"I haven't seen one of these things before sir." the priest says to Lucien..."It seems friendly so far. As I was saying before.. he starts to get solemn. "It happened 30 years ago and was a terrible tragedy. We, all of us, allowed fear and division to triumph over mercy and love. A group of worshipers of the hag goddess,” Bertinard swallows and shakes his head, “Ah, Hell, we have her attention anyway. Gyronna. A group of worshipers of Gyronna attacked our village. They used
illusions to walk among us and tore us apart. They framed us for
betrayal and murder, and in the end, we turned against each other,
hands full of blades and hearts full of spite. I felt the poison that
had taken hold here gnawing at my faith, but knew deep down that
something was terribly wrong, and with the help of my lantern, I
revealed the truth behind their disguises. And, well, I’m not proud
of this, but I led the charge against them. I let rage take over. I cried
for their blood, for their hanging. When it was over, I followed their
tracks back to their home, dropped their bodies within it, and set
the whole mess ablaze. I may have put a stop to the threat, but
in so doing, I succumbed to their influence nonetheless. However,
Shelyn forgives me, and I have forgiven myself. What happened
here just has to be tied to those hag cultists somehow. I’ll tell you
where I left their bodies. Please, Rosehaven doesn’t deserve to go
through that nightmare again. Help us.” He gives you directions to the area.
how am I doing so far? this is just my 2nd time GMing Pbp
please add your token to the bottom right side of the swamp map.. This assumes you follow the directions

Lucien notes the directions and frowns at the mention of a swamp, looking down at his finely tailored Leather pointed boots and Dark velvet trousers and envisaging the mess it will cause. With a final dark look at the Priest, Lucien turns his back and begins to set off in the direction of the swamp.
"Once we are done here priest you will help us find our contact. Typical peon behaviour to act rashly and not think of the consequences, no wonder our home has rotted away as it has." turning to Tinker he adds "Is the creature coming with us to the swamp?"
Placed everyone on the Swamp map, really enjoying the Gam Qstor, keep up the good work ^^

"The name is "Feather Seed", not "creature" and yes, it looks like Feather Seed will be joining us. Gyronna? hum." Tinker said as he thought a bit.
"Rosehaven will be avenged." he added in a whisper with the little bit he had heard about the cult.

"Someone had better apologise for ruining my boots...", Celestin grouches as they near the swamp. Perhaps I should learn that cleaning spell that my brother is always harping on about?
Good game so far. I've had bad experiences with pbp games, but you're doing great!

![]() |

Should we scout a little ahead? - says Reingard, being himself and Petunia a lot more comfortable in the wild than his companions. He wouldn't admit, but he even enjoyed being dirty.

![]() |

Lucien turns to Reingard and gestures with his arm in a clear 'after you' motion. "If you wish too, be my guest. Just make sure that neither you or your beast get covered in filth..." he replies. After the hunter sets off, he checks his blade's edge and then carefully follows, trying his best to avoid the worst of the swamp.

Drawing his rapier, Tinker looked around to see if there was anything out of place. "Lets check out the wooden hut, looks like it would be a place that someone or something might stay." he said as he slipped forward,

Then he begins muttering to himself, Stop worrying cat. Is not really real swamp. Look youse. Stones not even sinking.
If nothing happens or no one tells him otherwise, he will poke around in the hut. Just being curious and looking for whatever.

Following behind the others, Lucien freezes as they check the hut, waiting for something to burst forth. Seeing that none of them scream or fall over, the Noble moves closer to inspect the hut, cursing as he feels his boots sink into mud and disgusting water. Standing at the entrance he calls forth a simple spell, cautious that things are not what they seem.

I guess we're done here, guys. Let's get moving. - says the Inquisitor, before turning to Bertinard - What hag cult are you talking about?
While he scouts around the place, he signs to Petunia to do the same. Her Scent ability gives her a small extra edge, but he doesn't think they'd find much anyway.

Sure they had missed something, Lucien nevertheless shrugs and stands up using a minor cantrip to clean the gathered mud and dust from his clothes. Knowing it to be a futile effort, it makes him feel better anyway.
"With this amount of money I am surprised it hasn't yet been ransacked. he comments dryly.
With Sword drawn he follows Valyssa towards the ruins and looks around.
"Tinker, does the creature know anything about this ruins?" he asks.

"Once again Lucien, please refer to the Leshy as "Feather Seed" and not "the creature"." Tinker asked in a stern voice.
Looking around the area, Tinker shook his head. "They might be waiting in ambush since they might have heard us approach." he said, looking to see if there is any sign of recent habitation, like the cot or meal was still warm.

Once again the arrogant Noble seems to ignore the miffed Tinker as they move towards the ruins. Spying the walking bones from inside, he looks down at the edge of his fine blade with a frown and a sigh.
"This better not dull my blade... he says softly as he moves closer to the ruined gatehouse.

I thought the bad guys were next. Reingard was the only one bolded.

Reingard enlarges himself, feeling the raging song get him even stronger, and attacks the skeleton in front of him with his morningstar.

Valyssa now has Fast Healing 2 going on her through her song from Skald's Vigor.

Combat over
Reingard smashes through the last two skeletons as the undead collapses into pieces in the swamp. The priest and Feather seed survey the scene.
Tinker looks around and sees a metal box near one side of the ruins.
The priest speaks up addressing the party "A huge thanks to you. The evil in this area has been put down. I feel the town is safe."
Feather Seed adds in Sylvan. "Yes...thank you for defeating the evil"
Don't forget your primary mission to the town :)

![]() |

"Ah, yes! You think the danger has passed? I have to agree, I can sense nothing here."
Turning to the priest, he asks: "We have some questions for you, about a woman that lived here..."
Does anyone remember her name?

![]() |

"As my short friend claims- we seek the one called Armeline. We with to have words with her. Kind words in fact. An apology of sorts from our employers."
i think that is what we came for

Tinker finds a wand a potion and a bottle in the box. you can take 20 to open it, no traps
Bertinard speaks up "Armeline spends much of her time hunting and reading books from her library but is a valued member of the town. She's given meat from her hunts to the less fortunate in town. I think she's a fine woman. I can show you her home in town."
heading back now?

![]() |

Lucien's eyes narrow, it all seemed too easy, such an elaborate ritual and only a few raised dead to show for it? This place was certainly strange and there were little no answers coming forth. Turning to Tinker, the noble sweeps their hand over the Box's contents in a hope of identifying them.

He then Speaks to the Investigator, "What does your creature have to say about this 'evil' here. A few skeletons is not a great deal after all and there were many more marks on the map." it is clear he either has not listened to Tinker's rebukes, or simply not cared. "Or should we abandon this trekking in favour of our true purpose?"

![]() |

Lucien shrugs elegantly and starts to lead the way from the swamp, glad to be out of this slime and on to solid ground, albeit it probably just as filthy.
"If the 'evil' was here then it may be in town, we have more to investigate and our charge. Let us ensure they are safe before we continue on with this." he suggests, indicating the way with his drawn blade.
