Taliesin looks into the pool of water.
"This is safe to drink. It's pure water kept going by a few spells. What's this? Another aura at the bottom...something else is magical in there."

"Hmm, more magic, but what is it?" Qualif mutters towards himself. Concentrating on the aura, he takes his time, making sure as to what this magic could be.

Spellcraft 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
"Create Water and Purify Food and Drink are the spells. That means that water should be safe for anyone who enters the pool. And the others are right. There is another aura down there. Anyone able to swim?"

Reesa decides to wait for The Tumbler to grab the weapon, just in case she was mistaken. "Tumbler, I'm 99% sure that there is no problem with getting that weapon out of the water. Safe as can be," she smiles sweetly, while still not reaching her own arm into the water.

GM Qwerty |

The tumbler mans up and then jumps into the pool of water finding it not as deep as believed since it only comes up to his waist or a humans knee. He then reaches down and brings up an ornate sword with an ancient design. The group checks the sword out and determines the sword is a +1 undead bane longsword.

![]() |

"KA Kaw, can you use the blade? If we find more undead, that'll come in very handy.". Reesa points toward the north, indicating that was her preference to continue down.

Verna'th |

"Going north, going north! The party is going north!" Head tilting from side to side, the eidolon follows the group with her tail playfully swishing from side to side.

GM Qwerty |

The group travels north and comes to a large open room. Coiled in the eastern alcove is the statue of a cobra-like snake with a contemplative humanoid face. Parts of the statue have crumbled and fallen to the ground, though enough detail remains to see sadness in the creature’s stony eyes.
you recognize the statue as a depiction of Slassalla, a guardian naga who acted as magical council to the Knights of Ozem during the Shining Crusade. Historians debate just how influential she was in persuading them to turn the Whispering Tyrant’s fortress into his prison.

![]() |

Reesa keeps her distance from the spooky statue, having no idea what it might be.

Taliesin looks at the statue in the alcove.
"I am not sure why that seems familiar, but I'm drawing a blank. I need to study more," she says.

"The look on that statue is frightening, but its eyes.... They're full of melancholy," Qualif mutters as he looks at the statue. "Maybe a historian at the lodge would hold a better idea as to what or who this is, so I'll want to keep the location of this site on hand when we get back."

![]() |

The Tumbler taps his foot violently and nervously while the more magicky and knowledgeable party members do their thing.
He does check the statue quickly for traps, though.

The group manages to find nothing of use in the current room with the odd statue. They determine it is not magical but does have some historical importance that escapes their memories. While searching in this room, however, they do hear a collection of voices in the next room down the stairs.
rough female voice"Leave me alone as I figure this out!"
male voice"I thought I heard someone fighting over here...we are not alone..."
different male voice"dont bother her as she figures out the ritual (unintelligible)..."
different male voice"of course you arent alone... i am here with you..."

"Shhh!" Taliesin whispers. "I hear it, too. Does anyone know which language that is? Whatever it is, we should prepare for the worst," she says as she hefts her banner.

Taliesin listens to the report of what is ahead.
"Well, we have two options. Fight our way through, or talk our way through. I might be able to get them to let us pass," she suggests. "I have a way with people. But these are orcs, so if everyone wants to kill first, ask questions later...I guess we could do that, too."

Guilford looks up from the book he's been reading. He has a bad habit of absently pulling one out of his handy haversack on occasion, sometimes even in dangerous places.
He blinks a couple of times and then straightens his glasses.
"Yes, let's try to speak with them first. I do dislike bloodshed, and they may prove indifferent to our approach."

![]() |

Taliesin bites her lip as she looks at the assembled orcs and says "Here goes nothing."
Stepping into the light, she says "Greetings, gentlemen!" as if addressing nobles at court. "I am Taliesin Staccato, bard and explorer! I am confident there is room here for both of us to explore. I have some of my friends here with me. Perhaps we could share notes?"

We claim this fort!" the pink orc yells out in anger and the bard now believes the orc speaking is indeed a female. She also believes her beautifully crafted speech fell on deaf ears. She feels the orcs will attack soon and are just waiting for something to happen first...

The Tumbler would wait to see if a Haste come from either of the casters. Either way, he would then act before the enemies.
