You find Joadric in the lodge tavern room drinking ale with other pathfinders.
Xoricon Quickblade |
"Joadric!" says Xoricon merrily. "Xoricon. We found some of your things. Or rather, this little goblinette found your things, and then we found her after a bit of an obstacle course. She appears to only want her friend's skull." He arches a brow quite high, as if to say do you know anything about this, good fellow?
qwerty71 |
The Kellid man named Joadric seems on his way to getting drunk with other rough fellows. He looks over the items... "Hey that is my wayfinder... that is my necklace...How did you get my gear?...A goblin you say... and you caught the blasted thing... well done!... Never seen this creature before in my life, but they are all thiefs anyway. No surprise it tried to steal from us. Good show then. I will take my wayfinder back but you can borrow my necklace of fireballs if you like as you solve this theft." He turns away from you and continues drinking with other hardy men in the tavern.
Jhon Doe |
Ok, Joadric has his things. Now, what are be going to do with the goblin?
If it don´t serve us for anything more. Give it the skull, give it to the town´s guards and let me wash myself
By the way Jhon refers to the goblin as "it", is very clear he´s still a little angry for getting dirty in the chase.

Sheila Heidmarch hears of the break-in and asks for a brief report. After you tell her of the theft, the chase and the capture she orders you all to find out how this happened and if the Pathfinders were specifically targeted and then put a stop to any more possible future thefts. She suggests you start by interrogating the goblin to find out what the creature knows, including who she works for, and why she was robbing the lodge.
Leepo Toggenburg |
Leepo thanks Joadric and puts on the necklace (assuming no one objects).
Did we keep the potions to? If so, I will ask Joadric what they are before leaving...
After making the report, she says "OK, gang, let's find a quiet place to talk to this lass again and see what she knows."
Gurda Kilgar |
"I defer to you silver tongue devils to extract any information from the goblin. I will add should we not at least giver her the skull, see what it means, to try and get her more friendly?"
Jhon Doe |
I don´t know enought about goblins, neither I was very interested.
I can offer you a little help when you talk with the goblin, Xoricon. But I´ll prefer if you lead the conversation, as I´m not used to sweet words and have to resort to my natural charm
qwerty71 |
@Leepo- Joadric tells you to keep the potions, they are Cure Light Wound potions, two of them.
Whenever the goblin sees the skull or her backpack with the skull in it she fidgets relentlessly.
Leepo Toggenburg |
Leepo, not necessarily skilled in interrogations, likes to talk, so she starts.
"OK, missy. Let's calm down, and you will get your bag and your prize. But first, we want you to talk to us. Let's start simply - what is your name?"
Assuming she answers...
"Good, see that is not so hard is it. Now, are you stealing for yourself, or are there others? I get the feeling you are not working alone - in fact, perhaps this wasn't even your idea? If you need help, we can help you. Just tell us your story."
Xoricon Quickblade |
Kn Local: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Xoricon snaps his finger and a light comes into his eyes, as he remembers a scrap of lore about goblins. "Ekkie, my dear, you must be hungry from all that scampering about, yes? Would you like some food?"
Leepo Toggenburg |
Just read back through the posts, and I completely forgot we had some names. Since the skull is not magical, and it sounded like we were willing...
Leepo pulls out the skull, and puts it in front of the goblin. "Ekkie - is that your name? And this is Plarg? A friend of yours? We just need some answers, Ekkie, so that we can help."
Maybe giving back the skull will help open her up.
Jhon Doe |
Well Ekie, we have done some exercise and now you have your skull. And my friend is going to give you some food if you want.
Let´s talk a little about what are you doing here as we eat, yes?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
qwerty71 |
"Plarg, the nasty longshanks are going to eat us. Yes, they are! See how they're looking at us with their beady little eyes. I know you'll protect me Plarg. Plarg says I'm poisonous and full of disease, and if you eat me, you'll die!" Ekkie says to the skull while looking at you all menacingly...
will need a higher diplomacy roll to change her attitude
Theleb Ka'arna |
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
"Ok ... I don't want to die, so why don't you help us out here a little and everybody gets to live awhile longer."
qwerty71 |
After a few attempts of calming her down, giving her back her skull and generally being nice to her Ekkie starts to talk rapidly...
"Even out in the swamp, we heard stories about the Nightsoil Marauders-a gang of goblins in the longshanks city...Shhhsh Plarg Ekkie is talking... When Murg tried to bite off my ear-again!-I left the swamp and came to the city to join up....no Plarg no horse meat now...I met some other goblins outside the city and they sneaked me inside. They took me through the smelly tunnels and made me wait outside their lair. An important-looking goblin with a big, dangly-...Plarg it is my story i tell it...- hat came out and stared at me. He said his name was Versevosh, Versaceposh, Versovosh....Plarg says it was Versevosh. I thought he was the boss, but he said that the big boss is much scarier than him. Versevosh said rude things about me and my tribe and said I'd have to prove myself if I wanted to join the gang...he said Plarg could join tooo... He said I'd have to steal shiny things from a tribe of longshanks in the city. He showed me drawings of what to look for....See it not Ekkie fault Ekkie got caught or things were missing..."
Xoricon Quickblade |
"Ekkie, can you tell us where you met the Nightsoil Marauders? Where they go in the city? We need to know so we can keep you safe from them," says Xoricon. "You are in a safe place right now."
qwerty71 |
Looking down at her feet Ekkie avoids eye contact with the lot of you. She appears to hear something and looks at the skull gazing inot its eyes for a few seconds and then moves the skull to look at each of you in turn. It appears she is having some sort of silent conversation with the skull. She finally turns back to you all and says...
"The other goblins showed me the way through the smelly tunnels to the horse-killing place. I like that place, 'cause they cut up horses there and you can see their insides and I got lots of dead horse to eat. The goblins said to steal from the big house then go back to the horse-killing place, then they ran off. It was almost sunrise and I could hear longshanks so I hid. Later I sneaked up to the big house and took some shiny things from the small houses, but then you caught me."
Leepo Toggenburg |
"Thank you, Ekkie."
Leepo looks at the others. "Well, it sounds to me like there may be a whole big conspiracy to steal from the "longshanks" - I expect we should investigate this further. Anyone up for sewer diving?"
Xoricon Quickblade |
"Yes, Ekkie will need to hide for a while. Ekkie, thank you for being honest. Ekkie, this is a big city. Stealing can get you hurt or killed. We're going to get you some food and a place to stay, and then you will have to figure out what to do."
Xoricon looks at Leepo. "Well, we have a slaughterhouse and a sewer. Eurgh. Remember that goblins see in the dark. If it were daytime, it would be easier. Let's grab a bite and three for Ekkie here, and then try to keep it in our stomachs while we explore the blasted cloaca of this town."
qwerty71 |
The team informs the Pathfinder leaders at the lodge what they discovered and get the OK to resolve the issue as best they see fit as long as it is in favor of the Society.
where does the team head to next?
Leepo Toggenburg |
"It seems to me that the slaughterhouse is the place to go, but I wonder if they will see us coming. Much as I hate the idea, I think we should have Ekkie show us the sewer entrance, because it may be less guarded."
Jhon Doe |
Your words make sense Leepo, but sewers?
They´re not my favorite place
Even as Jhon complaints about the destination, he starts to prepare himself for the journey.
Theleb Ka'arna |
"So ... I suppose the sewers do make sense."
qwerty71 |
"If you let Ekkie and Plarg leave outside the city Ekkie will guide you to the bad spot where bad people can be find. The Nightsoil baddies. Ekkie and Plarg can get you there but you promise to let us leave the city."
Leepo Toggenburg |
I think we can let the goblin go after, don't you think?
Jhon Doe |
I´ll promise you that
And who knows, maybe I´ll even keep the promise
Gurda Kilgar |
"Should we walk around with a goblin in broad daylight? Don't know what the laws are for goblins. Just do not want to arouse suspicion with the Nightsoil Marauders if they see Ekkie leading us."
Leepo Toggenburg |
"Good idea, Gurda! We should put her in a disguise."
Theleb Ka'arna |
"Just put a chain around her neck and give me the other end. Nobody will give that a second glance.
Theleb Ka'arna |
"I guess that would work ... "
Jhon Doe |
Well, you´ll have to put a gag on his mouth, to avoid unwanted sounds

Following Ekkie's directions, you all head to the Mariska Knackery in Magnimar's Lowcleft district. The knackery stands on the northern edge of the district, two blocks west of the Matador's Lodge. Based on your knowledge of the city and what you can pick up in a short amount of time you know that lame or old horses, as well as animals and beasts maimed or used up in events at the Serpent's Run arena or the Matador's Lodge, are brought to the knackery to be slaughtered and dismembered, and their meat and other remains are sold off.
As you approach the Knackery you notice the burned remains of a large
shed off to one side of the main building
There is a middle aged and plum male working at the site. Ekkie points out that he is the longshank horse-killer...
Theleb Ka'arna |
Perception (Venom): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Familiar
Perception (Theleb): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"Where to now Ekkie?"
Jhon Doe |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
The goblins did that?
Jhon points the burned remains to the party and waits the goblin to answer.
Gurda Kilgar |
"Do we avoid talking to this man? He may have some information. He has horse meat, goblins like that stuff judging from the contents of Ekkies things. Maybe he has some sort of agreement. I could try to scare him into the information, but would rather a more silver tongued person try first."
Leepo Toggenburg |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
"I think we continue on to the external entrance."
