Male Human Dad/17

Don't ge the wrong idea about Orin, he's not willing to play Judge, Jury, and Executioner all the time. It's just that given his background he is unlikely to be merciful to the bandiits.

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

Nor will Edrukk always be this quick to spare his opponents, but for now, these opponents are of more use to the party alive. You will notice he really didn't shed any tears for Kressle.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Nerd 5/Expert 1

I should be slightly more active over the next few weeks, declining once more as May approaches and my classes finish.

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

I have added a link to a loot list to Edrukk's profile. If no one else minds, Edrukk would like the studded leather armor. Also splitting the money 4 ways, each person gets 56 gp, 80 sp, with 1 gp, 1 sp left over. If we split it 5 ways, starting a party fund, it would be 45 gp, 64 sp, with 1 sp left over.

Draelen, just FYI, you've been introduced into the in-character thread (not sure if you were checking there constantly, so figured I'd give you a head's up).

Sorry it took so long to get you in. Thanks for your patience.

Just so you don't have to go back and try and remember later, what was the xp for the fight?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Thanks, Sunshadow. Everyone can get 228 xp for the fight against Kressle and her crew.

Woohoo! Got it, posted over there, let the bandit-hunting begin (at least for me, you all seem to have done your fair share already).

Just curious, since we are deciding where to go next in the game thread, do we have a map of the areas that we've already explored? I know that the DM suggested that we keep track of where we've gone with the hex map, but I don't know if anyone's picked that up. If not, I'll volunteer, but someone will have to fill me in on where the group's gone already.

Male Human Dad/17

So far we haven't really explored anything. We've travelled through some hexes to travel to the bandit camp and back to the fort, but we never explored them well enough to consider them mapped.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Thanks, Draelen. I've got a blacked-out hex map (that I'll post as well) I did in Photoshop that I can send you if you want. Just let me know your e-mail.

Also, quick question. There're obviously going to be a lot of NPCs in this campaign -- I think we've got seven at the fort alone already. Should I just assume you'll remember who everyone is, try to work some descriptor into the text every time I mention someone, or give an OOC reminder at the end of a post about who everyone is? Preferences?

If you could put a summary of the NPC's we meet in your profile, that would be great. I have a really short memory and will not be able to keep perfect track on all the NPCs.

Male Human Rogue 3 (Swashbuckler)

I agree, NPC profiles in your DM profile is always handy. Thanks for always being so flexible to our requests motteditor, it keeps the game smooth and fun :)

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

Loot and gold questions:
Do we want to start a party fund at this point or wait on that?

Edrukk would like the studded leather, does anybody else want any of the loot?

Are we all mounted? If so, is there an extra horse available? Draelen is going to slow everyone down otherwise.

Motteditor, my e-mail address for the map is in the spoiler:

Email:

ioun.cloud@gmail.com

Male Half elf Spell-less Ranger 7
Character Information:
[HP: 62]; [Armor Class: 24; Touch: 16; Flat Footed: 22]; [BAB: +7; CMB: +11; CMD: 27]; [Saves: Fortitude: +6; Reflex: +7; Will: +3]; [Initiative: +2]; [Perception: +16]

Orin would like one of Kressle's handaxes, anything else can be sold for cash or credit as far as he's concerned.

Male Human Rogue 3 (Swashbuckler)

I'm pretty sure that Rupert has got everything he wants/needs for the time being. And yes, Draelen, I had forgotten but I think we are all mounted. The fort might have more horses, or there might have been one or two left over from the first encounter with the bandits.

EDIT: Also, I am always a big proponent of a party treasury. If it ever gets too big, it's really easy to just give everyone 100 gp, or some other easy amount.

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

I'll go ahead and say that Edrukk sold the the earring, leather armor, shortswords, and longbows to Stevic, and stored the music box, and any of the arrows and unclaimed masterwork hand axes no one wanted immediately with the one bottle of alcohol he held back. Not counting the earrings, that comes to 485 value, so 242 gp, 5 sp from Stevic. Once I figure out the value of the earrings, I will add everything up and split it 7 ways, with any extra going to the party portion.

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

Do we want to give Vandar the other hand axe, or some of the armor/weapons being sold as a reward for his service?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Stevic is willing to give you 75 gp for the earrings.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Heh. I think Treshiell's the only one who speaks draconic. This discussion should be pretty amusing.

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

Everybody gets 77 gp, 46 silver for their personal accounts.

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

I also went ahead and gave the other handaxe to Vandar as a reward for his help. I couldn't leave the guy with no weapons after all that.

Haha, I like Vandar. That was a good idea.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Vandar is suitably appreciative of the fine gift you've given him.

Everyone can get 125 XP for exploring the first chunk of the Stolen Lands and surviving your encounter with the Sootscale kobolds in the moon radish patch. Draelen, feel free to put up the map with the hex uncovered (or if you want, I can take care of that).

Just saw that i haven't been making notes about our xp-progress. How much xp do we have in total?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

By my count, Treshiell should have 499 XP (125 from this encounter, 228 from the bandit camp, and 146 for the fight at Fort Kazmir).

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

A list of the NPCs, in alphabetical order (and links to their first appearances!) can now be found in my profile. I've tried to include information you know about them, but feel free to ask me to add/subtract information as you interact with characters and get to know them better. If you start to suspect, for example, that Mikmek is actually the Stag Lord and want me to list that in his entry, I will.

Male Human Rogue 3 (Swashbuckler)

I just wanted to apologize for not posting these last few days--it's been really hectic, but I'll be back and posting regularly again after today. Feel free to DM rule my in game actions if I'm slowing up combat.

Fantastic job! You continue to impress :)

No problem, Rupert. I figured everyone must have been celebrating Easter or something since everyone went quiet for the weekend, but let's see if we can't get back going again, guys.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Sorry, guys, was going to post an update last night and then work suddenly got crazy with the bin Laden announcement. Will get something up as soon as I wake up.

No problem, it's turned a lot of things on their heads around here too!

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Mazel tov, guys. We've made it to 500 posts. Considering it appears the third game I've tried as a player has died in the first couple pages, I'd say it's a feat worth noting. I think this officially makes us a level 2 PBP thread. : )

You deserve most of the credit motteditor, the most important thing for keeping PbP games is a dedicated and talented DM and you've done a great job! I've had a good time everyone, thanks for letting me join in.

Male Human Rogue 3 (Swashbuckler)

Yeah, seconded. I'm playing in three different PbP's right now, and this one is the slowest, but it's actually a very relaxing pace for me - especially considering how quickly my other two PbP's move, haha. I never feel like we're dragging here (except in a few parts, like over extended holiday weekends and other expected obstacles), and we're making a fair amount of progress, too. You really stepped up and delivered on this one :) thanks for the great game.

I love our party dynamic, too, by the way. I feel like we have just the right balance of pure power, kindness, charm, wits, and a little bit of craziness that makes the group really fun to play with.

500 posts goes by quick. I am thoroughly enjoying this game, and would be interacting more with the others at fort this stop, but I'm on vacation this week, so I am traveling and visiting relatives before the schedule sucks me back into the rut.

Male Human Rogue 3 (Swashbuckler)

I just wanted to say sorry for bein' gone yesterday, but I'm probably going to be gone most of today too. Finals week has hit me far harder than I expected, but I'll be mostly done with everything after today.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I wasn't quite sure if Rupert was ready to go be rogue-y with Kesten's stuff, so I didn't advance the action over the weekend. Treshiell's got a question out there; Orin hasn't weighed in; Lirisial doesn't seem to be involved in the discussion (but could be a good distraction...). Let's deal with that on Monday and then I'll advance the story.

Also, I don't want to be a dick, but there are a few people I'd like to see post with a little more frequency. I'm fine with weekends being relatively slow, but I'd like to see a post or two a day Monday-Friday; a couple people are doing more like a post or two a week. If you're going to be too busy/away for a bit, please let us all know in this thread and I certainly understand that -- I've got a vacation coming up at the end of the month, though it's mostly a "staycation" other than a few days -- but more people posting will move everything along more quickly. Thanks.

Also, if you should need it for any reason, you can e-mail me at ruethday (at) ptd.net

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

If it's any comfort, I've seen all of my games slow down in the last month, so it's probably just spring and people getting out after winter affecting all the games here.

Not dickish at all. When it comes to me i would go as far as to say that the dick is on the other foot. I'm enjoying this PbP immensly and the only thing i would have to complain about (except the huge number of drop outs in the beginning) is that i'm not able to keep up my posting rate.

The sad fact is that Treshiell is harder to play than i imagined when i first drew up the concept, which regretably results in some of my other character's getting to post when my time is limited.

But with that being said i will try to keep my posting rate to once per day, especially when there is something that awaits Treshiell's interaction.

Male Dwarf Bard (savage skald) 3

She is a fun character, but a tough one to make fit into this particular group. Everyone kind of has their own backstory and none of them have really had a chance to blend together quite yet. This tends to mean that after the initial introductions, the party really hasn't done much intraparty discussions about each other. This isn't really good or bad, but it does affect the dynamic of the game.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I like her a lot; she definitely makes me crack up with almost all of your posts, Patrik. I could see some of the party forming a big brother type of bond with her (or some other surrogate family role), though I'm curious to see where you all take it; I like letting it all develop in-game.

I really like the character to, that's not the problem. The problem is just that it's much harder to figure out what she will do and what she will say at any given time. I thought that a character with the core principle "wierd for the sake of wierd" would be easy, but i've been proven wrong. Her posts just take longer to write, as apposed to some of my other characters, especially my village idiot of a dwarf in this game whom practically writes itself. Don't know what that says about me though :) But as i said, i'll try pick up my post rate and keep the game going. Because i'm really enjoying the game.

And i think Treshiell is actually quite easy to fit into most groups, since she will happily tag along with most things. Except if the group would venture into the "kill everything for more xp"-path, but that does not seem likely :)

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Wandslinger, are you out there? Again, I don't want to be a jerk, but I'd like to see Lirisial posting with a little more frequency. I know you've got grad school and probably finals, which I completely understand, but I think there are people who can keep up a little more if you don't have time.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Really enjoying your current discussion, guys. Please assume you're in transit to the east; I don't want to disrupt it by posting a forward advancing of the plot, so I'll try to judge when you seem to have things wrapped up (or just yell at me in this thread). We've been slower on the weekends, but I'll do my best to play it by ear.

Male Human Rogue 3 (Swashbuckler)

:) I just want to say don't feel like you're ever rushing us through conversations or roleplaying, because those are the types of things that can happen simultaneously along with plot and action. Of course they're very important in any game, but if you feel like the plot should advance a bit you're the best judge for that: we can always continue our conversation while responding to the plot advances, whether through retcon or just continuing to speak in character.

EDIT: Also, should we start looking for another replacement?

It's been a week since Wandslinger posted last and he did say that he would slow down around May as his classes wound up. I'd say give him a little more time, say Wednesday, before recruiting a replacement.

Male Human Dad/17

No offense to Wandslinger, but if we do decide to replace him I have a friend who'd be willing to play.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Vanulf, if your friend wants to submit a character here, tell him/her to go for it and I'll take a look. I was recently in a PBP that folded after two pages due to disappearing DM syndrome, but the players all seemed good, so I may also ask them to pitch an idea.

At this point, I think it's best to replace Wandslinger. Sorry, man, but I'm just looking for a more frequent poster.
