He pauses to bite off another chunk of bread, then looks at Almalik. "You think you squishiest, so me link you first. Not hurt, but you feel it in head. You relax, let Nagbur in, yes? Let Nagbur in."

He closes his eyes and stops chewing for a few moments.

Almalik, there's no RAW mechanic for this, but I've always imagined there would be a mental sensation of some sort, like a "tickle" at the base of your brain, or feeling a presence. Regardless, you're aware that Nagbur is trying to do something to your mind. Totally up to you whether you rebuff the attempt or let it happen. (And you are fully within your rights to ask for more details first, haha!)

Now at the mine, Almalik does another double-take; utterly baffled by Ama.

"You speak perfect common. How do you not know that word? Fighting, battle, or chomhrac in the elven tongue. Could you please stop being evasive, and explain to us who we will be risking our lives wi-- wait, Nogbur, what are you doing?!"

Noticing that Nogbur had been talking about a link, Almalik turns on the goblin, clearly about to lose his temper. "What precisely is this link? And why do I want to allow it?"

Nagbur frowns at Almalik. "Nagbur! Nagbur! Like sticker-pod under saddle of tired horse," he says with exasperation. "You not just blind, you stupid too! Me explain all this to you at table before! This how Nagbur heal and make stronger."

"You no want help, fine. Me still have skinny teeth." He points an accusing finger at the arcanist. "But when you get hurt, no come crying wah-wah to Nagbur!"

He turns to the kobold. "Fish, wait. Scout ahead good idea. You smart. Me protect you first instead."

Fish, he tries the same thing with you. You can tell Nagbur's trying to access your mind in some way. Up to you if you accept or not; just let me know.

Guild map | Jade regent

As breakfast is finished Vaara clears the table and heads into the back . She returns with a pack of her own.
"I'll clear the dishes later, let's head off now."
She looks around the group and ignores their whimpering.
"I'll join you for the first part of the trip then I'll direct you the last part of the journey to the mines. If you don't have a bedroll or flint and steel they are at the door."
She heads out the door with the group and they head off.

Halfway through the journey she tells you that she will head back and tells you the directions for the last part, which are quite easy to follow. You arrive at the mine late in the afternoon.

I believe Fish is now officially part of your group Nagbur :)

When you enter the mine you can hear voices coming from the hallway in front of you, you are unable to determine what language it is or what's being said. Fish scouts a bit ahead and can determine that the voices come from the inlet further down the hallway (Indicated by the red dot).

In the mine you can see decaying corpses stripped from valuables lying in the hallways. Sometimes if you listen carefully you can hear feet hurrying past you behind the wall, as told by the story.

Fish:

You stop to look around the hallway carefully and see that the ground is uneven just in front of you. It looks like a pit trap.

The map is updated, I placed Fish a bit further down the pathway to scout.

Ama's too distracted with all that's going on to reply to Almalik's question. She instead offers him a loaf of bread, after which she leaves the table to get a bedroll and flint and steel.

Once at the mines Ama watches Fish sneak around. "Are you playing a game? Can I join?"

When Nagbur tries to enter Ama's mind he gets the feeling he's being watched by another being. Whatever is watching allows Nagbur's entrance into Ama's mind, but when Bagbur digs deeper he's promptly engulfed by a major force. The image of several hundred eyes shows in Nagbur's mind. They all blink, and a genderless voice speaks to the vitalist: "ไม่ขุดลึกเกินไปถ้าคุณต้องการที่จะอยู่ต้อนรับ นี้ไม่ได้โดเมนใจเดินทางของคุณ"

Sylvan:
"Don't dig too deep if you want to stay welcome. This isn't your domain, mind traveler."

Meanwhile Ama scratches the back of her head, not even realizing something's going on inside her mind.

"Whoa..." says Nagbur in a tone somewhere between surprise and bewilderment. He blinks and reflexively takes a step away from Ama.

For what it's worth, he wouldn't root around in anyone's mind. Even if he had the ability to "mind read," he respects others' privacy too much (read: "he's too lawful") for that. But I can see the described strangeness happening as the connection was "anchored" and strengthened.

He doesn't speak Sylvan, by the way. :o)

Also: For the record, Nagbur doesn't need flint and steel, but he'll grab a set in case someone else has a future need.

Guild map | Jade regent

Fish is unable to disable the trap and still stands in front of it. You are left with two options, right or left. Both ways seem very similar as far as you can see. From the entrance some light still seeps into the mine and lights the way for a bit. Further down you are unable to see and need a light source.

Ama and fish are in the 'group' ^^

Actually, everyone but Almalik has darkvision, so it depends on your definition of "further down." We should be good to 60'.

Heading to work where I can't post soon; Nagbur has no preference as to direction so whatever y'all want to do is fine by him. He will stay close but in the back.

Guild map | Jade regent

You follow the path for a while and turn some corners. There is nothing to see except darkness and corpses. When you turn the last corner you see lots of spiderwebs a bit further down the path (Around the triangle). Considering the size of the webs these are no small spiders. The voices from earlier have died down, you are unable to hear them from this distance. The path is now eerily quiet.

No worries :) I moved everyone further down the map since the hallways are empty.

Almalik awkwardly carries a crossbow at this side and stops short to examine the webs.

"Fascinating. Obviously a larger sort of specimen. This may not be a well-travelled part of the cave; unless whoever has taken up residence can co-exist peacefully with very large spiders."

Almalik studies the web carefully.

"I can attempt to burn the web; I am unsure if it is flammable or not, but it is an easy way to deny the spiders an advantage. I don't see a peaceful solution short of full retreat."

Ama swings her nodachi once more, failing to hit the spider once again.

"I don't like this thing anymore! It's mean!"

Guild map | Jade regent

Ama obviously new to fighting misses the spider again.

Combat Order:
- Almalik

- Nagbur

In bold may act!

You came in in the late afternoon and it is now nearing evening. You may explore in the night but you may also choose to overnight in the mines, or outside for that matter. This would give you the opportunity to discuss how to advance and for Almalik to change his spells.

"Fish my friend, please move a bit so I may have a clear line to the spider!" calls Almalik.

Holding my action.

M Male Blue Vitalist 7 (HP 44/44 (0 NL) | AC:17 | T:13 | FF:16 | CMB:2 | CMD:14 | Fort:+7 | Ref:+3 | Will:+10 | Init:+1 | Perc: +11 | Speed 30 CM: 5/7 | TW: 8/8 | RoH: 1/1 | PP:10/72 | AE: Fire | Focused

Seeing one spider go down, Nagbur stinks at the other one.

Siphon (RTA): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Siphon Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Figures. I finally get a decent attack roll and the damage -- which had been maxing out every time -- goes to minimum. Fish, you pick up one temporary HP for one minute.

A sick-looking grin spreads across Nagbur's blue face as he finally connects.

The spider attacks again, aiming for Ama.

You may still decide on the night thing mentioned earlier :)

Determined to hit the spider this time, Ama swings her nodachi at it again.

Nodachi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

"Did I get it? Did I?!"

Let's camp outside, if it doesn't rain :P

Guild map | Jade regent

Combat over! Map updated.

Ama finally hit's the spider and nearly chops off some of it's legs. Fish moves and flanks the spider, his attack splits the head of the spider in two making a bloody mess. After a loud squeak from the dying spider the mines grow quiet again.

You have the feeling that you have some time still before dark, maybe an hour or so.

Male N Human Arcanist 7 | HP: 40/51 | AC: 20 (14 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +2, CMD: 14 | F: +4, R: +6, W: +7 | Init: +6 | Perc: +0, SM: +0 | Speed 30ft | Resevoir: 5/10 | Spells 0/5, 3/5, 3/4 | Active conditions: none

Almalik lowers his crossbow and nods to the others.

"Unfortunate, in the next battle I'd like ac lear line of attack before you close in; so that you are not caught in the arc of my spell. I am willing to continue if the rest of you are."

F First Folk - Time Thief/7 (HP 52/52 | AC:19 | T:13 | FF:16 | CMB:8 | CMD:21 | Fort:+5 | Ref:+9 | Will:+5 | Death effects:+2 | Init:+3 | Perc:+5 | Speed 30)
Abilities:
Motes: 13/13 | Aevum: 1/1 | Rune of Healing: 1/1

"Why did they stop moving?" Ama asks while staring at the dead spiders. "Are they doing this sleep thing we did last evening? Don't they need a bed?"

Perception, inspect the spiders: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Ama wanders of into the tunnel, looking for the spiders' bed. She has an odd feeling though, like something bad may happen if she's not careful.

Perception, looking for traps: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

I wondered where the good rolls went :P

Almalik does a double-take as Ama looks on at the bodies with childlike wonder.

"What -are- you?!"
