"We each got to play hero today. She'll be fine, but the ship is taking a beating. I'll get her out of here, but she mumbled soemthing about the desk draw in the captains room being locked, but having something inside. Not sure what it is or if it's worth it, but should be safe if you want to go below and finish the job for her."

"Alright, on the way!" Tony scampers off seeking the captain's cabin.
Is it still there?

whoops! Meant for the kraken question to be in ooc. Please strike that comment from the record (or feel free to use it as more fuel for Gelik)

On the way, Tony keeps a sharp eye out for the basic tools we're going to need; axes, saws, etc.

Finding no intact long lengths of rope, but plenty of short bits and pieces, Mundin secures Shisa and, after briefing young Tony, makes his way carefully back across the cliff-face to the beach. By the time he's carrying the half-elf towards the waiting group he can hear Gelik regaling them all with one of his tales...

'... and then he uttered the fateful words - "Unleash the kraken!" - and all those in attendence, no matter that they were the gods themselves, trembled at both his great anger, and at the terrible consequences of his wrathful orders...'

His Laurence Olivier is uncanny! ;)

Following Ishirou's glance as the Tian man spots the returning dwarf, Gelik trails off his story and hurries over to examine Shisa,

'Poison?' he askes, glancing up at Mundin, but then shakes his head as he lays his hands on Shisa's wounds and mutters arcane words, 'Doesn't matter... I don't have the power to cure that sort of injury anyway - only the basic cuts and bruises.'

Shisa regains 9 Hit Points (up to her max., naturally), and looses up to 9 points of non-lethal damage if she had any. Ability Score damage doesn't get cured though.

On the wreck...

... Making his way into the ripped-out bowels of the ship (okay... horrible turn of phrase, sorry...) Tony's attention is distracted by the ominous creaking and groaning of the wreck as it lists under the battering it's getting. Leaks have sprung up everywhere, and more seem to burst through with every step he takes. Still, he manages to find the captain's cabin, including the footlocker Shisa mentioned, and the desk with the one drawer still locked. (He could also search the brig, galley, larder, and supply room... if he feels he's got the time...)

(Still) in the jungle...

Has Bandy decided on what he'll be doing whilst our wizard gets close to the local wildlife?

Shisa's eyes slowly flutter open as the warmth of Gelik's healing flows through her. She looks around, a bit disoriented, noticing the faces of those around her. She sits up slowly, the world spinning as her body slowly recovers. "Looks like I owe you a big one Mundin. Sorry."

She looks over at the gnome. "Thank you Master Gelik. Perhaps I'll share a tale of kraken spawn with you later." She reaches over to ruffle his hair again, but simply places her hand on his shoulder in thanks.

"Wait.. wasn't Tony here with us?" She looks around, vaguely remembering seeing him as she faded in and out of sleep, but not remembering exactly where she was at the time.

"He was headed towards the ship the last I saw of him, perchance either of you could return to assist him, now that you are free of mortal danger. But.....what exactly happened in there?" Aerodus asks, his disposition immediately improving at the thought of monsters to be slain and trials to overcome.

Aerodus Whiteblade wrote:

Standing slowly and checking her balance, Shisa looks over at Aerodus. "Well, I had gone down below while Mundin secured the rope and you and Tony were coming," she begins and gives a quick account of their encounter with the kraken spawn. She stops suddenly and raises an eyebrow. "Aerodus, why are you all wet?"

Male Human Paladin 2

"There's no time to talk about such things!" Replies the paladin, obviously flustered: "The nobleman could be in danger this very minute! Go back and provide him aid!"

Aerodus will make an attempt even so far as to push Shisa/Mundin in the direction of the ship.

"We will still be here, awaiting your or the jungle parties return, now off with you!"

Misdirection is not an evil act!

Shisa raises an eyebrow at the young knight and sidesteps him to look around. Spotting Jask, she reaches down to her belt to pull the key ring from where she'd secured it.

Stepping over to the shackled man, she casts a glance over her shoulder, "First, we relieve him of these chains if we can. We'll need all the help we can get.

She squats down next to Jask and begins trying the keys. "Hopefully, one of these will work. Can you climb Jask?" she asks. "If so, we'll need your help on the ship to carry back as much as we can."

Tony ducks below and makes his way to the Captain's cabin, the groaning and shuddering of the ship filling him with foreboding. Still he finds it with no problem. Carefully skirting the open hole, he opens the footlocker and secures its interesting contents in his map case.

After that, he turns his attention to the locked desk drawer. Curious, and hoping there is some useful items so closely guarded, he pulls his Swordbreaker dagger and tries to pry it open.
Strength check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
But frustrated by the stubborn drawer, Tony leaves off as the ship shudders again. There's just no time to do a proper job.
But he can't leave just yet. He had to take at the very least a fast look through the Galley, pantry and storroom. This might be their only opportunity, and Gelik's talk of their isolation had him worried. The right tools might make the difference between survival and a miserable lingering death.
Tony takes out his lamp and strikes it alight. Carefully he made is way deeper into the bowels of the wreck...

Tony, this is what was left in the footlocker (to save both you and ProfPotts time scrolling back): It contains what appear to be sea charts, along with an oilskin-bound book which, at a glance, looks like it's the captain's log, a well-maintained but battered-looking suit of leather armour (looks to be for a medium-sized male), two stoppered clay vials which sound like they contain liquid.

male dwarf 2 weapon Fighter 1

As the paladin tries to hurry them along, Mundin shakes his head knowingly, but he does head back to the wreck. "Seems a dwarfs work is never done. let's just hope Tony doesn't need rescuing. If he does, I'll send for you Master whiteblade" Humming a tune, Mundin quickens his pace, incase the paladin tries to throw anything. He will climb back over to the ledge and down onto the wreck, calling out to see how Tony is doing.

"Hopefully, one of these will work. Can you climb Jask?.. If so, we'll need your help on the ship to carry back as much as we can."

Trying several of the keys, Shisa finally finds one which fits! Turning the key Shisa hears the manacles unlock with a clear 'click!'. Jask hurridly shakes the things off, rubs his wrists, then his shoulders, as a grin creeps across his dark face,

'Finally!' he exclaims, 'Oh Nethys and all the gods, that feels so good!'

Suddenly the former prisoner stands up and embraces Shisa, holding her tight for a moment before letting her go, backing away, and bowing, still sporting a large grin,

'Forgive me,' he offers, 'but freedom is the choicest of wines, and I feel I'm a little heady with the taste!'

Taking a deep breath, as if for the first time, Jask slowly turns as he takes in their island surroundings,

'The gods have granted me my life and my freedom, when both have so recently been in question. No man could ask more, yet...' he turns to face Shisa again to ask, '... the captain took certain of my belongings for safe keeping. Did you, perchance, find a holy symbol of the god Nethys? I also had a fine dagger, my good old leather armour, two potions of a curative variety, and a pouch for my various spell components... but the holy symbol is a sacred thing, and I feel the need to commune with my god, to offer thanks for my salvation!'

Pausing for a moment, Jask blinks, then shakes his head,

'Ah - again I crave forgiveness, I didn't answer your question! No, alsa, I've always been a man of knowledge and magic, rather than a man of physical action - I fear if the mighty paladin failed to scale the cliff then it would surely spell doom for the likes of me!'

On the ship...

Tony can fit the charts in his map case, but (obviously) not the other stuff. What you need is a good Mundin to carry stuff... ;)

By the time Mundin's back on the wreck and calling out for Tony, the latter has finished going through much of what's left of the ship.

Finding nothing of value left in the galley (or the brig for that matter), he has found a store of preserved rations in the larder (enough, he estimates, to feed one person for twenty-four days)... along with the body of the ship's cook! He doesn't look like he drowned, but it would take a skilled healer to identify how he did die.

Heading below decks, Mundin finds Tony by the door to the store room - the door's stuck or jammed shut, but it looks to be where the pseudo-kraken was trying to get in (before Shisa summoned it) and is badly damaged with deep scratches from the thing's claws, and splintered here and there from its attempts to just bash its way in.

That desk drawer still hasn't been opened. The footlocker is large, but a strong dwarven back could carry it across the cliff if it was tied on well. The stuck door is going to take some bashing to open (hardness 5, 3 Hit Points left if you want to hack at it, Break DC 21 if you want to boot it open). Apart from that (and the cook's corpse) there doesn't appear to be anything of value left on the wreck.

Shisa's eyebrows raise as Jask throws his arms around her and gives her a hug. The look of shock is soon replaced by a quiet laugh as he releases her and steps back apologizing. "No forgiveness needed Jask. I am glad to see you freed of your bonds for no man should ever taste of Chelaxian shackles.. ever."

She holds on to the shackles and separates the appropriate key from the ring, slipping it into a pouch as Jask continues to talk. She looks over at him for a bit as he rattles off a list of items taken from him. Her finger slip inside her pouch and pull out the symbol of Nethys. She looks at it a moment before speaking. "Elvish isn't it? But you're not an Elf nor even a half breed." She hands the symbol to Jask with a smile. "I thought this was important, and indeed it is. Here you are.. and here are some of your things."

She slips the pouch and dagger from her belt and hands them to Jask. "I am sorry, but the armor is still on the wreckage. Perhaps we can still salvage it."

She turns and walks to her pack and drops the shackles before emptying out her things next to them. She leaves the waterskin inside hoping to fill it from any ships stores remaining then slips it over her shoulders. "I shall go give the boys some help. Cayden knows they'll get into trouble without someone to watch over them." With a giggle, she turns and trots back to the cliff, going a bit slower than normal as her stamina has still not fully recovered.

Tony spots Mundin coming towards him as he sizes up the door to the storeroom.
"Mundin! You are a sight for sore eyes. Did you get Shisa back alright? I could use your help with this door."

"Strange thing, I found the cooks body in the pantry, along with some rations that could be useful. Can't tell how he died though..."

Life's a beach:

Jask reverently takes his holy symbol as Shisa offers it, muttering what seem to be prayers as he turns his eyes to the heavens and holds it to his chest for a few moments, before slipping it over his neck. He bows again as Shisa also returns his pouch and dagger,

'May the gods rain blessings down upon you, my angel of mercy,' he offers her, 'I am in you debt.'

'But as to your question,' he continues, 'I'm not of elvish blood, but merely a simple man who has chosen to worship knowledge... and truth... although the latter, as you have all seen, is want to get one in trouble...' he sighs, then - as Shisa heads off once more - turns to Aerodus, 'Now, sir paladin, let's help to patch you up a little more...'

Laying a gentle hand on Aerodus's shoulder, Jask clutches the black/white mask symbol around his neck and chants a few words - the young paladin feels a surge of warmth pass through him for a moment, then realises that the hurts of his battered and bruised body have lessened... (Aerodus gets healed for 5 Hit Points of damage)

In the stores, in the stores!:

Between them Tony and Mundin make short work of hacking, bashing, and generally splintering the supply room door in. Within they find a variety of tools... as well as the corpse of first mate Alton Devers! Alton's body lies slumped against the wall, still wearing his finely crafted studded leather armour and with that well-made shortsword of his clutched in a death grip in his hand. Like the cook it doesn't appear that Alton drowned... indeed his blood seems to have pooled and begun to run under the door the pair have just bashed in. However, it would take a skilled healer to identify what did kill him.

Supply room supplies: block and tackle, three large canvas sheets, two fishing nets, a grappling hook, two bullseye lanterns, twelve flasks of lantern oil, one-hundred and fifty feet long coil of hemp rope, and five shovels.

Tony peers at Deevers body thoughtfully, lamp held so as to see it more clearly.
"First the cook, now the First Mate. What in gods name happened while we were unconscious?"
Tony shakes his head sadly.
" Well, let's leave him for now and start getting the supplies out. Let's start with the smaller items and leave the biggest for last; and on the way back, I would like to see you work your dwarven magic on that last stuck drawer in the Captain's cabin. What say you Mundin?"
Tony grins at Mundin, despite the pounding clearly audible through the all to thin ships hull here.

Dropping lightly to the deck of the ship once again, Shisa pauses to catch her breath. She reaches up to move a stray strand of hair from her eyes and draws her rapier. She moves across the moving deck and back down below.

Hearing Tony's light hearted voice, she sheaths her sword and calls out. "Ok boys, I'm back. Where do you want me to start?" She heads into the galley to see if she can quickly find a left over bottle of rum or wine and a couple unbroken mugs while awaiting their reply.

Tony grins with delight, arms loaded with supplies.
"Shisa! Glad to see you up and about!"

Tony puts down his load, turning serious for a moment.
"Shisa, do you know anything of the healing arts? When we were searching, we came across a couple of things that were a little peculiar. We found the cook dead in the pantry and the First Mate dead in the storeroom. Both rooms were dry, so they couldn't have drowned. I was wondering if you could take a look and see if you can tell what happened to them. We left them alone for now."

Tony picks up his load again and moves up the ladderway.
"And we still have to open that stupid drawer!"

Mundin unfolds the canvas and loads it up with the fishing gear and some shovels. "How long as it been since the group went into the jungle?"

'I imagine they'll be some time yet, my young friend,' Jask replies, clapping Aerodus on the back as he does, 'we've no cause to worry yet.'

On the ship...

Examining the cook's body...

Heal DC 16:
The cook appears to have died of some sort of venom, injected by ophidian bites on his neck and shoulders - from a rather large serpent (Medium sized).

Examining Alton's body...

Heal DC 16:
The first mate sports two sets of wounds - several rapier wounds, although none appear deadly, and inflamed stings undoubtedly from the lobster-thing Shisa found trying to get into the storeroom where Alton's corpse now resides - it appears that the beast's poison is what finally did him in.

Smashing!

Failing to force the stubbord desk drawer, Mundin starts to pound away at it... and is rewarded with a distinct smashing sound! A variety of coloured liquids begin to seep from the drawer. After a while he's managed to destroy enough of the desk to access the drawer - it now contains the shattered remains of at least two bottles: one smells like it once held a rather fine brandy, whilst the other appears to have (pre-dwarf) contained a darkwood model of a ship - now destroyed. A leather satchel now contains only glass fragments and the last few traces of various liquids, all now mingling into a pungent alchemical stench as they evaporate uselessly. The only real salvagable thing in the drawer is a small metal coffer full of gold pieces (350gp all told... good luck finding somewhere to spend 'em!).

Shisa finds nothing else worth salvaging in the galley or anywhere else and, as the trio load-up with the last of the supplies they have managed to find (and not destroy) the ship shudders, slips suddenly down its rocky perch (causing those aboard to loose their footing for the moment), and a large section of the remaining hull ruptures, letting water pour in in a powerful blast! Heading out on deck the small group are relieved to see that the rope they secured earlier is still within reach... just... but likely not for much longer...

Shisa heads to examine the bodies as the ship gives another shudder.

Examine cook: Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Not finding anything she could see out of the ordinary, she heads to check the first mate:

Examine Alton: Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Other than the cuts and other obvious signs of a struggle, she is not able to determine anything there as well.

The ship shudders again and seems to shift slightly. "Well, time to get off this wreck." With a quick glance around, she heads briskly up the stairs and to the rope. The ship shakes violently as her hands close on the rope, almost causing her to loose her balance.

If no one has picked up Alton's short sword, she will ensure that it and it's sheath are recovered. No sense letting a good weapon slide beneath the waves.

She stops on the ledge to coil her rope and grab her grappel shoving them into her pack as the ship slides into the sea. Breathing a sigh of relief at the close call, she concentrates on navigating the cliff back.

Feeling the ship shudder under his feet, Tony shouts; "She's going!" and makes a mad scramble up to the ledge.

There, he watched the last remains of the Jenivere slide beneath the waves with sadness. She had served well as a home away from home for long weeks, and now the last bastion of civilization was gone. He shook his head and made his way across the cliff for the last time.

On the beach, he shifted his rapier back to it's more comfortable slung position and helps the rest of the survivors ferry the supplies back to base camp.
There Tony will present Jask with the things that were in the footlocker (Shisa having mentioned they were his).
*[footlocker]a well-maintained but battered-looking suit of leather armour (looks to be for a medium-sized male)
*[footlocker]two stoppered clay vials which sound like they contain liquid.
*[footlocker]a leather pouch with several compartments containing what appears to be miscellaneous bits and bobs.

When he has time, Tony will look through the other stuff found in the desk; the oilskin-bound book which, at a glance, looks like it's the captain's log, and the charts.

"Now all we need is a source of fresh water. Has the jungle party come back yet?"

The Exchange

Captain's Log:
Entries from previous voyages and the first two thirds of the Jenivere's final voyage are precise in recording progress and events along the way. However, towards the end of the log entries become less common, sometimes missing days at a time, shorter, and less coherant. They focus more and more on the Varisian scholar, Ieana, with whom Captain Kovack appears to have become obsessed - several entries are nothing more than poorly written love poems to her, or rants bemoaning the captain's inability to please her or even catch her attention. The final few entries become even more ominous, with complaints that the crew are 'eyeing my Ieana', particularly the first mate Alton Devers, of whom the captain writes, 'I wish he'd just have an accident'. The very last entry is the most disturbing of all, explaining how the captain has changed course for Smuggler's Shiv at Ieana's request, and how he hopes that the two of them, 'can make a home on the remote island'. He writes of the crew's 'agitation' at the new course, and of how 'something may need to be done about them' if their suspicions worsen...

Maps and charts:
The maps and charts include one of the west coast of Garund that plots the Jenivere's route to and from Sargava - the island of Smuggler's Shiv isn't marked on this chart, but it is on a second map of Desperation Bay, though there are no details apart from the island's outline (a little like a curve-bladed dagger) and a note warning of generic danger.

A little while after the 'ship scavenging' party have made it back to shore, rested up a bit, and the various items rescued from the wreck have been examined and parcelled out for transport (not sure what Mundin's done with that gold though...) a quiet rustling in the undergrowth serves as prelude to the return of Sasha Nevah. The redhead looks none the worse for wear, although a little more dishevelled than when she left. What's more she appears with the carcass of a freshly killed small goat over her shoulders, which she dumps before the waiting group,

'Phew!' she exclaims, sinking down to sit on a fallen log and regain her breath, 'Hunting one of these things with nothing but a rapier and a dagger is not to be recommended!' Wiping her brow she tosses a few pieces of fruit to those who look most in need, and takes a long swig of water from what looks to be a cut length of vine. Glancing at the others she smiles and holds up the vine, 'Yeah - it's a pretty neat trick: Master Bandy showed us. He's found us a nice defensible hill, and we cleared out this big cobra which our navigator declared was the only serious predator in that area - he and the young wizard are awaiting us there... hopefully having set up shelters or something. No fresh water yet, but I think the druid's magic will have that covered by morning... unless he wondered off or anything...'

Once everyone's had a bite or two to eat, and some water to drink (although Aerys complains bitterly about that) Sasha leads the group back through the jungle...

The going is slow, which provides plenty of time for Sasha and the rest to exchange stories of what they've been up to. After about an hour, the heavens open and torrential rain begins to poor down, turning the already difficult terrain slick with mud, and making the moss-covered fallen logs which seems pretty common in the jungle especially treacherous to scramble over. Despite all that, Sasha declares you're making excellent time, as when she first came this way she, Bandy, and Marik were all searching for provisions as well... not to mention dodging some of the various natural dangers of the jungle, which Sasha now makes sure to lead you all around.

A couple of hours after the rain starts it stops, just as abruptly, and about an hour after that, as the sun sinks below the horizon, the group finally drag their mud-caked, battered, and fatigued selves up the hill to where Sasha left Marik and Bandy...

Marik's not long finished his bonding ritual... and is just starting to realise he managed to sit through a rainstorm without noticing... when Sasha returns with the rest of the survivors - all looking considerably downtrodden, especially that Shisa, who looks pale as a ghost...

Tony looks at Mundin with astonishment.
"Are you crazy? It may not be truly comfortable, but that rain is free fresh water! We need to rig the canvas to funnel it into our water containers."
He looks around at the supplys the party has.
"Of containers which we don't have much."

Shisa plops down with her back against a tree. Her clothing is soaked and sticks to her skin. Already, she begins to feel the oppressive humidity sucking even more of her stamina from her.

She struggles out of her pack, her face ashen with fatigue. "I tend to agree with Mundin," she says quietly as she tries to catch her breath. "Shelter is going to be mandatory if we're to keep our food dry. Tony does have a point though. We should be able to catch some of the water off the canvas."

Digging into her pack, she pulls out her empty waterskin and tosses it to Tony. "Here's one for you." Standing slowly, she removes her rapier and leans it against her pack keeping her dagger and Alton's short sword on her belt as the heavier blade is more suited to cutting brush if need be.

Assuming no one else picked the sword up as it wasn't mentioned.

"Ok, what do you need me to do?" Her question sounds strained but she's determined to pull her own weight even if she's never had to set up a camp site before.

"Wont do us good to work in the dark, I do have some light however." Searching through his bag Aerodus will mutter, "I know its in here somewhere...... Aha!" And will draw forth a small sphere and cup it in his hands.

With a gentle toss he says "Now get going you." Releasing it to fly around his head, an orbiting halo light source.

"Well... we have light, tools, and bodies, all we need is materials and time. I can start digging.... some pits" And start hunting for a shovel.

Woo profession soldier! +5 bonus on digging!

GM:

Should we just handwave it and say "We make camp." Or do we need to specify water supply, food supply, dry shelter, camp defenses, fire, etc.

The Exchange

I need a general idea of what you're all doing, yes. Keep in mind that this is the end of a very long day which, for most, has been nothing but exertion in a hostile climate. Anyone trying to construct a Roman legion style encampment this night isn't going to be much use for anything come the morning. Some overall decisions also obviously need to be made - to start a fire or not, to set guards or not (and if so then what shifts), whether to scoff all the food and water collected or to try rationing, etc., etc.. Or, to put it another way, when the monkey ninja attack in the middle of the night it'll be too late to start crying 'but my character would have...' if your character didn't... Fair warning... now where did I put those monkey ninja statistic blocks? ;p

Sasha dumps the gear she was carrying, waves a dismissive hand at the discussions on water gathering, and sits herself down next to Shisa,

'I've marched through this damned jungle three times already today... so someone start a fire, roast some goat, and wake me when it's ready.' With that she shifts a little until she seems more comfortable, closes her eyes, and drops off to sleep.

The middle-aged Jask seems to be flagging after the march through the jungle and is bent double, one hand propped against a tree, drawing in deep breaths, obviously exhausted.

Gelik casts his favourite cantrip to straighten his appearance and clean his clothes, smiles as he watches Aerodus launch his 'halo', then finds a smooth rock to perch upon, sitting cross-legged as he gets out his journal, quill, and ink and begins to write.

Aerys and Ishirou both stand apart from the rest of the group, talking quietly but animatedly with each other...

For those trying to eavesdrop...

Perception DC 12::
'We should just leave this lot to their fate,' Aerys whispers in harsh tones to the Tian man, adding, 'we both have skills as sailors, you and I - I'm sure we can find something seaworthy enough along the shore to make the trip to the mainland... but these idiots will just get us killed. The fool paladin and that annoying girl have already almost managed to kill themselves, why let them take us with them? Besides, I haven't had a drink in over a day...'

'Mistress Mavato... Aerys...' Ishirou replies, a little hesitantly, 'I... I see your point, I do... but surely we'll be safer in greater numbers? Some of our fellow castaways may be a little... lacking in common sense...' he steals a glance towards Tony, before turning back to Aerys, '... but a few days in a place like this will calm them down, I'm sure. Besides, you know as well as I that no one's ever sailed away from the Shiv in a makeshift boat - it wrecks seaworthy ships as a matter of course, the two of us alone won't be able to beat the currents and tides around the island.'

The whispered discussion seems to continue along those lines, with the obviously annoyed Aerys wishing to depart, and Ishirou councelling caution.

"Let's set a fire, roast some goat and set watches for tonight. I can take first watch."

To overhear...
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Can't hear, but I bet she's talking about me...
Tony sighs, gets up and walks over to speak to Aerys.
"Milady Aerys. I feel I should apologize for my words to you earlier, they were... not very respectful, and I apologize if I gave offense.
For my part, I was attempting to treat you as I would any boon companion and trusted friend. Considering our situation now, our lives will no doubt be in each others hands, and I would pledge my life to honor and defend each other."

Tony turns and speaks to everyone.
"To that end I would offer a toast! There were a couple of bottles of good liqouer in the Captains cabin, but I fear Mundin broke them getting into the drawer. All I have is what's left of the brandy in my flask here; not much is left, about a swollow for each of us.
Will you come by the fire and pledge along with us?"

Tony pulls out his flask and offers it to each one in turn.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Shisa looks over at Mundin and Tony. "Perhaps we can set up a couple of quick lean-to's with the canvass. That'll be quick and at least keep our gear and us dry should it rain again"

Casting a quick glance over to where Aerys and Ishirou are chatting, she shrugs and moves to grab a sheet of canvass, keeping her ears perked without being obvious.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Shisa pauses a moment, thankful for the failing light as her face reddens and a very low growl sounds from deep in her throat. She picks up a sheet of canvass then drops it, turning and walks up to Aerys.

Elvish:
"Look, I may not be as old and wise as you and you may think of us as idiots, but at least we tried to do something to help the situation instead of moping around wondering where our next sip of rum would come from."

She draws Alton's sword from it's sheath and flips it into the ground between them. Her voice raises a bit and begins to sound heated before returning to a normal tone.

Elvish:
"Alton died in a pool of blood on that ship with that in his hand. The cook also died from something, but it wasn't the ship's crashing that's all I could tell. Ishirou is right, we should stick together. If we're such idiots.. teach us."

She bends down to retrieve the sword and spins back to the rest of the group to help set up shelters.

"fire warms the bones, and hot food is good for the osul. I sugegst soemoen else cook, otherwise you'll all be complaining come morning. I'll work on a make shift shelter to keep us dry for the night and take midnight watch, my eyesight is better in the dark anyway. "

Mundin will us ehis axe to get soem good logs and hammer them into the ground at a forward angle. he will tie the canavs over it from top to ground and use a shovel to pile earth at the base. the opening will be towards the fire. He sings a dwarven work song, meant to keep the mind busy and the body working at a good pace.

I take it that The druid... is somewhere .. just staring blindly into space?

Once Aerodus has finished digging the "Latrine Pit", he will work on the fire pit, muttering something like "It's like being back in the crusades, but at least the weather was comfortable."

"I say we watch in two's... there should be enough for all of us sans druid I'm wary of what lives in the wilderness"

If no one else will volunteer Aerodus will start cooking

"Yep, just like being back in Mendev, less demons though, more heat. I may not be a fancy chef, but it should at least be palatible" As he gets to work on preparing the goat to be cooked.

Profession Chef: 1d20 ⇒ 20

With flurry and flair, the paladin makes short work of the goat Like hes a trained killer! "We'll be eating soon..." He hums whilst cooking.

I crit my cooking!

Shisa walks over to help Mundin raising the shelters, tying off the canvass to both trees and the stakes he'd cut and driven into the ground using lengths of rope salvaged from the ship. She hides a grimace at the dwarf's raspy song and chalks it up to a long day with little water and food.

Upon hearing Aerodus's suggestion, she looks up at him. "I'll volunteer for the first watch."

When the first shelter is done, she begins moving some of their belongings beneath it.

We seem to have misplaced both of the 'jungle patrol' PCs... I know the old 'don't split the party' rule, but this sort of result seems a bit drastic...

Quote:

"Milady Aerys... All I have is what's left of the brandy in my flask here; not much is left, about a swollow for each of us.

Will you come by the fire and pledge along with us?"

Aerys seems to be pointedly ignoring Tony's attempts at reconciliation, but when the flask is offered she practically snatches it from his hand, necks the lot, then tosses it back to the young man with a contemptuous scowl maring her otherwise good looks.

Shisa's approach is met with similar contempt, until the very end of her elvish speech, when Aerys leans very close to Shisa's face (the odour of Tony's brandy still fresh of her breath) and answers,

In elvish:
'You want a lesson, you sanctimonious little b*~@$? Fine!

... suddenly Aerys's tightly clenched fist hurtles towards Shisa's jaw! Luckily Shisa's wary enough of her fellow half-elf to be alert for such things, and manages to sidestep the furiously swung blow... which only seems to annoy Aerys more! Fists raised in readiness, Aerys begins to circle Shisa, looking for an opening...

Meanwhile, Mundin starts constructing the shelters (and using some sort of secret dwarven cry to keep wildlife away... or so it seems...), and Aerodus proves he should have listened to his mother and become a chef instead of pursuing all that silly paladin nonsense... Technically that's only a threat of a critical on his cooking... ;)

Sasha covers her ears and rolls over, trying her best to ignore Mundin's 'singing'... and not opening her eyes, so not noticing the conflict between Shisa and Aerys. Gelik, on the other hand, pauses halfway through selecting a particularly good rock to chuck at the dwarf to instead sit up and observe the 'cat fight' with interest, quill poised. Jask's eyes turn skywards as the fight breaks out, and he utters a rather exasperated prayed to Nethys, whilst Ishirou - despite being as shocked as everyone else by the outbreak of violence - draws his sword and moves to intercept anyone trying to stop the fight... muttering something about duels and honour as he does so...

Shocked, Tony catches his now empty flask. Holding it upside down, nothing comes out.

"What the HELL is wrong with you woman?" Tony shouts, angry now.
"There was enough for EVERYONE to have a taste, and you took it ALL!"

Tony takes a step towards Aerys, maybe to shake some sense into her, maybe to punch her in the nose. Only to be brought up sharply at being nose to swords point with Ishirou.

"Though I guess I could use it to hold some water now..."

If he does notice

After letting the goat start to cook amidst the flames, Aerodus looks up and sees the half elves starting their circle of death, and will approach Ishirou (who seems intent upon letting them battle).

"Sir, do you think its wise to let them knock each other silly? I hold no favor for either to win, but I see no point in brawling amongst ourselves amidst who knows what the jungle may send our way. And even more so, how can there be honor in fighting a weakened opponent, the songstress is barely able to stand; let alone stand against your battle maiden in a duel. As men of honor let us at least postpone this until there can be a fair fight."

And on with diplomacy checks! Giving you two in case one is needed for Aerys.

Wow, I go away for the weekend and everybody is at each others throats

As Marik finally becomes aware of his surroundings he whispers to himself "Amazing, simply amazing."
Then louder "Master Bandy, I have the most incredible news. Master Bandy?" Hmm, must have gone to forage in the jungle, and why are my clothes soaking wet?"

Unaware of how awful his singing really is, Mundin works on steadily. he stops singing when the brawl starts, and begins coaching shisa on proper brawling technique. "Let her make the first move! keep those fists up! be reayd to close in quick when she strikes! "

hearing marik finally return to reality [b]"Excellent work lad, maybe we should nominate you as the new Navigator!"[/]

Shisa keeps her eyes on Aerys as she tries to keep out of arm's reach of the angry half-elf. The weight of Alton's short sword in her hand reminds her that she doesn't want to kill Aerys. She flicks her wrist and tosses the weapon toward the fire.

The words she says are even-toned without anger.

Elvish:
[/b]"Aerys, are you crazy? We're in deep enough trouble. Stranded on some Cayden forsaken island, little food and water. We need to work together. Who's being an idiot now? How much honor is there in fighting someone not your enemy?"[/b]

She hears Mundin's words of instruction, but she concentrates solely on avoiding getting decked.
