The afternoon rolls along into evening, with Aananda, Ryo and Tamrin pulling out bizarre and funny stories from their pasts to liven up their meal at the Juggling Dwarf.

As the eating and drinking finally start to wind down, Tam finishes up his story with "......and that's when I tried to buy the horse a prostitute!" Laughter ensues.

Bonus points to anybody who gets that webcomic reference :D

.........I don't get it. What's a prostitute?

Ah, the endless possibilities for social awkwardness when you've been raised in a monastery. ;)

How in the blazes do I answer that....? Ahh - innocent knowledge dump. Of course! :P

"Oh. Um...I forgot that word might not be in circulation around here. They might be called harlots, strumpets or trollops here. Or maybe streetwalkers, 'tantric engineers', hetaera...do any of those sound familiar?" Tam asks, trying very hard to not start blushing again.

She looks at him blankly. "Ummmmm.....no?"

Tam tries to find any other description that would work, then gives up. After a heavy sigh, he just says "A person who receives money for....errr...performing....ummmm....sexual-type acts..."

Don't you just hate that feeling when you think you have a great joke, but you lose it when you have to explain the whole thing? Welcome to Tam's personal Hell for today....now with 50% more awkward sexual undertones! YAY.... ;D

Her eyes go wide and she blushes furiously. "Oh. Ummmm....I didn't know people did that..."

She looks uncomfortable and suddenly jumps up from the table. "You know I uh, think I'll just head over to the ummmm....just....I'll be back in a little bit..." she stammered.

Best. Information. Network. Evar. (at least that's his logic) ;P

Aananda darts out of the inn, ducking around the back before stopping. She leaned against the wall. Stupid, stupid, stupid. She had made a total idiot of herself. She was like an ignorant child about so many things, and for some reason it really bothered her that Tam might see her as a child. If she'd just kept her mouth shut. Or not gone running off. She put her hands over her face. She was such an idiot.

Male Elf (reincarnated - originally Human) Fighter 5 / Wizard 6 / Arcane Gunslinger 6

Knowing he had no hope of keeping up with her without magic, Tam quickly excuses himself from the table and goes after Aananda. Not seeing her when he comes outside, he calls out after her then heads to the shop quickly to see if she's there.

She jumped when she heard Tam calling her name. She hesitated, not sure if she wanted to be found. Her shoulders slumped. Might as well get this over with.

"I'm over here," she called weakly.

Male Elf (reincarnated - originally Human) Fighter 5 / Wizard 6 / Arcane Gunslinger 6

Tam slowly pokes his head around the corner.

"....I'm sorry I did that. Again. If you need some time to yourself, I totally understand - I've probably done enough damage for one day anyway. I wasn't even thinking about how much explaining that joke might require."

"For what it's worth, you don't have to run off when something like that happens - though I should've avoided something that 'racy' in the first place..."

Same here in Indiana. It's been snowing off and on all day. Nice, isn't it?

Ahem.

Post the first.:
Jimpy Ashetongue wrote:

"Oooo! Look, Barak! A tiger and ladies! Which one would you choose? I'd choose the tiger because tigers are big and eat people and like chocolate and birds and I like birds and chocolate and eating people too!"

Jimpy the dino-riding halfling surges forward on his racing dinosaur and begins waving wildly at the new group. "Oh! Hello! Can I pet your tiger? Does it eat people? Does it like wearing bandanas and sugary cereals and promoting a corporate agenda in the name of childhood memories? Are you wild people? Do you wear pants? I used to not wear pants but then I got thrown in jail where they like you a little too much if you don't wear pants, so now I wear pants and burn people who get excited like that at the sight of me without pants!"

Post the second:
Jimpy Ashetongue wrote:
"Yep, some of the people here like to eat people. And there are big lizards and underground cities and cannibals, though no halflings have tried to eat me yet so I guess they're not really cannibals since you have to be the same species and I'm not and I haven't eaten any halflings so I'm not a cannibal but I guess if I ate a human I wouldn't be a cannibal either so maybe it's not so bad to eat humans and dwarfs and elves and monkeys, though not monkeys because they're cool and they can climb trees and swing from branches and throw poo and I wish I could throw poo but I can only throw fire and burn things and they don't like it when you burn things here which is too bad since they make a lovely sight when they burn, things that is, not poo or monkeys."

See what I must deal with in my pbp? Jimpy is one of the best characters I have ever seen(role-play wise anyway).

"I...I'm sorry. I was just....embarrassed," she said, blushing and looking anywhere but at Tam. "I didn't really know how to deal with that. I...I just felt really stupid and ignorant," she blurted out, "which I guess I am, at least the ignorant part. We weren't taught about a lot of things at the temple. The monks were not exactly forthcoming about that sort of thing especially. I believe the exact words were, 'procreation tends to foster attachment, therefore we strongly discourage such actions, and will speak no more of such things in this temple.' And the master, he wore a robe but this halfling said it was more like a dress, and the master got mad, though he wasn't supposed to be mad, 'cause they, like, discourage outward signs of emotion, 'cause it can lead to attachments, but that's what the halfling was laughing about, because the master's attachment was hanging out, and the master was like 'it's cold outside and it's usually bigger', but the halfling just laughed some more and said his was bigger so he dropped his pants to show the master and the master just coughed and walked away. Are you going to eat that piece of bread?

Yeah, I could make this work.

"I guess that makes sense, yeah," Tam replies quietly. Suddenly realizing how bad a half-thought out sentence can sound (like the one he just blurted out), Tam's face gets flushed.

"This is just my day for innapropriate one liners, isn't it?" as he shakes his head and comes around the corner.

"I was going to suggest that there's a pretty good public library in this city. Aananda started reading the datapad. At one point she was clearly trying to make sense of a diagram. She tilted her head to the side and then turned the datapad first one way and then the other. "That looks like it hurts" she muttered incredulously.
