So, making the save... take half damage... 12hp and become fatigued? What sort of spell... anything about being a dhampir mitigate?

Thinking out loud here - there seems to be about as many of the enemy as us. And they all seem to be about our level AND have the full vampire template. I worry that they are mostly all full casters too. So they will have more hit points, better saves, regeneration, etc, AND level drain. This may be our toughest fight. This is partially why Tolvan is talking. If there is a non-combat way out of this fight we should consider it. :)

Talking to them might work if they were the old establishment vamps, but I have a strong suspicion that these are the Way vamps so they won't be interested in parlaying.

I hope our ally Quinley pulls some weight because an exhausted Anna is a ineffective Anna. I won't be of much help from here on out.

The spell was just heat and wind. Also, I didn't see any resistance to fatigue from Dhampir. So you take half damage and you are fatigue.

With these guys for sure - no more diplomacy. I had hoped that maybe some of this group was not working with the Whispering Way, but it appears that hope was fruitless.

There are certainly two factions at play here. The established faction of vampires (still evil of course) and the young upstarts that have aligned with our true enemies, the Whispering Way. While I have never played this AP, for some reason I had a feeling that the more powerful vampires were in the first camp. All of these guys seem powerful and are likely well entrenched in the hierarchy of the vampire community. That seems to suggest that it is indeed too late for any diplomacy, which likely means a much harder path to success for us.

No, there is an altar and a ruined statue in the way. But if you stand in the same square as the statue, you would have the high ground.

I'm not sure why (perhaps my extended absence) but, I'm having a difficult time following the AP or the whys and wherefores.

So the Whispering Way is doing stuff and collecting items for some "wake-up" or "release" of Tar Barphon and we are running around the inner sea trying to stop them. They seem to stay one step ahead of us. In this book the Way is opposed to the vampire leadership of the town and has propped up a small but active group trying to take out or take over the leadership. Historically the vampires collectively opposed Tar Barphon because the lich guy wants everyone to be undead and if that happens then the vampires loose their blood source.

It should be noted that the current leadership has at least toned down their use of people as cattle and we have at least been told that they only take blood from those who offer it for various reasons. The upstarts who are killing vampires nightly likely will not continue this human-friendly harvesting. One of the ways the Way is helping the "bad" vampires is some blood potion that I think we have some of. Likely some hags or witches or witch hags are helping them. This last fight we took out agents of the bad vamp team. Soon I think we go after the witches.

Tolvan's quick thoughts on Loot:

feather token (tree) - This can be useful to block a passage or climb out of a hole.

javelins of lightning (3) - Meh - 5d6 but I don't think you need an attack roll to hit and can hit more than one enemy. Reflex is only a DC 14 so average damage is likely gonna be like 10 points. Good for swarms.

Briefly looking over character sheets I do not see cloaks of resistance on Anna or Andjela or Danica??? We have two cloaks of Reistance +2 and one of +1- each of you should grab one. Maybe Andjela or Danica gets the +1 since their saves should be better.

Also I do not see rings of protection on either Anna or Andjela. If that is right please one of you grab that +2 ring.

Anna's got a cloak of elvenkind and three rings -- the ring of limited invisibility, a +1 ring of protection and a ring of mind shielding. She wears the ring of mind shielding during social situations and the ring of protection during combat.

Swapping cloaks seems a lot more cumbersome, so I haven't tried that because Anna prefers being sneaky.

So I don't mind if Andjela takes the +2 ring.

Ah. You have three ares where you have "Gear". In my quick look I only looked at Gear and so missed some of your better items. As far as the cloak discussion goes - I will note you have recently failed some important? saves so the +2 cloak might be of more use. Totally your call. Mostly I am just trying to get loot distributed, at least til we decide to sell some stuff.

To that end, Tolvan will ask to carry the Wand of Magic Missiles and the +2 silver sword.
