shinies, Vonk searches the rest of the room for additional shinies and peers down the corridor to the west to make sure no one is sneaking up on the gobs.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Red Ramage |
The two orange gems are separated easily enough from the statue. After several minutes of scraping, they glimmer in Okki's hands. Vonk does not find any additional shinies or see any enemies.
Vonk Dogburner |
"Maybe there more shinies this way? Gob sword be in here somewhere. If Chief say it, it here." Vonk says, forgetting that no one can hear him in this weird room. Seeing there is nothing else to be found here, Vonk wanders west to the next room.
Red Ramage |
vonk and anybody following
As Vonk wanders west, he finds out that the silence effect seems to only be in the room with the idol - as soon as he steps out into the hallway sound returns.
A large stone dais in this chamber supports a great sarcophagus. The lid, once carved in the image of a sleeping ancient warrior, is cracked into two pieces and lies askew. The dead bodies of several longshanks adventurers lie crumpled on the floor: a man with a shaven head wearing battered scraps of leather, a dark-haired woman in scholarly robes, and a yellow-haired elf in hide trappings.
Boorgub Boomstick |
Boorgub pokes Okki and Makena and gestures toward the hall. In the new room he examines the dead bodies for both signs of how they died and valuables.

I think there are dead bodies, is that clothes on them I'm not sure.
Makena Sootscale |
Makena moves cautiously into the wuiet and stops when all conversation fails. She frowns, and starts hopping and mouthing like she does when she casts a spell, but when she stops nothing seems to happen and she seems annoyed. She tries a couple more times, getting rather red in the face, before it occurs to her to back out of the room until she can hear herself again and cast her spell. Then she stands there squinting at everything.
Detect Magic trying to identify the origin of the silence effect.
Once she has located the cause of the silence she moves through the room to catch up to the others, still distrustfully concentrating on her spell. If the gobs who built this place have access to magic spells maybe they have other, more dangerous spells around...
When they reach the other room and find several longshanks bodies she stops and scratches her head. How did longshanks get past boneshanks? If nothing grabs her attention she will let her concentration fade and wander over to poke at the bodies and exercise her masterful knowledge of the healing arts murering a spell as she does so. Her poking of the corpses doesn't seem to provide much insight however. Clearly they were killed by dark evil magic as she suspected! She would have to figure out what they used and steal it... "Don't touch the stone tall-shanks box!" she yells suddenly, spinning around to look at the sarcophagus, likely already too late.
