25-point buy, actually.
Had character like that before. His death was glorious. He held the line.
actually the 25 point buy is the best part, he's one of the 5 different ideas for characters i have been working on lately. i finished writing him up yeseterday as a base a use 20 point buy. with this being 25 i can bump his con up more or fix his dwindling wisdom

Alrighty then, to pursue this question a bit more, would you allow me to bring over an NPC I created for a home game I run? I ask because the character in question is a Forlarren Sacred Fist Warpriest. The majority of the characters backstory is about her closing herself off from the insane rage that consumes the species, and trying to find her inner self. Hence a Neutral alignment. She usually appears emotionless and passive on the surface (so RP wouldn't be disruptive), and I think it'd be interesting to have a character that has lived long enough to see the crusades with her own eyes. It'd also vouch for this as a not-so powerful race/class combo, since I could probably make a human warpriest just as strong. Or a cleric. Or a paladin, etc...
If the species would be too powerful for your taste, I might be able to work with the tiefling. Although, I'd need to ask if I can have an extended life span to keep the backstory similar.
I feel weird being the guy asking to play the out-there race.

This is what I have so far: Skjor, Viking Lord of Rock. I have everything but spells and equipment done. His weapon/instrument will be a greataxe, and I'm trying to decide on a good name for it. Any ideas?
Will have his background and stuff posted tomorrow. Need sleep for work in the morning now.

Green Smashomancer |

Relax, one of my campaigns had a character playing a tanuki cleric of calistria (long story) I'm used to out there options :)
Yeah, go ahead. A forlarren warpriest sounds like an interesting idea.
1. Wat.
2. Oh boy! But now I have decision paralysis. I need to settle on some thing, since I'm bad with names And will likely need at least an hour to think of one for either the Ratfolk Electronic specialist who wishes to combine Magic with technology and speaks in a funny accent, or the new idea that popped in my head for a gunslinging Paladin. I don't have as much for him yet though. The imagery just feels fantastic. I think he'd be someone looking for an enemy to defend his charges against. The world hasn't had a "villain" in a long time in his eyes. He'd of course have to learn that is not a good idea at some point.

I think I have a concept here. A Kasatha Bolt Ace Gunslinger.
He is a Canadian trapper and hunter who uses the crossbow, preferring them and their relative silence to the loud nature of guns. He was kind of a loner, with his parents being the only Kasathans around for miles and miles. Then again, that comes with growing up so close to the Hudson straight it is practically in your backyard. But the life of a hunter in the cold reaches of Canada didn't quite suit him.
He set out on his nineteenth birthday and eventually joining a travelling circus where he performed feats of markmanship for a living. While he has seen quite a few parts of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico he has not visited his family home in years, and that weighs on him. And to make matters worse; jobs like that aren't exactly stable. He's been jobless since the circus went bankrupt a week ago.

I had a really weird idea, some sort of vigilante, masked hero kinda idea, maybe like a bloodrager or something.
Sorry if that is incredibly out there but it brings out my inner child.
I assume we start with 150 gold/dollars
edit: have remembered that I own a play test for a new class called the vigilante
Still am going to be a bloodrager unless your willing to let me be the vigilante

Green Smashomancer |

Honestly, if I didn't want to go with this skald idea so much, I would have gone with a gunslinger or trench fighter or something using guns. I swear, every time I get in a game that allows the use of guns, I just about always have a different idea for a character I want to do.
I know what you mean. I played in a political scheme game with the other party members already involved in some shady stuff, so naturally I couldn't help bringing in a paladin, you know the perfect undercover class. Just kind of an amusing thought. especially if I settle on a creature whose lifespan is best defined as "George RR Martins writing speed."
Actually that might be weird now that I think about it. How does someone only have two levels after ~900 years?
EDIT: And I like having a skald around too, kind of want to see one in play.

Celissa |

Oh my. This sounds intriguing, to say the least. I had a tiefling sorcerer type pop into my head when I read the concept. Sort of a demon-blooded street rat sort of girl with odd abilities that she doesn't quite know how to control. I'll think about it at work today and see if I can't get her to talk to me a little when I get home tonight.

Archae |

Okay so i have spent the night thinking about my character choice and have decided to bring in Ammon, based on ease of play and my lack of class ideas for my other character.
So to clarify mechanically heavy armored
oracle/blood-rager wielding a large bastard sword.
(2 levels / all the rest) my plans for later

Jaster Kite |

Wow, lots to go on here. Gonna have to count the available slots... I'm sure I can have a big team. eight or so players.
And now...
stuff.
1. The reasoning was that pranks were a good means of Calistria's ministry of revenge. My NE tiefling character actually used him as Bullette bait once. Also long story, involving a pole and some rope :)
2. The Paladin idea sounds wicked (and that's a hard compliment from someone strongly on the side of chaotic). Definitely a character that could play with the setting. But you have to decide, I'd be happy with all of your concepts thus far.Other Stuff
Certainly a character after my own heart.
More stuff
I know, right :)
Stuff about money
Maximum starting 'gold.' I'm thinking of naming the universal currency credits (original, I know)
Stuff about alternate rules
I'll work on a write-up straightaways. All I can say beforehand is that automatic weapons going to be expensive to obtain and operate (also, the gun safety laws of certain countries are bound to come into play).
Even more stuff
Great idea, I've been hoping to get a vigilante type character for a while now. There's another character that's torn between one character and a bloodrager, so you might wanna talk to Archae first, unless he already decided. Either way, cool idea
Whoo! Chances are now that I'm done, there will be a few more questions needed answering.

Edinoiz |

Ok, then I have a question: would a Kasatha (a four armed race) get Multiweapon Fighting and then be able to take Improved Two-Weapon Fighting and Greater Two-Weapon Fighting, with the result of getting the following attack pattern; main hand/off hand/off hand/off hand _ main hand/off hand _ main hand/off hand?

Edinoiz |

Also, would the Bolt Ace's deed Inexplicable Reload allow you to reload a crossbow without free hands if you can reduce the reload time to a non-action?

Jaster Kite |

Someone's been reading the rules. Sounds kinda awesome once I imagine it, y'know. Crossbow bolts firing, inexplicably reloading. Like Equilibrium, with a four armed alien and crossbows. Yeah, I think so. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but you're logic seems sound, even if it does defy the laws of physics...

![]() |

There is a monster race with the ability to do that, I think its...ashura?...or at least one of them.
But then again the rule of cool tells me to shut up and accept awesome when I see it :)
Also GM-dood do you have the playtest for the vigilante class? If so I'd like to play that, but a rogue would be fine if you don't.
edit: scratch the ashura thing, they get multi weapon mastery and take no penalties to attacking with multiple weapons, pretty sure that's not what your looking for.

Arknight |

Ok, this looks too good to pass up. :)
I actually have an idea for an investigator named Antonin 'Tony' Sepetdlav. Orphaned at a young age and raised in one foster children's home after another, to avoid all the bullying because of his unusual looks, he would read and learn anything he could get his hands on. He loves solving puzzles and mysteries, but has a tendency to be a bit single-minded in his approach to it.
He was recently told by an Oracle that he's the heir to a great power, and is now curious to find out what that is. He knows it has something to do with his last name, and his birth family, but as of yet he's still digging.
Initial thought is Human, but also tantalized by the thought of making him a Dhampir...
Thoughts? Would there even still be a spot available? :)

Titus "The Titan" Armstrong |

I would like Titus to be considered. Everything is in his background. He was in a modern game before but as a Godling. Hope your cool with the template if not then that's cool.
Advice to a GM: Don't take first come on here. You have to look at posting history and quality if you want your game to last. I'm not saying don't give new players a chance but there are many things to consider. I post around 20 times a day as I'm in 10 games on here at the moment. My longest is over 3 years. Feel free to read through old post of Titus or any of my other games to get a feel for how I play. Thanks for the consideration.

Mote of Time (Su)
A mote is a tiny split-second of time that a time thief steals from her own future. The motes taken are inconsequential slivers of continuance that even the time thief will not notice being missing from her activities. However, a time thief can use these motes to affect her present timeline, allowing her to re-try actions and slow down time around her so she can act more carefully and alertly in fast-moving situations.
Each day, the time thief has a pool of motes equal three plus her class level. Once a round, as a free action, a time thief can expend a mote to do any one of the following things:
Gain a bonus to one attack roll, skill check, ability check, or saving throw. The roll must represent a single action that occurs entirely within a single round. (A time thief could use a mote to add a bonus to an Acrobatics check to leap over a chasm, but not to a Craft check made to determine how much progress was made after a day of work.) The bonus gained is equal to +1d4. This increases to +2d4 at 8th level, and +3d4 at 16th level. The time thief can decide to add this bonus immediately after seeing the result of the original die roll.
Take a swift action that does not count against the time thief’s normal limit of one swift action per round.
Act in the surprise round when the time thief would not normally be able to do so.
At 3rd level, a time thief gains the ability to add the bonus from spending a mote of time to a single damage roll, or to her armor class (as a dodge bonus) until the beginning of her next turn.
At 7th level, the time thief may spend a mote to reduce the duration of any negative condition or effect she is suffering. By accelerating the speed with which only the negative influences on her travel through time, the time thief can reduce the duration of any one condition, affliction, or spell effect by 1d6 rounds (to a minimum of 0). This increased to a 2d6 round reduction at 15th level.
At 11th level, the time thief may spend a mote to take a move action as a swift action.
At 19th level, the time thief may use a mote to grant any ally within 60 feet that she can see an additional move action on that ally’s next turn.
New York is a tough city, a city full of crime, a city full of hope, and this city is my home. My name is Geralt Snacko, 21 years old, going on my third year at NYU , taking care of my younger brother Turt. Oh yeah…also moonlighting as the vigilante “The Moment”. Let me tell ya, the life of a hero is not easy, especially when your going to college, taking care of your brother and trying to hold my coffee shop job down. But it’s completely worth it, because when I see the relief on the would-be victims face after I save them from a mugging, I feel like I have done the right thing. When I save a child from a building fire and get my thanks from the family, I know I have made the right decision.
How I got my powers was, like in the comics my brother reads, completely by chance. I was walking home from a particularly bad day at my workplace (a Starbucks BTW) and wanted to get home quickly, so I took a shortcut through a alleyway. Suddenly, space itself became distorted all around me, I grew fearful but as quickly as it happened, it stops. I stood still for a few moments, hoping whatever that was would not Come back. When it didn’t, I quickly inspected myself hoping that nothing too important was lost, I was surprised to see that a scar that I had gotten 2 months prior, was completely gone, as if it didn’t happen, I ran home and after a couple of weird dreams and experiences, I figured out I could forcibly take bits of my future, “motes” I you will, and use them to power my superhuman abilities in the moment, ya get my name now?
So at the behest of my little brother, I became The Moment, The Time Thief of New York City

Jaster Kite |

Sweet! A time thief. Nice build and backstory, but, uh... you're supposed to start at level 2 :)
Also, I hate foreshadow anything, but that whole background and skillset fould be freaking perfect for my game.
Will take advice, Titus, wasn't planning on it being first come first serve (though I have become quite attatched to some of the first character designs, admittedly). And I will also take your character into consideration.

Jaster Kite |

Announcement. Do to the surprise popularity of this thread (having only expected five or so players to submit their characters and I simply stick with them) I will have to cut recruiitment short.
Post your characters with full background and stats, and I will soon go over all of them, choosing out of them about eight. I hate having to let anyone go, but I don't have the skill to run a campaign with over a dozen PCs. Regrettably, this is not the X-Men (though I'll be sure to stow that idea for later).
Good writing, and I Know I'd have a spectacular team with each and every one of you.
On bright side, campaign should start more swiftly.
