Reesa begins to smack herself after succumbing to the spell while Vernath is sent back home for fear of harming others...everything is moot since the Tumbler slices the shadowy foe to death or into a retreat... hard to tell... and the figure disappears...the rest of the party hold down those affected until the spell wears off...

Looking around the room the group finds painted walls of activity and what can only be coded words in poems...

Appraise DC 20:

By examining a holy symbol of Shizuru on the ground near a statue you determine that it was made from silver, and you discern its construction indicates it was designed for use as part of a holy ritual.

Heal DC 20:

Looking over the artwork reveals the previous deceased samurai bodies died in a burst of holy energy.

Engineering DC 20:

Looking over the artwork and wall markings reveals what you initially thought was simple erosion on the walls of the hero’s tomb is in fact the result of a concentrated burst of holy energy.

Perception DC 20:

You notice a discarded piece of vellum in the corner of one of the rooms. The vellum is fragile but provides a partial account of the samurai’s holy ritual.

Perception DC 25:

You notice a small cubbyhole near the ceiling in this room behind one of the statues, with a bronze object peeking out of it. A safe and steady climb easily retrieves the object. The bronze object is an embossed prayer to Shizuru. The prayer is a warrior’s plea, asking for strength and courage when facing the final moments of life.

INT check DC 12:

In order to seal away a particularly troubling pocket of necromantic energy, one of the Yohanatotsu sisters performed a powerful holy ritual, sacrificing her own life to fuel a ward. The ward held for centuries, but recent orcish raiders disrupted it, threatening to unleash the necromantic force once again. Repeating the ritual in the first tomb discovered (star on map) should restore the ward over the negative energy.

I believe some of those rolls were 'aid' rolls so you all would know enough with success in appraise, heal and both perceptions without going to the nearest town... in Ustalav...in a barren and desolate location...

The party gleans enough information about the ritual to purify the site and restore the ward. The conduct the ritual take any last notes regarding the crypt and begin the 6 day journey back to report to VC Besnik in Lastwall.

Besnik listens to the retelling of the adventure and says, “I knew you would triumph! Just goes to show I picked the right pathfinders to seek out adventure while unknown dangers lurked. There could have been almost anything there! Go and rest while I put our report together for the Ten. Surely, this addition to the Chronicles will put Uscalin Lodge on the map."

“Though I may joke about the crusaders, they play a vital part in the service of good. You, too, have done important work today. You have removed a pressing danger and helped the spirit of an ancient hero find rest. Well done, Pathfinders. I hope you are as proud of yourselves as I am of you.”
