GM:
Not trying to criticize much, but here is how I think I would have run this - they may be prone but if they are under tables and such they would also have a cover bonus, basically canceling out the prone penalty. Also since they were in cover I probably would have given them a stealth check to not be noticed even with the area lighting up. It would make the encounter a little harder rather than something that we basically walk through. Of course depending on the wording of the scenario this could change, so you might be stuck with it as written idk.

Artix glances around, seeing the others have the goblins cornered and contained. Moving to guard the way out of the room, he watches for any other threats as he calls over his shoulder.

That will do for both surprise and first round.

Anyone else interested. :):
I would do so but the encounter in this case is ambigious as the only thing not under a chair or table is the goblin dog and even then it describes them as not under it with half their bodies out in the description and what's worse is that they make no attempts at stealth......It could be that mine is a little old but I doubt that. At least Part 2 & 3 are better written per encounter. I'd admit Part 1 in this case is more of a warmup though. Their tactics also state when the entire party enters they attack. lol. Only the scary Falcon did. The goblins will fight to the death.
I can promise though the last encounter will not be a walk in the park even if you feel this one is. :P
If the players would like a higher challenge, I'd refrain from Dumb Tactics as written? Just an Aye or Nay in your posts would do.

As the crossbows discharged their payload, Falcon takes a swipe at one of the goblins who heaves a loud sigh of relief as the blade slices through the chair he was under. His crossbow jerks once and its bolt slams into Falcon.

Rurik's aim is hampered by flying chair pieces preventing him from getting a clear shot at the goblin.

Leaving the unconsious goblin where it is, you head upstairs.

Most of the rooms on the second floor are armories stocked with armor, weapons, shields, equipment, food, supplies, and so on. The provisions and arms here could stock a small army for a small period of time or maintain the city’s defensive forces for an extended period. The loss of these provisions could prove disastrous for Trollheim, especially were the malicious forces of Irrisen to conduct a prolonged or well-staged assault on the city.

At the southeastern window, you see that Hjort and his crew are already down in the practice yard.

A man in red robed, quarterstaff, crossbow over his back and seems to have finished reciting something from a scroll as it crumbles from his hands.
What seems to be a half elf also in simple clothes, with a potion in his belt and his hands ready on it.

Yeah, I only jumped out of the window because I assumed we were in combat rounds or something similar (and that it would take some time to actually climb down)... ah well, going balls to the walls for this.

Charge - Axe: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
AC at 19

Not bothered by her minor falling injury, Sigrun lets out a roar of challenge as she rushes at Hjort, axe blade flashing in the air. Perhaps not the wisest of tactical choices, but then again, you're talking to the woman that just jumped out of a second floor window...

Sigrun Have you seen the Yard Information?

Yard Information:

Anyone who attempts to take more than a single move action during a round must succeed on a DC 15 Acrobatics check to avoid falling prone. Hjort and his crew know of the yard’s conditions and move cautiously.

Oh, damn, didn't see that.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16

Having grown up in the frozen north, the slippery snow beneath her feet is barely even an obstacle to the enraged Ulfen warrior!

Sigrun's Charge brings her into a loud impact with Hjort as her axe cleaves into Hjort easily past his meager armor and spills blood.

Gyuki seeing that Sigrun is mometarily tangled with Hjort, goes into swift action. It is obvious though the ground hinders him as much as it hinders all of you.

Acrobatics and Heavy Armor, ugg

Absorbing the blow from the missile Falcon grunts and will move carefully forward, drawing his bow instead of his sword, taking a shot at Hjort.

Guess I'll use this bow after all Falcon says, taking some satisfaction after being hit with crossbow bolts and exploding balls of force that he might be able to return the favor.
