"The battle is afoot. Or is it a hand? A fist? Whatever, it is a battle!!!" Gunari uses a fervor as a swift action to activate his Divine Favor, and attacks the southern dwarf with his rapier.

I don't want to lose my attack, especially since no one will be flanking, is it possible to just use my attack without the flanking and sneak attack bonus/damage? Could have it still go off on Lort's initiative since that was the original plan... Let me know, I am hoping that once Cyrus realizes his plan to wait for Lort wasn't going to work, he would just attack anyways.

Temple map

Guided by Cayden Cailean, Gunari's sword easily bypasses the dwarf's defences. The dwarf looks down to the weapon stuck in his guts, grunts a little and then drops down. The enemy lies in the ground, blood gushing from his wounds.

Rager 1: Ref save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Eyes fixed on Cyrus, the other warrior doesn't notice the slippery substance being conjured under his feet. Suddenly, the dwarf just loses balance, and falls face down on the grease. "AARR, WHO DID THIS? I'LL BITE YER HEAD OFF, I WILL!" he swears, beard sticky with the substance. The angry dwarf starts to rise up, giving Cyrus an opportunity for a free strike.

Rager 1 draws AoO from Cyrus

Finally on his legs, the dwarf returns the favor, and gives the young ninja a taste of his axe.
Axe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
But once again Cyrus proves to be too fast for the warrior.

Sure, go ahead. So that's round 1 attack, AoO and round 2 attack. Plenty of attacks, but no flanking

My rolls from the previous attack would hit AC 26 and do 7 damage (removing flanking and sneak attack) and the crit did not confirm. If you would prefer me to re-roll them I can!

Cyrus sees an opening from the awkward dwarf as he stands back up, and reaches in with his new weapon.

Attack of Opportunity, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

AoA Crit Confirm, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10 for Crit Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Deftly dodging the dwarf's swing again, he redoubles his effort to cut the stubborn brute down.

Attack, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Then, not wanting to allow himself to get flanked by the damphir behind him, he steps 5 feet to the side. Unwilling to relinquish the advantage he has, Cyrus digs down to his inner reserves to get an extra attack on the unstable dwarf. Spending a Ki point to get an extra attack as a full round action.

Attack, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Crit Confirm, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 1 = 17 for Crit Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

If by chance he is already down before spending the Ki point, I would like to save it please :)

I know it's probably too late to retrofit so much, but if we can... Lort would like to use my Goblins Tee reroll on that save...

Lort save reroll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

...and he'll probably fail again anyway!

Temple map

15 is enough! Lort could act normally. It's just retconning I'm worried about.. Is there an action he could have taken on round 1 that would not affect the flow of events (grease, Cyrus' attacks)? A self-buff spell, etc?

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

How about attacking the other dwarf instead (ie. Not providing flank to Cyrus). Tactically speaking, to allow Ibid a better shot? You could use my previously posted rolls above if you like (or tell me to roll again, or roll for me). If that doesn't work for you, don't worry about the reroll - oh, unless there's enough space for an enlarge person?

Temple map

Edit: Enlarge person would work without retconning, since it only takes effect on the beginning of your second round. You could do that, and then start your second round being nasty, big half-orc... But I'll leave to the possibility to skip the reroll, if the spell is not an action you'd like to do. In that case you are able to act on round two, just have to pick up your weapon

Cyrus hits the dwarf over and over again, sending blood flying with each of his strokes. Miraculously, the dwarf seems to be still standing, keeping together by fury alone.

Vonraig watches in horror as his hired muscle are being cut down. Getting nervous, the dhampir keeps smiting his enemies with spells; A few magical words, and Cyrus feels the darkness of the tomb suddenly much scarier. The enemies look monstrous, and who knows what crawls in those dark corners..

Cause fear: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Cyrus needs to make a DC 14 will save or be frightened for 2 rounds. If he succeeds, he's only shaken for 1 round instead.

Sorry! I didn't read it properly. Server going down fried my brain. I also forgot to re-post that I moved Ibid's token to where it should be and also forgot to re-post an apology for not attacking the dhampir, but with a move action to pick up the greatsword, that action was all I could do without provoking an attack of opportunity from the rager and risking falling on my butt while charging across the greased-up floor.

If in some distant future an archeologist happens to find this tomb, he must wonder what manner of butchery transpired here. Lort, coming to his senses, shows that a raging dwarf is no match for angered half-orc. The warrior-priest swings his giant sword, and cleaves the dwarf in half.

Lort went first in initiative, so I'm redirecting Ibid's attack on the dhampir

Meanwhile, Ibid 'a arrow pierces the dhampir's bone armour. Vonraig turns to face his assailant, but instead finds himself staring at an approaching blade crackling with electricity. And before he can react, the blade is in his chest, sending deadly jolts of lightning. Smoke rising from electrocuted skin, the dhampir falls down.

Cyrus takes a moment to nurse his wound, then goes about picking through the pockets of the dwarves and their leader. Once he has cleaned them out of their useful items, he starts helping Lort stack the bricks.

Responding to Lort's question, "My people believe that, despite the fact that they are dead, the people who rest in these tombs are in fact still... using this place. They inhabit it, and these are their precious belongings. It's not supposed to be about who sees it, but the comfort and familiarity one has during the eternal afterlife."

Cyrus trails off for a minute, his work interrupted momentarily.

"I think its a bunch of crap to be honest, but I do my best to respect my people and our culture. If closing this tomb back up will help their souls rest, or at least help those still alive to rest easy, then I will do my part." He watches as the group moves about the task of tidying and resealing, "and I appreciate yours as well."

Yea. Probably more family than just friends. I got pretty close with some of the other kids at the orphanage, but nothing like this. Cyrus smiles to himself and goes about his work, then goes with the small group back up to the city to acquire some mortar to finish the job.

When the group leaves the tomb for the last time, Cyrus makes sure to clean any visual markers that the group used to lead them to the tomb in the first place.

Tomb displays a very traditional Osirian burial. Having been unsealed just a few days ago, everything is in very good condition; The wall’s depictions of funerary rites are well preserved, and would be great value for any osirionologist. What makes the tomb unusual, is that it lies here in Absalom, far away from the lands of the Pharaohs. The Khemi family were refugees from Osirion, and lived a good part of their lives in Absalom. Therefore the illustrations in the tomb are unique in the sense that they describe osirianite life in Absalom, hundreds of years ago.

Gunari knows that in order to hide the tomb entrance they would need a skilled mason to repair the wall, amateur job would most likely be noticed sooner or later. That, or magical means. Profession (mason) or Make Whole, anyone? Being in Absalom, you shouldn't have difficulty of finding a mason in Society's employ, who knows to keep him mouth shut. Caving in the whole tunnel might work as well.

Whatever is troubling Mort, will not go away with a little rest and herbal remedies, Gunari is sure of that. The ailment seems to be magical in nature, most likely a curse.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Lort isn't powerful enough cleric-wise to pray for a make whole, but a scroll might work. Gunari could probably do it after a night's prayer also (I think warpriests can cast any cleric spell). Would repeated uses of mending be of any help, or would it just take too long?

Lort stands ready, happy to either collapse the tunnel or stand guard until someone is able to figure out a better solution.

"IBID, MAYBE YOU'D LIKE TO COPY SOME OF THESE PICTURES WHILE WE WAIT FOR GUNARI'S ASSESSMENT," Lort screeches inhumanly. By Kurgess, I cannot wait to lift this curse!

"I'll go find a mason, I am sure the society has just the right contractor for the job. Then we can go report this mission complete, as well as let my esteemed leader know that the band of tomb robbers has been dispatched."

Cyrus points a few interesting things out from the paintings he remembers from old stories as a child that seem to fit with the mythology and lore of the osirion culture to Ibid as he copies some of the drawings and makes notes. After that, he quickly ducks out and heads up to the Grand Lodge at a comfortable jog to enlist the services of a professional mason to properly close the wall.

Easiest option is to take the professional mason option... If there is anything else we can do let us know, otherwise it seems we might be ready to move on. Once we have the wall repaired, we can go as a group to report it to the sapphire sage.

Break Enchantment 1d20 +9 vs DC 16
You can roll to see the effect, and if you need several attempts

Lort will pay for a remove curse (after all, mathematically speaking, it will need to not work 3 times before paying for Break Enchantment might have been more worth it, but even then it could fail).

Caster level check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 -- Woo! First time, no rerolls or repays!

Thanks all for offering to chip in to help pay for this! However, I'm happy to wear the cost myself - after all, Lort is mostly an "off screen" character who gets full XP, full prestige, full gold, uses no expendables and doesn't risk his life on a regular basis. If you strongly object to me paying on my own, let me know, otherwise I'll cross off the 150 gp.

"Oh, that feels so much better!" booms Lort rather sedately, "Now, let's go find that mason. Three silver sounds like an absolute bargain compared to the cost of the make whole spell. Then, at last, these Osirions who were entombed so far from home may finally rest in peace once more."

Lort hones his blade yet again (I know it's magical now so it makes no difference, but it's a habit of his).

All cool, Lort. Heck, you could have just spent 1PP for that as well.

To the mason, "So, my friend. No word of this to anyone, right? Here's 6gp for the job. Remember, no one ever hears about this. Ever. Not even us."

intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Not very convincing, was he?

6gp so we all would throw in 1gp... but I am fine spending the full 6gp myself.

1 GP each, and Lort is totally calling in a Grand Lodge favor to spend the 1PP instead of 150gp!

Miro will happily chip in a gold coin to the mason, clapping the fellow on the shoulder. "We're told your work is the finest in Absalom. I'm sure you won't disappoint us."

"Thank you gentlemen," the mason says, counting the coins. "Yer very generous. And don't ye worry, me lips be sealed. I've worked with yer kind before, I have.. Ye would've believe the things the Zarta lady had me do. But she has her way of paying, too..." the man goes on, getting a little blush on his cheeks.

Several hours later, the wall is repaired, and shows no sign of the tomb entrance. Cyrus wipes off the chalk markings, and the Khemi tomb is once more lost in the depths of Absalom's infamous sewers.

I'll be closing up the mission tomorrow. Feel free to have your characters enjoy Absalom while they are making their way to Salhar's estate. And yes, you can make purchases. This is Absalom, after all...

Lort returns to his caravan while the others make their purchases. I should probably stock up on some provisions, too, but I spent most of the gold I've been earning on enchanting my old elf cleaver. Ah well. Totally worth it.

"Well, Shaggy, it's official," Lort says to the enormous mammoth that pulls his portable shrine to Kurgess as he brushes it down, "You are not as good as human company. Oh, don't look at me like that. Sure, we've had some great times - and there'll be more in the future - but this lot are true friends. It's great to be around civilization again. Yeah, I'll get bored of it and return to the north with you, but no time soon. There is much to be done, much to be done!"

My, how times have changed. Looks like they're changing for the Society, too. I just hope it's for the better. Lort winds his way out of the ever-bustling coins district, too lost in thought to pay any heed to the peddlers or their wares. He rejoins his friends, a broad smile his only greeting. None assembled can ever remember such a quiet arrival from the half-orc.

"Well, if you're finished with acquiring your extra gear, I believe there is someone who'd like to hear from us," says Lort quite sedately, melancholy tinging his voice, "Shall we?"

It is already dark, when the Pathfinders are done with their business and making their way towards Ambassador Salhar's residence. Despite the late hour, walking the streets of Petal District feels safe, the upper-class neighbourhood well lit and guarded. The militant-looking group does draw some looks from some private guards around the district, but none give any trouble to the Pathfinders.

Arriving to Salhar's estate, they are received by a dark-skinned manservant, who scrutinizes the group and let's them state their business. Learning that they are Pathfinders to see Amenopheus, the Garundi lets them in, leading them into an anteroom. "Please wait here," the manservant says and withdraws from the room. After a while, he returns carrying a colourful bottle on his hands. Before the Pathfinders can react, the Garundi sprays sweet-scented perfume on them, making sure everyone gets their share. Finally, the servant sets the bottle onto a table, and opens a door to the parlour. "Now you may enter," he says dryly, showing no emotion whatsoever. Perhaps the group still carried some aromas from the sewers, even if they had already gotten used to it themselves...

"Ah, there you are. Please come in," Amenopheus greets them as they enter. "This is my old friend, Dremdhet Salhar, ambassador of Osirion in Absalom. Are you already acquainted?", he motions toward an obese Garundi man standing next to sage.

"I'm afraid I've never had the pleasure," bellows Lort, his normal cheer returning after being lost in thought most of the day, "Very nice to meet you, Dremdhet Salhar. I am Lort, warrior and cleric of Kurgess.

"Tell me," continues Lort, addressing Salhar directly, "Would you at all be interested in starting an exercise regime? I'm something of a fitness trainer. With some hard work and dedication - and probably also a change to your diet- and I'm sure we could rid you of that excess flab. I'll wager with my help, you could be taut and trim within the year! No payment will be necessary, but Kurgess does welcome donations. What do you say?"

Sorry, picturing Lort in polyester short shorts and knee high tube socks with a whistle around his neck and a baseball cap on. Oh HS football in the 90s, how I miss you

"Well met, Your Excellency. I am Finarin Moonstep, of the Kyonin nation. My .... friend Lort is quite dedicated to his .... particular form of worship. I am sure that any type of praying can be done at .... another time." Slightly dipping is head, Finarin tries to cover up any uncomfortability the ambassador might feel from Lort's somewhat vulgar statement of the obvious. Secretly though, Finarin completely agrees with his good friend Lort.

I have been double dipping with the return of Downtown Abbey and streaming the Showtime series Tudors so I am going with Your Excellency.

Miro gives the obese man a short bow, taking the opportunity to stifle his chuckle at Lort's statement of the obvious. "I've never had the pleasure, sir. Miro Ammars, of the Pathfinder Society's Grand Lodge, at your service. We have performed the task you requested of us, ridding the world of a few tomb-raiders slash murderers in the process. How'd your day been?"

Cyrus dips into a polite bow, grimacing at Lort's unintentional insult.

This lazy slob probably thinks his weight is a sign of wealth, because he can eat so much more than the poor folk...

"It is a pleasure to meet you sir. It is an honor to meet such an important representative of my homeland. I hope my friends and I can continue to make you proud." He smiles genuinely at the diplomat.

Turning to Amenopheus, "As Miro said, while we were sealing up the tomb and setting it back to rights, the raiders came back for more spoils. Two dwarves hired as muscle and a Dhampir named Vonraig. We cleaned up the blood as best we could..."

Salhar stares at the Pathfinders eyes wide and mouth open. Don't you know who I am, his posture seems to say. He is catching his breath to come up an answer for Lort, but Cyrus cuts in, and the ambassador seems to calm down.

"This is Dremdhet Salhar, ambassador of Osirion and a member of the Grand Council of Absalom" Amenopheus presents the ambassador, voice louder than normal. "These men, in turn..." now presenting the Pathfinder, "...are fairly new agents of the Pathfinder Society, who are yet to learn the fine details of diplomatic manners. You must forgive them." The cold look Amenopheus casts at certain members of the group does send some chills down everyone's spine.

"After all, I asked them to do a favour for Osirion. And they have delivered..." Amenopheus continues explaining the story of the amulet, letting the Pathfinders fill in the details.
"It is a good deed you did, Pathfinders," Salhar speaks now, first time directly to the group. "I thank you for restoring the peace for the dead, and getting rid of the ...culprits. but no details, please. All the fighting sounds so gruesome..."

"Amenopheus," the copper-skinned ambassador turns to the sage, "the significance of this most recent gesture is not lost on me. As I noted earlier, your continued respect for Osirion and its history despite past circumstances has impressed even the Ruby Prince who sent you away a year ago. If there is anyway I can aid you and your agents in reconciling with His Majesty, I happily offer my services."
Amenopheus responds graciously, "During my year of searching for the Jeweled Sages, I have determined my true calling is that ancient organization. While I’m honored by your gesture, Osirion shall always be a close friend, but not my master."
Salhar seem somewhat taken back by Amenopheus’ reply, then with solemnly dignity makes a sacred sign and says, "So be it then. In the Ruby Prince’s name, I offer you Osirion’s blessing. We officially recognize the Jeweled Sages’ legitimacy and accept them as allies and honored guests within our borders. I shall make this declaration public ensuring a peaceful break between your new order and the old."
"Peace, yes," Amenopheus agrees, "but the head of our organization would prefer we not be exposed to public scrutiny until we are better established."

Salhar seems to think for a moment, and then agrees: "Yes, I shall honor your organization's confidentiality. Now, I am tired, and must withdraw. You'll find your way out, I'm sure." And with that the Garundi takes his leave.

Amenopehus escorts the Pathfinders outside. “Well now, that was a curious turn of events. I suppose we’ll just have to see how that plays out in the future, won’t we?”

Sorry about the wall of text... Weekend coming, so I wanted to wrap this part up. You can plan your next festival move, or just go rest... More action on day 2!

"Thank you, sir. I am glad we were able to play such an important role in smoothing over relations between your faction of the Society and Osirion. It must have been hard," Lort seems genuine, even if he does say it too loudly, "I offer no apologies to Lord Fatty there, though. If the truth causes offense, then it is surely time to change that truth. If you catch him staring at his rolls some time in the future, perhaps you could remind him that my traveling shrine is always open to those wishing to better themselves physically."

Lort turns to his companions, his typical broad grin spreading over his bearded face, "So, games?"
