Theren Thornvale
Theren handily slices one of the imps in twain with his keen elven blade.
Niccan Tol
"Kill it!"
Niccan jabs at the devil, without any rear thought of hurting it but possibly distracting it for Kit'Arr, providing flanking.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 LOL!
Elemental attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

"I need to find some material that will hurt these things if they are going to keep popping up. Maybe get some arrows made out of the stuff. Probably silver or cold iron, do you know?" Cuthalian wonders as he lets off another pair of arrows into the wounded one. (if the first arrow finishes it off he shoots at the second lemure.)

Niccan Tol
"Good aligned, probably from a spell. Or silver. Cold iron works on demons and fey."
Or, for arrows.... Holy weapon balm
Kit'Arr
Kit takes a few slashes with her claws at the imp, one finally landing hot, as her body fights off the poison

Downstairs
Having trouble anticipating the nearly-mindless devils, Jack can not seem to find the right angle of attack. Fortunately, Cuthalian puts the wounded one down and injures the other with a pair of well-placed arrows. The lemure lashes out at Jack in response to the arrow, and by sheer luck manages to leave a nasty gash across his chest. Jack takes 4 slashing.
Upstairs
The elven curve blade neatly bisects one of the imps, spraying black blood all over the upstairs landing. The remaining imp, nearly dead with it's natural rapid healing barely keeping it flying, no longer laughs. It rears back it's stinger, ready to deliver a haymaker blow to Niccan, venom glistening on the barb. Then Vegazi's third silver arrow catches the imp in the side of the head. It's eyes roll back and it flops to the floor.
Round Six
Everyone is up! Kit only needed one save to stop the poison. There are no threats upstairs, one active devil downstairs, and more noise from elsewhere in the Blissful Badger...
Theren Thornvale
Theren let's the anti-devil rage pass over him for a moment and follows the sounds of trouble down the stairs.
guess better move speed is a benefit of not having armor on.
Cuthalian

”Jack, focus on defending and we’ll just porcupine these things.” by means of suggesting Jack fight defensively.

Round 6
With Cuthalian's suggestion, Jack goes full defensive; as much as he can in underwear and holding a longsword. (+4 to his measley AC at this point)
Niccan Tol
Seeing the trouble here handled, but noise downstairs, Niccan orders the elemental downstairs and tries to follow. "Go downstairs. Destroy the devils!"
The elemental of course flies and moves much faster than he does....
The elemental flies down and overhead past everyone to flank the devil and attacks.
Don't know how tall the devil is but I assume it would draw an AoO. AC14
Attack w/ flanking: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
orangeclaw AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
orangeclaw AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The sounds of a half dozen feet tromping down the stairs masks the noises of the nearly mindless devil. It lashes out at the elemental when it flies past, managing to leave a nasty scratch as it moves around behind the lemure.
The lemure's efforts against Jack do not go as well as with the elemental, but the same can be said for Cuthalain's attacks.
Round Seven
Everyone is up!

"I hate these things," Cuthalian says as he releases two more arrows.

Theren slides past his comrades in the cramped hallway. Healing himself of his fatigue, he slashes at the hideous blorb before him. "Ugh! What is that?!"
Move 25', probably provoking an AoO. LoH on self as Swift action. Rage as free action. Standard action to attack.

Theren Thornvale
I think she said she double moves.
Kit'Arr
correct
Kit'Arr
that I did not know
The feline takes a quick movement, and then as part of it, takes a swipe at the enemy, but with the amount of bodies, she can't land a hit

Damage w/PBS: 3d8 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) + 3 + 3 = 12
Theren's blade slices open the devil's back, causing it to spin about in response to the pain. This gives Vegazi's the perfect opening, as she hurries down the stairs to stand behind Cuthalian and fires another silver arrow to finish the devil off.
For a moment, the building is silent, then the sound of shattering glass and distant thumps remind everyone the whole building has become infested with infernal invaders.
Round Eight
Everyone is up. Note the map has been updated and there are now visible critters to the right!
Niccan Tol
Hearing the noises Niccan pushes forward. He calls to the elemental, "That way. Kill any devil over there. I'll follow."
It's flying movement speed is 100'. It flies out and attacks.
Attack & damage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 211d4 + 1d3 ⇒ (4) + (2) = 6 The d4 is slam. d3 electric.
Theren Thornvale
With sword dripping demonic ichor, Theren moves after the noise.
End Rage. Move 2x.
Cuthalian
|
Cuthalian makes note to check with Vegazi to see what kind of arrowheads she is using on these things. In the meantime, he hustles to keep up with the others.
Kit'Arr
Kit too keeps pace with the others, not wanting to say she was sleeping on the job
DM Dickie
gaavblu w/charge: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The group, including Vegazi, hurries down the hall to the taproom. Tables and chairs have been knocked around, and here and there mugs and flagons lie damaged on the floor. To the south, Isald Forgemore shouts at someone or something to, "Go on, get! Oh, shoot, now look what ya done!" By now the rest of the tavern and inn has been evacuated, but the owner remains and seems to be holding her own so far.
A pair of gaavs flutter about the rafters looking for new victims to harass. One is shocked by the sudden appearance of the zippy flying elemental. Then the gaav is literally shocked by the elemental, eliciting a howl of pain from the small devil. It tries to stab back with it's spear, but the elemental easily avoids the attack.
The other gaav flies at top speed towards the half-elf with it's spear pointed straight at the paladin's center-mass. He is able to turn away at the last moment, and only receives a flesh-wound. Theren takes 3 piercing damage.
Round Nine
Everyone is up! Yeah, quite the long battle scene. It was one of the longest continuous combats I've had in PF when I ran this in a live game.
Theren Thornvale
Theren swings his blade at the devil, but his righteous rage has left him somewhat fatigued...
ECB (Fatigued): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 1 = 7
S Dam: 1d10 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 1 = 6
Niccan Tol
Niccan continues moving ahead, trying to determine how much battle they still had ahead. Judging by the sounds he casts a bless to help his side of the battle.
+1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear
The elemental continues attacking the devil in front of him.
Attack & damage: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 121d4 + 1d3 ⇒ (3) + (3) = 6 The d4 is slam. d3 electric.
Jack Zaphaelson
Round 9
Jack continues to double move toward the kitchens, passing Theren's melee (and triggering an AoO).
Kit'Arr
Kit on the other paw, does a slide past the attack to get behind it to deliver a claw slash

"This was bold action sending little monsters into town. There must be a reason." Cuthalian says voicing his thoughts as he launches a pair of arrows at the nearest flying pest (targeting the little demon fighting Theren).

DM Dickie
Damage w/PBS: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 = 10
gaavred: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
The gaav who speared Theren deflects the paladin's clumsy slash. The fatigue seems to really be cutting into his accuracy. Kit'Arr deftly slips by and around the gaav who speared Theren, easily avoiding getting caught up in the skirmish. The gaav is totally focused on the half-elf and doesn't even realize the trouble the feline presents until her claw rakes across it's throat. It grabs at the wounds and drops to the ground, it's devil blood rapidly bleeding out of the open wound.
The remaining devil, hovering about ten feet in the air near the rafters, manages to avoid being shocked again by Niccan's elemental, but is less lucky when Cuthalian puts a pair of arrows through it's leathery wings. The arrows do not cause significant wounds, but they add to the injuries it has already sustained.
Vegazie hustles foward, launching an arrow with perfect aim into the still-flying devil's chest, but her silver arrow does not seem to penetrate as deeply as it probably should have. "Oh! No silver these?" she asks in surprise.
Round Ten
Everyone is up! Jack can't quite see what's happening in the kitchen from his angle, but he does hear a little banging around and swearing in dwarven.
Theren Thornvale
With the devil dealt with Theren moves on. At least they are efficiently working their way through the monsters.
Move 2x.
Jack Zaphaelson
Round 10
Jack rounds the bend to check on the cursing dwarf. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
DM Dickie
Jack and Theren round the corner in time to see Isald standing in the kitchen using her apron to try and beat out a small grease fire left behind by a spilled stew potopened. She does not have control over it yet.
I don't typically like to interrupt combat rounds with new information, but it seemed natural to do so there. Kit, Cuth, and Nic are still up in round 10!
Kit'Arr
"Nice try..." she smirks as she heads and goes up the rafters
double move and has a climb speed
Niccan Tol
Niccan continues to "hustle" looking for enemies. Spotting his elemental he calls out in Auran, "Kill that devil! Good job!"
The elemental continues attacking the devil in front of him.
Attack & damage: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 121d4 + 1d3 ⇒ (1) + (2) = 3 That missed last time....
Cuthalian

Cuthalian moves around the corner to get a better shot and let's fly at the remaining winged menace.
CLB, PBS: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 1 = 20

Jack and Theren round the corner in time to see Isald standing in the kitchen using her apron to try and beat out a small grease fire left behind by a spilled stew pot opened. She does not have control over it yet.
Intelligence: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Poo!
Jack thought he was saving the dwarf innkepper from another devil attack, but it was just a normal fire.Killing all the devil invaders won't mean anything if the whole inn burns down, the oracle thought.
DM Dickie
Damage w/PBS: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8
FireRedSpread: 1d5 ⇒ 5
Vegazi moves to be in optimal range for her long bow and takes careful aim, onlyh to realize she was about to fire one of her remaining silver arrows at something that did not seem to care. She pulls rushes to pull a normal arrows free but the flustered fumbling means her shot goes wide. Cuthalian's arrow strikes true, however the devil shrugs the mundane ammunition's effects off.
Around the corner, Jack and Theren watch as the grease fire quickly spreads through the kitchen! Isald clenches her jaw and looks around the kitchen for something to suppress the fire. "What's that lad? I ain't speakin' whatever that is! Just help put out that fire! Oh! First them there devil-blobs head downstairs, then those orcs knocking over the pot! What next?"
Round Eleven
Everyone is up!
You should see two "grease fire" tokens on the Roll20 map. For targeting purposes I've added colored dots to them. The original square that is on fire (the red token) is the origin and attempting to use water on that will cause it to spread rapidly as the water displaces the grease. Some other method of extinguishing that will need to be attempted. Fully extinguishing a square other than the red/origin fire requires a DC 10 Survival check (can be attempted untrained), or 1 full gallon of water (no check needed).
Kit'Arr
Now that she was next to it, she takes a swipe at it with her claw
Claw: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

The half-naked oracle smirks.
Jack casts create water over the one of the (red) grease fires.
Cuthalian

Cuthalian finds his position well suited for shooting the little winged beast and so lets fly with a pair of arrows.

CLB dmg, PBS, RS: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7
Niccan Tol
Niccan hears activity in the kitchen, and spell casting. Knowing the spell as it is one he can cast he wonders about it. Not a combat spell after all....
Seeing what is happening he calls out, "Don't create water on an oil fire! It'll spread it like a small fireball!" He doesn't speak Celestial.
The elemental continues it's attacks on the devil.
Attack & damage: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 91d4 + 1d3 ⇒ (2) + (3) = 5 And another miss!

Jack's Player knows this, but Jack the Character does not. Plus, the DM said the fire could be extinguished with water; so Jack's player just going ahead with the options given.
