Alright, folks, can't help but notice we seem to have ground to a bit of a halt. I assume that's based on some sort of confusion about where we're at, or maybe a miscommunication somewhere. What can I do to help us get rolling? Should I just proceed, as if everyone has arrived or is arriving in the council chamber? Or do we need to resolve some outside situations more fully first?
Roy MacArran
I'm mostly caught at a point of not being sure what to do. I'm not familiar with this setting, as I've said before, so I really don't know what would be acceptable or not, and I was kind of waiting on someone else to post in as an example or some such. I also meant to PM you asking about that sort of thing, Viscount, but I've been busy with life stuff as well so I didn't get around to it.
Eztil of Obsidian and Turquoise
For Eztil, I was waiting on the flashback thread. Does he meet a parent, are parental machinations behind the scenes, or get invited in another way. James could find out he is a sorcerer, suspect he is family due to something Eztil says, etc. and just invite him along.
For now I can just assume he is somehow invited and will be at the council chamber. He would be introduced as just Eztil or maybe "The Sorcerer Eztil" if a title is insisted upon. Sometimes you need to give the herald something to work with.

My intention was to have it be a separate meeting as I didn't think my character would have directly been invited (totally my fault for my background). Figured his parent arranges the invite and the position either publicly or secretly once they know he is alive.
You taking him to the odd meeting place gives me a chance to interact and for your to become suspicious. Figure his psyche stands out in some way to say "hey this guy is no normal shadow dweller" at which point people become suspicious of him usually.
Plus there is the whole bloody mess he left in the alley... it was deemed an act of self defense but they weren't sure how he did it.
James of Amber
I'm fine with your story, but I shouldn't take over the meeting you have scheduled with someone else (likely it would have to be Viscount K).
The fact it was the day of the big council meeting and I had just arrived back let me make the mistake that you were family and called to the king's meeting.
Finding out that was not the case and that you were scheduled to be elsewhere at what I thought was the time of the campaign specific meeting means I have to hand you off.
If you would rather the note be from the king (or a representative of him) and the meeting listed be the main meeting, we can run it that way.
Anything set up by your unknown relative might have needed to already happen if you are planning your character to attend the council meeting.
James of Amber
In regards to entering the council chamber, I just picked titles and such this morning (after a busy couple of days in RL).
And I'm standing with Eztil in a hallway and need to resolve what's up with him before I enter.
I would be happy to post my entry, with who I go stand with and what titles are announced once the other bit is set.
If I go in, I can either meet Roy at the entrance and we'll walk in together (and be announced as Sheriff and Acting Sheriff) or he can use my entrance as an example and follow me.
Chaney, Nikolas, are you comfortable with hearing yourselves announced or do you want to do it yourselves?
I think Marjana wants to bust in after the others are introduced.
We seem to have lost Alric.
Eztil of Obsidian and Turquoise
I was thinking it was earlier than the council meeting, but right before the council meeting could work well and shortcut a separate meeting in the gardens. All for short cutting stuff to get to the meat of the council meeting.
What if his parent was waiting on the council meeting and looks over to see their dead son? Or they had already scouted out Eztil and saw it was apparently dead son and arranged for him to arrive?
Eztil doesn't look quite like he used to, but parent could have recognized aura or something. Still some explaining to do.

As far as 'acceptable' goes - you're dealing with a King's Court, butin a fairly informal one most of the time, and you yourself are a Prince, and one given a bit more leeway than most. You can get away with a lot, etiquette-wise.
He would be introduced as just Eztil or maybe "The Sorcerer Eztil" if a title is insisted upon. Sometimes you need to give the herald something to work with.
Prince of Amber is absolutely a valid title as well, if you like.
James of Amber
In the interest of getting moving again, I will wait 'til this evening, then ret-con Eztil's appointment as being the actual big meeting.
I'll take him in with me, let him give his name and titles to be announced, and prepare to enter.
We will come together with Roy before entry, meet and greet, and then go in.
Chaney can either already be there or enter after; same with Nikolas.
Marjana can then make an entrance.
And, after dealing with all entering, Viscount K can give us the briefing on what the campaign will be about.
Everyone not OK with this, please speak up.
Eztil of Obsidian and Turquoise
I'm fine with that James. The invitation from the "chamberlain" could have just indicated the room/time where the big meeting is instead of a separate one at the garden. Parent working behind the scenes to keep things moving.
Edit I just added a retcon for the letter to meet at the place/time for the big meeting with Random. Eztil wouldn't have thought anything of it.
Eztil of Obsidian and Turquoise
Introduction made in the other gameplay thread. I don't know who Eztil's parents are and if the Amber parent would have used their real name, so I'm being deliberately vague and Eztil didn't mention his parents names.
If his parent is in the room when they arrive... well he is schooled enough to control his reactions, but still.
Marjana
Marjana has no particular need to be last, though I'd kind of wanted
to be after Nikolas, just for the reaction.
Like Etzil, I'd hoped for a bit more preamble, so I had a better idea
where things stood, but in the interest of getting things moving, I'll
improvise. So that I've got some idea where Marjana's coming from,
while still leaving the big questions vague.
She'll ask to be introduced simply as "The Lady Marjana of Amber and
Alhambra", the former to make her claim known without claiming any
specific title as yet and the latter mostly to confuse any
representatives from the Shadow of her birth.
James of Amber
We can do the preambles over in the roleplay thread, but I'm worried we'll lose track if we don't get to the story soon.
I apologize for the pushing I'm doing, but James is becoming more and more wonderful and powerful as I think more on him and he needs the 'reality' of the situation to bring him back to a sense of being one of many, not just his own legend.
Court like this is unusual in the books so we will be winging it to a large extent.
Random is usually pretty informal, though we have no idea how Oberon acted with his Court.
For whatever this crisis is, it seems like Random is acting as he might have seen his father do, back in King Oberon's day.
Chaney, Grimson
Chaney brushes a strand of unruly hair off his vest, stating, "Now, what was the order of formality mother tried to browbeat into me those decades ago? Ah, yes, 'Chaney Barimen, of the House of Dybele, son of Florimel of Amber and John Gaunt of Cynosure, Duke of Eachester, Lord Protector of Cynosure, and Warden of Arden.'"
Viscount K
Erg. There's a storm in my area today, and the internet at my house is being a bastard. I have a post ready to go, but posting from my phone is more trouble than it's worth - I'll have something up either when I get to work tonight or whenever the internet comes back up, whichever comes first.
Viscount K
The intent was to list the parents 'son of Cullum Beowulf of Shadow and Deirdre, Princess of Amber', then give his own titles.
Hopefully, it sounded clearer spoken than it looked written.
Ooohhhhhh. Yeah, that does make more sense. Cool.
James does not claim the title of Prince. Is there a particular response to Eztil from any of the Amberites?
Absolutely! When I kick into response mode in gameplay later on this evening (hopefully), such will be made clear.
Viscount K
Moire rules Rebma to this day, although there have been rumors of her growing weary of the crown's burden. The line of succession in Rebma has not been clear for ages, but there is talk that the crown may pass to Llewella or Martin, son of Random by Morganthe of Rebma.
And on that note, I apologize for yet another delay, but I had one of the craziest nights at work that I can remember, and I am officially exhausted. I'll get the Council started in earnest this evening come hell or high water, so if y'all intend to make any bold moves before things begin for realsies, now's the time.
Viscount K
...Well, don't I feel stupid. Sorry, folks, I could've sworn I posted back on Friday, and here I was assuming you folks were just taking the weekend to get on with things. Fortunately, I believe I do have said post saved on a notepad - unfortunately, said notepad is on my laptop, which is currently elsewhere. I'll have it up tonight. My bad!
Viscount K
Marjana's not going to interrupt the king or really have anything to say here until we know more, so don't wait on me.
Might join in on side chatter at the kid's table if any pops up, but again, feel free to move on.
Acknowledged. I'll give it another day, then truck onwards.
Viscount K
O...kay. Real talk time, friends.
Clearly, I haven't been holding up my end of the bargain here. That last promised post, for instance? Yeah, no idea what happened to that. My life has gotten a lot busier than I expected it to since we got the game started, and I haven't made getting to posts a priority like is a GM's responsibility, and I definitely apologize for that (especially after the arduous creation process!). Unfortunately, I don't really see myself getting much quicker on the draw in the foreseeable future, so I ask you this.
Should I continue to push things forward in my haphazard, extremely slow kind of way, or just quietly set the game to inactive and let you folks get on with more fruitful endeavors? I'm more than glad to leave the game active and keep on posting whenever I find the time (typically, this has been something like twice a week so far, with some variations depending on my particular RL nonsense); obviously, I have no problem with keeping up a very slow game. I recognize, of course, that that can be a frustrating thing to be a part of, and is definitely not what I promised when we got started, so no shame or hard feelings if you'd rather bow out. Me, I'll keep running for whoever's interested, although we may have to quickly re-auction or something if absentees throw the balance of power completely out of whack.
Again, I'm really sorry I've been lame about this, and please, let me know what you think about going forward.
Loup Blanc
Hey all! I'm just posting this into each of my active games to let you all know that starting this Thursday, I'm going to be going on a trip to France for my university. While we're spending the first few days in Paris and the last few in Bordeaux, the majority of the trip will be renovating a chateau in the south of the country, where the Internet will probably be spotty and I won't have much time to post. I'll do my best to keep up with games, and I imagine I should be able to get up a post every few days at least, but it will probably be less active than usual. Please feel free to take control of my character for the time being! I'll be back home come June, so it's just for a few weeks.
