Discusion thread open.

DM Bigrin |

@GM Paladin - I don't know what you normally use for the Junkrace portion of this scenario, but I made a map that I have been using. Each segment represents 25 feet of movement, for a total of 3000 feet. My players have had fun actually seeing the tokens in order, rather than just a number line. You are free to use it if you like.

@Idomyll
Boons are special bonuses that can be earned through Society play. There are six primary boon slots (ally, faction, personal, promotional, social, and starship), and typically you can only have 1 boon of each type "slotted" to your character per scenario.
Boons work exactly as specified on the boon sheet, which may be single-use, limited use, or unlimited use. For example, an unlimited use boon would be your Faction boon, which you slot to gain Fame and reputation for a specific faction. An example of a limited use boon might be True Savior of Tasch, which you can receive from 1-02 and allows you to forgo your day job roll to accrue credits in another fashion. I believe that one is 5 times, and then it is complete. A single-use boon might be a one-time potion use, such as the Elixir of Renewal that comes with the Welcome to Starfinder boon, which only applies to your first SFS character (your #-701).
When the GM asks for you to "slot your boons", he is asking you to identify which boons you are going to prepare for this game. Since you can only have 1 boon per slot, you may have to pick and choose which ones to use for that scenario. Sometimes the GM might suggest certain boons be slotted, based on the scenario to be played.
Boons are (supposed to be) specific to a single character, either earned by that character in a scenario he played in, or assigned to the character when the boon is gained by other means (such as event boons, etc.).
You can read more information about boons and how they work in the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide, starting on Page 7.

Radiance is ready to start when ever everyone else is. I finally bought her equipment!
EDIT: ...and looking at the gameplay thread it looks like we have started! Blah, this is in my campaigns tab, I've looked at the thread before, why didn't I get new post notifications?

To speed things up, we're going to go with "two assent, no dissent" consensus for decisions like this. If two players post saying "Let's do this" without anyone saying "Let's do this other thing" or "I disagree, let's not do that" we'll go for the thing the two players said. If anyone speaks up to disagree, it'll be majority decision. There's nothing as frustrating in PbP as waiting for someone to post just to choose one of a few more-or-less equal options. At my discretion, I may decide to wait and let everyone weigh in, if the choice is clearly a momentous one, for instance.

![]() |

Agree. In fact, I'm totally fine to just go down the list, since as you've said, these options are almost always more-or-less equal.

![]() |

Idomyll, was that post a vote in favor of Exoguardians, or just a general "let's do this" thing?

![]() |

"Let's do this" I am too new and not sure what my character "should" be doing yet. I am eager to participate but I am not comfortable making a decision that effects the whole party. I will happily follow the crowd.

![]() |

Idomyll, in fact, I would actively encourage you to make decisions. I think many of the rest of us have played this scenario before, so it's always great to let those who haven't played it make the decisions, so that we don't accidentally spoil things. :) Besides, making decisions is what rpg is about. And of course, living with the consequences. :)

![]() |

I'm halfway through this in another PbP, so letting a novice steer is fine with me.
GM P, I'm good with your method for speeding things up. I do something similar when running dungeon crawls by PbP, unless the party is heading for something problematic.

![]() |

If Radiance's standoffishness is problematic feel free to let me know! I'd been planning on her being somewhat naïve, but that morphed into being sheltered and a bit judgemental. I'm planning on having her soften up a bit as things go on, so it's just for now.
But truly if it's annoying or off-putting please feel free to let me know!

![]() |

Hey, no worries! Let Radiance evolve. Interesting characters make for interest roleplay! :)

![]() |

And difference in party viewpoint make things more fun. Happy to have Radiance be judgmental. Some of us sound like we need it.
Itch is a jaded, noir detective. He's always going to be suspicious of people until his nose tells him otherwise. Even then, maybe not. But like any PI, he really does want to help people, and the Exo-Guardians might need someone like him to ferret out who's a real threat to the Pact Worlds.

![]() |

I've added a map to the slides. Please copy and paste images of your characters and size them to be appropriate icons. If you can't (e.g. on mobile) let me know and I'll do that tonight. Entrance is on the right, please place your characters in a position as they enter.

![]() |

Starting out sheltered and judgmental is fine--it's how she responds when she realizes she is. That's where, IMO, alignment matters. An LN character is probably going to react rather differently from an NG or CG character.

I realize she has been acting more lawful good than neutral good, and that might fit her better at the beginning. However in the middle of a scenario isn't the time to change her alignment, even if it's just on paper. Sorry if she's not acting truly neutral good.

![]() |

Easy to chalk up to the shock of traveling with an apparent bunch of reprobates, and the casual way they're talking about treating Pact law as more like...guidelines. I can see her initial reaction being something like, "Wait! You can't do that! There are *rules*!" What was the party like in your first scenario?

![]() |

Ah--I missed that the other one was for the Game Day. So yeah, for her it's like, "Welcome to the Starfinder Society! You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

![]() |

Pretty much so!
I do have to admit, I've been enjoying seeing Lola's "Show no weakness" reactions! She's been great at establishing character and sticking to it.

![]() |

Sorry for dropping off the edge of things the past couple of days--I was traveling, and anticipated only being able to post from my phone Friday night through this afternoon. Cell reception was terrible where I was, though, and by the time I knew how bad it was it was too late to post. OTOH, Lola isn't that good at talking to people, so she probably would have let the faces have at.

![]() |

Off topic post. I have been delving into the various ways to improve online gaming, since that is my only means. I have discovered Virtual Table tops. I have been playing with 3d VTT and recreated our current set up. I took some liberty with the models hope no one minds.
This is really a public service announcement about something I found that was cool. I am not in any way affiliated with the program or manufacturer.
if your interested to see the current battle

Very interesting, but I don't really know how to interact with this interface.

![]() |

Very interesting, but I don't really know how to interact with this interface.
It is all drag and drop. Easy once you play with it for 5 minutes. Everyone is able to move all the pieces.
This is a test so everyone feel free to give it a try. It is the GM who sets up the maps, Has the ability to create new maps, Create new models and control fog of war. I will say it cost 5$ per month to subscribe (for GM only everyone else is free) because they have server costs. I bought a month just to try it. They allot 5 gig of cloud storage for maps and models which is a metric ton. Since my models are in the KB. There is also another table top I am interested in call Gtove but it is under production and only allows offline for the moment.I love that it connects to google and is web based. I tried it on my android phone using Chrome and it works fantastic.
Just wanted to share just in case people were interested. Roll20 does not work on my phone and is way more expensive.
P.S. Hold Control+Right click to rotate map, also an in game dice roller with /roll

Sorry for the slower posting for the past couple of days! I've been busy packing cleaning and getting things ready for a trip to Canada and then to visit my parents in the States!
From August 1st to August 19th (Japan time of course) I'm going to be away from my computer and I won't have cellular data, so all of my posts will be over wifi. I am going to bring a bluetooth keyboard along just in case, but my posting might be shorter and more sporadic than usual. Thus, feel free to bot me when needed.
In addition, this coming weekend, Friday the 3rd to Monday the 6th (United States/Canada time), I'm planning on going to a 4 day LARP event, where I will definitely not have wi-fi! So I give everyone here permission to freely bot Vyviane during that time. If you're first in posting for the round, why not move her along as well? If it's a roleplay heavy situation, feel free to try thinking of lines for her! It'd be interesting to see what people think she would say!

![]() |

I will be traveling form Aug 1-14, and my posting will be spotty. I'll post when I can, but if you need to DMPC me to keep the flow going, please don't hesitate.

![]() |

I've just finished 24+ hours of traveling and am down and out. I'll try getting a post in tomorrow but if that's too late feel free to bot me!

![]() |

Rastar: Sounds like way too much entertainment.
All: AFAICT, we have no one with a Diplomacy check over +1. I suggest in the interests of moving things along, we work with Velocity, try to Bluff the gnome into doing something stupid, maybe try a Culture check with Rylzin, and otherwise focus on punching up the racer. Unfortunately, if we put even more into speed I'm afraid we'll end up with everyone shooting at us.

![]() |

I finally have had a chance to breath, sit down someplace with wifi and pull out my computer! I'll be reading up on all of my games and get a few posts in!

SanityAWOL |

I just want to thank GM Paladin for hosting this game, essentially for me, it was a great experience for my first starfinder game and I learned quite a bit.
I also want to thank everyone for playing I very much enjoyed all the different personalities. I hope we can all meet up again in future adventures.
