So Ober is a self buffing melee machine, who's a bit of a glass cannon. He can close self buff with divine favor and hit hard but he's rarely going to survive a slugfest.
Most likely he will cast bless off a wand to start and the close, use fervor to buff and attack
GMTrex
Speaking of slugfests, the APL for this group is a little over 3 (to be imprecise, somewhere between 3.17 and 3.67 depending on whether GM Alice's paladin can join us or not). I think the consensus so far has been to play up, but I need a confirmation from everybody (especially Ober) that you're willing to do that.
Also, welcome everybody!
GMTrex
Hi all! I'm very excited to be playing with you all once again! Feel free to introduce yourselves and your characters since not everyone has met (thanks for getting started on that already!)
We'll be starting this coming Sunday; we're waiting on one more player (and my thesis). In preparation, there are a few things I need from everybody:
1. Individual approval in this (Discussion) thread for playing up in Subtier 4-5. (Ober, Trifle, Mithradaties: you're all set, thanks!)
2. A few of your stats added to your character subheading. Please include current/total hit points, armor class (all three), saving throw modifiers, initiative modifier, and perception modifier. Feel free to add other stuff, such as per diem spells or channels or other resources.
3. On your character's page, please include a stat block or link or some other arrangement so that I can find your character's stats in some fashion. Stat block is easiest for me but if you have a preferred arrangement, that's fine too.
Secondly, a few basic expectations (which I think everyone's familiar with anyway):
1. A quick-posting thread is more fun for everyone! Please try to post at least once per day, and the more the merrier. Take your time and roleplay your hearts out (especially in this scenario), but do post regularly and keep the game moving. I'll do my best to do this as well. If you know you'll be unable to post for a while, please let us all know here and consider giving march orders to the party (especially if we're in combat) and know that the game will likely still keep moving.
2. I think I've gotten pretty familiar with the PFS/Pathfinder rules over the years, but obviously I haven't dealt regularly with every class or situation. So if you are concerned that I've messed up somewhere in a way that really impacts gameplay (which is possible), please feel free to raise the issue privately or in the Discussion thread and I'll do my best to correct the issue. It's all about learning!
3. Please pay attention to text formatting and the thread tabs. Use Gameplay for gameplay and Discussion for non-gameplay discussion. Use the [b] tag and quotes for in-character speech and the [ooc] tag for out-of-character commentary. Use spoiler tags when necessary and open them
4. In combat, please add Round 1 or Round 2, etc., at the top of your post. That will make things much easier for me. Feel free to post if it is not yet your turn if (and only if) you are reasonably certain that your action will not impact others earlier in the combat turn order.
5. Have fun and be the awesome Pathfinders you are!

                   Saki Kanazawa

Hi there, this is Alice and her paladin!
The module Saki was in just finished today, so I should be good to play if you'll still have me! (Chronicle should be on its way soon - Saki will be level 5 after it.) I will need to catch up with everything that I've missed thus far though.
As a paladin of Shelyn, shockingly enough Saki is not much of a damage dealer... :) (She also suffers from some poor mechanical choices being my first PFS character, haha.) She uses a glaive, so not the most ideal for the frontline, but can manage it fine enough; she's also pretty tanky!
GMTrex
Awesome! Wow, great timing. We start actual gameplay tomorrow, so you're right on schedule. The gameplay thread has just been introductions/banter so far, feel free to chime in (and check the discussion post above for upkeep stuff).
Great you can join us!
GMTrex
I believe I have everything above sorted already. :)
Just need your consent to playing up :)
(Same for Frag and Skybek.)

                   Ober

Like I said, I'm sort of a glass cannon, until I get a few more spells and can start using Shield of Faith without it affecting my ability to use Divine Favor, that said, I think I've spent the gold on a wand of Shield of faith, which should help.
GMTrex
Great, that's everybody then! Up up up it is. (Trifle actually just leveled up, so we're only barely shy of APL 4 anyhow.)
Re: Ober, I think you'll make it out alive. This is a pretty good party. Looking forward to seeing your GM baby in action!

Hm? How could she not be there? Didn't she draw a potion and drink it? (Move + Standard)
GMTrex
Alchemist! Standard action to draw and drink an extract.
GMTrex
Sorry for the delay everyone! The past two days were Commencement and move-out. Congratulations to Trifle for graduating college!

We're getting close to the end of this one... are folks interested in another, and any preferences if so? I am happy to run.

Yes. I've dropped down to a reasonable number of games now :-) I wouldn't mind something Tier 7-11, but I think that's not likely possible.

I don't have time right now to pick up any more. I'm struggling to keep up with stuff at the moment. Another time perhaps.

I will be away for the month of July, so I would have to wait until the following adventure. My family and I are going to be hiking from the west coast to the east coast of Scotland! Please be sure to send me a message sometime in August or September and I will happily join you for another.

Will do! Looking forward to having you back.
Hmm, okay. I'll round up some more college buddies to fill out the table... the next question is what to run.
7-11 is probably out, as almost no has characters available for that, and 5-9 is a similar story (lol, yes Liam is probably too advanced). I think 3-7 is probably the best ticket, unless we aimed for a 1-5 at the higher tier.
Unfortunately, for 3-7 Chris has played or run literally almost everything, leaving 5-09 The Traitor's Lodge and some Season 0 1-7s. For Tier 1-5 there are a few more options.
Thoughts? Has anybody already played 5-09?
PS: Saki, we'll miss you!

Aww. <3
I'm just coming up to final exams (this is my last week of formal classes this semester) and EEEEVERYTHING is due.
I'm sure you're very familiar with the situation I'm in. :P

I'm sure you're very familiar with the situation I'm in. :P
Yes, intimately... but I'm alllllll done now!
When do exams end for you? There's a possibility that the next game might not start until after then, although you may still be super busy post-exams.

Not until the last week of June, alas. But the exam timetabling system thought it would be a greeeat idea to schedule three of my four exams three days in a row, so I have to really moderate when I'm studying in advance...

Thank you~~ I try to not be too obnoxious when it comes to Paladin oaths and so forth, truly, and I hate when it comes down to "We can't do that because I'm a Paladin". It just seems like our faction missions clash in this scenario... :P
GMTrex
Yes. (Assuming said characters are level 1. You can only apply credit for The Confirmation to one level 2 character.)
GMTrex
Page 20 of the Season 5 PFS Guide. "All Tier 1 scenarios and Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules are available for unlimited replay with a 1st-level character for credit. The sanctioned modules may also be played with a 2nd-level character once for credit. GMs may receive another Chronicle sheet each time they run one of the Tier 1 scenarios or Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules, but may only apply a Chronicle sheet to one 2nd-level character per adventure."
Also in the box on page 6 of the scenario itself: "As a Tier 1–2 scenario, The Confirmation can be replayed for credit with 1st-level characters an unlimited number of times. A player may also receive credit for playing and GMing the scenario once each for a 2nd-level character."

Thanks GMTrex,
That was exactly what I was looking for. Is there a difference between "receiving" a chronicle sheet versus "applying" a chronicle sheet? The only reason I ask is because I was thinking this was just the way you described it, but on my Cabot Con sessions page I received a note that says, "Player has already run scenario at session # 1 of event # 39143 Lotus Land Pathfinder Session on February 08, 2014".
This sounds like they do not want me to apply credit to another first level character. Who do you think I should I email to clarify this?
GMTrex
Hmmm, I'm not sure. What I've described is definitely the consensus on the messageboards (including posts by Paizo employees...) but I might post there with your specific situation. You could also email pathfindersociety@paizo.com.
Did the Cabot Con session page prevent you from submitting the session for credit? My suspicion is that that's just an auto-response for all re-run scenarios.
Still, GMs can re-run normal stuff for credit on a limited basis too, so I don't know.
GMTrex
Ober, how far away from Level 5 is Yoshima?
GMTrex
Hmm, okay. I'd really love to run Fortress of the Nail if nobody's played it yet...
But, meantime, how do folks (Ober, Frag, Trifle) feel about 5-09 The Traitor's Lodge (Tier 3-7)?
Dungeon Master S
I have played Fortress of the Nail (it was near disastrous. One PC accidentally killed another while trying to save her. It sucked as everyone at the table told him it was going to happen. Great mod though.)
I'm DEFINITELY in for the Traitor's Lodge, but with Druthane (Mag 4).
